During our conversation, we touch on what happens when big businesses get too big and what we can do to combat that, and most importantly that it's not the job of one or two people, but a lot of us banding together to make a massive positive impact on the world we all participate in.

Once upon a time Shannon + Dr. Lee decided to do a 2 part episode series...

Part 1 was going to be on Dr. Lee's podcast.

Part 2 was going to be on the Shannon Show.

And thennnn... they sat down to record and ended up talking for 2 hours straight!

So now, you get the WHOLE episode on BOTH podcasts.

In this episode, Shannon starts of interviewing Dr. Lee and diving into her unique approach to teaching, which encourages students to fail in the classroom in order to build "distress tolerance" and learn from their mistakes.

They then let the conversation wander, touching on:

  • the transformative power of vulnerability in leadership and how it contrasts with traditional expectations of how we should show up.

  • the nuances of treating people with kindness and providing them with attunement

*the importance of making decisions based on our values, our bodies, and our lives

AND

*the incredible impact of taking the time to understand and learn from our past experiences.

If you'd like to connect further with Dr. Lee, you can find her on Facebook, inside the Becoming Trauma-Informed : Creating Safe(r), Shame-Free Spaces Community or, her favorite, on Tik-Tok!

On today's episode of the Shannon Show, I got to talk to my friend Tim Gay about, well... a lot of things!

We touched on why it's not only important to be able to NAME a feeling, but to also be able to process all the way through it and how spiritual practitioners often miss the bar on meeting their clients where they and instead bypass their experience.

We also talked about the global effects of being part of a society that struggles to identify their emotions in the first place as we've so often been conditioned to pretend they're not happening and how we've glorified dissociation in our culture.

I know I say this every time I have a guest, but this one is extra special to me because I got to interview my 11 year old daughter for this episode.

I asked my social media networks what questions they had for her and we took the time to answer ALL of them, so I decided to make this a two-part series.

This is part one of that series where I ask her questions like “What do you want to do with your life?” and “What are your favorite aspects of the way I parent you and what could I do better?” and tons more and her answers DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

If you have not already, please consider subscribing so you don’t miss part 2 where we wrap up the rest of her questions with the grand finale we’ve all been waiting for: Roblox or Minecraft AND she flips the script on me and asks me some questions, which I was NOT expecting at all.

In last week's episode, I talked a bit about "Force vs Flow" in your business as a neurodivergent entrepreneur and when I asked Simon to come on the podcast to expand on this topic, I was not expecting him to introduce a new, quite honestly, more accurate term for what to call humans with brains like ours.

I broke down some of the main topics by time stamp below because this one ended up on the longer side, but believe me, it was worth the 800 hours I spent editing this monster during a Mercury Retrograde in order to drop it for you all by Friday (Never mind that it's going to be 9pm on a Friday; I did the damn thing!)

There’s a lot of talk in the online space right now around femininity and there’s a place for that in business for sure AND it takes structure in order for that feminine flow to truly thrive.

In this episode, I discuss some of the fail safes I’ve put in place for myself as a multi passionate, neurodivergent entrepreneur to ensure that I’m able to operate more from a “flow state” in most areas of my business rather than forcing myself to do a lot of things I don’t want to do.

The key to all of this is setting guidelines for myself to operate within. Think of them as guard rails; controlled chaos, if you will.

On today's episode, I'm joined with my very first guest on this iteration of the podcast, Keisha Jordan!

Keisha was an obvious first guest for me. She’s my favorite Canadian, a mind blowing digital artist, and is on a mission to help women of color and misfits move from a supporting role in their lives to main character energy.

We're going to have to do this again soon, because, as expected, we didn't even make it through the 3 topics we planned to cover today, but what you can expect is a deep dive in to what it looks like to be a human with mixed identities in North America, specifically, someone with a white presenting parent and a black presenting parent, and a critical look at systemic racism, the difference between bias and racism and how those things affect not only the target, but everyone involved.

If you desire to connect further with Keisha, you can find her here:

Trigger warning: Talk of guns, poverty & elusion to sexual assault

Welcome back to the Shannon Show.

I'm not gonna lie. I put on my ranty pants for this one.

I actually recorded the notes for this episode accidentally a few weeks ago as I was verbally processing some things to myself via Voxer as I often do and I decided to take that material and turn it in to a podcast episode so I could share it with you.

The main theme here is the difference between equality and equity & how I think we could be using our collective energy much differently for the greater good.

Oh, and there's a bit of a sneak peak in to the next episode... It's going to be JUICY!

Hello & welcome to the Shannon Show!

In this episode, I walk you through some questions to ask yourself if you're thinking about starting a business right now

OR

If you have already started a business and you're not seeing the result you're looking for and you're trying to decide whether to keep going or call it.

Disclaimer : All of this is meant to spark critical thinking on your end and is not intended as individual advice because I don’t know you and that would be irresponsible as fuck.

Content Warning : Talk of Suicidal Ideation + Disordered Eating

This episode got a little tangenty, as they tend to with me. Come along for the journey as I talk about learning how my brain functions, what motivates me and how to work with how my brain processes information instead of trying to shove myself in to a box that was never meant for me.

I talk a bit about my ADHD diagnosis (and all the times I was mis-diagnosed and treated for the wrong things) and what tweaks I've made in my life that have helped me out.

The main point of this episode, or the TL;DR version is this : Take the time to learn how your brain works and do what works best for YOU as an individual.

Feel free to comment with your thoughts + if you're feeling extra generous, subscribe + leave me an honest review!

You can connect with me further on Facebook if you so desire! (Be sure to shoot me a message letting me know you found me from my podcast so I don't deny your request automatically!)
