This is a podcast that acts as a bridge between academia and society. I have been studying a lot of things in academia that affect our daily lives that people need to know about, but there are also reasons why academia works the way that it does. Stay tuned for some life-changing discoveries about the world we live in, the trends we are creating, and the invisible but wicked problems that academia is working on solving.
I define the three terms that inspired the name of the podcast. Disinformation, Misinformation, and Malinformation (DisMisMal). I share some real-life examples of these three forms of information disorder. This episode explores three instances that the way we think makes it hard for us to recognize lies. I talk about Poe's law, self-bias, cognitive bias, and confirmation bias and how they all affect how we can easily fail to recognize lies.
