This week Aaron Pew, Matt Cantril, and Eli Bayless sit down to discuss "the art of spiritual small talk." How do we engage with friends, family, and strangers regarding the deeper parts of life? How do we get better at having meaningful conversations?
Does it have to be weird? Maybe. Maybe not.
The Podcast goes rogue this week - No Matt. No Travis. Just awesome.
Hannah and Aaron spend some time discussing how they became worship leaders and discuss the philosophy of worship at the District.
This week Matt and Brady Roberts discuss how to shepherd and disciple others on a heart level... the case study: their own children.
Do we want to teach people how to look like Christians, or what it means to follow Jesus in the deepest recesses of our hearts? Do we long for people to check boxes, or walk according to God's perfect plan?
Click here to check out the book "Shepherding a Child's Heart" by Ted Tripp!
This week Matt and Aaron sit down to discuss what it looks like to preach to yourself. Nobody talks to you more than you talk to you. What are you talking to yourself about?
On Travis' final podcast for a while the guys thought it would be appropriate to discuss how we can follow Jesus when our normal schedule takes a shift.
How can we pursue discipleship with Jesus and a church community when the programming takes a break?
This week the guys discuss what it means to be made for Jesus. How often do you think about the fact that God made you for Himself? What does that mean?
How do we practice this reality? The guys take a look at the book Intentional Father to see how we can adopt a Biblical viewpoint.
This week the guys sit down with Vanessa Toman (don't call her Nessy). If you have never met Vanessa... what are you doing? If you have... learn a little bit more about her!
We hope this conversation blesses you!
This week the guys discuss all of the important stuff: the church name, cut flower theory...other...stuff.
We pray this discussion will spark more thoughts and good conversation in your life. We are always accepting new topics and questions that you would like the guys to talk about! Email ideas to matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com!

What hangs us up from experiencing and practicing Biblical solitude? How can we practice this?
This week the guys spend some time discussing the upcoming sabbatical for the Roberts family and summer plans for The District Church.
Do you have anything you would like the guys to discuss in the coming weeks? Send suggestions or questions to matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com.
Who is Darci Peniston? The Easter Bunny? A wife? A friend? YES.
The guys loved having a conversation with Darci! We pray this conversation blesses you.
This week the guys discuss a new survey covering some of the religious beliefs of Americans. Click here to access the information!
Is this information surprising? How should we interact with the results?
This week the guys discuss Holy Week and what will be thinking on during that time. Good Friday is on the horizon, and Easter is hiding behind! (Only a little bit of sad March Madness thoughts)
What are you thinking about this Holy Week? ...The historical obscurity of Jesus' death? ...Jesus' inner life as the cross approached?
The guys found a minute with JB Brown, Associate Minister at Dearing Christian Church in Dearing, KS to have a conversation. JB led a youth group to Delano over their Spring Break to help us do some projects around the building.
Friendship, manhood, football, this conversation has it all! We pray that this discussion blesses and challenges you!
This week Travis sat down with Brady and Aaron to discuss their stories and how Jesus called them to Himself. Is Brady Superman?
Do you know your story? Do you know how to verbalize it? What God has done in you is intended to be shared with others... your life can encourage and lead others to Jesus. If you don't know your story, reach out to matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com and we would love to sit down with you!
This week Travis sits down with Eli Bayless to discuss discipleship.
What is Eli's full name? Do you have a nickname you'd like to crown him with? We pray this episode will be an encouragment for you as you pursue Jesus and others.
This week the guys discuss the upcoming series Rise and Fall: the Story of King David. Why are we spending so much time looking at David? Should we copy David?
David is remembered as a man after God's own heart, even though he continually made huge mistakes... we are excited to learn more about God in the example of a broken man.
This week the guys had the opportunity to sit down with Josh Gores, one of the pastors of Riverlawn Christian Church. Josh is a jack of all trades, and is one of the leading voices in the church planting network that The District is a part of.
Who is Josh? What does Gospel Saturation look like? How are we trying to work with other churches to accomplish this task? We pray this unscripted conversation will be a blessing to you!
This week the guys discuss the idea of "mobilization" and how we, as the church, are called and equipped to be a force on the move.
Instead of a Sunday-centric, come-and-see theology, how do we adopt an everyday-centric, go-and-tell theology? There are some great examples of people in our local community that do this really well, and many of us that want to do better!
How do we join one another as we move from being the gathered church to the scattered church? Hopefully this conversation helps to begin answering that question!
This week Travis and Aaron Pew sat down with a good friend from The District, Luke Knolla!
Who is Luke? Did he write the Gospel of Luke? Did he invent pizza? Listen and find out!
This week the guys apologize for failing to upload a podcast last week. Then they discuss the transformative nature of the Gospel. How does Jesus transform our identity? How does transformed identity change our behavior? How are identity and behavior connected? How are they different?
We pray this week's podcast will be an encouragement and a challenge to you!
This week the guys discuss our newest class coming on January 21st: District 101.
What is it? Should you take it? What's next?
After an absent week the guys return with a discussion about a slew of things: New Years' Resolutions (or lack thereof), fasting, and a whole lot else.
We pray that this conversation meets you with a word of encouragement and, perhaps, a godly challenge!
Merry Christmas! This week the guys sit down with some District Kids (Emma, Calvin, Isabella, and Londyn). Saddle up for an up and down telling of the story of Christmas!
The guys record the first podcast in the new building. This week we discuss Christmas, final touches on the building, and delve into some conversation on why we do what we do.
As promised, click here for the link to the Saturate podcast.
This week the guys have a guest host: Nichole Roberts! After a long, arduous, and unnecessary conversation on TJ's Burgers (again), our three voices answer the question, "what are you learning about parenting right now?"
What do you think about arugula? Have you slowed down enough to ask what God is teaching you lately?
This week the guys talk about the Advent season to discuss our first sermon on hope and the second topic: love.
If you have any questions or topics that you want the guys to discuss another time, email matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com.
This week the guys discuss the advent season and our first week - hope. What is hope? How does hope fit into the advent season?
We pray that your Thanksgiving week has been a blessing and that this conversation will challenge you to think about Jesus as the Christmas season begins.
This week the guys discuss the perils and opportunities of moving into a new building and permanently placing our feet in Delano. How to we keep from being consumed by up-keeping a new resource? How do we utilize our new space to draw one another closer to Jesus?
We pray that this conversation and Brady's handsome voice are a blessing to you this week!
This week, the guys had the long-awaited opportunity to sit down with the man, the myth, the legend, Robert Beard.
We hope that you learn about martial arts, Ireland, music, and whatever else (hopefully a lot of Jesus) that comes up in this conversation that forms us.
This week the guys give an update on the rooted campaign, answering questions like, "where are we on fundraising?" and "what is next?"
God is moving and we are grateful to be a part of what is going on in this neighborhood and this city. We pray that this episode of The District Church Podcast will encourage you to take whatever step is next in chasing after Jesus and the people around you. Please let us know how we can support you as you try to make disciples in your everyday life!
This week Matt and Brady follow up last weeks sermon (click here) about the reliability of the Bible. This week, the guys get the opportunity to answer the question, "What would it look like if I lived as though the Bible is reliable?"
We pray that some of the testimony and suggestions of the guys helps you to approach the Bible more often and with deeper affection. Feel free to reach out to matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com if you would like to continue this discussion for you!
If you didn't get to listen to it last year, here are the guys' thoughts on Halloween as well! Click here.
This week the guys get the opportunity to talk with a good friend, Clint Harden. Do you like birding? Aldi? Remember Tiger King?
Get to know Clint a little better if you don't know him too well and sit with us as he shares what it has looked like for him to process the passing of his father over the last couple years.
This week the guys (mostly Travis because Matt is sick) explain some big news for The District Church. Where have we been? Where are we going?
If you missed the Town Hall meeting yesterday, listen to hear the big news. If you didn't miss the the meeting, listen to hear more details and thoughts!
This week the guys discuss the next topic that was tackled in our Explore God series: "Is Christianity too Narrow?"
A big thanks to Eli Bayless for preaching this last Sunday! If you didn't get to hear it, click here.
This week the guys got a chance to sit down with almost all of the staff during their staff retreat. We hope you enjoy this very unscripted conversation with the people who help lead our church!
This week Travis abandons the podcast. Matt and Brady Roberts take some time to answer a significant question from a dear friend in Brady's hub...
“If we were created to know and love God, why did God give us free will? Why give us the choice and then punish those who don’t follow Him?”
If you have more big questions that you would like to hear the guys attempt to answer, email Matt! matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com
This week the guys had the opportunity to hang out and have a discussion with Aaron Pew. Have you met Aaron? I bet you have. Here's more of his story and heart!
P.S. we learned some new words... what is a cinefile? what does punching mean? (you are probably wrong) What about clipping?
This week the guys explore the topic of truth. What is truth? Is all truth equal?
In what area is your mind made up? And where is God moving you to grow in certainty, or rethink what you believe?
As we wrap up our journey of roaming through the book of Romans, the guys take some time to reflect upon what has stuck out most.
What has stuck out to you in the book of Romans this year?
This week the guys discuss what it means to be the scattered church on mission.
Send any questions or other topics you would like to hear discussed to matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com
This week the guys discuss the plan after Romans. We have been studying Paul’s letter for almost 9 months… what’s next??
Click here to check out the framework for the next series we are going to be getting into!
Hub sign-ups are open! This week the guys discuss the importance of deep community within the body of Christ. If you have not gotten connected with a hub yet, click here!
If you have questions about hubs and are unsure where to try out, contact Matt at matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com!
After a one week hiatus, the conversation is back! This week the guys let Romans 14 lead the discussion. When reading this passage there is a temptation to quickly pass it over, or use this chapter as a stick with which to hit others.
What does it mean to not judge? What does it mean when we are told to not be a stumbling block for a weaker brother or sister? How does Paul describe someone with weaker faith?
Over 6 months ago, the guys sat down with Justus Kauffman to talk about new faith. Since then, Justus has had a baby girl and made the decision to get baptized and give his life to Jesus. This week, the guys had the chance to follow up with Justus and hear what that journey has looked like.
Polymath - noun. "A person of wide-ranging knowledge or learning."
μαθητής (mathētēs) - noun. "A learner, pupil, disciple."
This week the guys discuss what it looks like to follow Jesus as a learner. Checkered with a few rabbit trails, this discussion centers around what God has been teaching Matt and Travis, and how each of them pursues answers to their questions, and the questions of others. Following Jesus means continually growing in knowledge and obedience.
How do you learn best? What has God been putting in front of you, so that you can grow in your understanding of this world and how it points to Him?
“You will become way less concerned with what other people think of you when you realize how seldom they do.” - David Foster Wallace
This week the guys discuss insecurity and how it influences our relationship with Jesus. Does it comfort that others look at you less than you think? Why? Why not? It is only when we have an appropriate view of self and Jesus that we can walk the way that He has created us.
This week the guys sit down to discuss a book that they have both read recently, Atomic Habits by James Clear. Full disclosure: Matt listened to the audiobook (in case you are a stickler on what constitutes having read a book).
How do this book's secular research and conclusions lead to a better understanding of how to follow Jesus? Listen and hear the guys' thoughts!
Click here for a link to Atomic Habits.
This week the guys had the opportunity to sit down with pastor and church planter in Independence, Missouri. From Wichita, Alex Gilpin and his family moved to Missouri, eventually planting a church outside of the Kansas City area. We hope you enjoy this conversation with a brother and friend!
If you would like to learn more about Revive Church, click here to visit their website!
This week the guys sit down with a very special guest, Auna Cantril. If you have never heard Auna's story, you should. Having grown up in the church, she expresses what it took for her to find freedom from life with an eating disorder. We are grateful for the candid nature with which she shared her story and pray that this conversation is an encouragement for you and raises questions, comments, and rejoicing in Jesus.
If you would like more information from Auna or would like to talk to her about your story, feel free to reach out at cantrilauna@gmail.com. She would happily receive any messages, questions, or an opportunity to sit and hear your story!
As always, if you have questions that you would like the guys to address, please email matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com or travis@thedistrictchurchwichita.com!
This week the guys discuss the necessity of continually taking the next step in following Jesus. After a couple of baptisms and a few more coming in the near future, it should remind us that, much like marriage, saying "I do" is only the beginning!
What is your next step when it comes to following Jesus personally? What is your next step on a corporate level?
As always, send any questions or suggestions to matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com or travis@thedistrictchurchwichita.com!
This week the guys take a look at a news headline. Boycotts, blow horns, and boisterous bantering has filled the political scene over a few headline issues. In particular, the question has been repeatedly ask: how do we respond to the recent activity at Target?
Travis and Matt discuss their response, by going beyond the surface. What were you called to? What was your original confession? What is your worldview?
This week the guys make a gallant attempt to let you know what this summer is going to look like at The District Church. We have events and opportunities for all to connect! Matt and Travis might have a case of summer brain, however, because this one was certainly unscripted.
Did Travis have frosted tips as a teenager? (YES) What is famous person that Auna continually compared Matt to last week? (Not Denzel)
This week the guys have a familiar voice on the podcast. Brady Roberts joins to discuss how life looks a year after he stepped out of vocational ministry at the church. Listen as he shares some of the ups and downs of starting a new business with his wife, Nicole (not to be mistaken with Nichole), and how they continue to live a life of ministry.
Click here to take a look at the blog article that Brady wrote on the same topic a few months ago.
P.S. listen until the end and hear the voice of special guest, Linda Roberts.
This week, our conversation looks a little different! Matt spends a few minutes reading an article from our church blog. The title of this article, "Friendship: How We Make Disciples," is at the heart of how God has wired us as individuals and as a church!
If you haven't gotten a chance to check out the blog, click here! We all need to grow in some areas as followers of Jesus and this is one area by which we want to equip one another to follow Him more effectively!
Click here for the link to the blog.
Last week, the Surgeon General of the United States, Dr. Vivek H. Murthy, published a public health declaration entitled, "Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation." Read here. The guys take some time to discuss the topic of loneliness, the itch that the Gospel alone can scratch, and our role in combatting social isolation.
What does our nature tell us about community and loneliness? Has this issue come out of nowhere? Why do the replacements of deep connection we choose fail to meet our needs?
This week the guys reflect on a couple of ideas. Sit with us and think about the book of Romans, our collective outlook on life, and what it looks like to continually focus deeper attention on the things directly in front of us.
Are you more inclined to live a life filled with tasks, thoughts, and relationships that are a mild wide and an inch deep, or an inch deep and a mile wide? Are deep, open friendships a significant aspect of your life? Who are the people that encourage and push you deeper to Jesus?
P.S. You'll never guess what is in Travis' giant water bottle.
Travis read a book! (Try not to read that as a sarcastic barb.) “Deep Work” by Cal Newport is the topic of discussion for the guys this week.
Do you spend much of your time chasing fires to put out and trying to multitask? How faithful are you to slow down and spend time focusing on the denser aspects of life and God?
This week the guys discuss the significance and centrality of humility in following Jesus. Andrew Murray's book (click here) has been a hugely important resource for both Travis and Matt. This time around they discuss what true humility looks like.
Is your life marked by humility? Are you guilty of living as a victim, in a negative version of pride? What does it mean to view others as more important than ourselves (see Phil. 2)?
Holy Week has come and gone. Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter have been celebrated and observed. This week the guys discuss Easter and why the Resurrection had to happen, and what the most common theories against the Resurrection are.
What does it mean if the Resurrection didn't happen? Does the flag of your faith fly on the reality of the empty tomb? Paul seemed to believe that the physical Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the hinge-point of Christianity. Do you?
Following the tragic school shooting in Nashville, the guys sit down to discuss some of the responses they have seen. How do we handle politics when the issue goes so much deeper? Is there a time and place for "thoughts and prayers," or do we hide behind the sentiment in order to make ourselves feel better for inaction?
The guys haven't gotten a chance to sit down and record something for a few weeks, so this time around they catch up and then focus on a topic that is close to our hearts: ministry as a team sport. We are not called to follow Jesus alone and we are unable to love and serve people without one another.
As mentioned in the podcast, click here to read Brady Roberts' blog post "Full-Time Ministry."
True or false: Your circumstances define you.
In today's devotion, we take a look at how faith is more formational than circumstances. Look with us today at Romans 4 and Psalm 62. Let's learn to "live by faith" not just understand it.
This week the guys discuss the two-sided nature of faith. How does Paul discuss justification by faith alone while James makes it very clear that works are a central part of faith? Is this a contradiction or a paradox?
We pray that this discussion will inform you and encourage your heart! If you make it all the way to the end, you will hear Travis' newest dad joke... "What is a DJ's favorite sauce?"
The District Church established our first elders on Sunday, February 5th, 2023. Having interviewed Derek Surdez a few weeks ago (listen here) and Jason Lavendar a week later (listen here), the guys had the opportunity to sit down with Mark Cathey. Did you know that Mark was in the Navy? Were you aware that Harolyn is a prankster? We pray that this would open a door to get to know the Catheys better and draw you closer in communion with Jesus.
This episode is part one of two short devotionals on the question, How do I walk the Extraordinary Path of following Jesus as an Ordinary Christian? The first attribute that Matt will expose is faithfulness!
As you attempt to follow Jesus are you better described as friendly or a faithful friend? Our capacity to love and influence others for Jesus is amplified exponentially if we are able to be good friends, but it is greatly hindered if we are unable to be faithful and loyal friends. What kind of friend are you?
This episode is part one of two short devotionals on the question, How do I walk the Extraordinary Path of following Jesus as an Ordinary Christian? The first attribute that Matt will expose is willingness!
As you try to follow Jesus can you be described as willing? Isaiah volunteered to be sent when God was looking for a mouthpiece... are you looking for ways to be sent?
Let's try something different! Matt walks us through a couple of Psalms to ask one primary question: What is the thing(s) in your life that is keeping others from seeing Jesus?Psalm 19:12-14Psalm 139:23-24Things Unseen with Sinclair B. Ferguson
The District Church established our first elders on Sunday, February 5th, 2023. Having interviewed Derek Surdez last week (listen here), the guys were blessed to bring Jason Lavendar into Matt's basement to get to know him a little better.
This conversation has it all: Jason's testimony of faith, soccer comments and questions from two people that don't know anything about soccer, and comments on discipleship. What else could you ask for?
The District Church established our first elders on Sunday, February 5th, 2023. The guys thought that this would be an awesome opportunity to sit down with Dr. Derek Surdez. If you have not met him before, we pray that this unscripted conversation would be the first step in a relationship with Derek. If you have met Derek, we pray that this short interview would lead to the next steps in your deepening relationship with him.
You may have already known that Derek is a husband, father, and physician, but were you aware of his brief stint as an Avon cosmetics salesperson? Press play and buckle up for more information about our dear friend.
As always, if you have extra questions for the guys to address in later episodes feel free to email travis@thedistrictchurchwichita.com or matt@thedistrictchurchwichita.com.
At the District Church we believe that God is calling us to focus on being a people of the Word and a people of prayer in 2023. That is always our goal, but we feel the conviction to hone in on these two identifiers this year. What will that look like? What has led to this decision?
We hope this unscripted conversation will encourage you and help to push you in your walk with Jesus!
BONUS POINTS: if you can remind Travis of what Matt thinks he wants to talk about when we roam away from Romans, Travis would happily give you $5.
This week, the guys sat down with our Worship Leader, Hannah Harden, to learn more about the person who helps us sing to Jesus each week and the heart behind that time. Prepare yourself to learn more about Hannah and feel the palpable tension between two KU Basketball fans and a Wildcat.
Will Hannah yell at Travis? Will Matt sing? You will have to listen to find out!
As we practice our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting the guys sit down to discuss fasting. Why does God call us to fast? What does it look like to fast, Biblically? Is all fasting spiritual?
We pray that this conversation will be an encouragement as you pursue Jesus through everyday practices!
Happy New Year! The guys take some time to answer a few questions this week:
What did God teach you last year?
What do you suspect God is going to be teaching you this year?
What are you reading this year?
We hope you enjoy this unscripted conversation and pray that it would encourage you to reflect on these questions for yourself!
The District Church Podcast is giving you the Christmas gift that you didn't know you needed. One of the first things we tried to record for the pod turned into a silly conversation about geography.
We hope you enjoy this incredibly unscripted conversation!
The guys get a chance to sit down with Justus Kauffman to discuss his journey in faith and what it looks like to start following Jesus. This refreshing discussion is replete with humility, exercise analogies, and bookending dad jokes. Tired of hearing Travis talking about running his half marathon? That's why there is a button that lets you skip 30 seconds forward! If you want to know more about Justus' Chiropractic Practice, Auxoma, click here.
Everybody seems to have an issue with the Bible. Is it reliable? Trustworthy?
How do we know that the Bible is God's Word and we should place our trust in what it says? This week the guys dig a little deeper into some numbers and facts, take a look at this chart for some extra guidance!
On the heels of our sermon series on the Holy Spirit, the guys took some time to discuss what it looks like to walk in intimacy with God. Have you trapped yourself into thinking that following a formula will bring you closer to God? Do you know how to practice the presence of God? Have you grown discouraged in your attempts to grow closer to God?
Intimacy with God is one of the deepest gifts of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and His indwelling Holy Spirit in the Christian. If we long to know God and experience the saturation of His love in our lives, we must grow in intimacy with Him.
The guys were blessed to add a third voice to answer a listener question this week. Welcome to the pod, Eli Bayless. Strap in as these three sit in for a longer, unscripted conversation on what Biblical friendship looks like. How do we understand how to depend upon God and people, rather than being co-dependent upon others and independent of God?
Make it all the way to the end and you will learn Eli's life motto.
With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, the guys took the opportunity to slow down and discuss what it looks like to celebrate this holiday every day. Our Lord calls us to be perpetually thankful, but what does that look like? How does an attitude of thankfulness lend itself to growing in our discipleship? Why is walking in thankfulness a practice of defiance against the world around us? What are these two fools thankful for this year?
As promised, here is the Youtube video of the thankful little girl.
This week, the guys answer a question sent in: "how do we build a biblical culture in our homes?" How do we implement formal and informal discipleship in our homes?
As mentioned, attached are the books listed:
Family Discipleship by Adam Griffin and Matt Chandler
Families where Grace is in Place by Jeff VanVonderen
Family on Missionby Mike and Sally Breen
The Shepherd Leader at Home by Timothy Witmer
Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham
Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp
The guys take a break from heavier-hitting topics and sermon discussions to give you a more full introduction to Matt. Who is that guy?
As always, please send any questions or requests for topics to travis@thedistrictchurchwichita.com!
Within the Church we tend to fall on one of two sides of the fence: ignore the third person of the Trinity, or let our imagination take us beyond Scripture's scope. At The District Church, we want to fight against both of those urges and have a Biblically informed perspective of the Holy Spirit that drives us to follow Him and walk according to His ways.
This week, Travis and Matt talk candidly about their interactions with the Holy Spirit and their experience watching others try to interact with Him as well. Admittedly, oftentimes trying to comprehend the Holy Spirit can get a little...weird.
Join us as we venture to be further formed into the likeness of Christ through this unscripted conversation!
Responding to the first listener question, the guys address how they interact with the Halloween festivities.
What is its origin? Should we receive, reject or redeem Halloween? As Christians, it is our job to have thoughtfully arrived at convictions and a continually clarifying worldview.
Enjoy this bonus episode and please send in your questions or suggestions for topics to travis@thedistrictchurchwichita.com!
Halloween is a spooky month. This week, the guys discuss what they are most afraid of. Snakes. Failure. Planting a church?
Fear can be a deterrent, a motivator, and a gracious gift from God.
Travis learned about the newest social media app on Saturday Night Live this last weekend. After 53 million people installed the app, the guys decided to ask some deeper questions about the itch that the company BeReal is attempting to scratch with its slogan, "Not another social network."
Further questions to be answered: How old is Matt really? If there is no camera to catch Travis on his phone, is he still on his phone? Does anyone read podcast episode descriptions?
The 5-year anniversary of The District Church's planting is October 15th. To celebrate we got the original planters (Travis, Nichole, Brady and Nicole Roberts) in a room to tell some stories and reflect upon the last 5 years.
What happens when Matt and Travis try to operate technology? A conversation comes to a screeching halt midway through a thought. In this short BONUS EPISODE we get a quick look into the cutting room floor of the most recent sermon from the Live No Lies series, The Slavery of Freedom, and we learn what is in Travis's Starbucks cup. Hint, it is kind of coffee.
Here is the description from this week's sermon:
"To follow Jesus is to resist the desires of the flesh and live in the new desires of the Holy Spirit. Our habits formed around the flesh will bring slavery while our habits created by the Holy Spirit will bring freedom. "
The second week of the Live No Lies sermon series brings more discussion from the cutting floor. If you haven't heard the sermon, check out The Truth About Lies pt. II.
Here is the description from the sermon:
"There is a devil, and he uses lies to destroy everything. It’s done with deceptive ideas that play to disordered hearts that are normalized in a sinful society. In our second message of Live No Lies, we’re going to look at that first conversation: where Adam and Eve talk with a certain serpent. Tons for us to learn here. We’re going to talk about how we are transformed by the Spirit and truth, and destroyed by isolation and lies."
This episode of The District Church Podcast is zeroing in on the sermon series "Live No Lies." The guys dig deeper into the foundations of this series and the frameworks discussed in the first sermon, The Truth About Lies pt. I.
Here is a description from the first sermon:
"The lies we believe are dangerous. But the lies we live are deadly. It may be time to admit we’re in a spiritual war. So how do we move forward? In this series we’ll learn how to recognize the lies you not only believe, but might be living. And resist the forces that seek to steal your joy, wholeness, holiness and peace in Christ."
