In this episode, Jenasae Bishop tells the story of revival in her life after college, and how God has revealed her purpose in a dream. We talk spiritual warfare and the battlefield of the mind, what it's like to deal with mental health and potential self-harm, and her prayer community has changed her outlook on things.

I love how Jenasae brings her real self to God and to others. Her story will cause many people to lean in ... and many of you will say, "me too". Her basketball credentials were cut short by a multiple concussions on the court. She credits her college coach as one who stepped in and cared for her more than her playing career to help her get on the right track and see her purpose was greater than basketball. I was fortunate to see Jenasae (Lae) go from a quiet, curious. fly on the wall to one who pursued her relationship with God and wanted to bring others with her on the journey! She's a blessing, and can't wait for you to hear our conversation!!

Grief and celebration. What does this look like? Let's talk about what it looks like to be a good friend!

One of my favorites, Gabie Markley, is on the podcast today and I couldn't be happier! We sat down and chatted about embracing the journey, being a good friend, grief and celebration... and what this has looked like in the loss of her dad. We have a lot of edited bloopers, this is how much fun we had recording this conversation ... and we talk about Job and how his friends walked alongside him through loss in good and bad ways.

Gabie is one of the most well-rounded athletes I know that I have mentored. As a heptathlete, she did seven events in outdoor track at Wright State. You can find her at a coffee shop or on a hiking trail on a day off. And, she and I both smile big over the mention of our 1 yr old nieces. It's so good!!

Walk for Life on April 29th: Sponsor Me as a Walker Here

Every year, the Walk for Life is such a fun event you can bring the whole family to! This year the Walk will be held on Saturday, April 29, once again starting at SouthBrook Christian Church and proceeding around the campus of Dayton Christian School. Check-in will begin at 10 am, and – new this year – those who are done checking in, join us for praise and worship in the Main Theater at 10:30! The program will officially begin at 10:45, and the Walk will conclude by or before noon.

The Walk is our second-biggest event each year and provides the funds needed to continue doing what we’re called to do: rescue babies from abortion while offering moms and dads practical help and gospel hope. Would you consider getting your family and church involved to help raise $250,000?

I'll be walking the 2 miles on April 29th at Dayton Christian School - if you'd like to sponsor me, give any amount at my Fundeasy Link!! My goal is $500.

Join us: Faith Osbourne, a senior at Asbury University, shares stories from what God is doing at Asbury and talks about what she sees in this generation of young people & college students ... and why they were hungry to text their friends, to come back, and to stay at the chapel for 16 days and nearly 400 hours!!

Watching students worship God around the clock in a sincere and beautiful way got me really curious about what was happening in that chapel. We want to tell the story of what God was doing, why students are hungry for Jesus, and what's next.

I am in-person with Madison Mathis, also known as Maddie Hartman. Maddie is one of my favorite girls to talk with about life, faith, dating and relationships. Maddie played softball at Wright State from 2018-2020, as a shortstop on the team, where we met through Athletes in Action. She met her husband Brock Mathis in high school and they dated throughout college, dating long-distance. Brock played D1 Baseball, primarily as a catcher for Oklahoma State. The married couple currently live in Lebanon, Ohio.

Maddie has become a fun friend and is the kind of gal that you'd want to hang out with and chat!! She knows the best coffee shops, has great style, and loves people super well. It's your lucky day, because she is sharing her story of dating and relationships, including how she found her identity, and her recently married backstory. Hold on tight, and consider stopping thru a Dunkin's to pick up your favorite drink while we have this coffee talk. We'd be glad you did!!

Happy New Year, Friends! I’m pumped to start 2023 by welcoming you to a really cool podcast episode of Priceless Backstories.

Today on the show … you’ll get to hear a special conversation with 3 X Olympic Gold Medalist, Leah O’Brien Amico. Have you been asked the question: if you could have a meal with anyone you want in this lifetime who has inspired you… who would it be and why? No doubt, Leah would be at the top of my list!!

As a teenager, I played centerfield in travel ball and competed with some of the best in the state of Ohio to prepare for college softball. I looked up to talented players, like Dot Richardson, Leah O’Brien, and Laura Berg … all who were outfielders on the Olympic Softball Team. I wanted to be like them!!

Well… little did I know that at the age of 40, while visiting Jason’s family in California over Thanksgiving, I would have the opportunity to hang out at a coffee shop and have conversation with Leah Amico. This was an opportunity of a lifetime for me. And Friends, it was the best!!

Leah is a professional and inspirational speaker and the Host of the Gold Standard Podcast. If you have seen the college softball world series on TV, you may have seen Leah announcing play by play on the softball field. She is a friend of Athletes in Action, a member of our AIA Hall of Faith, and a friend of the Podcast. Happy New Year to you, and enjoy my much anticipated podcast conversation with Leah Amico.

Tis the season for serving and making an impact!! Today on the show, I get to talk with my friend Kris Horlacher. Kris is doing incredible things in the Dayton area, as she is the founder and executive director of Shoes 4 the Shoeless. I am overwhelmed when thinking of all the kids at or below the poverty line and full of joy with how these kids have been impacted by receiving socks and shoes at their school through Kris and her Team.

What's it take to make this happen?? All Kris needs is half a million dollars a year and 500 volunteers a month - I have personally volunteered half a day and served with Shoes 4 the Shoeless and meeting these kids. What you do is sign up for a day, they place you on a team for the day at a school in your area, aynd when you arrive that day, Kris will brief you as a group on how to measure a kid's foot and pick out shoes and socks that's best for the kid you are helping. I can't get over seeing many kids arriving to us with their heads down, small shoes, needing new socks... and after 15 mins with them, many are jumping up in down in their new shoes or taking a lap around the gym with smiles on their face.

So glad to have Kris on the show to hear her backstory of how this all got started and how God is at work. She makes the world a better place, and I can’t think of a better way to move into the New Year from the holiday season than talking all things faith, fun, healthy living, and reaching our communities, than with Kris.

Check out Shoes for the Shoeless and how to apply/sign up to volunteer here.

I met Tanya through Athletes in Action, during my senior year of softball at Wright State. She continues to be a role model in my life - and genuinely lives out her faith with laughter and tears. This was a hilariously fun conversation to record, as well as a tough conversation to record. I am super grateful to give you access to this conversation of two friends who share in this space of what it's like to journey cancer in community.

Here's Tanya's Website: tanyamotorin.com

Hey- I’m Tanya Motorin. I am a life-long learner and lover of Jesus. I’m wired to engage with people, hear their stories and share mine. I’m a wife who went all the way to Kazakhstan to find my husband, Nikita. Together, we have three amazing children who are the best and worst of us. It is our great privilege to point them to Jesus and show them what His love looks like. Of course we fail daily, but I am thankful that God even uses our brokenness to teach those around us about his grace. I am one of those annoying people who loves what I do for a living and my husband and I count it a privilege to serve the athletic community at UCLA and the LA coastline, through the ministry of Athletes in Action. I love expressing myself through writing, teaching, creating, organizing, and cooking. Whenever I’m not cheering my kids on at their sporting events and spending too much money at TARGET, I enjoy traveling, going to the beach, camping, hiking, playing “Make Me Laugh,” and watching a good movie. My amazing husband, Nikita and I live in Mar Vista, California with our daughters Hope and Sophia, our son Zion, our Chiweenie, Daisy, and hamster, Seymour.

Publisher Wanted: Are you (or do you know) a publisher wanting to take a look at Tanya's new book?? She's waiting to be discovered by a publisher!! Here is the name of her most recent book... "Covered: My Breast Cancer Story & Practical Insight for Yours". Contact Tanya here!!

Stacey and I talk favorite sports moments, roadtrips, movies, music early on. Stacey is so natural at sharing her story of identity as a child born with cleft lip and palate, undergoing multiple surgeries, playing college basketball and journey of finding herself, her faith in God, identity, and her purpose. It's quite a conversation!!

Stacey's Book: "Deeper than the Scars" earned 4.5 stars on Amazon - and is a great compilation of stories and themes of her life experiences. She naturally shares how God's word and certain verses impacted her in turning points of her journey. If you have a teenage girl or know a college girl, you'll definitely want to get a copy for them. If you know or have a child with a cleft lip or born with a physical disability, this is a great book for you. I've personally underlined multiple pages of this book. It's genuinely spoken to my heart by the life lessons and quotes from what she's learned and experienced in her life and how relevant it is to my life!! It's reminded me of who I am in Christ and how God sees me!! If you want/need a real story based on identity, this book is also for you!!

You can find and purchase her book Deeper Than the Scars on Amazon here.
