Omnipod is a tubeless insulin pump. Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetics who must take insulin use syringes or Insulin pumps with tubes connecting the pump, worn outside of clothing to a needle in the Diabetic.
Omnipod is the first tubeless Insulin pump that connects to the skin using medical adhesive like a CGM. Omnipod contains insulin, a needle, and Bluetooth connectivity. It is controlled using a Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM).
The most exciting development is integration of Omnipod with Dexcom G6 & G7 CGMs. This allows for Blood Glucose readings by the CGM to automatically trigger administration of Insulin.

Celiac Disease is a long-term autoimmune disorder, primarily affecting the small intestine, where individuals develop intolerance to gluten. Gluten is present in foods such as wheat, rye and barley.[1] The impact of this damage is impaired absorption of nutrients from food and drink and can lead to a wide range of collateral symptoms and long-term health complications.
Classic symptoms include gastrointestinal problems such as chronic diarrhea, abdominal distention, malabsorption, loss of appetite, and among children failure to grow normally. Non-classic symptoms are more common, especially in people older than two years. There may be mild or absent gastrointestinal symptoms, a wide number of symptoms involving any part of the body or no obvious symptoms. Celiac disease was first described in childhood; however, it may develop at any age. It is associated with other autoimmune diseases, such as Type 1 diabetes mellitus and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, among others. [2] As with Diabetes, the lifelong presence of Celiac is an emotional, mental, and physical stress. If you have Celiac disorder, you may suffer Celiac Distress and Burnout with similar symptoms and manifestation as Diabetes Distress and Diabetes Burnout. Much of the stress comes from the need to continuously monitor what is consumed to avoid Gluten. Bread made with wheat flour clearly contains Gluten.
Condiments such as Soy Sauce and Teriyaki Sauce historically are made with wheat and also contain Gluten and will create an allergic reaction. They are referred to as Hidden Gluten.
The challenges and stresses are similar to Diabetes Distress and Diabetes Burnout and may have similar effects on caregivers.
Journaling is a conversation with myself through what I write in my journal. I write at the start and end of every day. It is a very therapeutic exercise that started at the beginning of July and has become an integral part of my daily routine. Most recently this dialogue has helped me through the emotional ups and downs of the longest episode of Diabetes Burnout I have encountered so far.

Diabetes Distress and Diabetes Burnout represent ongoing emotional and mental challenges in the face of a condition that requires continuous monitoring of blood sugars, food and drink, exercise, and other life stye challenges.
Caregivers interact with the Diabetic daily and are impacted by the Diabetic’s needs, mood, and emotions.
In most cases, the caregiver is a family member or partner who almost invariably has no medical or professional caregiver background. Diabetic Distress is unfortunately a part of the care giver’s experience when they are closely involved with a Diabetic.
A professional caregiver can detach from a patient after the appointment.
Diabetes Distress is the negative emotional experience of living with and managing diabetes. 1
Diabetes Distress isn’t the same as depression. Diabetes Distress is when a person feels frustrated, defeated or overwhelmed by diabetes. These feelings can come and go. It doesn’t mean that you have these feelings about other parts of your life.
Diabetes Distress can turn into depression if you have these feelings for a while and they aren’t going away. If you think you might be depressed, we have more information and support about depression to help you. You’re not alone in this. 2
Diabetes Burnout is the feeling of physical and emotional exhaustion due to the demands of living with, and managing diabetes. Diabetes is a condition requiring a person to engage in strict self-management, and an extensive medicinal regime.
Please remember, Diabetes Distress and Diabetes Burnout manifest differently for everyone. Once you are diagnosed as a diabetic your life changes and you need to understand your condition and how you are reacting to it.

Good Morning and Welcome,
I hope you are well. Diabetes Burn Out is a familiar occurrence to many diabetics.
It is a state of frustration and disillusionment as a result of being diabetic. Many Diabetes sufferers go through this. My feelings and burn out are not unique to me. Virtually all Diabetics go through Burn out from time to time.
Because Diabetes will be with me for the rest of my life, I have to recognize that:
· time,
· energy,
· thought and
· care
Are allocated on a daily basis and that regardless of why I am burned out I owe myself a duty of care equivalent to when I am not burned out.
The emotional, mental and financial drain can be onerous. Increased risk for depression, anxiety, and eating disorders may appear for Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetics.
Depression is one of the most serious mental health complications that can occur alongside Diabetes. It has recently been recognized as a distinct illness called Diabetes distress.
The risk of developing depression is two to three times higher in people with Diabetes. Some diabetic patients may feel burdened by the self-care demands of the disease, including the fear of complications, diet maintenance, and regular physical exercise. Having doubts about their level of care and accountability in managing their Diabetes can be distressing, which may lead to depression.[1]
I have started Journaling. Journaling is a written account of events and emotions that you experience. A journal can be as rough or complete as you choose. It may also be colourful, rather like a scrap book. I used to keep something like a journal on my computer. But I have stopped doing that in favour of a Caran d’Ache fountain pen and a Rhodia Web notebook.
In my latest book – Crohn’s, Celiac, Colitis, Diabetes, Stoicism and Journaling I go into Journaling as a tool to help with Diabetes Burn out and personal balance. As the book title implies, I write about Crohn’s, Celiac, and Colitis along with Diabetes. These conditions may occur with Diabetes, all are linked with Diabetes and sufferers may have to deal with more than once condition simultaneously.

Focused meditation is a lot easier than some other forms, especially if you use a concrete physical object to focus on.
You can use this object as an anchor, drawing you back into the present moment even as your thoughts try to pull you away.
This method of meditation is open-ended in the sense that there is no prescribed posture or object of focus. You can adapt it to meet your own needs. This meditation can be done in a variety of settings.
You can choose almost anything to meditate upon, including the waves of a river, a nearby tree, or your own hand. Wherever you are, you can sit and do a focused meditation.
If your mind does wander, simply come back to the practice and refocus.
As the name suggests, this practice is ideal for anyone who wants to sharpen their focus and attention.
Focused meditation is a lot easier than some other
forms, especially if you use a concrete physical object to focus on.
Be gentle with yourself as you practice and focus on something unique and
special.

Visualization and Activity Meditation can work together to form an extremely positive and effective combination.
Earlier we spoke about visualization and activity meditation in terms of lager physical activity such as walking the dog, cycling, or running etc.
But there are smaller things that work well together.
When I visualized being medication free that meant going from 2,000mg of Metformin, 4 x 500mg pills a day to Zero. That is unrealistic.
The Life Style changes I had to make had to become ingrained, and perpetual habits along with a gradual reduction in medication.
Visualizing a reduction in my medication in stages, along with the adoption of the Life Style Changes were the key to victory.
In this video I describe how I visualized reducing medication using a pill splitter. I purchased my pill splitter at a Pharmacy, but you can buy them on Amazon very cheaply.
Cutting a 500mg tablet into two 250mg tablets, and then crushing a 250mg piece into powder and sprinkling it on food helped me visualize the reduction of medication in a practical way. Sprinkling the powder on food helped me visualize not “taking a pill anymore.”
In the end, I went from 1 500mg pill twice a day, to none.
There are many ways to connect the mind and body through visualization and movement meditation to achieve a goal connected to diabetes.

Visualization can be greatly helped by including memories of places and events that have happened to us.
Wednesday evening as I was drifting off to sleep, by an open window and there was a rain storm outside.
I listened to the heavy rain falling on the trees outside, the roof, and how animals were experiencing the storm.
Cool breezes came in through the open window.
Thursday, it rained again but not so hard, and last night, Saturday, it rained again.
Each time the sound and experience of the storm was different.
If you are visualizing a storm as part of a meditation, recalling such memories can deepen and enrich the mediation.
In Canada, Father’s Day is celebrated June 16, Mother’s Day was on May 12.
Remember to honour and think about your father, and your mother on the appropriate day.
They were there when important events, large or small, took place in your life. They know your life’s history.

Visualization and Movement mediation can be greatly enhanced by correct instruction on how to carry out your chosen activity and having the correct equipment and supplies
An instructor can show you the most efficient, effective, and safest way of participating in your chosen motion.
For example, walking. We all know how to walk, place one foot in-front of the other, right? But a gait analysis and purchasing shoes to support and help the way you walk comfortably is a very sensible idea. As you progress and become more proficient with your movement, go back a little while later and have a new gait analysis completed to understand if anything has changed. Don’t forget to update your shoes often. Remember running shoes, or trainers, wear out and need to be replaced.
Visualize yourself using your new shoes and understanding how you walk. Then visualize walking faster or further to match your improved movement.

This was the second form of meditation I employed to remove negativity after my diagnosis. I use it today
as do many professional athletes.
Visualize positive outcomes. Professional athletes visual success and effective execution of their skills.
I used it to visualize becoming medication free. Pills could be cut in half, and two pulls could be one then
a half.
Finally there would be no pills at all.

Visualization and Movement mediation can come together in a very positive way.
On the lake there is a group of canoeists, if you listen, the instructor is giving direction but also visualization of what participants will be doing.
Instructions are a great help to Visualization. They create boundaries for movement, expectations, and a formula for executing movement.
As a spinning instructor, an event such as the Tour de France, a 21-day Cycling
Race around France provided a shared visualization for everyone in the class.
In the race there are 22 teams of 8 riders each. Some are specialists in mountain climbing, others in sprinting and others are generalists.
Adding tension to the spinning wheel made it harder to pedal. During a mountain stage we could visualize riding in the French Pyrenees. Reducing tension allowed us to visualize racing with the sprinters on flat sections.
Visualization and Movement mediation work very well together as there is good feedback between what you believe you are doing, or where you are when exercising and what you are actually doing.

Reiki helped me deal with the Negativity created by Diabetes.
We all have to manage negativity in our daily lives.
It may be created by people, places, our jobs, and many other daily life events. Some we can put out of our mind easily enough.
Diabetes is different. It a stress factor loaded with negativity that is always there. Medication has to be taken and Blood Glucose monitored. It seems to reversed.
Reiki is a guiding hand that helps dispel negativity and build confidence.

When I was first diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic it was a very dark time.
Reiki, I am a Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher and Practitioner, helped me greatly.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words, ‘Rei’ meaning spirit, miraculous, or divine and ‘Ki’ meaning gas, vital energy, breath of life, consciousness.
Ki can also refer to a person’s feelings, spirit, mood or frame of mind.
There are a number of other translations of ‘Reiki’ into English.
For ease of use, and because there is no generally agreed on replacement for the word ‘Reiki’ we will use it now.

A Tidy House – Clarity and Organization
Your emotional world and the people around you are a metaphor for the physical world of your room, the house or apartment in which you live.
This is time, as the summer draws to its last half for you to consider if there are people like clothes and furniture that should leave your world. You want things and people around you who are energetic, surprising, trustworthy, and stimulating for you.
Try sitting the place where you normally watch TV or read. Do not turn on the TV or pick up your book. Look around and see if everything you look at deserves to be in your life. How have your tastes changed? If a piece of furniture no longer interests you or serves a purpose, does it have any special meaning for you?
Now, close your eyes and “see” your space without each thing. How does it change your vision of your space? Is it better. Could you replace what is no longer suitable with something new, interesting and exciting to look at?
Now think of people in your life. Is the same true of the emotional world of people and friends. If you decide to let some people pass from your life, do not be harsh and judgmental. They have been good for you for the time they have been part of your life.
Even those who have been harsh and difficult for you, you have learned from the experience and now it is time to move on, just as you passed on the text book at school after you had finished the course.
Be clear in what you say to someone who is leaving your life. Learn from the experience of parting just as you learned from them being in hour life. Feel the burst of energy from the freedom of the change in the relationships in your life.
Lay of the Land – Ancestral Wisdom
Each of us has a life path to walk. The shaman can see our lives in the context of the path and our guides helping us meet the challenges we face and the successes and failures. The shaman sees the path is not smooth for some and like glass for others.
But beware, glass can be slippery, do not fall!
The shaman sees how our ancestors and how they play a part in our journey and how their experiences can guide you. The shaman sees that from time to time we need a mentor, someone who has trod the path similar to the one we are walking and can give guidance and help.
Now is the time to be open to those around us who can be our mentor and physical guide in this world. Now is the time to be open to the encouragement and help our guides and ancestors. Be open to change.
Remember, not all who walk a similar path to you will use all the gifts the path has to offer. There are plentiful gifts for you to collect and make use of. In the same way, you will not use all the gifts on your life path and in so doing you leave gifts for others. Listen to your mentor, your guide who has walked beside your path, and let them teach and encourage you.

Hello and welcome to the inaugural edition of Prevent and Reverse Type 2 Diabetes Naturally. I am Mark Ashford, I am your host, and I am a Type 2 diabetic.
My diabetes was diagnosed on December the 20th, 2022.
And as I record this inaugural edition of the podcast, it is August the 25th, 2023.
That period has been extremely short, some people would say, but it’s also been a period during which I’ve confronted many struggles, a few demons, and also a lot of success.
On December the 20th, 2022, I was prescribed 2000 milligrams of Metformin per day. That’s four 500 milligram tablets, two in the morning, two at lunchtime.
By the time I saw my doctor the next time in April 2023, she was able to reduce my prescription from 2000 milligrams a day of Metformin to 1000 milligrams per day of Metformin.
Now I’m lucky in that I have a doctor that is both interested in what I’m doing, the lifestyle changes that showed up in my blood work that allowed her to make the reduction. So, she is also a doctor who believes in no medication is the best medication. So, she is quite happy to reduce my prescription medication to 50% less than what it was when I started just four months ago, four months previously.
I met her again in early August, August the 20th actually. And once again, she was able to reduce my medication by another 50%.
So now I am down to one 500 milligram tablet of Metformin, which I take in the morning.
And hopefully by the end of November, early December of 2023, if things continue as they are, and I continue to make the changes, and I commit to the changes and keep those changes happening, she thinks that I may be able to come off Metformin altogether.
Two things have surprised me so far in this journey. One is the lifestyle changes that are necessary to allow me to make these changes so that I can reduce my medication.
But also, that none of the things that I’m doing are alien to me.
I’ve practised them all at different times in my life when I wanted to change up my diet, change up the way I’m living life, and I’m changing up things to reduce my weight, to make me feel happier, reduce the buzz that I get from sugar and those kinds of things. So my lifestyle changes really are also a reversion back to times when I considered that to be the best thing for me to do. And that is the strangest thing about this.
From my relationship or perspective on diabetes is not just in my current situation. My father in the last six or seven years of his life was diagnosed with diabetes. And this was in the 1960s and it was in the UK when there seemed to be less knowledge, less interest, less capability to deal with diabetes.
Certainly, he didn’t have any medication to take, which I have now. And I wear a continuous glucose monitor and he didn’t have anything like that. He used urine test strips to monitor his blood sugar levels.
I also had to think about how I viewed diabetes in that I also had since coming to Canada, known a couple of diabetics who had the classic diabetic complications. They had amputations, they had loss of vision, they had other things that are very significant in the way that they meet life and the way that they conduct themselves.
And to see them able to deal with these things’ radical changes in their ability to work and be happy and enjoy life was a dark period.
They’d navigated through it, but when you see a lot of the recommendations and a lot of the description of what diabetes leads to, it’s referred to as chronic, it’s progressive. Once you become diabetic, there’s no going back.
Because you can’t go back, what you’re struggling with day to day once you’ve been diagnosed diabetic is preventing yourself from becoming worse, not better.
The thing that struck me was that a lot of the websites, well not a lot of the websites, but some of them, even some of the quote official websites, they have C, cancer, the big letter C written all over them.
While my success so far is in reversing my type 2 diabetes, also you can prevent type two diabetes.
But these websites were plastered with words like remission and reversing diabetes is not possible.
Face it, what you’ve got to do is face it and stop yourself from becoming seriously ill and facing this loss of limbs, loss of functionality, loss of hope, in other words.
My first struggle was to get out of this dark space that I had gotten into. I even started to wonder whether my cat who is supposed to live a very long life would actually outlive me and how I would provide for her in my will.
I also wondered how I would feed her if I were in a wheelchair because I had had amputations.
All kinds of dark thoughts started to go through my mind and they were fed in part by these negative websites, this negative information. The first thing I had to do was obviously separate the old and outdated and negative views on diabetes treatment and existence from the new positive and proactive outlook.
I could see where my responsibility for my lifestyle changes started and that it would never end.
I knew that I had to make changes and the changes that I found documented were certainly durable because I’d already done them at different times in my life.
There was new knowledge and understanding of diabetes that had to be applied and I had decisions to make.
I also made the decision that to be successful at reversing my type 2 diabetes, my lifestyle changes had to be strictly applied.
I would probably say that I was hardcore and my ultimate goal was to be off Metformin, my diabetes medication and eventually to where a CGM continues glucose monitor, optionally.
However, during the period from April to August, I started to see my CGM as a tool, a positive tool, a tool that I might continue to wear even once I was off Metformin. And it would be a tool to monitor my glucose levels, what food I was eating, what it did to me, how my body responded and yes, there was also a sense of compromise. If I went to a celebration, I would recognize that having a slice of celebratory cake or something else at the meeting would be something that I could have, but it would not be something that I would continually have if that seems right.
Let’s say that it is right.
But in working on this section in the book that accompanies this podcast,
I have a section on experimenting with food. It’s the way I monitor and use the CGM to read and learn about the effect of food that I’m consuming on my blood glucose.
Obviously, there are foods that have sugar in them or high fructose corn syrup that I was simply not putting in my mouth to start with because of the effect they would have.
But looking at two things, for example, in that section on experimenting with food, there are pasta sauces with sugar in them and there is pasta with sugar in them. And combining one pasta sauce with one item of pasta, one product of pasta, you would actually have 10 grams of sugar in your intake.
Assuming, of course, that you order or you eat the recommended portion size. And that’s 10 grams of sugar, regardless of anything else on the table, any dessert, any sweet and coffee, anything else that you choose to eat, breads, crusty breads, things that might go very well with pasta and meat sauce.
So, you can quite easily digest or take in quite large amounts of sugar without even realizing it. And that was also a big learning experience.
And it leads to some of the habits for testing, how your body reacts or how my body reacted to food that I was eating and how my body turned it into sugar and glucose and how it affected my body.
My thoughts on reversing Type 2 diabetes are pretty straightforward. Anybody can do it as long as they have the will and the interest and the commitment. And I say interest because one of the other things that spun out of this was my relationship with medicine.
We tend to treat doctors rather like mechanics.
When something breaks or doesn’t perform well on our car, we take it to a mechanic and we expect a diagnosis and we expect options for how something can be repaired or replaced and we give an approval to have the work done. And then we drive away satisfied or I’d say satisfied that the work had resulted in the performance or corrected the defect that we had taken the car to the mechanic for. And medicine is something like that.
Another example, I wear my CGM, my continuous glucose monitors every day. And it’s the Abbott Freestyle, Freestyle, Libra 2 version and it lasts 14 days. At the end of 14 days, I apply a new one to my body and continue to meet and practise my discipline of taking readings constantly to see what the state of my glucose levels are and how foods or drinks that I’ve consumed are affecting me.
There are people that are prescribed CGM who don’t wear them, which means that they have no idea what level of, what their blood glucose levels are until they go back to the doctor and have more blood work done maybe three or four months from the previous reading. I can tell you where my blood glucose is constantly throughout the day, every day, and I make use of it. CGM is a valuable tool. Some people don’t. And some people will treat the medication, Metformin or whatever they’re taking as strictly a pill that will help them manage their diabetes without taking any responsibility or making any lifestyle changes to make it possible for them to eventually get off Metformin or whatever medication they’re taking.
These issues need to be dealt with because that’s the relationship you have with your doctor and the relationship you have with your own body. Because at the end of the day, if you do develop diabetic complications because you’ve ignored the results, you’ve ignored the tools that are provided for you, you are going to possibly have those serious consequences of having prosthesis instead of legs and feet and toes.
And you’re going to have to deal with the fact that your driving license is rescinded because you can no longer focus and see clearly.
So, let’s look on the positive side. There are a lot of good things that have come out of my experience and those are the things that I’ll pass on through this podcast and also updates and revisions to the accompanying book.
They are things that I want to describe to people, describe to you as the audience. And I do want to be helpful and share the information that I’ve learned and applied to my own success so far. I think it’s a very good indication that things are going in the right direction to, from December the 20th, 2022 to August the 25th, August the 20th, 2023, to have reduced my medication from 2000 milligrams a day to 500 milligrams a day. And the vision is very clear that I’ll be off Metformin and diabetic medications by the end of 2023. That’s my goal. That’s the goal that I want to share with you. And it’s how I get there. This is my journey. This is my perspective.
But anybody can follow these suggestions and recommendations. They can see the evidence that I provide on how success or things are and how things are going.
And since I got past the dark and old negative views of diabetes, things have been very much better, much brighter, much more hopeful.
And that is the message that ultimately, I want to give to all of my subscribers that there is a strong sense of hope, there’s a strong sense of commitment and accomplishment and things will go right.
But you have to take responsibility and you have to commit to making the changes that will allow your body to recover because that’s what it’s doing. It’s recovering from an oversaturation of highly sugared, highly processed foods that generate a lot of glucose in the body when it does something quite natural and normal for itself, which is processed those things into glucose and releases them into the bloodstream for the liver and the pancreas to deal with.
So, this is, it might sound a little bit, I don’t know, depressing.
Or I would say brutally factual in this inaugural introduction.
The podcast is intended to be biweekly.
Definitely there will be a podcast every month, but I am planning on having something to share, even a short podcast of containing information which is useful in a little nugget that is passed out to you.
I hope you found this initial introduction interesting and come back soon and subscribe to the podcast and listen to how the journey continues and how my perspective continues to be very strict and hardcore on how I apply the rules and the lifestyle changes which I’ve rediscovered.
Yes, that’s the word rediscovered. I wish I had continued with them all along because I wouldn’t be here as a type 2 diabetic talking to you if the changes that I’ve made had been continued from when I first encountered those changes.

Jewelled Web – Connectivity
A shaman divines the future using a variety of tools and aids. I prefer crystals. By divining the future, I am providing an answer to a very limited question. Will I win this or that, will I connect with that person, or not. Will I succeed at such and such an exam?
These are questions with a binary answer. Yes, you will pass the exam could be an answer, or it may be. No, you will not. Will I win the car or the cash, there are so many chances in the lottery but in the end, for you, it is either yes, you have won, or no, you have not.
Yet there are far more options, a jewelled web of opportunities. One of them is shining brighter than the others and is right for at this moment. It is shining brightly for your highest good. As it shines you need to know how you feel about the opportunity offered. Do you live in that moment accept the jewel or are you focused on “what” and how, of the opportunity rather than what has been given to you?
In manifesting abundance, we can be more concerned about the price and do not see the value in what has arrived.
You are part of the web of life. To someone, you may not know them, you are worth more than all the others in their lives.
Garden of Venus—Rest and Renewal
As the summer surrounds you with growing and wonderful things, you must accept that now is the time to rest. You have fought and struggled in so many ways this year. It is not a case of slowing down to smell the roses. It is a time to stop and smell the roses.
The roses may be actual roses or they may be your achievements. Whatever the roses are, take some time to appreciate them and yourself.
Find somewhere peaceful, sit down and close your eyes and turn in the direction of the sun and dwell in the warmth on your skin. If you are walking past still water, take a moment to look at your reflection.
Who is looking back at you? As each of us overcomes a challenge we change, both on the inside and in our expression, so much of who we are exists in our expression, our features. Look again, into that mirror, who is looking back at you? Do you like what you see? In the end accept you will come back in a month, six months, or a year and see who is looking back at you through those same eyes.

Dances on One Foot – Balancing Act
As a dancer moves around the stage, they never have both feet on the ground, there is always one foot in the air. Their grace comes from how they move from one foot to another and the poses and moves they display.
If you are putting too much of yourself into a relationship, a job, a family or friends, now is the time to recognize it and that this is draining your spiritual energy. Some things must be let go so you have the energy you need for the things that will bring love, energy and vitality into your life.
You also need to recognize and understand the difference between being ready for something, anything to enter your life and being prepared.
We spend a lot of time and emotional energy acquiring money, resources and “things” for what we hope will be our future. Like a scientist looking through a microscope, we are focused on the tiny things in our lives and yet we are not ready when an opportunity is offered to us because we are not looking up and around.
Know this, at any moment in your life, you have all that you need to succeed, grow and thrive. Do not concentrate on the small things, look up and be ready for the opportunity that comes from a direction you had not thought of. Also, know that you will never be fully prepared for the reality accepting an opportunity will bring.
This card comes to tell you to be in a state of “yes.” Yes, to opportunities you did not see coming, and say yes to things that add, love, vitality and growth to your life, not things that hold you into a path you have been treading for weeks, months, and years.
Welcome opportunities into your life that speak to love, vitality and growth to your life and no to the things that do not, you will see your life become lighter, happier and sunnier. As you do so, recognize you have what you need to succeed, whether it is training and knowledge, or material things like a laptop, a car, you either already have these things or you have the ability to acquire them. There is nothing missing in you or your spirit.
Stars in the Sky—Limitless Possibility
Astronomy tells us there are more stars, constellations and galaxies in the night sky than we can see. Telescopes like the James Web are millions of miles from Earth, our home, peering into the sky and recording so much more.
The night sky is limitless and is always expanding. We can be sure that what we can see with our eyes and tools is just a fraction of what exists. We are part of that never ending and always expanding universe. Each of us has as much potential in us as each and every star we can know.
Now is the time for you to focus on what we want to learn, do, experience, and rejoice in. Now is the time to be present in the moment, in the here and now. Look within and see what it is you wish to participate in.
Do not let yourself be distracted. If you can concentrate clearly on what it is you want to achieve, you will summon your helpers and guides, along with the universal energy of abundance, to achieve what it is you are focusing on.As with manifesting abundance, do not concentrate on the form of what you wish to receive, concentrate on the potential. The universe will deliver what is suitable and appropriate to you at the moment you need it.

Directions: East
When you look East, you see the sun rising to brighten our lives and warm the earth. It is the start of our day. We set a special time in our calendars for it, it is called Sun Rise. Before alarm clocks people went to bed and rose with the setting and rising of the sun. The sun feeds all living things with energy and we certainly are living beings. It is all about our spiritual awakening, our soul continues with its karmic journey through life
and experience.
There are so many gifts for us with each sunrise it is impossible to list them all. Just the fact that the sun rises in the morning and brings us a new day gives us confidence and optimism. Not to mention a small sense of relief that the sunset the previous day was not the last time we would see the sun.
The East speaks to spring, youthfulness, and fills us with curiosity and wanting to explore a brave new world of opportunity and hope. The rising Sun has a powerful meaning for all life, animals, plants, trees, fish and, of course, humankind. The shaman leads celebrations of the Winter Solstice from which the days grow longer, and warmer and he or she looks to the longest of summer days, Summer Solstice.
Our waking is another opportunity to step closer to ourselves and a higher level of awareness and enriching of our soul with wisdom. The sun pulls us from our sleep and embraces us with warmth and divine light.
When we look around, we see the unlimited potential in ourselves. Embrace that potential and decide to move forward. Accept change, accept that change will bring enrichment and evolution in our lives and our souls.
Because direction East contains the spirit of Spring, renewal, birth, and rebirth. It is the spirit of all new beginnings, new ideas and new plans. It is the gift of awakening as we live this life meeting challenges and surpassing them to move to a higher level of awareness and spiritual wisdom.
The sun is the sleeping soul coming alive and being embraced by warmth and light. It was common for the shaman to greet the new dawn by facing east and watching the sunrise while saying a sacred prayer:
Great Spirit who comes out of the East,come to us with the power of the East,We are thankful for the light of the rising sun.Let there be light on the path we walk.Let us remember always to be thankful that You give the gift of a new day
— Lakota Prayer of the Four Directions

Lost in Space – Needing Direction
Does the future seem vague and uncertain? As life changes, and people come into or leave our lives, or we change where we live and feel a sense of loss of the friends and family that supported us and gave us life variety, we can feel lost. We feel uncertain about the future.
Plans for the future can also disrupt of feeling of the place and being. This is especially true if we feel we have no control over the outcome of those changes we are planning, or hoping to make.
For a moment, the future seems vast and uncertain. As you contemplate the vastness of the future, you tend to dwell on the past and mistakes made that have resulted in where you are now. The future is shrouded in mist and the past hangs like a dark cloud over what has been. As you contemplate your future, you desperately do not want to repeat any mistakes.
The setting of the sun each night brings a period when we eat, sleep, and rest in family or tribal groups. The shaman recognized the setting of the sun as a time when he/she danced, drummed, and sang in ceremonies to help heal the soul of a client. When they journeyed to upper or lower realms to retrieve lost souls and knowledge for healing.
Night was not a time to be feared, it was a time to cleans and shake off that which no longer serves us.
In the morning, the sun rises to ease your worries and anxiety. Let the shaman practise the sun ritual where fears and worries are given to the sun so that it may wash them away.
Find a quiet space, where you can be alone and face the sun, give your fears and worries to it. Say it in your mind or out loud, “take my worries and burn them away.”
Ask for its strength to meet your challenges today.
Fool’s Embrace—Transmuting Pain
There are two great energies in our lives. Pain and love. They are the Ying and Yang of our life experience. Everything can be distilled down to one of these two.
Of the two, this card is sent to you now to think about how you deal with pain. Pain can be angered, distrust, hurt, loss of someone or a pet, scheming, recklessness, and desperation. Pain is anything that can be considered negative.

Shaman of Song
Song is beauty and it is ritual. Song was an intimate part of a Shaman and the healing sessions they performed. Song allowed the shaman to express their journey to provide healing to the individual, family and tribe. Song is an expression of inner self and creativity, beauty and expression of the singer’s soul and spirit.
If you do not sing let the song you want to sing, be something within you. Touching your inner self and being. Whistle a tune as you work, even if it is not a very good tune, your spirit knows what it is you want to express.
The song you sing may not be an actual song, it can be the expression of your life in some way that brightens your life and those around you. Do you make bread and do it very well? That can be your song. Giving food and sustenance to yourself and others is a song.
Now is the time to look at your own song what it means on to you. Enjoy!
Spirit of Destruction
Destruction means an end to something that once was of value. In tarot it refers to the ending of a cycle that no longer serves us.
To the shaman it means the ending of inner turmoil and frustration. The soul and spirit are agitated, hurt, damaged, plagued with guilt, resentment, and anger.
To move forward you must recognize these challenges and damaging patterns. Resolve to end these feelings no matter how they were caused. You cannot move along your life path if you carry this baggage. It saps your energy and magnifies itself as you deal on these negative feelings.
Find a quiet space, preferably amongst nature and look at the life around you, animals, insects and plants. They grow and move without judgment and do not dwell on negative events. Learn from them, plants do not grow where the ground is rocky and the soil is bad for them, they grow where the soil is rich and fertile. Animals search for food where there is abundance. When they find food, they eat what they need to survive, not in excess.
It is your time to leave the negativity within you behind. Recognize it and the cause and resolve to go where the world is abundant and you can grow and be happy and successful.

Ancestor of Exile
This is not so much about being exiled from a place or a group. If for example, there is a falling out with colleagues at work and they no longer invite you to lunch. It could be a feeling of being exiled from the group when you are the new person in the team and for now you simply do not fit in with everyone else.
No, this has to do with your inner self. A feeling of lacking something. Perhaps you are no longer confident in your abilities, you have lost faith in yourself. You no longer appreciate your achievements; you no longer feel you can celebrate your successes because the success does not seem to be large enough.
You must always celebrate your successes, no matter how big or small. If you are part of a group, you must always celebrate the group success.
This card comes to you now to seek out the wounds that are preventing you from celebrating success or recognizing you have achieved a goal, no matter how small or indirect to your feelings of what should be celebrated.
Be kind to yourself as you walk your life path and never leave a wound of being exiled from your achievements go untended. Recognize and learn from success and let it heal the wounds of the challenge and upset.
Spirit of Truth
In the long-ago past, truth meant honesty to the family group and to the tribe. In the modern world, it means truth to the group we work with and the family group, no matter how large or small. It can mean the truth in telling a cashier they gave us too much in our change.
As we walk our life path, truth means being true to ourselves. Recognizing when we are out of tune with the world and our inner self. Have we been truthful in our appreciation of our successes and failures, have we claimed success from another and denied them recognition for their efforts in doing so?
Being true to ourselves and within ourselves comes before anything. There is a feeling that this card comes to remind you of this. Now is a time of inner reflection on what truth means to you and how you relate to it and your spirit as you travel your life path.

Ancestor of Memory
Memory helps define us and guide us. That is because it allows us to see where we have been and to integrate the lessons, we have learned so that we have an ever-changing perspective that allows us to develop with each new challenge.
It is the collective memory of our family and our tribe. Now that we have moved well beyond the ability of our own memories and the collective memory of family or tribe we move forward with writing and more recently computers to collect, categorize and organize memory and shared events.
This card comes to you this week to spend some time contemplating and gathering your thoughts and memories. To appreciate your life and all the challenges and learning that make you who you are.
In gathering these memories and seeing where you have been and what has happened in your life, you will see where you are going and what it is you have yet to start. In looking at what has to start, you will prioritize the next stage of your life.
Be open to it and welcome the challenges and changes with open arms.
Ancestor of Skill
Skill is the ability to do something. This card is a representation of half man and half deer. Our early ancestors learned much from the world around them, especially the animals. They were open to learning new skills and habits from everything around them.
As the Ancestor of Memory asks you to contemplate where you have been and where you are going as well as where you have yet to go. The Ancestor of Skill asks you to be open to new learning new skills from all sources, not just the ones you have used so far in your life.
As you contemplate your life and the skills you have, look inside, we all have skills we are not using or discovered. These abilities may require time and effort to refine and make completely useful to us, but it is time well worth it and part of our life path.

Spirit of Family
Family was vital in the distant past when our ancestors hunted with bows and arrows and spears. The family was a powerful unit of interweaving energy from different members, old and young along with the animals that shared their lives.
The tribe was a unique joining of many family units and animals into a greater whole and for the benefit of each.
The shaman saw clearly that each was family, each human and animal was stronger because of kinship with the other.
This card comes to you now to remind you of kinship and shared love and energy fellow humans and animals bring us. Look up and around, even the birds in the trees sing a song for you as you walk by.
Spirit of Love
Patience is love. Patience to recognize the all-encompassing love that is all around us, even if we do not share in it directly.
But when we do share in it, it is swirling and emotional, sudden and dynamic. Love is a paintbrush on a canvas that shows a different landscape than the one we thought we would create when we made the first brush stroke.
The card is a message to be open to receive and give love. It means to be open to place your hand over your heart at the end of the day and say to yourself, “I love you.”
When you love yourself and are open to love in all its suddenness and strangeness, love will come to you and lift you up. Be careful though not to judge love, do not censor or discriminate against who sends the love. Accept what is given to you, in the way and form it is given.

Spirit of Healing
In the long-distant past, when humans lived very close to nature, in huts, yurts and tepees, danger was all around. Not just with predatory animals but with plants that were poisonous. They needed healers frequently and they turned to the shaman for help.
Using their knowledge of healings plants and potions, the shaman would help to heal the physical body.
The appearance of this card does not speak to the body, it speaks to the spirit and the soul. The spirit and soul are our inner life force, it is the essential spark inside us that carries us forward, it is what makes each of us different and it is the creative energy that helps us accept and succeed at challenges.
For some of there has been hurt and damage to the soul or spirit. It could have been caused by a failed relationship, a friendship that cannot continue. It might even be diagnosis of a serious disease.
The Spirit of Healing shaman card is sent to you to seek out the spiritual and soul healing needed to move past what has hurt you, damaged you.
The shaman journeys to the different realms, Upper, Lower and even the Underworld seeking healing that cannot be applied to the physical self to make us whole again.
Now is the time to make space in the world and relax, get in touch with the hurt and understand that you can learn from it and that learning will give you energy to move forward with your life again.
Shaman of Courage
Courage is a fundamental attribute of each human being, each spirit and soul that inhabits the physical shell. It takes courage to be in charge at work, at home or on the soccer pitch.
Without courage we do not move forward, we see the risk and disadvantage, the negative outcome rather than the possibility of success and advancement.
Even things that seem natural such as getting married and starting a family requires courage.
Outward challenges and demonstrations of courage and success are the opposite of what is inside many of us; doubts, fears, anxiety, and stress.
The card comes to remind you, as does your spiritual shaman, that you have within you what you need to succeed.

Drum - Awaken
The rhythm of a shaman’s drum brings a melody to the ceremonies they perform. Ceremonies of loss and recovery, healing and energy.
Slowing down may seem strange when the subtext is Awakening, but you need to slow down and learn how to cut out the chatter of your busy logical mind. Still, the endless cycle of “what if” thoughts that bring you no value, no insight, they only drain your energy and confuse you by hiding the path you should be following.
Drum speaks to nature, Mother Ghia, the earth, to your heart beat and that of your mother when you were in the womb, protected, and comfortable. Your creative self, the innovative and expanding right side of your brain, is helping to change you, change your focus, emotions and dreams.
You are starting to awaken and see your life path. Be open to learning and change, to give life to a new direction in your existence.
Allow it to flow, and grow. Be attentive to the messages you awaken in yourself and the possibilities in your spirit and creative mind.

Buried in Mary - Transference
The energy in this card is asking you to pay attention to its message. Find a way to apply your essential vitality in life to the challenges you face, and your future.
This is a time to look for energy, thoughts and ideas that have not made it to the front of your consciousness. Ancestor stories, events, circumstances and dreams have all contributed to where you are now.
Think for a moment of an ancestor who moved from one country, city or region to where you are living now. They were not intimidated by the journey they would have to endure to reach a better life. They had a vision of where and what they wanted to be and looked forward to the adventure. Adventure translates to opportunity when you are open to it.
If you have something physical from your ancestors, a watch, a purse, a piece of jewellery, a letter, or photographs. Gather them together. Find a quiet space, in your home or in a park, somewhere where you can hold the items and look at them, feel them, listen to the energy in them. Feel the flow of energy and how it transfers to you.
In that moment of transference, there is connection.
The energy of that connection flows from the journeys and challenges of your ancestors to you. If you are facing challenges let the energy of the past flow into you and help you face what is in front of you whether it is physical or emotional. Your ancestor’s energy will help you move forward.
When you are finished, place all the items in something where you can find them easily and take them out again in the future if you feel challenged by what is in front of you and draw energy from them.

North - Solitude
We all walk a life path, a path set for our soul, our spirit, before we are born. In that special time when one life has ended and another has not started, the sum of our good and bad Karma from the past life is merged with the karma from all of our past lives.
The path we are to follow is defined in that moment between lives and the lessons we need to learn expressed. We walk the new life path with guides who are able to help us along the way. Some guides will be with us throughout our entire life, some only for a short while to provide help when needed for special tasks, experiences, and learning.
All our guides play a special part in our lives—if we listen to them.
The message this card holds is to detach from busy life and seek peace, and rest. The subtext on the card is solitude. Around you are people, or things trying to mould you in a way that is not part of your life path.
If what is trying to mould you is an addictive substance such as stimulants, money or alcohol, seek help. Distance yourself from the source of influence. Contemplate what, and why you have come to this stage in your path.
If there is fear, resistance, and pain in you, seek solitude to understand why and how and why you are connected to these things and learn from your guides how to remove them.
Above all, allow solitude to help you become aware of the lessons you are here to learn at this stage in your life.
Before your path ends, you will have many lessons to learn, much more life to experience. This is a message to help you through this time.

Medicine Bag - Treasure
This card is a reminder to pay attention to the things you have brought through your life to this point.
Along the way you have collected things, material things, sentimental things. They define a moment of time. Perhaps you have left one of those behind, by accident or as part of life’s plan.
If you have material things bring them out into the light of day and take time to study them and reflect on them. They are mementos of people, places and events that had meaning and taught you things.
If they are memories, dust them off and make them bright and clear in your mind. My father’s medal ribbon is a powerful memory of his strength, service, and willingness to accept risk, but also endeavour, valour, and courage.
Something my mother gave me brings thoughts of all the things she did for me as I was growing up. When she bandaged and hugged me when I took a fall, or the nights, she spent with me doing homework. She comforted me when I was sick and praised me when I succeeded. She was always there for me.
When you look at your mementos, do you see them or the memories associated with them? What can you learn from the memories? On your life path, do the memories glow brightly at certain times in your life. What is important about those times? Can you see how you are passing on the same vibrations to your own children, and to the animals in your life?
A wedding dress and decorations from a wedding cake speak to hopes for happiness in a future pairing with another, and the first shoes worn by a baby of growth and hopes, wishes and dreams for a future generation.
Just feel the power in these memories, let them wash over you and communicate to you.
Pay attention to the lessons, feelings, thoughts, and experiences brought to you now. As this year unfolds, use these messages of hope to create fresh new memories, and be open to collect new mementos along your journey.
Now put what is in front of you carefully away so you can bring them out again when you need an emotional recharge.

Stone People – Knowing
Shamans see spirits and energy in everything in this world. Streams, rivers, lakes and plants. Mountains and stones or rocks all have energy that speaks to a place, a time, and a purpose. The Stone People are the spirits in the rocks and mountains we see all around us. This is why being out in nature, spending time outside your home will bring energy and encourage you along your life path.
The card repeats the ask to be open and accepting of the message[s] the sprits of the Stone People have for you. The information you need to move forward if you are stalled is available but you are not paying attention, or being open to receive it and apply it. If you are lacking energy, depressed or confused, the energy and knowledge of the Stone People is open to you now.
Is it that you do not want to move on? You may not be happy with the situation you find your spirit in, but change seems more uncomfortable and daunting and for that reason you struggle to ignore the positive messages being given to you.
If your resistance to hear the messages is because of a loss, a person, or a pet. Now is the time to experience the calmness Stone People bring you.
Slow your mind that is so captivated by the minutiae of busy mind living. Slow your mind from the loss you are feeling. As you slow you mind, slow your spirit to listen and learn from the messages of the Stone People you start to see the world through the eyes of a shaman.
Look around as you walk in nature, if a pebble or small rock speaks to you pick it up and hold it in your hand. Let the energy speak to you, breathe it in and learn from the message of the Stone person in that small piece of early energy.
The Stone People ask you to be clear about your intentions in life. As you are challenged, learn from each challenge, and move on to the next with new knowledge. Be open to esoteric knowledge that is revealed to you, accept and use it. If you are being asked to study something, be open to doing so. In that study your mind will expand and you will be encouraged to move in a new direction on your life path journey.

Buried in the Earth – Transference
The energy here is asking you to pay attention to the message the card brings, find a way to apply the vitality in your life to the challenges you face, and your future.
This is a time to look for energy, thoughts and ideas that have not made it to the front of your consciousness. Ancestor stories, events, circumstances and dreams have all contributed to where you are now.
Think for a moment of an ancestor who moved from one country, city or region to where you are living now. They were not intimidated by the journey they would have to endure and worked hard to make it a reality. They had a vision of where and what they wanted to be. They were open to the opportunities and challenges their new home would bring.
If you have anything physical from your ancestors, a watch, a purse, a piece of jewellery, even a letter or photographs. Gather them together. Find a quiet space, in your home or in a park, somewhere where you can hold the items and look at them, feel them.
There is a moment of connection.
The energy of that connection flows from the journeys and challenges of your ancestors to you. If you are facing challenges let the energy of the past flow into you and help you face what is in front of you whether it is physical or emotional. Your ancestor’s energy will help you move forward.
When you are finished, place all the items in something where you can find them easily and take them out again in the future if you feel challenged by what is in front of you and draw energy from them.

Stone People – Knowing

Medicine Wheel – Continuation
The space inside a medicine wheel is a sacred space. Inside the wheel you can appreciate the circle of life. Life is a circle of energy and being.
When you look at life this way, you can learn from the challenges and experiences you encounter and move forward to what comes next. Until you have learned from an experience, it will not resolve itself or allow you to move forward.
Allow the cycle of life to form your spirit, and how you learn from and communicate with your intentions, hopes, and dreams.
The medicine wheel allows you to access the energies of the four cardinal compass points as well as the minor ones. It gives access to spiritual energies and the energy of Mother Ghia, plants, animals, crystals and anything you wish to bring into the circle.
You may build your own medicine wheel, either in your mind, on a piece of land where you can build one for real. A medicine wheel does not have to be large, it can be small, in your garden, amongst the flowers and growing things. Under a tree in your yard. Using pebbles or small ricks rather than big boulders.
Medicine Wheels, are found all over the world and many are ancient, left behind by our ancient ancestors. They speak of the first spirits that emerged from the Underworld to become people to walk upon the earth.
Each medicine wheel is special and unique to the religious philosophy of the race of people who built it, and to you.

Cave – Retreat
A cave offers a home away from the dangers, stress, and aggravation of daily life. It offered our ancient ancestors protection and warmth. In the modern life, we are always running here and there. Our mind is in constant turmoil and filled with the noisy chatter of our egoic mind. All these stresses have a negative effect on us, they wear us down.
Cave is a retreat, a literal cave or an emotional cave. It is a place to go to and rest away from the negative energies that can consume the good in our soul and spirit.
It is time now to slow down and spend some time away from the demands of others so you can concentrate on you, your hopes, your dreams, and the messages your guides are sending you. Messages just for you, messages to help you grow and develop.
You need to move forward, evolve and change but cannot if your energy is drained away by others. You have learned where you can retreat to heal and shed the negative energy of others and life in general. After a period of tranquility, you are ready to seek your goals, ambitions and dreams.

Birds—Freedom
This card came to you last week. When a card repeats in consecutive weeks. This is a message of reinforcement, and, encouragement.
We are only in the fourth month of the year but if this year has already been tiring and exhausting look at April as the start of spring and shedding of the winter months. All is new in spring, plants grow, animals join and mate, there is optimism all around you.
Take a moment to get outside, especially if you have a park or open space near you. Look up, you see the birds and hope passionately that your hopes will soar like them. If you are near water, you can watch them swooping and enjoying the breezes moving from water to land, and back again.
This is a time to believe in dreams and hopes manifesting and moving forward.
Your soul is like a caged bird. The stress of living the way you are is the cage denying you freedom. If you are to welcome new experiences, people and manifest your hopes and dreams, then memories and experiences you are carrying must leave you. You cannot, must not, carry the past with you like luggage or an old suit of clothes.
The past burdens you and makes it difficult for everything that is new this year to enter your life. Look up and smile, welcome the sun, welcome the new life around you.
In the first week of April, the Feathers card appeared symbolizing what is ahead and to let go. Be prepared for excitement and expectation.
If you live in a part of the world where you can open windows and let fresh air into your home, do so. This breath of fresh air is the literal breath of new air that you need to breathe. If you cannot open your home because of the weather. Bundle up and go for a walk in a park or near a lake.
The new air in your lungs, its freshness and energy, will motivate you to spread your wings and seize new opportunities Spring brings. Do not hesitate. When you walk and breathe resolve to be prepared to speak your truth when things get difficult. Spring is a wonderful time but it also brings challenges that help you change, being truthful to yourself at this time is important to your life path through this year.
The cage the past can create for your soul includes bars that prevent you from speaking your truth. Your honesty is locked away because you fear that what you have to say may not be well received. This confines you and makes you a follower. It takes away your power. Resolve to take back your power and express yourself to the world in your own way on your own terms.

Birds—Freedom

Medicine Bag—Treasure
This card is a reminder to pay attention to the things you have brought with you through your life to this point. Take out those special things, mementoes of people, places and events. They may not be material items; they may have been gifted to you by a relative who is passed over. My father’s medal ribbon is a powerful memory of strength, service, and willingness to accept risk, but also endeavour, valour and courage.
A memento from my mother brings thoughts of all the things she did for me as I was growing up. When she bandaged and hugged me when I took a fall, or the nights, she spent with me doing homework. She comforted me when I was sick and praised me when I succeeded. She was always there for me.
When you look at your mementos do you see them or do memories associated with them play out in your mind? What can you learn from the memories? Can you see how you are passing on the same vibrations to your own children, and to the animals in your life?
A wedding dress and decorations from a wedding cake speak to hopes for happiness in a future pairing with another, and the first shoes worn by a baby of growth and hopes, wishes and dreams for a future generation.
Just feel the power in these memories, let them wash over you and communicate to you.
Pay attention to the lessons, feelings, thoughts, and experiences brought to you now. As this year unfolds, use these messages of hope to create fresh new memories, and be open to collect new mementoes along your journey.
Now put what is in front of you carefully away so you can bring them out again when you need an emotional recharge.

Feathers—Restoration
Spring is here. The calendar date was March 20, and yet the weather has still been cold. Rain has replaced snow, animals are active, they are looking for mates, and building nests.
Last year you worked, and learned every day. There has been happiness and sadness. Now is the time to take a breath and slow down and appreciate the new world coming to life around you.
Shamans cover their cloaks or headdresses with feathers. The feathers capture and distribute beneficial energies from the animal world and the upper and lower worlds they journey to. Feathers are sacred.
Feather provides confirmation of your guardian angels, to find a feather lost by a bird flying freely over your head is a message your guardians are with you and looking after you. A feather is incredibly personal to your current circumstances, dreams, and goals.
All the worries, trials and tribulations of the past need to be set aside. Do not carry them like old clothes that should be disposed of. The feather is a message to let go of the worries and pains of living life it is not all about worries and struggle, there has to be time for your soul to rest.
There has to be time for you look up and forward to the new world being created around you.
The feather connects you with yourself, the Great Spirit, and the bird that lost the feather as it flew freely above you.
The feather brings a sense of freedom that only a bird can give you. Take this time to refresh yourself, become more grounded and in tune with your spirit. A bird that is not in tune with itself has difficulty flying.
This year you will be asked to fly, now is the time to get in tune with your life path, your dreams, and your hopes.

Soul Retrieval – Reclamation
If you are, or have been concentrating on the needs of others and not yourself you must be feeling tired and exhausted. Helping others is a wonderful thing to do, but when the needs of others become more important than your own, you have to look at your own self-worth and whether it has become neglected and also set aside in preference of others.
When you give others, more value than yourself a part of your soul is lost. If you stop for a moment and take a breath, you can see who you have become, and what you were before you gave away so much of yourself.
This card is sent to you to encourage you to separate yourself from all those who are taking from you and making you subservient to their soul and spirit. Now is the time for two important things to happen.
You need to start saying No to the demands of others. No! is a powerful word. It breaks the spell others have over you. It may be difficult for you to say if you have been the servant of others for a long time, and it requires you to be firm and committed to the word and not go back on once you have said it.
You need to undertake a soul journey, perhaps with a shaman, to gather the parts of your soul and spirit that have been lost or no longer seem to be alive within you. The shaman will help you reintegrate the parts that have been lost and help you become whole again and at peace with who you are.
When you are at peace, your power to be who you are will return to you, allowing you to make your own decisions, follow your own path in harmony and completeness.

Air – Creativity
Take some time to meditate and connect with your intuition and spiritual self. Air is energetic and will give vitality to your hopes and dreams. It will push you to use your creativity to bring new purpose to your existence.
Look long and hard at any doubts, fears and negativity about your ideas and ability to create. Negativity will take you, off course. Negativity if left unchallenged will make you doubt yourself and ability, your creativity and all aspects of your life.
If you breathe energy and life into your creative ideas, you will see a new life open up for you. One that brings more and more life energy and you will start to see your ingenuity take over and multiply your creative opportunities. Paint, draw, write, create in whatever way appeals to your spirit and your intuition. Relying on your intuition will serve you well as you create.

Medicine Bag – Treasure
This card is a reminder to pay attention to the things you have brought with you through your life to this point. The material things you are looking at are linked to memories. The medal ribbon of a parent who served their country bravely brings a particular type of memory. A powerful memory of strength, service, and willingness to accept risk and perhaps pay the ultimate price.
A memento from your mother brings thoughts of all the things she did for you as you were growing up. When she bandaged and hugged you when you took a fall or the nights, she spent with you doing homework. She praised you when you were sick and praised you when you succeeded. She was always there for you.
A wedding dress and decorations from a wedding cake speak to hopes for happiness in a future paired with another that manifest in the first shoes worn by a baby.
There is a lot of power in these material things and the memories they stir in you. Pay attention to the lessons and experiences brought to you with these thoughts and feelings. As this year unfolds, there are messages of hope for creating fresh memories, and new things to collect along your journey.

Cave – Retreat
A cave offers a home away from the dangers, stress, and aggravation of daily life. In the modern life, we are always running here and there. Our mind is in constant turmoil and filled with the noisy chatter of our egoic mind. All these stresses have a negative effect on us, they wear us down.
Cave is a retreat, a literal cave or an emotional cave. It is a place to go to and rest away from the negative energies that can consume the good in our soul and spirit.
It is time now to slow down and spend some time away from the demands of others so you can concentrate on you, your hopes, your dreams, and the messages your guides are sending you. Messages just for you, messages to help you grow and develop.
You need to move forward, evolve and change but cannot if your energy is drained away by others. You have learned where you can retreat to heal and shed the negative energy of others and life in general. After a period of tranquility, you are ready to seek your goals, ambitions and dreams.

Buried in the Earth – Transference
This card, this energy was sent to you at the start of this month. The message remains the same. But with the added energy of asking you to pay attention to the message and finding a way to apply the vitality in them to your challenges, your life, and your future.
This is a time to look for energy, thoughts and ideas that have not made it to the front of your consciousness. Ancestor stories, events, circumstances and dreams have all contributed to where you are now.
Think for a moment of an ancestor who moved from one country, city or region to where you are living now. They were not intimidated by the journey they would have to endure and worked hard to make it a reality. They had a vision of where and what they wanted to be. They were open to the opportunities and challenges their new home would bring.
If you have anything physical from your ancestors, a watch, a purse, a piece of jewellery, even a letter or photographs. Gather them together. Find a quiet space, in your home or in a park, somewhere where you can hold the items and look at them, feel them.
There is a moment of connection.
The energy of that connection flows from the journeys and challenges of your ancestors to you. If you are facing challenges let the energy of the past flow into you and help you face what is in front of you whether it is physical or emotional. Your ancestor’s energy will help you move forward.
When you are finished, place all the items you have in a place where you can find them easily and take them out again in the future if you feel challenged by what is in front of you.
Action
Very appropriate for the message in Buried in the Earth.
Storms are revitalizing. They rain and blow and in so doing they cleanse the land of broken branches and blockages on the surface of the earth.
The winds are blowing and the rain washing your soul and spirit. The storm is also cleansing dreams and wishes. Do not be afraid of the storm or the cleansing of your hopes and dreams.
Take the energy from your ancestors to smooth the path of changes being redyed in your life. Now is the time to use your energy, together with those who went before, to look at the possibilities, the options, and your hopes.
It is time to make decisions, even if the path is not clear, it is better to take Action! Move forward rather than stay still and static. You are like the tree that bends in the wind, not the one that stays still and tries to stand against the storm and is broken down by the change that is coming.

Upper World—Future
The Upperworld is the dwelling place of sentient spirits and souls that are beings of love and light. They are all knowing and giving. It is to the Upperworld that a shaman journeys as part of their search for knowledge and understanding when they are tasked with a healing request.
The spiritual vibration of the Upperworld is higher than the plane of existence we inhabit physically and much higher than that of the Lower World and especially that of the Underworld.
This is all about your potential. Can you open up and receive from the Upperworld and show your true potential? Your potential is to bring benefits and spiritual help to others around you, including pets and animals. You may think it means being a suitable partner, parent, friend, child, or helping and caring for an animal that is challenged in some way.
The blessing sent to you from the Upperworld may be small, not large. Pay attention to it and allow yourself to benefit from it and give back by doing what you are guided to provide to those around you.
Wonders
This card comes to you for the third time this month. The repetition is a statement from the universe to pay attention and listen!
In ancient times, natural rock crystals such as amethyst, citrine, rose, clear or smoky quartz were revered. Australian Aboriginals called it Maban, and it was the crystal through which Shamans and elders gained their magical powers.
Crystals are also used in the manifestation of intentions, both good or ill. If a crystal is found on the surface of the ground, it is especially potent for the finder as the two came together in an open natural environment.
This is a message of impending abundance and possibilities arriving soon. Embrace the opportunities and changes coming to you. The more you do so, the more will manifest for you.
The appearance of the card reinforces that it is time to celebrate all abundance and possibilities coming to you. No matter how small or large, applaud them all. Most important as you celebrate release all expectations of what the Universe will gift you. Be open to all that comes your way, reject nothing.

Wisdom
The surface of the sea is very different from what is happening in the depths. This is a message of looking beneath the surface of your life. Beneath the feelings and turbulence of your emotions and thoughts.
Look at your inner self to see how deep down, you are doing. All maybe conflict and struggle on the surface but deep down you are happy and peaceful. It is time to recognize the disconnect been your daily life and what is inside. Of course, the opposite may be true, in the surface you are peaceful and beneath that placid exterior your emotions and thoughts are raging.
A disconnect between the surface you and the inner self is stressful and drain your energy. On this Valentine’s Day, take a moment to recognize this and how it drains you. The energy you lose this way affects all in your life who you love. There is less of you for them to receive love and energy from.
Now is the time for you to use your essential wisdom to recognize this and be determined not to let your presence, your love and energy drain away uselessly and without purpose. They deserve more and you deserve to receive more from them.
Wonders
This card has come to you on Valentine’s Day, a day reserved for expressions of love and affection for those close to you, especially the most precious one in your life.
Crystals are also used in the manifestation of intentions, both good or ill. If a crystal is found on the surface of the ground, it is especially potent for the finder as the two came together in an open natural environment.
The card has come to you today with a message of impending abundance and possibilities arriving soon. Embrace the opportunities and changes coming to you. The more you do so, the more will manifest for you.
It is time to celebrate all abundance and possibilities coming to you. No matter how small or large, applaud them all.

Bells—Deflection
Shamans use the sound of bells to ward off evil spirits and dark or lower energies who seek to hurt or damage a person’s soul. In some regions of Siberia, Shamans have a staff made of iron to which bells and other pieces of metal are attached that make a metallic rattling as they walk about.
Bells can ring loudly, or be quite mild in tone, yet the meaning is the same as the person ringing the bells or the evil spirits being warned to leave. By tradition, the person ringing the bells is silent. This focuses the attention of the dark spirits on them.
This is a time to ward off dark spirits trying to damage you or your dreams and intentions. Stay silent and to not let those around you know your intentions, hopes, and goals. In the work space, this can be co-workers who are competing with you for a promotion, or some other advancement or recognition.
Bells may also refer to warning bells intended to warn people away from a truth that someone does not want to share with you or others. Pay attention to the sound of the bells and how intensely they ring and who is silent where they ring the bells. This may lead you to understand what is hidden or where the truth is.
Consider that walking away is not the worst you can do. Negativity and hidden truths drain you and your essential energies. You do not need to suffer that. Do not help others embroiled in dark energies. They will drain your energies while trying to help themselves.
Shamans use bells to clear spaces and people during ceremonies. Clear your space, your home, your vehicle and your workspace. As you do so, allow the sound of the bells to raise your own spiritual vibration. This will not only help your understanding of shamanism; it will shed the negative energies and allow continue to grow and prosper materially and spiritually in life.
Wonders
In ancient times, natural rock crystals such as amethyst, citrine, rose, clear or smoky quartz were all revered. Australian Aboriginals called it Maban, and it was the crystal through which Shamans and elders gained their magical powers.

Buried in the Earth – Transference
This is a time to look for energy, thoughts and ideas that have not made it to the front of your consciousness. Ancestor stories, events, circumstances and dreams have all contributed to where you are now.
Think for a moment of an ancestor who moved from one country, city or region to where you are living now. They were not intimidated by the journey they would have to endure and worked hard to make it a reality. They had a vision of where and what they wanted to be. They were open to the opportunities and challenges their new home would bring.
If you have anything physical from your ancestors, a watch, a purse, a piece of jewellery, even a letter or photographs. Gather them together. Find a quiet space, in your home or in a park, somewhere where you can hold the items and look at them, feel them.
There is a moment of connection.
The energy of that connection flows from the journeys and challenges of your ancestors to you. If you are facing challenges let the energy of the past flow into you and help you face what is in front of you whether it is physical or emotional. Your ancestor’s energy will help you move forward in your efforts to move forward.
When you are finished, place all the items you have in a place where you can find them easily and take them out again in the future if you feel challenged by what is in front of you.
Security
From the earliest time of human history, caves have been a place of refuge. A place where humans could cook and eat, sleep, heal and be safe from predators and enemies. They were also a place where community was experienced. Caves could protect more than just a family unit.
The card shows a warming fire in a cave decorated with an ancient animal. A shaman would guide the painting of these cave decorations. The decorations depicted the world the ancient cave dwellers saw around themselves as well as their hopes and aspirations.
In a time when success at hunting meant plenty for those in the cave, paintings were made showing this vision of an abundant future.
The card comes to you now to tell you that you are protected, secure, and your home like the cave is a place of refuge. As the ancient cave dwellers secured their cave, their home, you put on a seat belt when you drive, you have the insurance paid, you have a lock on the door and you have food and warmth.

Medicine Bag – Treasure
The final reading for January, 2023 and it flows with the same theme of all the other cards in the weekly readings.
Pay attention to the things you have brought with you from the old year and the years before that. The material things you are looking at are linked to memories. The medal ribbon of a parent who served their country bravely brings a particular type of memory. A powerful memory of strength, service, and willingness to accept risk and perhaps pay the ultimate price.
A wedding dress and decorations from a wedding cake speak to hopes for happiness in a future paired with another that manifest in the first shoes worn by a baby.
There is a lot of power in these material things and the memories they stir in you. Pay attention to the lessons and experiences. As the New Year unfolds the message these things bring is one of hope for creating fresh memories, and new things to pick up along your journey.
Joyful Muse – Inspiration
Be more playful now, and in the year ahead. It is time to change your attitude towards yourself and your life.
Circumstances may have made you the way they are right now, but that is no reason to stay that way. In fact, you must not continue the way you are right now. People may find you interesting, and doing interesting things, but inside you are not interesting, you are boring.
The New Year is the time to bring more joy to your life, invite in pleasure and delight. Watch a funny movie and find funny things in the world around you that make you happy.
The Joyful Muse comes when life may seem dark and foreboding. If something unwelcome has come into your life the dark clouds can be dispelled by laughter, beauty, and playfulness. There is an inner child in you. It is time for you to find that child. Look at the world through their eyes for a while as they help you recognise what is fun and natural.

Earth – Nurture
We need to nurture ourselves and our dreams and hopes.
Nurturing ourselves helps us manifest the dreams we hope for. Nurturing means to take care of ourselves and recognise what is not working for us and change it or discard it.
Another way to think about nurturing yourself is to rest and recharge. Not in the way some colleagues refer to it when they come back from a vacation energized to do more and better for the company. The company is not them, their heart and mind, it is external and does not reward in the way recharging a person’s spirit does.
This week, do something for yourself, not for others who will not do the same for you in return.
Spirit of the River – Movement Toward Adventure
A matching theme in this card. The Earth card asked you to nurture yourself. Spirit of the River asks you to go with the flow and stop trying to swim against the current. The current may be dreams that are no longer part of your life, or where never meant to be part of your life.
Perhaps a friend or relative followed their dream, and you looked at it and thought that you should follow it as well. It was not your dream and not meant for you. You have been swimming against the flow of your life and spirit all this time and now you must stop!
Gather yourself and go with the flow of your life. Manifest what is right for you. What is meant for you and expand the meaning of this card “Movement Toward Adventure.”
You are being asked to move toward Adventure in this first month of the New Year, you are not being asked to stand and resist the flow of your life path purpose. Move on!

Drum – Awaken
The rhythm of a Shaman’s drum brings a melody to the ceremonies they perform. This card expands on the theme of the first two weeks of these readings.
Slow down and still the chit-chat of the busy logical mind. Still, the endless cycle of “what if” thoughts that bring you no value, no insight, they only drain your energy and confuse you by hiding the path you should be following.
Drum speaks to nature, Mother Ghia, the earth, to your heart beat and that of your mother when you were in the womb, protected and comfortable. Your creative self, the innovative and expanding right side of your brain, is helping to change you, change your focus, emotions and dreams.
Allow this to flow and grow. Be attentive to the messages you awaken to the possibilities in your spirit and creative mind.
Watchers – Transpersonal
Get off the treadmill even for a moment, slow down and pay attention to the drama happening around you, but stay out of the mele.
Now is the time to hold your thoughts to yourself. Do not engage in the drama. Be yourself and hold your thoughts and advice close to you. Do not share them.
Now is the time to watch and observe. Look to the Horizon of the New Year of possibilities, change and advancement. The surrounding drama is like an anthill compared to what the New Year can bring you.
You have given a lot of energy and yourself to the anthill. Now is the time to leave it behind.

Insects – Support
Change.
Do you have the emotional and or material support you need from family and friends? Perhaps you do not. If so, can you see why? Perhaps it is you who feel unsupported in the way you want or expect to be supported.
It just might be that you are receiving the support you need, but not what you expect or want. This creates a sense of disillusionment and abandonment. Insects bring the strength to adjust and change to your situation and the support you need, not want.
In the animal world, as life and situations change, they adjust to what is happening around them. They do not despair, feel unhappy or abandoned. They adjust and change and become successful. Insects arrive now to encourage you to move on, move forward, and be successful.
Now is the time also to not let the light of your hopes and dreams be diminished by people who disrespect you or mock your actions. Just because they cannot see your dreams and hopes does not mean you need to let go of what you hope and want in the way you want.
Lost Compass – Getting back to Integrity
We all have an internal compass; it helps us recognise what is right or wrong. It helps us navigate the world of change, of people who cannot live the life we hope for because they do not have the vision or courage to expect the best for themselves.
Perhaps they have accepted less for themselves than could have achieved if they had faith in their abilities. Perhaps their dreams are just not as big, bright and colourful as yours?
Not everyone or every ideal has a place in your life, and that is as it should be.
Stop trying to add people or places to your life that have no value, or the wrong value.
This card speaks to getting back to integrity. Integrity is your true self, the authentic self. When you lose and then find your compass, look for true north. That never changes. Sit down and adjust your life, emotions, hopes and dreams in terms of True North.

Plant Medicine – Truth
The key word here is Truth. Have you been fed misinformation, a distortion of the truth, or a complete fallacy that bears no resemblance to the truth? At work, in your personal life, from a friend or partner in business or a relationship?
Shamans use plants to induce an Altered State of Consciousness. In this state, they journey to learn and understand the truth and return that to their client, you, to help you understand what is happening around you and allow you to decide on how to proceed.
The decision will be whether you want your world and the people and things in it to remain the same or change. Allowing things to remain the same will mean continuing in a sort of dream state, where reality differs from what you understand and believe.
If you decide to accept Plant Medicine – the truth, things will never be the same and that is exciting but also requires courage.
Closing Door – Completion
This card brings a message that reinforces Plant Medicine – Truth.
A cycle has ended, a stage in your life has completed. As Plant Medicine spoke about misinformation and your courage to take an alternative path, Closing Door tells you an end has come. Now is the time to move on.
For you to move on, you need to recognise that a job, a place, a relationship, a friendship have nothing for you now. A friendship or relationship you hoped would grow and expand has not. The time is now to stop knocking on doors that will not open. The reason for these hopes not materialising is that they are not right for you.
Your life purpose, and the things that fuel it and benefit you, are elsewhere. You need to recognise that false hopes and dreams drain your energy and create an emotional cage you must break out of. You are asked to take a different direction and break the cage you have created for yourself.
The door that is closing has given you many lessons. Be thankful for what you have learned. Now, move on.

Death - Transmigration
This card appears right after Birth and Renewal. For something new to enter your life path, something must leave, so do not be scared or concerned about this card. In the Shaman’s world, this card has a similar meaning to the death Card in the Tarot deck.
You could say it is “out with the old, in with the new.”
This card is a message to let go of the things in your life that are holding you back, holding you down. When you let go, the things that do you no good will leave. Things, people, places and animals that do you good and should be with you will stay and grace your spirit with their existence.
Death also encourages you to let go of behaviours, longing, hopes that are not really hopes but baggage you carry with you from past failures and loss.
Let them go… Let them die… let the fears that hold you back leave you as well.
When the Shaman looks at you to help you in the journey of your life, they look at the positive and the good, the wisdom and knowledge that will benefit you as you accept the Birth and Renewal spoken about last week.
You will be stronger and wiser because of what is happening now. Accept it and let it carry you forward.

Birth - Renewal
Birth is about death – the next weekly card Nov 28 – and what is new and replaces what has died.
Birth is transformation – renewal of strength from the experience of being close to death. Closeness to death can be a car accident, it and be a health problem, or it can simply be in the wrong place at the wrong time. But you are alive now and have gained experience and strength from the closeness of ultimate loss.
Lean from the experience and move onward with strength.
Birth is about the steps you take through life. Are you leaving a comfortable job that you have worked at for years and gained recognition for and are now stepping into the unknown of something new? Can you take that step? If not why, what is holding you back when so much is on offer to you if you choose to move forward?
It is time for the Shaman to look into your spirit and see why it is you feel restricted and unable to take the step that Birth and Renewal are asking you to take. It is time for the shaman to give you not just answers, answers you may not like, but are necessary for you to hear.
When you are open to hear the wisdom of the Shaman, Birth and Renewal of your spirit will come to you. This card, followed by the Death card next week, is all about hope and newness and success. But you have to take the step that will bring this about.

Upper World - Future
To the Shaman, the Upper World is where the gods and goddesses exist, where spirit guides welcome you to a place where you can be entirely what you will become.
The World Tree reaches down with its roots to the lower world and ultimately the Underworld. It reaches up with its branches to the Upperworld. Where it appears here, and now, is the material world in which we exist.
The world tree in the card id bending one of its branches down for you so you may climb up the tree to the Upper World. This is where you will find advice and guidance that is a high vibrational energy than what you experience day to day.
The Upper World guidance is about potential. Your potential to grow, be strong, and succeed. This is a time to review your energies and focus on the future. Perhaps you want to focus on the material, but focus is required on the spirit, your spirit. It is the engine inside of your that carries you forward and to achieve.
This is a calling to heal those around you, those you come into contact with. Heal by your presence, your energy, and being. You are the opposite if those who criticize, demean, and objectify.

Alter - Honouring
There is a call to honour those who came before you. You may think of your parents and grandparents. Or, perhaps someone from your family history who did something that profoundly affects your life today. A long past relative that emigrated to a new country where you live and enjoy life.
Of course, you may not know what it would have meant to you to grow up “in the old country” but you know what it means in the here and now.
The altar mentioned here can be literal or it could be figurative. A corner table with pictures from your family history and mementoes could be an altar. It could be a windowsill or shelf near the fireplace. It could be a shelf in a workshop that only you have access to. It could be a park bench where you go to rest and recharge away from the busy world and mind.
It is your intention that matters.
It may include things not from your family history, such as crystals and candles, for burning incense. A crystal may represent earth, red candle for fire, incense for air, blue candle for water, a small mirror for you to look into can represent spirit, your spirit.
The altar focuses your mind and spirit. It is always there to remind you of what and who you are and who came before you, and who will come after you. It is a place where the material and spiritual worlds meet in the here and now.

Shaman – Completion
You are being called on to pay attention to your own needs and wishes so you may know and understand yourself as you look outward to help others.
The role of the shaman is to bring balance and knowledge to the tribe, to the community, to the family and ultimately to the individual.
Each of us has a life purpose, what we are here on this earth to do, to be. Have you lost your direction, lost your purpose? Have you let others direct you in ways that do not match your intuition, your hopes, and your desires? If your father was an engineer and you have followed his path to engineering, but deep down, your soul tells you to be a doctor, the stress and inner fighting leads to wasted time, energy and life force.
It ultimately hurts and does not give you pleasure in your life. You are disconnected and lack vision of your own because you are following another’s.
Take back your life, take back your purpose, and follow it.
Let a shaman help you and guide to your life purpose. Let the shaman guide you and bring you to the soul and purpose you were born for. The shaman may be in you in some form, a form that can manage this transition for you. It may be a shaman you meet or seek whichever way the shaman appears to you. Recognise you have to move slowly and with focus to the path intended for you.
Soul Retrieval – Reclamation
Do you feel lost, uncertain and lost, without direction and confused?
This can come from focusing on the needs of others and helping them to achieve their life path with nothing being given to you. Helping others can drain and leave you unhappy and dispirited, lost and restless.
Trauma, injury, accident, and being close to someone with negative energy can drain you and cause spiritual hurt and confusion.
Helping others can make you give up a fragment of your soul, causing you to be dispirited. As you have helped others, their values, thoughts,

Tree People – Sustenance
Trees sustain so much life. Birds, insect, animals, and their leaves are the lungs of the planet. Under the grass, they support burrowing life and life that rarely comes to the surface.
Shamans look at and appreciate the life of trees and the spirits in them. When a shaman walks amongst trees, they reach out with their spirits and hug the Tree People in the trees. They speak with the Tree People Spiritually.
Trees have a significant part to play in your life and that of a shaman. It is a tree that connects the depths of the Underworld and reaches up to the upper realm of light. The Tree of Knowledge is spoken of in the Book of Genesis. The Bodhi tree is said to have protected The Buddha as he gained enlightenment.
Sitting on the ground at the base of a tree will allow you to connect with the life in the tree and all around it. This simple exercise will awaken the spirit within you. Sitting under trees, as many do in a park and listening to the animals, will also bring awakening. Be thankful for the experience and say so in your thoughts.

Bells - Deflection
Shamans use the sound of bells to ward off evil spirits and dark or lower energies who seek to hurt or damage a person’s soul.
Bells can ring loudly, or be quite mild in tone, yet the meaning is the same as the person ringing the bells or the evil spirits being warned to leave. By tradition, the person ringing the bells is silent. This is so as not to focus the attention of the dark spirits on them.
This is a time to ward off dark spirits trying to damage you or your dreams and intentions. Stay silent and to not let those around you know your intentions, hopes, and goals. In the work space, this can be co-workers who are competing with you for a promotion, or some other advancement or recognition.
Bells may also refer to warning bells intended to warn people away from a truth that someone does not want to share with you or others. Pay attention to the sound of the bells and how intensely they ring and who is silent was they ring the bells. This may lead you to understand what is hidden or where the truth is.
Consider that walking away is not the worst you can do. Negativity and hidden truths drain you and your essential energies. You do not need to suffer that. Do not help others embroiled in the dark energies. They will drain your energies while trying to help themselves.
Shamans use bells to clear spaces and people during ceremonies. Clear your space, your home, your vehicle and your workspace. As you do so, allow the sound of the bells to raise your own spiritual vibration. This will not only help your understanding of shamanism, it will shed the negative energies and allow continue to grow and prosper materially and spiritually in life.

Feathers – Restoration
When you see feathers on the ground recognise, they have been lost by a bird flying overhead. Feathers may come loose for many reasons, but the most likely is the turbulent air.
When you see feathers, ask yourself if you have recently had a rough time. Rough time emotionally, spiritually, or mentally. Have you had a difficult time in your relationship with your partner, your colleagues at work, your relatives, or your children?
How has the rough time affected you? Think of your own soul, not of them.
Allow time to rest and relax, gather your energies and prepare yourself for the next journey in your life.
Some feathers have certain blessings when you see them. Pick them up and keep them. A raven’s feather means magic, rebirth, transition, but above all, renewal.
Now is the time to rest and think of the bird the feather you have picked up came from and find out and absorb the special properties of the bird.

Tree People – Sustenance
Trees sustain so much life. Birds, insect, animals, and their leaves are the lungs of the planet. Under the grass, they support burrowing life and life that rarely comes to the surface.
Shamans look at and appreciate the life of trees and the spirits in them. When a shaman walks amongst trees, they reach out with their spirits and hug the Tree People in the trees. They speak with the Tree People Spiritually.
Trees have a significant part to play in your life and that of a shaman. It is a tree that connects the depths of the Underworld and reaches up to the upper realm of light. The Tree of Knowledge is spoken of in the Book of Genesis. The Bodhi tree is said to have protected The Buddha as he gained enlightenment.
Sitting on the ground at the base of a tree will allow you to connect with the life in the tree and all around it. This simple exercise will awaken the spirit within you. Sitting under trees, as many do in a park and listening to the animals, will also bring awakening. Be thankful for the experience and say so in your thoughts.
Cave – Retreat
It is time to slow down. Not stop! No, do not stop. Just slow down, physically and mentally. You busy egoic mind has you running everywhere and nowhere. Your mind is full of “what if”, or “what else.” Your ego challenges you and then back away and lets you challenge it. This is the useless conversation you have at night about what might have been today and what could be tomorrow.
Caves were safe places our hunter gatherer ancients would retreat to for protection. Now is the time to retreat inwards and let your guides and Spirit wash away the worry and unfounded concerns of your life.
Let yourself find its balance and harmony by breathing in the clean air of life and feel it pass through your lungs into your blood and through your body.

North – Solitude
North Has many Meanings to a Shaman.
North, take you to the land of snow and ice. It speaks of wonder and life gone underground. It also speaks of our ancestors, those who have gone before who we may know during our lifetime and many we cannot because they passed away a long time ago.
It is also a symbol of moving away from those who have no value in our lives. Those who would control and manipulate us, a boss, or a supervisor, perhaps a spouse. Now is the time to move away from them.
It is also time to plan a retreat, a getaway, a time when you can ponder on what has brought you to this point in your life. Contemplating on being alone for the retreat, or even the next few steps after, is not a negative experience. When you have shed those who are not in your best interest to continue with, believe in the resilience and strength in you. Listen to your intuition and the whispered guidance from your ancestors.
Believe in yourself and the strength you have in yourself and how you will move forward. Now is the time to be alone and strong, purposeful and guided by your spirits and guides. Do not let others manipulate and take you on a path that hurts and damages your soul and separates you from the guides given to you at birth.
