Thesis:
Information flows dictate the organizational structure and power centers of society. Major shifts in information technology - the mediums through which we express our stories and ideas - fundamentally change human behavior and the ways in which we coordinate and interact.
These new mediums are generally slow to be adopted and face varying degrees of pushback from entrenched players, typically following the S curve of technological adoption. As with any new medium, early adopters are rewarded for experimenting with these media and set the stage for how these changes proliferate throughout society.
Blockchains are the newest technological medium of human expression, and their fundamental properties of transparency and censorship-resistant ownership promise to change human organization more than perhaps and medium shift of this kind in the past. Blockchains carry forward the shift kickstarted by the internet, creating a new internet native value chain based on open information.
Our belief is that the nature and incentive structure of blockchain technologies will result in a world where everyone who can launch a token will launch a token. The medium is the message, and the message that this medium conveys is of ownership and provenance of all assets - including intangible ones such as stories and information, which are the most valuable. This in turn will lead to a shift in human behavior, turning each individual into a small business owner - their business being their intellectual capital and innovative ideas.
The Cool Hunt’s mission is to process the flood of information and new ideas on this medium and hunt for the cool. We aim to find the innovative and the revolutionary by talking to the coolest people, projects and ideas in the space.
