Letting Go, Letting FlowAre you adrift, feeling like what once was is no longer floating your boat? You are not alone, my friends.

We are in a time of changes and transformative experiences which are happening to many of us, and if we can let go and let flow we can live a life that feels aligned, on purpose, and deeply relaxed.

Relaxed because when we TRUST in the flow of life and let it carry us we don’t need to control every little thing, which is exhaustive. We can navigate the mind’s interference; those narratives, stories, worries, fears that have no basis in reality.

It may sound simplistic to describe it like that, but in essence it is very simple. It’s the ego that doesn’t like to relinquish control and so sets up many resistances that can make it feel like life is hard, life is struggle.

So I encourage you dear friends, to see things from a very different perspective. We are being supported, if not pushed in this direction.

LET GO AND LET FLOWI encourage you to let go of the need to control and start to embrace the things that help you trust more deeply in the flow of life.

Recognize that our need to control comes from fears around survival.

It’s hardest to trust when things feel tough and unknown. And yet it is doable. The hard times ask the hardest of us to trust in the flow of life.

We can view the universe as punishing, or we can view it as always having our back and helping us to get on track and live our full potential and purpose. On track to aligning with the flow of life. Trusting that what might initially seem a disaster was there to help us realign and be on a truer path for ourselves.

Personally, I’ve had lots of this going on in the past 6 months or more. I know I am not alone. We are seriously being guided to align with the flow of life. No more mind thoughts controlling us, but rather diving deep into the nature of reality. Questioning. What is real? Letting go with what no longer works. We feel this in our body energy. The mind has nothing to do with it. The body knows. TRUST in the way the body tells you things. This is one thing I see being pointed to.

In the last 6 months I’ve let go of many things. Some came about with ease, some came with a shock.

For example

  • I let go of my routine teaching yoga in a physical studio environment. It was a fairly long time coming and when it was the right time, everything fell into place and I knew it was the right thing to do.
  • The retreat I have run in Bali at the same time every year for 10 years was suddenly gone for 2025 due to an error with the booking manager who inadvertently gave my spot to another person. (I’m booked in for 2026)
  • Retreats in Mapleton QLD are going ahead with the possibility that the venue may be sold. I've scheduled my retreats with the understanding it could sell and eventually may no longer be available.
  • I looked into re-starting my once a month day retreats that I ran before the coler weather and I planned for more Sept onwards only to find out the venue is now closed for renovations. So I’ll see what else comes or let it go.

Each one of these events and situations I find myself moved towards letting go, and letting flow. It doesn’t mean there were no emotional components and I simply just flowed. For some things that occurred I was upset, angry, and flabbergasted but in the end my TRUST won over.

TRUST relinquishes ControlThat trust helps me let go of what happens and open to other possibilities, including doing nothing at all. Now there is a concept. I wonder because it does sometimes feel like I’m being paused and guided to doing nothing much at this time. I’m curious about that.

One thing that happened in Bali is that I had an opportunity to learn energy healing with a Balinese traditional healer. It was available at a particular point in time and place for me … and I said yes.

I gave energy healing sessions to some of the women on my recent Bali retreats. It’s simple and very effective. Especially as I lean more towards working with energy, rather than words. It's so direct. It’s very powerful and I feel grateful to have this come to me.

I don’t know what’s in store for me with this, or anything else, nor do I need to know or control it in any way.

It’s a freedom to let go and let flow like this.

I hope it inspires you to find your way to let go and let flow.

If you feel you’d like some guidance, I use Human Design to help you gain insights about yourself, your purpose, your gifts and talents. Align & Shine with Human Design

If you are nearby and feel the call to receive an energy healing session, let me know.

Living in Conscious FlowWhat happens when life throws you what seems like a curveball? In hindsight the curveball can be seen as necessary. Perhaps to shift you into another pathway or to align you more to what is correct and true for you at a particular moment in time.

However, at the time, a curveball can throw you off balance, be shocking, or hard to accept..

How we respond to a sudden change of circumstance will either help us be in flow, or be stuck in resistance.

RESPONDABILITYWhen you respond with trust, even if you are freaking out in the moment, you will come to a place of feeling expanded as you adjust to the new energetic flow of life and allow the unknown new direction to slowly reveal itself. The freak-out subsides and you rest in the calming energy of trusting in life's twists and turns.

On the other hand if you resist the ‘adjustment’ there is a feeling of contraction in the body and the mind goes into overdrive trying to control and work it all out. This impedes the natural flow of life.

Most of us want to live a more effortless life.

It requires TRUST

We can’t always know what lies ahead or why things happen the way they do.

Awareness shows us there are two paths:

align with love or align with fear.

In order to align with love there has to be trust in the unknown. Trust in a universal energy and consciousness that is not here to punish, or hurt us. This universal energy is unconditioned love. Not a personal love, but an all permeating force of creation.

Connecting to the flow of lifeWhat is Wu Wei (pronounced woo way)?

It can be described as effortless action that arises from spontaneity.

Do nothing and yet things are done.

An acknowledgement of the invisible yet permeating energy of the Dao: letting one's action follow the simple and spontaneous course of nature.

Meaning that there is no personal “doer” as such who is doing anything. We are in the flow of life and life is a fluid, flexible, free flowing energy that we are part of, not separate from.

How do we follow the course of nature?

What gets in the way?

SUGGESTED TIPS:

Practices to bring you into a deepening self trust:

  • Meditation
  • Consistent connection to nature
  • Time for solitude and reflection
  • Following your intuition and letting it strengthen and guide you, rather than the mind’s tendency to fear and overthink.

If you are called to know your true nature, you will desire to live the way of Wu Wei.

Make this desire to know yourself a devotion to trust in universal consciousness and the mystery of beauty and love that is all around us in creative forms.

Everything always in FluxThis is the “way” This is how life flows.Nothing is permanent or fixed or controlled, even when we think we have control, it’s but an illusion. As simple as this might be to understand, it can be hugely challenging to live this way if we don’t cultivate a deep rooted trust in ourselves and […]

Are you noticing how being more YIN is in?This is a sort of pun, but it’s true that yin reflects the movement into a more feminine energy which IS more of a going “in”, as well as being more receptive, quiet, and passive. But not the kind of passive we’ve learned to equate that word with.

It’s not submissive, or meek.

It’s more like REST, or pause which may SEEM passive, but it’s rest that brings us a quiet strength for our creative life force to move us powerfully into actions and create forms – all in it’s divine timing.

How does this relate to our day to day lives?

It means we can let go of our conditioning to always be busy (thus perhaps feeling important), drop the notions of rest being lazy and judgements that it's a bad thing and know that rest is required.

We can also let go of the conditioning to push to get what we think we want which is a form of forcing. And if you are familiar with the Dao, there is no need to force anything, ever.

Life takes care.

If we pay attention to life’s flow, we can flow serendipitously with life’s signals and directions with ease. No need to go against life’s current and totally exhaust ourselves trying.

Instead, we can LISTENListen deeply to our inner authority that is there to guide us. Understand how it works for you, trust it, and use it so it becomes second nature and always steers you in the direction you are meant to go.

It reminds me of a Japanese word Ikigai, which I was reminded of recently.

Ikigai loosely translates to “reason for being”.Ikigai is your purpose of life and identifying your ikigai takes willingness, perseverance and ongoing refinement which requires you to constantly observe yourself, reflect on your actions, behavior, and how you interact with the world around you.

Every week in my Yoga classes I invite us to set our Sankalpa, an intentional vow you make and commit yourself to.

It can be anything but usually I suggest it center around,

how you want to feel each day and how you want to relate to the world.Your reason for being.

Ikigai is said to be Japan’s secret to happiness.

Helpful tip for the month:Deep LISTENING so you can tune into your inner authority, and to be in flow with your Ikigai. Here is my suggested helpful tip for this month:

  • When you are listening, be aware of your breath simultaneously.
  • This may be listening to another person speak, or it may be listening to sounds in your environment.
  • You can listen AND be aware of your breathing at the same time.
  • See if you notice a shift.
  • If you listen deeply to others by also being aware of your breathing it helps release that automatic movement of mind that's already formulating a response to what’s being said while the person is still speaking.
  • If you listen more deeply to your environment and feel your breath and the senses of your physical body at the same time, you will find the mind noise volume reduce significantly. You rest in the presence of being in the moment.

Give it a go and let me know how you go.

I’d love to know.

P.S. If you want to explore how your inner authority works uniquely for you based on your Human Design, I offer readings. More info here.

I recently heard a description that the sound of OM is an energetic expression of YES.

A deep yes to life.

The vibrational sound of OM is oft described as the sound of creation and it makes vibrational sense that this sound can be translated as an energetic yes to the creative life force flowing throughout the universe.

It reminds me of that wonderful artwork created by Yoko Ono in 1996.

It was a ladder you had to climb to the top, and when you got to the top you looked up and used a magnifying glass that was there to read the tiny writing above. And what you saw magnified was the word YES.

It was called by the NY Times a positive thinking artwork.

But I feel it points to more than positive thinking. It is pointing to something beyond the mind.

Yes as full surrenderA surrender to the illusion of the mind that separates us from all that is.

Without thoughts that separate, there is no sense of duality. There is only connectedness, oneness, and an energetic YES to all that is, and all that happens moment to moment.

Life flows through us, when we don’t resist or try to control it.

Being in flow in this way is a YES to life as it is.

It feels restful to flow with life even in the discomforts.

Trying to control life or resist what’s happening, is like an energetic no to life. And it can feel like struggle, suffering, pain.

Let go and let god. While you may not resonate with the word “god,” you get the drift.

Trusting in the bigger picture, the mystery of life, and learning to trust in how things unfold without trying to control it all.

There is thought and there is reality. And they’re not the sameThe two are not the same even though we may be so totally convinced that they are.

I encourage you to investigate this though.

Start to see that thoughts are simply thoughts and are not reality. Thoughts center on the past or the future and thus veil the immediacy of what’s right here now in all its spectacular splendor. Caught up in past or future thoughts we miss the moment before us.

Yes can feel like a noYes to ourselves sometimes results in a ‘no’ to the outer situations and circumstances.

When we say yes to ourselves we might find ourselves having to say no to others. This can be challenging for us, especially women, who have been trained to be more submissive, polite, don’t rock the boat, care for others first.

This conditioning is unhelpful, even when we’re trying to help.

So the next time you find yourself in a yoga or meditation class or perhaps on your own and you sing the sound OM, feel that opening in your heart and let yourself surrender to life. Let go of your need to control, and trust that the forces of the universe are always supporting you to be true to who you are and not what others would have you be.

It's a deep honoring of yourself as an integral, unique, expression of the whole.

It’s a funny thing about desires vs. conditioning. I remember a time in my 20's walking directly home after work in the city and I panicked. I had nothing to do. Most evenings after work I had something on. I was ALWAYS busy doing something. And this one day there was nothing to do after work […]

This is the question I ask myself when faced with trying to make a correct decision whether to go ahead with something or not. It might sound pessimistic or even negative.   But hear me out,  because it’s not the same as ‘what’s the point’ or similarly, ‘why bother’.  Can I be bothered is a soul searching question […]

What I have fully realised in my wizened crone years is this: Of all the things one can focus on in life, first and foremost in importance is to focus your attention on your own vibration, frequency, resonance on a daily basis. Everything is energy. Science has begun to catch up to what seers, sages, yoginis have known […]

Choiceless Choice Yes exactly this, I said to myself as a series of events unfolded that once again affirmed that destiny, Dharma, a force other than the small ‘me’ is making the choices in life. I may think the me chooses, but do I really? This is the question I have long wrestled with and […]

The shift from fighter to warrioress. My story. Struggle is an addiction to the “fight’.   I’m up for a fight. Those who don’t know me intimately might not see that side of me because I appear as an easy going, peace loving, yoga meditation lover, and gentle soul. Or maybe I kid myself. Maybe […]
