I am a Mexican American mujer who has been on her healing and awakening journey for the last 6 years. This journey has felt lonely at times and I would have loved for there to have been a podcast like this one, so I created it!
Each week I invite fellow Latinx creators who like you are going through their own version of healing & awakening. I hope their stories inspire you, help validate your experience, and remind you that you are not alone! Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/firstgenhealing/support

Hola! This episode is part 2 with Lupita Martinez, a Latina Therapist that focuses on working with impostor phenomenon (syndrome) within black and brown communities. In this episode, Lupita shares some of the root causes of this phenomenon, how it can be affecting other areas of your life, the way therapy helps, and tips that you can implement from home! We hope you enjoy this episode!Get to Know Lupita:
Lupita is a bilingual Chicana psychotherapist raised in predominantly black and brown communities in Southern California. She is the sole owner of the Therapy of the Sun, a private practice located in Norwalk, California. Therapy of the Sun is a Latina-owned small business that offers individual therapy to young professionals of color residing in California. She specializes in working with impostor phenomenon (syndrome) and healing generational wounds that may influence the experience.
It is common for the BIPOC community to experience feelings of self-doubt, people-pleasing, and perfectionism, but in my line of work we are not overlooking the impacts of institutional racism, system oppression, generational trauma, the first gen experience, and individualized experiences; these all have huge impacts on one's personal experience with impostor phenomenon.
Other services offered in and outside of California are interactive workshops, webinars, and additional speaking engagements for the community.
You can follow @TherapyoftheSun on Instagram or visit www.therapyofthesun.com for more information on services, resources, internship opportunities, and upcoming events.

Hola! In this episode I was joined by Elizabeth Sanchez, a Latina Therapist (LMFT). In this Part 2 we dive deeper into Holistic Healing and EMDR therapy. Please don't miss this episode! We touch on such important knowledge like the fact that the body REALY DOES KEEP THE SCORE!Get to Know Elizabeth: Hello my name is Elizabeth Sanchez I am a first generation, Mexican American LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist) based in Southern California. As the daughter of an immigrated family, I have always had a passion for helping others. Especially, those in the BIPOC community and under served communities. That little girl inside of me grew up and pursued a path of higher education at University of La Verne where I earned a BS in Psychology and MFT. During my educational experiences, I became fascinated with holistic approaches and somatic techniques that offer dynamic ways to serve the Mental Health community. As I explored various facets of wellness and therapeutic techniques, I came across EMDR.The more I learned, the more I began to heal from the challenges I faced as a child with an ethnic background and committed myself to internships working with the BIPOC Community. After college, my dream became a clear vision. I married my husband and quickly adopted his philosophy on life: to do everything with "Calidad" which means quality in Spanish. He encouraged me to take a leap of faith and after years of serving our local communities, I began my own private practice in 2019.Now, I have expanded my services in helping my colleagues through EMDR Consultations and Private Practice Consultations. I have also collaborated with a creative team to bring you "Cafecito y Calidad" - a highly caffeinated, quality Podcast featuring discussions with various experts and holistic specialists in the Mental Health field.Follow Elizabeth: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/calidadholisticwellness/Website: https://www.calidadholisticwellness.com/Podcast IG: https://www.instagram.com/cafecitoycalidadpodcast/------------------------------------------ Follow the Podcast & I, Priscilla: TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@firstgenhealing Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/firstgenhealing/ Song - Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!):https://uppbeat.io/t/richard-smithson/high-lifeLicense code: A8SJVGTFUPNYNVLQ--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/firstgenhealing/messageSupport this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/firstgenhealing/support

The more I learned, the more I began to heal from the challenges I faced as a child with an ethnic background and committed myself to internships working with the BIPOC Community.
After college, my dream became a clear vision. I married my husband and quickly adopted his philosophy on life: to do everything with "Calidad" which means quality in Spanish. He encouraged me to take a leap of faith and after years of serving our local communities, I began my own private practice in 2019.
Now, I have expanded my services in helping my colleagues through EMDR Consultations and Private Practice Consultations. I have also collaborated with a creative team to bring you "Cafecito y Calidad" - a highly caffeinated, quality Podcast featuring discussions with various experts and holistic specialists in the Mental Health field.

Hola! In this episode I was joined by Lupita Martinez, a Latina Therapist that focuses on working with impostor phenomenon (syndrome) within black and brown communities. In this episode, Lupita shares how as the youngest and only daughter of 3 she experienced a version of femininity that did not sit well with her and made her lean into a more "tomboy" and rebellious version of herself. I loved how as she explained her healing journey she wove in experiences with her grandmother, parents, and now her own as a mother. We hope you enjoy this episode!Get to Know Lupita: Lupita is a bilingual Chicana psychotherapist raised in predominantly black and brown communities in Southern California. Hola! In this episode I was joined by Juan Vazquez, a Latino who came to the U.S. at the age of 11 and is now starting to use his voice through content creation and podcasting to reach fellow Latinxs. In this episode, Juan and I talk about being the "managers" of the family and how you can take the lead in transforming what that role entails as well as how sometimes what is needed is that you put your ego and pride aside to take the lead on the changes you want to see in your family.
Get to Know Juan: I am very passionate about everything that I do. I always find the meaning behind all of my goals, it’s what drives me to achieve them and keep going when things get difficult. I am a 29 year old Latino that found his voice and is finally telling his story. I see the best in everyone and do my best to uplift and help everyone see what they can’t see for themselves. I think we are our worst critics and it’s hard for ourselves to see how strong and amazing we are as humans beings.

Hola! In this episode I was joined by Father/Apa who is from Mexico and shared with us his story of coming to the U.S. Being that this podcast is for the FirstGen community, my intent for sharing this is to share with you the dynamic that i have been able to create with my father post spiritual awakening/healing journey. For a very long time I craved that my relationship with my parents went beyond the surface level conversations because they left me feeling lonely and not seen growing up. In this episode I share with you a range of topics we talked about including intuitive gifts like sensing energy and channeling (I never thought i'd be able to talk about that with my dad), existential questions, finding happiness within yourself, and ofcourse a bit about the immigrant and first generation american experience.
If this episode resonated - specifically the piece of not being fulfilled by your current life - perhaps because like me you followed the prescribed plan to reach the American Dream ... and you are waking up to a life that you created but your are not fulfilled by ... that is what I focus on as a coach. The doors for my 3 month coaching program PASOS FIRMES are opening soon and I would love to be your coach.
Through this journey, I guide you through connecting with you Inner Poder to get to know yourself on a deeper level and understand what circumstances within your life can be transformed to align you with a more authentic and fulfilling life.

Hola! In this episode I was joined by Michael Lemus - a Latino Entrepreneur, Founder and CEO of Reclaiming Your Happiness with Lemus LLC, Content Creator and Life Coach. We spoke about how as FirstGens we were laser focused on the success path that our parents and society had set out for us without realizing that we were not being our true selves in the process. Michael shares with us the interesting story of how his spiritual awakening started in 2018 and the way that it has steered him in the direction of redefining his vision of success and prioritizing his emotional well being above all. Seeing the lack of representation of FirstGen Latinos / Latinas / Latines going through Spiritual Awakenings on social media platforms inspired us both to post content about this topic and I am so excited that we joined forces on this episode to further discuss.
Get to Know Michael: Michael Lemus is the Founder and CEO of Reclaiming Your Happiness with Lemus LLC, an inclusive platform and business dedicated to helping people find their voice, reclaim their happiness, and align themselves with their life goals. Hola! In this episode I was joined by Emily Tapia - a Latina Entrepreneur, Owner of Tapias Fuego Mix. We spoke about how as Latina women growing up in Mexican households, we noticed patterns and traumas that we didnt wan't to carry through into our adulthood (such as Machismo and Marianismo) and yet found ourselves in relationships that mirrored some of those things. This conversation is a great reminder that ignoring red flags can lead us to situations that we thought we would never put ourselves through. Emily also spoke about her business, Tapias Fuego Mix, a business that she started in 2020 and has since then grown into amazing opportunities for her and her customers.
Get to Know Emily: Emily is a Latina from South Central LA and the CEO of Tapias Fuego. Tapias Fuego is a brand that focuses on offering Mexican inspired products such as Michelada mix and rim paste while hosting events at different corporations with these very products. Tapias Fuego has expanded into bartending services where her latin culture is demonstrated through each drink. Emily’s mission with this business started as simply sharing her love for Micheladas with close family and friends and after these past two years has now become something to share with people all over the world. Despite being a second generation Mexican American in her family, representing her Latina culture was crucial in having this business.

Hola everyone! My name is Priscilla Luna, I am a Mexican American FirstGen and I am the creator and host of FirstGenHealing. As a fellow FirstGen, I understand how layered our experience can be. The weight of the sacrifices and hardships our families have had to go through can weigh heavy on us. The need to make everyone's sacrifices worth it may be the main driving force behind what you have done up until this point.
The thing is FirstGen, chasing the American Dream at any cost, including your own well being is something that has been modeled for us by our families and it is leading many of us straight to burn out. So although we can hold gratitude for everything that it took for us to live a better life, my belief is that there is also room for the acknowledgement that this same experience has left us with many things to heal from and unlearn. This is where healing and awakening come in and although some may view them as two different things, I have found that many times these two journeys are intertwined.
Perhaps it is clear to you that you are on a healing/awakening journey of your own or maybe, you have found yourself resonating with healing and awakening content but don't necessarily know how the FirstGen experience plays into this all. This podcast, FirstGen Healing is a podcast on Latinx healing and awakening journeys. It will focus on OUR stories and each week I will invite fellow FirstGens who like you are going through their own version of healing and awakening. I hope their stories inspire you, help you validate your experience, and remind you that you are not alone. Espero que te guste and please stay connected!

In today's episode I was joined by Georgina Garay-Lozano - a Latina Therapist and Life Coach. We talk about the experience of being first generation Mexican American daughters of immigrants. Many first gens share the experience of being "little adults" (parentified children) from a young age. Georgina shares how as a parentified daughter, the line between what was her responsibility and that of her parents was blurred often and how difficult the journey to separate from that can be.
Get to Know Georgina: Georgina understands that early childhood impacts the way we live our lives today and holds space for healing our inner child. Working with Georgina means diving deep and sometimes exploring hurt that happened in our family in prior generations. Holding space for past hurt and resiliency helps with being more present. She is a trauma trained therapist and uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for relief of symptoms. Georgina is also a mom and recovering parentified child who is discovering new interests.

Nudges that are symptoms in your body that are asking you to heal parts of your past and present.
