Figures In the Dark
Two roommates Tori and Taylor Shay tell stories of all things murderous, paranormal and terrifying that goes on in the dark. A criminology and sociology major sit down and discuss true crime cases and all of the horror in between. Both Tori and Tay have worked as victim's advocates and discuss crime from a victim's perspective and discuss the real causes of crime. Sit down, relax, and beware the figures in the dark.
On this week's episode Tay talks about the harrowing abduction of Carolynne Watson. After being abducted when out on a picnic in the woods with her boyfriend Julian Buchwald, she and him spend the next six days naked, terrified, and lost in the woods trying not to be found by their abductor. However when they are rescued police find who was the culprit and it is not at all who they expected. On this week's episode Tay discusses the tragic unsolved murder of Hazel Irene Drew. Her murder being one that most likely would have been solved had she not been living in a town full of corruption and secrets was one that created lasting legend and legacy. Her murder eventually became local folklore that would would be told to Mark Frost so often that he would later regale David Lynch with the tale inspiring the pair to create the show Twin Peaks!

On this week's episode Tay discusses the case of Mary Kay Letourneau. Mary Kay was 35 years old when she began grooming and molesting her 12 year old student Vili Fualauu. She was sent to prison for a short period of time where she was released within months and within weeks of being paroled she violated her probation by continuing to have a "relationship" with Vili. This relationship never ended and when she completed her sentence when he was an adult the pair married. On this week's episode Tay tells us about the tragic murder of Alexis Sharkey by her husband Tom Sharkey. Just after Thanksgiving in 2020, Alexis, a successful saleswoman for MONAT products goes silent on all of her social media and wasn't responding to any of her friends. Her husband Tom was to everyone around her nearly unconcerned. After months of her telling her friends that her relationship was rocky and at times downright abusive, Alexis went missing and her husband was not reporting it to the police. Tragically the day after she was last seen her body was discovered on the side of the road near her Hustin home. Although it was clear to officers that her husband was responsible nearly 10 months after her death as police came to arrest him, he would make it so he could never pay for his crimes.
