This week, Lorna and Lina sit down with Hiram College's recently appointed 24th President, Rob Bohrer, Ph.D. Together, they discuss the importance of community involvement, environmental action, and student experience. President Bohrer outlines his vision for the college, relations with the Hiram Village, and his initiatives in this rich conversation. Tune in to hear about the campus' eclipse celebration, upcoming events in the three week term, and more in this jam-packed episode!
Week 12 is on the horizon and that means end of the semester festivities! Next week has a bunch of events like the Evening of Hiram Writers, a Death Cafe, and... SUGAR DAY! This episode is all about Hiram's celebration and showcase of experimental learning Sugar Day. Lina and Lorna are joined by Meaghan Stafford '24 and Nathan Cooper '27 who talk all about their experience with research, presentations, and all that Sugar Day has to offer.
Lorna and Lina invite listeners back after a much-needed spring break. This week, they're joined by Black Student Union president Drew Thompson. Drew brings his first-year perspective to the podcast and shares insights to how to be inviting to freshman students. Vogel shares her Hiram story, Olympic Games experiences, and her honest opinion of student workers. This week, Lorna and Lina sit down with Jared Lapointe and Jasmine Thompson, two of Hiram's AmeriCorps Service Members! AmeriCorps staffs the Student Resource Center and manages the HAPPI Place (Hiram Access Pantry for Personal Items). The AmeriCorps Service Center works to remove nonacademic barriers for students. The Center offers help to students connecting with local and on-campus resources like counseling, emergency funding, transportation and more. The Stone Soup Co-op is a vegetarian and vegan student-run kitchen that provides a safe space for students with dietary restrictions or any students interested in having a space to find ethically sourced foods.
