This podcast is more so of a voice journal for Ami. She shares her experiences and things she learns as she goes. This podcast is like sitting down with an old friend and having a heart to heart over a cup of chai or coffee (whatever you prefer, this is a judgement free zone).
Part 2 of 3, audio journal, reflecting on things that used to keep me, and continue to keep a lot of people comfortable in the “mediocre” zone

hustle hard. rest harder (it will all be fine, you will achieve your vision board on 8 hours of sleep)
Feel like you don’t connect with anyone? Feeling disconnected can make you question who you are and if you will ever make any meaningful connections at all. You don’t have to feel it this way. It will get better my friend :)
Got to appreciate the apples for being an apple and an orange for an orange than judging it for its sweetness :)
Another episode. Another piece of content. It is all too much. Information overload and the age of brain rot.
Do you feel that your person is in love with someone that you’re not? Or maybe you haven’t been kind enough to yourself to know that you’re loved 🫂
Enough episodes about my lover girl era, lover girl needs to get a job to take her lover boy out on a date too 😌
20s and 30s can be a time in our lives when we don’t know what is the next thing we should do to “maximize the life experience”. But maybe it is because there is no right “should”. Just pondering.
Being in love is all fun and games until you lose your ground. Here is how I stay grounded while navigating new emotions (hypothetical, but I be prepared for when that will happen 👁️👁️)
Not always. Sometimes it is a test to toughen yourself up to keep what you are asking for. But sometimes it is, protection from what is not meant for you. I’m no philosopher, just a certified yapper. Ami :)
sometimes the only way to find out if it is going to work, is to- DO IT! you’re too young to have regrets about “what if”, might as well just know; what is going to happen if you do try. :) you’re more competent that you think ;)
Ever thought you made the right decision but that decision sabotages you? Later it turns into guilt. Well. Can’t change the decision, want to get over it? (It will be fine)
Here is a little throwback episode, a topic and a lesson learnt that still holds true :)
Anything can be a meditation if you take your brain away from it. Ami’s recent peaceful go to method :) (totally not created by me, just journaling what is the new thing that I am trying at the moment that has been helpful to me)
Journaling entry for gentle reminder that “feeling tired” should prompt you to take rest. Come back stronger.
Took me a while to learn, but better late than never. Knowing when and where to ask for help can aid in moving forward and accessing plateaus in growth.
This one was a response to a prompt I received. The prompt was “what are so,e “red” flags to looks out for in south Asian men in dating context”.
Like is good, I believe in inherent goodness of this world, but sometimes, there will be curveballs and I am learning how to deal with that. It is a journey.
20s might feel like a juggle between wanting more while being thankful for what you have. A little reminder, you can do better :)
TLDR- we are just not 13 anymore and there is more to think about than just “feels” but there is a good news. Peace, Ami
Made your resolutions? Good. Now will you keep them? If you can’t at the moment, let your alter ego deal with those for now. (Not professional advice, it is just what works for me) Peace, Ami
Life is too short to live in a shell, and again, life is too long to spend it all in a shell. It is okay, dare to be weird, no one cares. It is good news. Peace, Ami :)
If there is one thing you must learn growing up in South Asian Community, is how to protect your boundaries. We all have experience with “aunties” asking very personal out of pocket questions, but you don’t have to be rude, here are some ways to establish your boundaries without offending anyone at the next family dinner. ☕️,Ami
I promise, no one will remember you being awkward any more than you will replay that conversation in your mind. Peace, Ami

Growing up can be a lonely process, however it is not a nice feeling when you feel lonely with people around you. There are ways to cope. Peace-Ami :)
Is there a way to do it all? October is incredibly busy for university students. Here is one way that helps me find balance:)
Criticism is good and builds character but not every “critique” is meant to be taken to heart. Moreover, you have to be critical (hehe see what I did there) about who you pick your mentors to be. Picking the right mentors can make it or break it in your 20s. Be smart about it.(there is a lot of advice, not every advice is good advice) Peace,Ami
Not knowing pain is a curse source - trust me bro (just kidding, more in today’s episode :) Peace - Ami
What if one day you woke and you had everything you’ve asked for. Ironically enough, it is probably not a good space to be in. A journal prompt idea - Peace,Ami
The God Delusion - Richard Dawkins is a good book for sure but it gave me a positive note about thinking about life and maybe (maybe) a world without “god”. Peace, Ami
Being raised by South Asian parents meant that sometimes it is weird to talk about certain things. However, once you start talking to them, and test waters, it does get better and it adds to your relationship with them. (This is not advice, just my experience). All the suggestions to email - amikkalsi@gmail.com

It is great to read books and listen to podcasts about becoming better, but there are better ways. Redundancy doesn’t lead to something great.
Not the greatest feeling to see people you invited post about something else, but maybe there is an underlying reason to the exclusion? - just an insight from a not cool kid. You’ll be aight, your authenticity is more valuable than that invite♥️
Just a little work in progress learning. Humility is a virtue. But there are definitely times, when you need to take command to claim for what’s your worth. With love, Ami

“Everything will be fine”, “the night doesn’t last forever”. It’s a great way to navigate life however, it can feel like lying to yourself. Here’s how I realistically apply this in my life.
Bias has a negative connotation to itself as a word. In this episode, the focus is on “opportunistic bias” and “loss aversion”, 2 types of many cognitive biases. I share how being aware of their existence, I use them, “utilize” them to make decisions or choices that help me to keep myself more grounded while navigating the very uncertain phase of “early 20s”. Much love, Ami.
Do they? Yes and no. More on this in today’s episode. Have thoughts on this? DM me on IG @amikkalsi or you can email your thoughts to amikkalsi@gmail.com

5 things my mentors, parents told me that have become my toolkit to navigate early 20s. This episode was the best way I could condense it down, how it became easier for me to transform my life and myself in the last two years.
5 “weak” things that make you strong. To clarify, these things are not “weak”, they are just how our brains have conditioned us to believe. When done right, these things can be a great toolkit to navigate “growing up”. With Love,Ami

This is not about being a bad human, this is about being bad at something. Bad at cooking, and why it is great to try things you know you will be bad at. Sharing my stories of “being bad”. Love, Ami
