💠 About: Tyler Hubbard on Losing His Father and the Road to Superstardom

In this powerful episode of The Good Grief Good God Show, Brad Warren sits down with multi-platinum artist and songwriter Tyler Hubbard for one of his most personal conversations to date.

As a founding member of Florida Georgia Line, Tyler helped shape modern country music with 19 No. 1 hits and record-breaking success. But behind the stadium tours and chart-topping singles is a story marked by deep loss, faith, and personal growth.

Tyler opens up about losing his father at a young age and how that loss shaped his identity, his drive, and his relationship with God. Brad and Tyler discuss:
• Losing a parent and carrying grief into adulthood

• Leaving a record-breaking duo to find your own voice
• Success, identity, and what really matters
• The cost and calling of superstardom

🟥 GUEST: JAKE ALLYN

🌐 Website (Brookes House): https://brookeshouse.org/

🌐 Website (Jake Allyn IMDb): https://www.imdb.com/name/nm5923409/

💠 About: In this episode of The Good Grief Good God Show, Brad Warren sits down with Jake Allyn, an actor, writer, and director whose work explores faith, identity, and the moral complexity of broken systems. Jake shares the deeply personal story behind a film he has been developing, a project that centers on a law enforcement officer forced to confront the limits of the justice system when addiction hits his own family. Told from the perspective of a filmmaker rather than an advocate, the story wrestles with accountability, compassion, and the emotional toll carried by those sworn to uphold the law. The documentary is still in development, with no release date announced.

From his Texas roots and football career at Cornell to his work in television and film, including The Quad, No Man’s Land, and Ride, Jake reflects on how storytelling can open honest conversations about addiction, faith, responsibility, and redemption. This is a raw and thoughtful conversation about the tension between duty and grace, the cost of silence, and why some stories refuse to let go until they’re told.

🟥 GUEST: MATT PEVETO

🌐 Website: MattPeveto.com

Since 2019, I have served as an Executive Producer and Showrunner, overseeing every aspect of multi-camera productions, from set design and concept development to post-production, marketing, and distribution. I have produced over 70 episodes across various shows, including The of hf te rte owned ticketing providers.

While earning my degree in Journalism at Texas A&M University, I worked in TV sports production with ABC Sports, ESPN, and FOX Sports, and at the PBS station on the A&M campus. Also, while at A&M, I founded Mustang Music Group, launching my career in the music industry.

After graduating from Texas A&M in 2000, I dove headfirst into the music business, building Mustang Music Group into one of Southeast's largest independently owned booking agencies. As a booking agent, I played a key role in launching the careers of influential artists such as 2x ACM Award winner Jack Ingram, Randy Rogers Band (recognized in 2024 for surpassing one billion streams), 2012 ACM Song of the Year winner Eli Young Band, Cory Morrow and Jason Boland. In addition to booking, I founded the ZiegenBock Music Festivals, expanding them across three Texas markets. From 1997 to 2012, I also managed Lake Bryan, a 600-acre public lake and live music venue. In late 2012, I decided to transition out of the music industry.

In the summer and fall of 2012, I briefly worked in the Houston Rockets' marketing department before joining WWE in 2013 as a Live Event Marketing Manager in their Atlanta office. In that role, I oversaw ticketing and marketing for events across the Southeastern region. I left WWE in 2014.

From 2015 to 2024, I served as a sales manager and live event consultant at Etix, where I maintained nearly 100% client retention while securing some of the company's largest live music venues and event clients. I also consulted for live music venues, festivals, and event producers on optimizing bookings, ticketing strategies, streamlining operations, and increasing profitability. I resigned from Etix in July 2024.

Since 2019, I have served as an Executive Producer and Showrunner, overseeing every aspect of multi-camera productions, from set design and concept development to post-production, marketing, and distribution. I have produced over 70 episodes across various shows, including

The Jackin' Around Show, hosted by two-time ACM Award winner Jack Ingram; The Good Grief Good God Show, hosted by Emmy Award winner Brad Warren and the upcoming Up Close and Personal, hosted by actor Eric Close, known for his roles in Nashville , Without a Trace, and Suits. I have booked and hosted various high-profile guests, including Grammy-winning artists, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, and Olympic gold medalists.

Beyond my career, I am a man of strong faith and a devoted Christian. My wife, Dori, has worked in management for nearly 20 years at Southwest Airlines; I am the proud father of two teenage boys, Preston and Jack, and a baby girl, Perri.

🟥 GUEST I TULLY KENNEDY

Tully Kennedy was 21 years old when he left upstate New York for Los Angeles in 1996. Growing up in Redford, population 600, he had spent his teens playing bass in cover bands and was ready for the next chapter in his career.

On his way to the West Coast, he detoured in Nashville to visit his uncle, a staff songwriter at Warner-Chappell Publishing. The plan was to spend a few months there and move on. Growing up on rock music, with an affinity for The Police, U2, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Kennedy admittedly knew and cared little about country music, other than the “badass and edgy” outliers Steve Earle and Dwight Yoakam.

Within a week of his arrival, he met Michael Knox, who was running Warner-Chappell and working with a new artist named Jason Aldean. Kennedy soon found himself in the company of studio veterans like Michael Rhodes and Mike Brignardello, and discovered that the Nashville recording scene was, in fact, eye opening.

“I realised there was a lot of stuff going on,” he says. “I wanted to work in the studio, and Michael Knox got me started right away. I learned quickly how incredible it is to be able to do that here. Nashville does things very fast, and being a studio musician here is challenging. You don’t spend two days on a song; you’ve got a half-hour. You’ve got to be able to go in and come out with a great rhythm section in two or three takes.”

Kennedy recently received his first CMA Triple Play Award, for the Jason Aldean smashes reaching #1 in a 12-month span: “Blame It On You”, “Trouble With A Heartbreak”, and “If I Didn’t Love You” (with Carrie Underwood).

🟥 A MESSAGE FROM BRAD ABOUT BRETT

A Message from Brad – “What can I say about my brother? We have literally shared a 30-year career. He might be the best human being I know, and when the shit hits the fan, you most definitely want him on your team. We don’t agree on everything (that would make for a really boring conversation) but we have shared more of the same life experience than any other 2 people I know. It’s crazy how much Brett and I feel the same thing at the same time so often. It’s probably how we’ve written 2,500 songs together. Or maybe it’s the 2,500 songs that have made us so close. Either way, this was a unique experience for me, and I’m grateful to my brother for so many things it’s difficult for me to express. For part one of the season finale, Brett & I had a cozy and, at times, funny conversation about music, faith, family, friends, and the podcast. For Part Two, coming out on Tuesday, September 19, we waste no time diving into grief and the loss of Sage. Part two was extremely difficult in a few places, and you’ll know what I’m referring to when you see it. With that said, Michelle and I promised each other when we started this show that we would be authentic, with raw and honest conversation, no matter what, and this one is definitely authentic. – Brad

🟥 GOOD GRIEF GOOD GOD SHOW HOSTED BY BRAD WARREN of the Warren Brothers
The Good Grief Good God Show (https://goodgriefgoodgodshow.com) is hosted by Grammy Nominee, and Emmy & 15X BMI award-winning hit songwriter of fifteen top #10 country songs, including nine #1's, Brad Warren of the Warren Brothers (https://warrenbrothers.com//).  Join Brad monthly on the first and third Tuesdays, in audio or on YouTube for RAW, HONEST CONVERSATION ABOUT SURVIVING THINGS THAT SUCK.

Following the immense success of his 20-year career in the music industry, Warren's family was forever changed following the loss of his firstborn son, Sage, to an accidental fentanyl overdose in 2020. Warren discovered a place of healing when he connected with his peers and those who have been through the familiar and often taboo topic of loss. His grief led him to peel back the curtain on the rarely talked about subject of grief—while offering deeply personal stories of his journey to living with loss—in hopes this show connects with those going through the long-lasting process of healing.

▶ A Message from Brad about Sonya – "Sonya Isaacs of The Isaacs is one of the sweetest voices in Gospel music, but her soul is even more beautiful than her music. Her story of loss and redemption resonated deeply with me, and my instinct is it will do the same with you. Prepare for a moving episode as Sonya shares her deep pain of losing a child and how God's grace heals everything." – Brad

During her solo adventure with country label Lyric Street Records, where she recorded two albums, one produced by Vince Gill, who she also toured with, she began writing songs professionally. ▶ A Message from Brad about Ernest – “Ernest is one of the most gifted and successful songwriters/artists in today’s Nashville. He’s written so much of Morgan Wallen’s music that it’s hard to separate them. I met Ernest nearly ten years ago at a high school baseball game. He gave my son Sage hitting lessons, and Sage and my whole family fell in love with him and his music. Brett and I had the honor of introducing Ernest to the music business and signing him to his first publishing deal with Sony. He’s like my brilliant little brother, and I’m honored to have him on the show. He and Sage were close, and he sang at Sage’s funeral. We share a lot of laughs, some sad times, hope for the future, and an honest love for my boy. Ernest is all 3 of my son’s favorite recording artists, and he has a way of making every room happier. Any day with him in it leaves me with a smile; this day was no exception.” - Brad

She has one of the greatest voices in country music. She has co-written many huge songs, including two of my favorites, "Automatic," recorded by Miranda Lambert, and "Rainbow" by Kacey Musgraves.  She is also a member of The Highwomen (Brandy Carlisle, Maren Morris,  Amanda Shires). But the greatest thing about Natalie is who she is, not what she does. She is one of my close friends who has done life the right way.  Her faith, talent, humility, serenity, and grace are second to none. I'm blessed to know her and call her my friend.” – Brad.

🟥 BILL LOKEY

▶ A Message from Brad - "Bill Lokey is a renowned therapist and was formerly the Senior Clinical Director at Onsite. He counseled Michelle, Jude, Quinn and I when Sage passed and I found him to be one of the wisest, kindest men I’d ever been in a room with. He is currently in a major battle with cancer yet agreed to come on the podcast in hopes that someone might be helped or comforted. That’s who Bill Lokey is. Be prepared for your mind to be taught and your heart to be touched. - Brad"

▶ Guest Bio - Bill is most renowned as a husband to Laurie, a father, and grandfather. On stage, he served as Senior Clinical Director at Onsite for ten years where he supervised over 70 therapists throughout the U.S., trained professionals in experiential therapy, and designed programs that were attended by people from all over the world.

He now gives presentations about trauma, rising through adversity, overcoming codependency, connection in relationships, the impact of a self-protective culture in your workplace, burnout in helping professionals, sexual intimacy in relationships, and others. Along with his wife Laurie, Bill conducts engaging experiential workshops for leadership of churches and organizations to repair their culture and strengthen their trust, along with marriage workshops for groups and couple’s intensives.

Licensed as a senior psychological examiner for over 23 years and certified as a level 3 experiential therapist with the American Society of Experiential Therapists, Bill also sees some private practice clients to help them discover and work through what is getting in their way. He has extensive experience with individuals and couples dealing with the effects of trauma, feeling stuck, relationship damage, anxiety, grief and loss, spiritual disconnection, and those looking to regain motivation for life. Bill’s passion is to help leaders whose lives have been broken or impaired find the hope of a tenaciously loving God and the healing that leads them to serve the world.

Importantly, Bill and Laurie do have a life! They love to take off on their bikes for rides, they love to snow ski, to hike when they travel, but most of all to get down in the floor and play with their nine grandchildren! Their personal relationship with God is the thing that sustains them through hardship and guides them in abundance. Their lives and faith are brimming with stories of God’s mercy and grace. Your life will be better after being with them.

🟥 J.T. HARDING

▶ A MESSAGE FROM BRAD – “JT Harding is a cartoon character. His life and back story seem like they couldn’t possibly be real. His famous real father, his adopted family, and the tragedy they endured, and his bumpy journey in the music business all sound like plots in a novel. He is hyper, optimistic, talented, funny, and crazy. His unlikely life is chronicled in his autobiography ‘Party Like a Rockstar’. – Brad

▶ J.T.’S BIO – J.T. Harding was born and raised in South Detroit. While other kids were on the baseball field, J.T. was in his basement jumping around to MTV and trying to write his own songs. He put together several bands in high school and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream. J.T. made his first demo tape with prize money he earned by winning the VH1 game show Rock & Roll Jeopardy!

He has since written several chart-topping hits, including “Smile” with Uncle Kracker, “Somewhere in My Car” with Keith Urban, “Somewhere with You” and “Bar at the End of the World” for Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley’s “Different for Girls,” Jake Owen’s “Alone with You,” and Blake Shelton’s number-one song “Sangria.” His memoir/how-to book, Party Like a Rockstar, released in February 2022 and quickly reached number one on Amazon in the songwriting category. 🟥 A MESSAGE FROM BRAD ABOUT TODAY'S GUEST

"Ashley Cleveland is one of those musicians that other musicians respect. She has won 3 Grammys and a bunch of other awards but her story is so much more than that. Ashley and I share a common battle with addiction and I was able to hear her story in person with my son Sage before he passed. Her story is powerful, raw and honest. Everything I love. She also wrote an amazing book called “Little Black Sheep” that I read years before I met her. Her wisdom and transparency are always on display and she helps me view God the way I need to view him. Enjoy!" - Brad

🟥 A MESSAGE FROM BRAD ABOUT TODAY'S GUEST, TIM O'NEILL"Tim is one of my best friends in the whole world. He is a sports agent but goes completely against any douchey stereotype one may have for sports agents. He is a fellow recoverer. He is wise, kind, giving, encouraging, loyal and funny as hell. He has worked with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment and though his story doesn’t contain the kind of grief that mine does we share a similar take on the world, God and friendship. Tim had an independent relationship with my son Sage because that’s who he is. It would never have been enough for him to love Sage just because he was my son. He has never met a stranger and I learn something from him every time we are together. 🟥 CASEY BEATHARD

Casey Beathard is an American country music songwriter. The son of former NFL general manager Bobby Beathard, and father to current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback C. J. Beathard, and country music artist Tucker Beathard, he has co-written singles for several country music recording artists, including top-ten singles for Gary Allan, Billy Ray Cyrus, Trace Adkins, Kenny Chesney, and Eric Church.

In 2004 and 2008, he received Broadcast Music, Inc.'s Songwriter of the Year award for his contributions. Beathard moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1991 to find work as a songwriter. After finding work at various jobs in Nashville, he was eventually signed to a songwriting contract; his first cut as a songwriter was the title track of Kenny Chesney's 1998 album I Will Stand, which was released as a single that year. (Chesney later recorded "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems", another Beathard co-write, in 2002. By the 2000s, many other country music artists had recorded Beathard's material, including Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, Tracy Byrd, and Billy Currington.

For his contributions as a songwriter, Beathard received a Songwriter of the Year award from Broadcast Music Incorporated in 2004 and 2008. In 2006, he received his first credit as a record producer, when he co-produced the track "I Wanna Feel Something" on Trace Adkins' Dangerous Man album. This was also Adkins' first co-production credit. n A year later, Beathard received additional honors from BMI as the co-writer of Tracy Lawrence's single "Find Out Who Your Friends Are", Lawrence's first number one in eleven years, and the first single for his personal Rocky Comfort label.

His son Clayton, a quarterback at Long Island University, was fatally stabbed during an altercation that began at around 2:50 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019, outside of the Dogwood Bar & Grill in Nashville

🟥 GUEST – AIMEE MAYO

MAYO’S SONGS HAVE SPENT 25 WEEKS IN THE #1 SPOT ON THE BILLBOARD CHARTS, AND ALBUMS FEATURING HER SONGS HAVE SOLD OVER 135 MILLION UNITS WORLDWIDE.

Aimee grew up in Gadsden, Alabama, and moved to Nashville at twenty to write songs, but that turned into waiting tables. When she was 23, she had Her first song on the radio "Places I've Never Been by Mark Wills, and since then, her songs have spent twenty-six weeks in the #1 spot on the Billboard charts and albums featuring her songs have sold over 155 million units worldwide.

Throughout Aimee's nomadic childhood, she never lived anywhere for long. She bounced between her grandparents' homes in Gadsden, Alabama, and changed schools eleven times before fourth grade.  Aimee wrote her first song at the age of 8 with her father, Danny Mayo, a few months after her parent's divorce. According to her mother, Aimee always had a notebook with her and was obsessed with writing poetry. As a teen, Aimee was surrounded by music. Her late father wrote hits for numerous country artists. Her brother Cory Mayo went on to write "You'll Be There," a hit for George Strait.

Mayo is one of the few females to receive both BMI's Country Song of the Year, and BMI's Country Songwriter of the Year— putting her in the company of— Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, and Loretta Lynn. "Amazed," recorded by Lonestar that same year, is her most popular song to date. In 2004 it garnered an 8 Million Plays award from BMI, vaulting it into the top 125 songs in the BMI catalog out of 6.5 million works. "Amazed" also won ACM (Academy of Country Music) Song of the Year, NSAI Song of the Year, and crossed over to the pop charts and spent two weeks at the top of the Hot 100.

Mayo's song "This One's for the Girls," recorded by Martina McBride, went on to be a theme song for the morning show "The View." Aimee was also a judge on the TV show, "Can You Duet.  Mayo has penned songs for Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Sara Evans, Backstreet Boys, Kellie Pickler, Caitlyn Smith, Boys to Men, and many more.

🟥 GUEST BIO – AL ANDREWS

In 1999, Al Andrews was a counselor in a private practice in Nashville. After two years of counseling, he noticed that most of his clients were involved in the music business. A number of those clients were artists. After seeing artists for a while, he noticed something else. Because of their ever-changing schedules, artists couldn’t come regularly and many, particularly in the early years, couldn’t afford the hourly fee. In addition, it seemed to him that artists, given the unique lives they live, needed something other than a counseling appointment now and then to deal with the issues they face.

In 2001, upon the recommendation of a friend, Al set up an appointment with Peter York. At that time, Peter was the President of Sparrow Records. The two men had a conversation about the health of artists and within several months, Al was given a generous grant by the Sparrow Foundation to start a pilot project. Their only stipulation was that we would see artists from any label, not just EMI.

After three months of meeting with artists (at no charge), all of those involved realized that something good was happening. Artists had a place to go to be off-stage and a guide to help them. At the end of the pilot program, Bill Hearn and Peter met with Al and encouraged him to develop a plan to start a 501c3 non-profit organization whose purpose was to come alongside artists. Within 6 months, other industry leaders and labels joined in and Porter’s Call was born.
