Hello guys. We are finally gonna file marriage application in Japan this week. There are many more steps to get my partner a spouse visa but this is definitely a huge milestone for us. It has been really difficult for both of us until we reached here though. It must have been a happy thing, but obstacles we have faced so far was tough. We both cried, felt depressed and was this close to give it up. Still...here we are!

Probably the most difficult thing for a interracial couple to get over with. Family. You might find yourself stuck between your partner and your family. Nobody wants to hurt anybody but somehow we hurt each other. It's not easy but slowly I'm finding my own path to the other side. Hopefully this episode could comfort anyone with similar issues.

I'm so sorry for not updating you on the visa situation. At the end he got the visa and now he is here, living with me in Japan! But it is not all about happy stories. We are facing new challenges currently. And I'm not sure at all how things will turn out.
The audio quality is not great today. My microphone has been broken so I recorded this episode on my phone. I hope you would understand. Thanks!

It has been getting more and more unrealistic for Japan to open the border to foreigners without visa so we decided to apply for a short stay visa. While we hope for the best result, we are not sure what to expect. Fingers crossed!

The things are getting worse and worse in every area of the world it seems, but let's try to focus on tiny little aspect of beauty in your life for a moment whenever possible. It is harder to do than to say I know. But I know from experience that attitude has helped me a lot so far.

As to our plan to get married while living apart, thing are not going well. But when I think about what is happening in Ukraine, issues I have seem to be nothing. I feel powerless cause there is not much I can do...today it is just a brief chceck-in!

Now getting a little bit more serious about marriage. Met a legal specialist for counsel last Sunday. It will be a long, challenging and dreadful process at times from what she told me, but we are considering it. Haven't seen your partners for a long time because of COVID? What is your plan to meet him/her this year?

A new year with no prospect to see each other due to the COVID situation. An extreme situation calls for an extreme mean? My partner and I have been talking about getting married while living apart for us to see each other finally after a looooong time. Sometimes it seems like the craziest idea ever. Then other times it seems to be an only options for us.

December has been a crazy month for me. I was not that busy in terms of work but my mind was so busy! Went through emotional roller coaster if you will. I don't wanna go into the new year without saying anything to you guys so I just recorded a small bit. I hope you will stick around here next year! Happy new year and see you soon. :))

It has been almost three years since we met in person the last time. Although we chat every day, do video calls regularly, I fear we might feel differently. I can't pin point exactly what I am afraid of...there are some elements I think. But the fear is real and this is what has been bothering me for a while. Is there anyone who could relate to this unsettling feelings??

Do you have the same hobby as your partner? For us it is definitely reading! Since it is the most cozy time in a year it is also the best time for reading. :)) I'm currently reading ' The game of thrones'.  Yes yes, I'm aware that I'm too late for the party but well it is what it is. I annoy my partner constantly by many stupid questions which potentially spoil crucial part of the story. Hehe.

Recently I started to thing about what it is like to live in Japan as an interracial couple more often and more seriously. Have heard many struggles from some friends. I don't wanna be too pessimistic...but I wanna be mentally prepared for the future.

There is no right way to manage LDR. It's tough. But I learnt so much throughout our journey so far. Here are some things that I have always on my mind. It's obvious and maybe cheesy but more difficult to actually do than you might think.

Although this podcast is about relationship, it inevitably involves family from both sides. Have been struggling with how to get to know each others's family when they live in a different country and they speak different language. Is there anyone who can relate?

Hi there! Welcome back. This episode is about language and communication. My partner and I have communicated in English which is not a mother tongue for either of us. There have been so many struggles but we learnt a lot through this experience. I hope you enjoy this episode! :))

A humble thought on love while living apart. It sounds a cheesy cliche but I believe that it is so true that you love yourself, take care of yourself first and foremost to love someone. Easy to say and super difficult to do! As to covid situation, we have not been doing great in here Japan. Please stay safe, whoever it is listening to the show. :))

A random episode recorded when I felt the worst. Many things including the pandemic, quarantine and being apart for such a long time from him have taken a toll on me.

Hi! How have you been coping with loneliness during the pandemic? Me? Well I'm not exactly coping with it, honestly. Juts trying to live with it. The number of the newly infected has spiked up in Osaka for the last few weeks. Still can't see the end...

Hello! Welcome to my very first episode on Living Apart Diaries. This episode is an introduction of the show. I would like to build a lovely community for people in long distance relationship to support each other. With the covid the situation around us is getting more and more tough. I really do hope that you could feel relaxed, not alone and a little bit of hope. :))
