Tune in to the KAP's latest segment taking a weekly look at issues affecting Queenslanders.

This week KAP leader Robbie Katter reflects on the failure of the Queensland ALP and LNP to support the KAP's alternative sentencing options in the face of spiralling youth crime and recent polls which reveal the crisis is affecting more and more people.

Robbie also presents a powerful rebuke of the Voice to Parliament, not because we don't want to see the woeful conditions of First Australians improving, but because we believe this concept is fundamentally flawed and only distracts from the task of coming up with real solutions.

In the latest instalment of Robbie Katter's podcast, KAPcast, Robbie does some mythbusting around biofuels, particularly E10, with the CEO of the Institute of Automotive Engineers, Peter Blanshard.

The biofuels industry in Queensland has stalled since the State Labor government stopped backing E10, with consumer confidence in the virtues of the fuel blend suffering as a result.

Who better than the CEO of one of the foremost peak bodies representing motor mechanics in Australia to set about addressing some of the shibboleths, myths and mis-information aggregating around putting E10 in your car.  Peter and Robbie come to the conclusion that there are really very few negatives in putting E10 into relatively new cars, as cars built in the 2020s are being engineered specifically to accept E10.

“Mining is one of those things that is synonymous with the development of Queensland.  At the KAP we’re not as interested in developing an economy through the Olympics and big parties.  We think that mining and primary industries need some focus.”

The region known as the North West Minerals Province (NWMP), which includes Mount Isa and Cloncurry, is one of the world’s richest mineral-producing regions. The region has delivered significant economic benefits to Queensland for generations and is home to vast deposits of copper, lead, zinc, silver, and a plethora of so-called “green” metals essential to developing renewable energy technologies.

So why isn’t the Queensland state government doing more to unlock the wealth of this region by investing in enabling infrastructure, like roads and rail, and transmission lines to get cheaper power to the NWMP?

Few people know the potential of the region more than Robbie Katter, KAP leader and local member for Traeger, the electorate encompassing the NWMP … with the possible exception of the man Robbie chats to in this podcast, mining consultant Jon Loraine.
