The regular season for fall sports is coming to a close so we wrap up the fall sports season with some remarkable showings by the athletes. A cross country runner placed in the Top 10 at the U.P. Meet in Gladstone earning back-to-back all-state laurels. The volleyball team improved as the season went on and they had an extremely successful night off the court to raise money for the local cancer fund. In football, multiple records fell this season including a 40-year-old passing record set by former Maroon Coach Joe Noha.
We preview the playoff race in volleyball and football with what teams the Maroons will face and possibly in the future. Are you wondering how the playoffs are determined? A breakdown of both volleyball and football is explained if you can follow along!
Mini-Maroons is winding down with fall sports at the Hornets closed off the season with a win in their M&M Game. The M&M YMCA flag football league continues to be strong, and we take a look at some games that feature our 3rd through 6th graders.
We are approaching the midway point with youth football in the area as we are approaching the start of the M&M YMCA youth flag football league. Youth Sports Coordinator Joe Plautz joins me as we look into the inner workings of the 4th-6th grade youth flag league the YMCA offers to the area. We go beyond football and hit on some other offerings they have as well. We wrap up our conversation with some past TimberJack memories and what was involved with the former M&M T-Jack football program.
With Mini-Maroons this week the 4-6th grade football teams took on Peshtigo and the Hornets traveled to Allouez. The 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams notched wins over Stephenson and Escanaba. The Maroon Minute features some details regarding all of the Maroons fall sports contests regarding Cross Country, Tennis, Volleyball and Football. We will also look into the game schedule for all sports for the week 9/15-9/22.
We take a break from football this week to have a chat with Girls Tennis Coach Nikki Mathieu. It's hard to believe but the tennis team is halfway through the season. We recap some of there matches and go into the details of the team and dynamics they have.
We are in full stride with sports this fall and it shows during Mini-Maroons and the Maroon Minute. In this episode with Mini-Maroons, we have opening week details this week regarding basketball and football. The 7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball team played against Carney and North Central as they opened the season. Menominee Youth football started with there first game against Bonduel and we have highlights regarding Week 3 of the M&M Hornets 7th/8th Grade Team. All high school fall sports are featured in the Maroon Minute this week with the Cross Country team participating in the Dale Philips Invite, while the Girls Tennis Team and Volleyball Team was also in action. A quick recap of the Maroon Football loss to Richmond-Burton is featured and we also look into the game schedule for all sports for the week 9/8-9/15.
Football season is inching into full stride as I am joined by Menominee Youth Football President Jeremy Sallgren. It's his second season as president as the organization moves into a positive direction for our future football stars. We go into the inner workings of how the football season moves with details on practices and games for our 4th through 6th graders.
In Mini-Maroons this week the 7th & 8th Grade Hornets played another Saturday game and youth football is just around the corner. The Maroon Minute is full with fall sports action as the Volleyball team has won back to back matches against Great Northern Conference opponents. We recap the 116th M&M Game with a breakdown of the game that includes some football highlights of the Maroon win!
The 116th M&M Game is upon us! This week I am joined by legendary Maroon Football Coach Ken Hofer as we talk about his past M&M Game experiences going back to 1966. We re-live some of the moments throughout the decades and even play some highlights from past contests. We have a good discussion along with more highlights regarding the 58-54 game that took place in 2001 and a get into a whole lot more!
In Mini-Maroons this week the 7&8th Grade Hornets earned a football victory over the Manitowoc Chiefs and we have details of that game. High School Sports are in full swing now as the Girls Volleyball and Tennis Teams took to the nets along with the Maroon Cross Country runners taking the course. We have updates from all those contests and look ahead to the week of 8/25 to 9/1 in the Maroon Minute.
A new era is born in Menominee as first year Maroon Head Football Coach Chand Brandt joins me to open up this years podcast series We talk about the upcoming season and what we can expect to see from the 2022 Maroons. It's a good conversation regarding the offseason progress, camps and practices as the Maroons prepare for the upcoming season. We get to learn a little about the new coach and his past football experiences associated with High School football from his early days in Schoolcraft to the successes he had coaching the Stephenson Eagles.
With the M&M Game a week away for football, fall sports kicks off in other sports like Tennis and Volleyball for the girls. I touch on the there upcoming schedules for 8/18-8/25 in the Maroon Minute. It's early in the season for the fan-favorite Mini-Maroons but we will have updates with the areas youngsters once there season get underway shortly in youth football and middle school basketball!
Maroon Boys Basketball coach Sam Larson is in studio as the boys wrapped up the regular season. We get into some exciting games from the season and talk about the historical moments the Maroons had. March Madness is officially here and we preview the boys postseason with a look into District 66.
We have results from the Marinette-Menominee YMCA Gymnastics Gliders regarding the Sheboygan event from the weekend of February 19th on Mini-Maroons. We will also look into the Menominee Youth Wrestlers as they were in Escanaba. The Maroon Minute gets into the results from the last two regular season boys basketball games and the district opener from the girls.

Maroon Girls Basketball coach Lucas Chouinard is in studio as we wrap up the regular season for the girls. We go over the ups and downs of the season and how they are moving into the right direction with the playoffs on the horizon. The playoff brackets are official and we dive into the teams with a playoff preview for Region 17.
Mini-Maroons has a full schedule as the Menominee Youth Wrestling athletes participated in the Oconto Falls tournament. We have Menominee Hoops Club results with the 5th Grade Girls taking first place at the State Tournament in the Wisconsin Dells. The Maroon Minute gets into the results from this past week for the boys and girls basketball teams and we look into the future games as the boys look to close out the regular season.

Menominee High School and Upper Peninsula Hall of Famer Al Ruleau is in studio as we talk about Maroon Basketball in the early 80's. Al is in in the rare class of the 1,000 point club scoring 1,153 points in his career and was a part of the historic 1981-82 basketball team that finished 24-1 after losing in the State Semi-Finals. We discus local influencers in sports that includes some past coaches. The game and venues have evolved over the years and we have a few stories on those topics. He remembers one of the biggest games ever held in Menominee as the Maroons hosted the Stephenson Eagles his senior year.
In Mini-Maroons we have the results from the Marinette-Menominee YMCA Gliders meet in Eau Claire from the previous weekend. We will take a look into the final weeks of the Maroon basketball season as the Boys and Girls are getting closer to the district tournament.

Menominee Youth Wrestling Coach Robert Forgette joins me as we are in the middle of the youth wrestling season. A lot of information is shared and we try to answer the basic questions you may have about the youth wrestling program.
Details on the Crivitz Youth Wrestling Event can be heard in Mini-Maroons and the 5th Grade Girls Basketball team qualified for the state tournament this past weekend. The Maroon Minute is full with the boys and girls basketball teams as they had a pretty successful week! We talk about Pink Out Night for the girls along with details on on the there Gladstone and Marquette games. For the boys, we have details and radio clips of the triple overtime game in Marquette and we get into the North Central win as well.

Menominee Youth Baseball Association President Scott Bell joins me as we are approaching the baseball and softball season. Registration is now open and we get into various details of the league. We discuss topics the topics associated with quickball, baseball, softball and tournament teams associated with travel. If you have any questions regarding the MYBA for your son or daughter, hopefully they are answered here!
The results are in from the M&M YMCA Gliders Gymnastic meet from last weekend. We feature the top finishers and take a look a some hoops club tournaments from this past weekend in Mini-Maroons. The Maroon Varsity Boys Basketball Team won some key Great Northern Conference games and we recap the GNC for both the boys and the girls. This week we go back into Menominee basketball history as we visit with Bill Schwantz. We look into how the game started and how it evolved over time. Stories are shared as we talk about past teams and players that came through Menominee over the past fifty years going back to that magical state championship year of 1967.
The majority of the Hoops Club basketball teams participated in tournaments this past weekend. We take a look and see how they did in Peshtigo and Pulaski during Mini-Maroons. In the Maroon Minute we recap the boys and girls basketball games for the past week and look into the upcoming schedule to February 2nd.

We go to the heart of the Menominee Hoops Club by talking with all of the coaches affiliated with the program. I have interviews with the boys and girls coaches from third grade up until eighth as we finish with the Hoops Club President Derek Butler who also coaches the eight grade boys.
Youth wrestling is under way and I have some details on the first meet from Peshtigo in Mini-Maroons. During the Maroon Minute we recap a few boys and girls basketball games. The boys hosted Oconto and the Girls opened up the Great Northern Conference hosing Escanaba. We recap the week of January 13th and take a look at the upcoming schedule to January 26th.

We look at 2021 as we go back to the start of last basketball season. It was a record breaking year for athletes in basketball, track and football and we will highlight some of those moments. The 2020/21 Boys Basketball Team played a few games that brought us some extra basketball and we had a 34 year girls basketball record fall. Multiple records in track were broken and we have a new leader for most offense yards gained in football game. The year 2021 was an exciting and we we relive some of our favorite moments with a few broadcast clips from boys & girls basketball and even some football games.
Menominee Hoops Club is in full swing as the third through sixth graders had games this weekend including a couple tournaments for the 4th and 5th grade girls. We have all the details in this weeks edition of Mini-Maroons. During the Maroon Minute we recap the M&M Gliders with scores from the Fond Du Lac invitational and take a look into basketball. The Maroon Girls had a couple Menominee Country rivalry games while the Boys traveled to Milwaukee. We recap those contests and take a look at the upcoming schedule from December 23rd into the new year.

Marinette-Menominee YMCA Glider Head Coach Brigette Schmidt stops into the studio to educate me on the local gymnastics scene. We review all of the events and levels that gymnastics has to offer as there season has begun. They prepare for the state tournament later in the season and are possibly eyeing some national competition in early 2022. It's an interesting gymnastics lesson and a whole lot more.
The blizzard wiped out most of the youth games but a few teams still got to compete including a tournament run for the Menominee Girls 4th Grade Basketball Travel Team. We will recap that tournament as we take a glance into Mini-Maroons. The Maroon Boys Basketball team beat the storm out of town for a long road trip down state to play Ogema Heights and Petoskey after an overnight stay. We recap those contests and take a look at the upcoming schedule from 12/16-12/23.

The Menominee Maroon Boys Basketball Varsity Head Coach Sam Larson is in the studio as we get into high school hoops. We talk about some past teams that he has coached as he enters his 5th year. We even go back to his playing days with some good conversations! We had a good talk about the Antigo game and we'll get into the upcoming schedule that includes some long road trips over the next few weeks.
The Hoops Club regular season games got back in action after the Thanksgiving holiday and we have updates from the boys and girls teams as they all went undefeated. For the Maroon Minute, both the boys and girls basketball teams started there seasons and we have the scores and stats associated with all of the games.

The Menominee Maroon Girls Basketball season is here and I am joined by Varsity Coach Lucas Chouinard as we get back into the Maroon Way. After back to back undefeated regular seasons, the girls have a target on there back and they jump right into a brutal schedule to open the 2021/22 campaign.

Menominee Maroon Football Coach Joe Noha joins me this week as we look back into the past football season. We take a look at the highs and lows of the roller coaster ride and recap the playoff loss to Calumet. We talk about moving the program forward and ways to eliminate distractions that come along with social media issues the youth of today face. It's an interesting conversation that is a lot more than just on football.
The Marinette-Menominee YMCA youth flag football league came to a close with there championships and the Menominee Hoops Club is getting into full swing. We dive into both of those leagues in Mini-Maroons!

Part Two of the conversation I had with Jimmer Anderla and Josh Tarbox of the 1998 Class BB State Championship Football team. I am joined by two members of the 1998 Class BB State Championship Football team this week as they were enshrined into the Menominee High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Jimmer Anderla and Josh Tarbox are in the studio as we go into the details regarding that successful season. This two part podcast has some length but it is entertaining! After a few bumps, the 2020 Menominee High School Hall of Fame Ceremony is finally here! I am joined by John Wills and Randy Demeuse as we look into the 2020 MHS HOF Class. We will let you know what each inductee has accomplished and how the process works. It is another impressive class that will be inducted and if you want to learn a little something or reminisce of some classic players, give this episode a listen. We give you details on how the HOF started, the process it takes to get inducted and run down all of the past inductees.

George Ihler is a 1960 graduate of Marinette High School and member of the 2014 Inaugural Marinette High School Hall of Fame.
Larry Ebsch is a 1949 graduate of Menominee High School and a member of the 2018 Inaugural Class of the Menominee High School Hall of Fame.
