Music By Anthony Burke
James Hewitt is a young(ish) man with an already distinguished career. In short:
Former professional continental cyclist and Cyclefit client
Joined Cyclefit 2013 as a bike-fitter and our Technologist
Left to become a Performance Scientist at the prestigious Hintsa - training Formula One drivers, Fortune 500 execs and writing a book with Dr. Aki Hintsa.
James left Hintsa to finish his PHD at Loughborough University and set up his own consulting firm.
James is now one of the most successful speakers in the world on the subject of human performance and potential.
In this podcast James is disarmingly frank and discusses all aspects of his cutting-edge world with two people who are least qualified to understand it - Phil and Jules.
Foot pain is the most commonly reported cycling issue at Cyclefit - hot-foot, pressure, toe-clawing, cramping, instability, lack of connection etc, to name a few.
We are foot specialists at Cyclefit and have run the only dedicated cycling podiatry clinic in the UK for over ten years, with Mick Habgood. The clinic is popular with professional and amateur cyclists.
In this podcast with Mick we range far and wide to increase your understanding of the cyclists foot.
Under The Mic Series No1 - Dr Nigel Stephens - Consultant Cardiologist and Elite Bicycle Racer
Our Cyclefit 'Under The Mic', a series of interviews/podcasts with doctors, medics, surgeons and clinicians, who have specialist knowledge with respect to how Midlife Cyclists ride and train. Our first podcast interview is with our great friend, Dr Nigel Stephens who has a clinic at ISEH, just around the corner from Cyclefit.
Dr Nigel Stephens has contributed to every Midlife Cyclist Lecture Series we have run and also the inaugural International Cyclefit Conference (2012).
Nigel is almost unique. He is the Venn Diagram intersection of Consultant Cardiologist, Elite bike-racer and Polymath Thinker. He is also a talented teacher and speaker. His lectures at Cyclefit always sell-out in hours.
Here we meet Nigel and talk about his history in creating providing sports cardiology services for athletes at the British Olympic Medical Institute in partnership with prof Greg Whyte.
Nigel ranges wide on the themes of midlife performance - both as a clinician and as a racer.
Mea Culpa - Our IT company managed to wipe the original sound files from our recording with Nigel. One would think this would be almost impossible these days?
Luckily I recorded a back up on my phone and this is what you will listen to. Thank you to our great friend Robin for cleaning up the recording.
Thank you Tony for the intro / outro music
Jules and Phil discuss:
