I'd like to say I have a very nice plan of how I want my life to look like but that would be a big lie, I mostly live life as it comes and hope I make the best decisions. God is at the center of my life so I basically don't stress about life in general because I believe He's got me. I'm not a big planner because He's the ultimate planner and will not let me make major fuckups.

Even in difficult times, I think He knows best and still directs my path, so I really can't do anything without letting God take charge. What can I do without Him? Nothing really, I'd be a lost sheep.

I was scrolling through TikTok one day when I came across a lady called Sunmisola singing. She had the most beautiful voice, it was one of those that sends chills down your spine and takes you to a realm of worship. She sang a simple call and response song, 'My Jesus my Jesus, your baby is singing, My daddy my daddy, your baby is singing'.

The song has been etched in my memory since then because of how well I resonate with it and the reactions it sparks in me. I was singing it today and it dawned on me that it sounded a bit like Mercy Chinwo's 'Baby Song', Jesus your baby is singing. The lyrics are similar and Mercy Chinwo's song was probably an inspiration for Sunmisola's song.

This is such a lovely theme - Nothing Is Impossible. I am a very optimistic person and I always believe good things will happen to me and favour me. Sometimes, it seems like this is not the case because I am a very anxious person that worries about the little things, but it doesn't take away the fact that I bask in positivity.

My daily affirmations include me saying nothing is impossible for God to do for me. I don't know how, but I say it and it comes through for me. I look at my life now and see I'm living the life I spoke into existence, it makes me even more aware and positive about what I say now. Nothing is impossible when God hears y'all.

This is why I chose to sing Capable God by Judikay. It feels like this song was made for me and I love the simple, yet powerful lyrics. It is the perfect match for our theme this week, I just couldn't pass on it.

I didn't know what 'Moonshine' meant until I came across the theme for the week. The first and most prominent definition was that it's some sort of bootleg alcohol made in the night time. I thought of songs relating to the moon and I wanted to sing 'Talking to the moon' by Bruno Mars. I changed my mind and chose 'Locked Out Of Heaven' also by him.

Illegal alcohol most definitely has it's special high that can take one to heaven, reason why I chose this song. It's a song expressing the too-good feeling that felt like heaven. You might as well get this feeling from taking bootleg alcohol 😏

On the first take of my video, my normal key was too low and I decided to do a second take. I have a sore throat so I was really reaching attempting to go higher to match the background instrumental. Halfway in I couldn't keep up and I crawled till the end 😁 I enjoyed recording this anyway.

There were a million and one songs I thought to perform for 'Emotion', it was hard settling for one. Then I watched @sleemfit's performance of Stay With Me by Sam Smith, I loved it so much and got reminded of how much I like this song. I played it on my phone and then I found Stay by Rihanna next to it.

My mind was made up instantly! I was going to sing Stay by Rihanna. This song meant a lot to me in those times when I first dabbled into relating with the opposite sex. There were a lot of mixed signals and uncertainties, it was hard finding clarity at such a young age and emotions were all over the place.

This song perfectly describes my situationships, as a fresh 18-year-old in the dating scene, my heart on my sleeve, gentle and afraid, but willing to explore my deep feelings.

Panda likes attention a whole lot, more than anything I've ever experienced and I find it cute every time. Today she kept trying to pull my hand while I was working and I had to oblige her because I needed a break.

I was reminded that I needed to go for a walk as a form of exercise both for me and for Panda. I've had a long break from exercising and my tight schedule hasn't been helpful in getting back on track. My husband has stressed that a few minutes a day of walking is better than not doing anything at all and I agree.

Consistency is key in exercising as you'd get better results when you work out for short periods of time consistently than going hard every few days inconsistently.

I knew I had to begin exercising again when I felt tired from walking around the market on Saturday. I move around the house a lot doing chores but apparently, that counts for nothing because of muscle memory.

Today is the very first day that marks my consistent daily walks with Panda and no excuses this time. This will be my break time routine so I can get my body moving and have a good stretch after sitting for hours.

Panda always enjoys walks and I know she would love to do this every single day. I'd love it too, it's a mood booster and just what I needed for today.

I chose the song Rude by Magic for this week's theme 'Prejudice' because it describes a biased situation. A man is trying to marry the love of his life but her father is so adamant because he just doesn't like the guy. He doesn't even know this guy but he immediately doesn't want her for his daughter and he's very stern and rude about it. Sounds familiar? Lol.

This is a real life situation that everyone must have seen or heard about, the song is kinda funny but it's also a sorry situation. Why do some parents judge their children's choice of a life partner mostly based on loose reasons? That's prejudice right there.

I'm lucky I can't relate to the song though. My dad's eyes lit up when he first saw my partner, he even dressed up in fancy clothes and drank whiskey with him. I'll never forget that day :)

I don't agree with the saying that Love Hurts, I think it's better phrased as 'People hurt' because love is just too pure and genuine to hurt. It's situations and the actions of people that hurt and not necessarily the love itself, love will always be love. It's synonymous with good and not bad.

It's the reason why I am able to move on from things and people that hurt me, because there's more love out there for me and above all, love is always in my heart. I might be hurt, but I always have the consciousness that I'd love again.

Friendship is a beautiful thing and sometimes I pause to think about my true friends of which I can't even count complete on one hand. I don't have a lot of friends but I know the few I have have my best interest at heart as I do theirs. It's an awesome feeling I tell you.

It's interesting how this song, Cocaine (Your Body) by Dai Verse slowly became one I really like. I love the melody because it's the style of music I like listening to. The lyrics are schmegular regular and it would have been nicer if they were more meaningful but his tone was everything so I don't mind.

I was trying to keep up with the instrumental which is harder than singing without it so I was skipping like a broken record a few times. I'm bad at music lingo but I think I also tried singing with my head voice and sounded a bit higher than my normal range. How did that turn out? Too pitchy or nah?

I Know Who I Am by gospel artiste Sinach is an old song but it never gets old. It was such a hit that it trended in different countries for a while. You couldn't go to church and not hear it, it's still a jam in churches today. It was so good that even non-Christians and people that aren't religious liked it.

It was and still is that song used in gospel parades. Parades equals trumpet sounds, you just need one and it gets the whole parade going. I love hearing this song played on a trumpet and I always move my body and sing along when I hear someone play it. That's why I chose it for this theme, it reminds me a lot of parades.

I'm not current with Ric Hassani's songs as I haven't been listening to his latest tracks, but one of his old songs I'll never get tired of is Police. I love this song a lot probably because it's the first one I ever heard from The African Gentleman album.

It sounds unique and the entire album is filled with gentleman songs. I like how it's RnB-like but still afrobeat. That's the beauty of African songs.

This week I'm doing a cover of Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. It's a lovable song and I think it fits into the theme for the week.

'More than words' is a phrase that means actions should speak louder than words. While everyone loves reassuring words, I think doing the actual work is more important. Nobody likes unfulfilled promises or hearing sweet nothings every time. If you care for someone, you would do things that show them that.

This is why I like this song, I'm Gonna Be which is originally by The Proclaimers. It is an awesome song from the 80s that has been covered by many artists both big and upcoming. I'm singing a cover by an artist called Daniel Duke which I first heard from a Nigerian artist called Chike.

This song is very direct, especially the part where it says when the money comes he'll pass every penny to the one he loves. Now that's action 😄 Don't mind me, I really like this song though.

The theme 'Infantil' refers to childlike and I immediately think babies and all the joy they bring. I remember when I first saw my niece hours after her birth, she looked so peaceful and the atmosphere was filled with peace.

Her presence made the world feel like a sane place for once and I appreciated and saw the beauty in everything. For a while after that day, I was extra joyful, walking head up high with a huge smile on my face. My world was so beautiful and the world at large was wonderful.

If I was told to sing a song off the top of my head, Nobody But You (N.B.U) by Fave is one of the top 5 on my list. The first time I heard it, it was a freestyle Fave had done and posted on twitter. It was so good and it trended for days. I think that was what brought her to the limelight before everyone knew her for her 'Baby Riddim' song.

I had no idea that she made a complete song out of the freestyle until a few months ago. It's been stuck in my head since then. I heard another version of the same song by her with slightly different lyrics and I think I like it even more. This is the second version I'm singing here acapella style.

I discarded the first take of this video because I sang the 'thank you' at the end of the song. It was funny so I did another take but I ended up doing the same thing. It's not like it's a terrible thing so I don't know why I was bothered.

For the theme Local Tradition, I'm singing a song by a Nigerian artiste, Chike, called 'Roju'. Roju is a combo of Romeo + Juliet, and it's a love song played especially at wedding ceremonies in Nigeria.

We have a lot of peculiar tribes in Nigeria, all traditions so different yet so similar. One way we're similar is how we conduct our traditional weddings. There are slight differences but it's mostly the same process.

This song Roju is about a groom raining praises on his beautiful bride as she is 'married off' to him. She dances and rolls her waist in the usual way a bride does to get the appraisal of her husband while he continues praising her and being thankful that he finally found the one.

It is done both in Ibo language and in English. I'm not Ibo and I can't speak the language so this was a bit of a tongue twister for me. I did my best though and I enjoyed singing it. It reminds me of my own traditional wedding. Coincidentally, this day happens to be the anniversary of my traditional wedding.

Afrobeats has got to be one of the best mood boosters there is when it comes to music. Let me be honest, I felt like shit before making this video today. I was so weak and had to take a nap in order to feel better. It was really hot because there was no power and I was irritated when I woke up from my nap.

I tried completing my online pre-registration for my voter's card but the site didn't work and today is the last day. It was all so frustrating I tell you. I washed my face, changed from my sweat-soaked shirt to a fresh one, then set up my space to record this video.

This wonderful song by @ebingo was a tear-jerker the first time I heard him perform it on open mic. It is relatable to us Nigerians and the situation surrounding the birth of the song is what we try to run away from everyday.

I live in Kaduna, the city where the train bombing occurred. It was horrific to find out that people had died on the same train I regularly used. The attacks became even more real to me and the government's response to the situation shows that we're done for.

We're at the point where we've given up on trying to make Nigeria great again and the only way to help ourselves out is by moving on. It's sad but we've lost hope.

This song is a tribute to Dr. Chinelo, I didn't know her but I dreamt of her nights after the sad event. It was reported that she was supposed to travel out of the country the next week, for greener pastures I suppose. She wanted to move on from this small town, but it all came falling down right at the tail end.

Hello to the Afri-tunes Community. It's a pleasure being able to participate this week and listen to all the wonderful performances. I love Afrobeats and one that easily comes to mind is Mama by Kizz Daniel. This song is so melodious to my ears and six years on, it's still one of my favourites.

This week, for the amazing theme, Abrazo Musical (musical embrace), I thought to share a song that bodies the feeling I get when I'm wrapped in the arms of music. It's Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles and to me, this song tells the sweet feeling of being in cloud nine when I taste music.

Hello Hive Open Mic, it's so much fun to be here again. This week, for the theme 'Paper Kites', all I can think of is my childhood and how much I loved running around with paper kites in the streets. I always imagined being able to fly high like the kites and float to wherever.

I lived in so many fantasies as a kid and the song Lost Boy by Ruth B. brings to life one of my fantasies. I love this song because it reminds me of my childhood and I love the Peter Pan storyline. The song talks about a dreamland, loyalty, and friendships.

It was a bit too fast-paced for me to sing so I had to use the backing instrumental but I ended up overpowering the sound because of my mic. I was undecided whether to post this one or the one without a sound but I settled for this. I hope it's nice still.

Some words are better left unsaid, others, not so much. Personally, I'm all for knowing when to keep mute and moving on and I shy away from confrontations that involve me off-loading my feelings. It can be draining when the other party takes the situation so lightly when it means a lot to you. I'm a highly emotional being and when I begin off-loading, it might come out as too strong, so I rather un-look and save myself the energy with most people.

Jealous by Labrinth is a wonderful heartbreak story, and I kind of relate to it. I love how he wishes the other person well despite the heartbreak and him hoping they come back. There are words he'd rather have undisclosed and he deals with all the pain alone.

It's a big feat to be brave as this doesn't come naturally to everyone. Sometimes, those who seem timid have a whole lot of bravery in them that they themselves are oblivious of or yet to unlock. It just takes them realising that they are bigger than what they think or have been told in order to shine bright.

This Is Me kept ringing in mind when I saw the theme of the week. Those words came naturally to me many years ago because I was in total acceptance of my persona. Even when people tried to make me feel less, I was brave to know that I am not what they say or think. It takes a brave mind to love yourself as you are as well as love others.

ESP Es una gran hazaña ser valiente, ya que esto no es algo natural para todos. Bicycle is a very interesting theme because it could mean several things. One of its many meanings that I like is 'progression'. It symbolizes good times to come and hope. I am an optimistic person and so I always hope for the best and believe better days are coming.

The song that immediately comes to me for this theme is Rich and Famous by Nigerian music star, Praiz. This song is a hopeful one of a young man who dreams to make it big and become a superstar some day.

When I think Colourful, I think love, reason why I'm singing a love song today. Love brings colour to one's life and it makes you wonder if you've been living in 'black and white' before experiencing it.

Baby Riddim is one of my favourite songs by a Nigerian artiste called FAVE. I love how gentle and unique she sounds and this song is one that never ceases from my lips.

The song speaks of the type of love you never want to let go, no matter the circumstances. It's that colourful love that you know is rare and leaves you weak in the knees.

I woke up with a fever thinking I wouldn't be able to do open mic like I planned today but I gingered myself enough to stand in front of the camera and it felt good. I lost breath control though but I tried to cover it. Anyway, enjoy and have a colourful weekend.

Hello music lovers, greetings! This week, I was a bit thrown off by the theme "Guitarra Automática" and I felt sad that I only took one guitar lesson since we got a guitar in the house. But not to worry, I immediately knew what I was going to sing even if I don't know how to play the guitar.

Edelweiss ('Wool flower') pronounced 'ay-dul-vise' is one of the Sound of Music songs. It was composed and sung by Richard Rodgers for the movie, although it looked like it was the character 'Captain Von Trapp' singing it in the scene where he played for the Baroness and his kids.

source This song was performed with the captain playing the guitar and it was what made me resolve that if I ever was going to play an instrument, it definitely had to be the guitar. I love this song so much and I hope my attempt at it is good enough to make you love it too.

The theme 'Survival' seems befitting for my situation right now as I'm praying to God to survive. This week alone, we've escaped a train bombing and now we woke up to the news today that a community very closeby has been attacked by these same terrorists.

We're currently trapped where we live and the terrorist attacks have come way too close to us. I am so scared and can't wait to leave here as soon as possible.

I found myself singing this song, 'The Hill' by Travis Greene in my head since last week and also been praying more than usual at night. It's as if my spirit has been aware of the incoming danger all this time.

We don't feel safe here and we have no protection except The Hill. I believe God will see us through our relocation down to the south in the coming days and that's the reason I'm singing and smiling.

I'm positive God's got us even when everything else fails and that's why I'm sharing this song with you today.

Hello HiveOpen Mic, I'm gracing the stage this week with my new favourite song, Stand Up by Cynthia Erivo. When I saw the theme of the week, I thought this song to be just the perfect fit.

I heard this song in a movie biopic about American abolitionist, Harriet Tubman. She is known for spying, scouting and freeing enslaved people. Born a slave in Maryland, she was able to escape to the free town of Philadephia in the year 1849 and she made it her life's mission thereafter to steal and free slaves from Maryland.

Begging is nothing unusual in Nigeria and you most definitely have run into beggars at some point if you live here. I grew up in a city where it is very normal to walk past at least three beggars on your way to school or work. If it isn't a roadside beggar, it is a mad man. You'd be lucky if it isn't an aggressive mad man or one who wants to touch you.

Then there are the corporate beggars, they're literally on their 9-5 and probably make more money than you do. They always have one believable story or the other to sell to you just to get your coins. There are also the motor park beggars in the form of pastors. They begin with a sermon just before the taxi or bus loads and they round off begging for alms.

This video is a brief story of my experiences with beggars in the cities I've lived in and what I think about them. It is in no way shading them for their situation and I hope you can help out whenever you're led to.

As for the deceitful ones, I hope you can shine your eye and not let anyone gbogbo you.

I have to remind myself every time that it hasn't been up to two months since I became a dog mum. These last weeks have been awesome and I like that I'm getting to know Panda more daily. Seeing her grow right before me is amazing. There are things she does that are interesting and I wouldn't have known if I didn't have a dog.

Sniff before pooping The first time I noticed this I found it funny that she had to sniff around for a comfortable spot to pee or poop. Then I learnt that dogs do this to mark territory or to maintain a particular pooping spot they find safe. It all makes sense because when they crouch to do their business, they are in a vulnerable position and they wouldn't want to be caught off-guard.

Pee randomly Panda's doing well with her potty training so far. She knows first thing in the morning is to go out to pee and she patiently waits as I open the door unlike before when she'd pee before we get to the front door. During the day she pees outside every few hours and sometimes pees inside the house. When she does this, she feels guilty and runs away.

I used to be annoyed that she'd randomly pee inside sometimes even after just peeing outside. Then I noticed that she pees when she's really happy or afraid and it is natural with dogs.

Digging the floor The way she tries to dig the floor is so interesting to watch. She also digs and scratches the couch a lot as if looking for something. She usually likes these spots and will end up relaxing there. I have seen her several times digging into my potted plants and lying on the soil when she's done.

Any chance she gets, she comes to my room and drags one end of the duvet from the edge of the bed and relaxes on it. She sniffs all over it, digs it, and decides, 'yes, that's my spot'. I read it is a natural instinct for dogs to scratch and dig in order to find a comfortable spot to sleep. It is also a territorial behaviour gotten from their wolf ancestors.

Licking her paws I'm not too sure what this means but I figure she's grooming herself. It isn't excessive so I'm not bothered.

Vigorously shaking her toy I thought Panda just really loves seeing her toy light up, reason why she likes shaking it with her mouth. But I got to know it is a natural instinct also. Wolves capture have their prey in their mouth and shake from side to side until it dies.

Display of emotions Some days, Panda is very needy. She's a Lhasa by the way and she can get teary if she's really hyper and no one wants to play with her. She'd cry until someone gives her attention or pets her. It's really cute and it's hard for me in particular to resist her puppy eyes.

Nothing prepared me for the show of feelings I get from her. Happy, sad, bored...I get it all. She has all expressions on lock and it can be confusing knowing what exactly she wants. Is she hungry, wants to be petted, or just wants to play? It's fun finding out.

Hello everyone, a happy new year to you. I'm clearing out my drafts and phone gallery so I made a video of several clips I have from last month. This one is from my trip to Abuja, a day spent outdoors enjoying the scenery, feeling the wind and playing around.

Not only do I love the landscape of Abuja, I also really appreciate how much greenery there is. I spent half of my day at Jabi Lake Park on this day, playing snooker and running around the open park.

There are also snippets of the beautiful view of the hills and mountains on the way to town. I look forward to going on a hike on my next visit.

Our much anticipated Abuja trip happened today and it was quite a journey. A two hour train ride felt like four hours because we were super hungry and tired. I couldn't record as much as I wanted because of tiredness but this video pretty much sums the movement from Kaduna to Abuja.

We're all settled in now and looking forward to the weekend here.

My weekend was super fun because I got to explore a new spot in my city. It's a big space with a fast food restaurant, cinema, indoor and outdoor lounge, and an indoor park. I had earlier tried out their restaurant and the food was of good quality, I gave them a 5 star rating on their questionnaire even.

I went there again this weekend and wanted to check out the park even though it looked like it was for kids only from the outside. The place looked really good with several arcade games and rides for kids. I chose to have a VR gaming experience together with @belemo and it was fun killing zombies. You can hear me scream in the video but I promise I wasn't scared, just very excited.

I never understand why people fear what is obviously not real and chicken out of the whole experience. I had a good laugh watching others freak out. This is my second time trying the VR gaming experience and I can only imagine how cool hive fest must have been if I had a VR headset.

The go-kart ride was also fun. I kept hitting the faux brake thinking I'd actually stop until the staff said it doesn't work. I would like to do this in an open space because that would be way much fun.

I liked the park, too bad I'm not going back there because @belemo ran into someone he had been dodging. It turns out the person works there so it's cancelled. Now I have to look for somewhere else to satisfy my inner child once again.

This is one purchase I really like - a French curve set for tailoring. I was browsing the jumia Nigeria black Friday deals and came across this French curve set on sale for $14.12. After adding the delivery, it came to a total of $15.95. It seemed like a good deal so I ordered it and got it yesterday.

It came in one piece and everything is just as described. I had been looking forward to owning one of these for a while and I'm super psyched I got them. Now my pattern making will be even better as I previously struggled with getting my curves right.

I can use these for armhole curves, sleeve caps, hip curves, necklines, trousers crotch blending, darts, and blending of curved lines generally.

Everything in the package seems to be very durable and will get the job done.

There are a couple of places I'm excited to see around the world and Nigeria is not an exception. Even when I look forward to relocating, I still want to explore all of my favourite places in Nigeria. There's a lot of history attached to cities here and so much beauty to behold. I haven't explored a lot but there are a few favourite places on my list.

In the video, I talk about my top favourite places in Nigeria and why I love them and want to visit them. From the parks and waterfalls in Abuja, down to the Ikogosi warm spring in Ekiti, the beauty of nature is what draws me to these places.

Hello Hive Garden, how are you and your plants doing? Today I'm sharing a video of me getting rid of two dead plants. I literally had to stop watering dead plants and move on. One of them is Maddy, my Madagascar periwinkle plant I got about two months ago. I talked about her in this post, A Rough Start As A Plant Mum.

The other is one of the newest addition to my collection, the Elephant Bush. This didn't last more than a week with me.

I would appreciate suggestions on how to care for them because I would be getting a replacement for them soon.

Hello Hive Garden, I'm a first time poster and it's good to be here. I only just found out about this community while looking for a suitable community to post about my plants. I started my plant journey two months ago and I have a total of six plants and counting. One of my pots broke recently so I had to repot the snake plant it once housed. I chose a plastic pot this time because I was worried getting another clay pot similar to the previous one was going to be a repetition of the pot breaking. There are other types of clay pots that don't break easily but not in the size I wanted.

After repotting, I watered the other plants and cleaned off insects sticking on the plants. I also changed the placement of my plants at the front door and I like how it's looking now.

In my last video I said I was going to aim for 45 minutes on my next workout and I successfully did that. I always thought yoga was a lesser category of exercise, boyyyy was I wrong. Every routine I've done felt more intense than it looked and brings about a serotonin surge in the end. I love it! Here's a shortened video of the whole workout.

Never in a million years would I have thought I'd want to be a yogi, but never say never ay? Yoga comes highly recommended for me so I had to incorporate it in my exercises. This is actually my second time doing yoga, the first time was last week but I didn't follow through with the breathing exercises throughout. I think I did a better job this time because the sweat and calmness I felt afterward is a testimony. The entire routine lasted for about 21 minutes and I was too tired to begin another although I had planned to workout for an hour. Easy does it so I'll be challenging myself to go 45 minutes on my next yoga routine.

In the last month, I've lacked the motivation to go to the gym. Anyone who frequents the gym knows that the hardest part is leaving your house for the gym but I always enjoy my time working out and I feel refreshed after every workout. At a point, I decided to workout at home on days when I can't make it to the gym but I slacked on that too. It took my doctor looking me in the eyes and pointing out I needed to workout regularly in order to avoid complications from a health condition I suffer from to get me back in workout mode. I also realized I didn't need an intense workout as we do at the gym and a home workout or long walks was just fine.

My partner and I set up our living room area and followed workout tutorials we found online. We did 5 sets of each ab exercise and 2 sets for aerobics. It wasn't as intense as the gym but it got us sweating and that's our aim. I still will go to the gym when I can but then I'll have to caution myself when I'm there.

Hello hive, in this video I'm unboxing a cellphone tripod stand I bought online. Making videos for hive has been so tedious because I have to set up my phone camera with boxes to get a good angle for filming. It was long overdue to get a phone tripod stand so I did just that.
