She also gets real about the decade-long journey that led here. The clients she had to turn away, the idea she shelved for seven years, and why she finally decided the time was now.

Sometimes being a CEO Mom can be very isolating. It can feel like no one really understands all of the things you face with your family and business every day. Talking with Megan Gillespie was a great reminder of how important it is to build the right community. Being a mom and business owner can also teach us how saying no to the wrong things can open you up to saying yes to better, more fulfilling choices. Both roles involve the word “no” a lot, it just depends what the “no” means. This is an episode you won’t want to miss!

This is your New Year pep talk. And honestly, if you’re reading this after the New Year, it’ll still be valuable.
I had something else planned for this episode, but this conversation came up in my mastermind group of business owners. 4 out of the 5 of us have little kids, and I shared a realization I had with the group: what you are able to accomplish looks EXTREMELY different depending on whether or not you have kids.
Listen for my BEST working mom pep talk, whether you're a business owner or in corporate, and how to avoid the comparison trap.

So many of us as moms feel the stress at dinner time.
The hours between 4:30 and 7:30 PM feel so chaotic for us: the kids are starting to have meltdowns, Chance is just rolling in from work at 6 PM, and I’m trying to feed all the kids dinner (sometimes at different times if they have after school activities). Plus, I REALLY hate having to cook, serve, and clean up at the end of a long, busy day.
It’s uber stressful. If there’s one thing I think we could all use in the new year, it’s less stress in those evening hours!
I came up with a solution that has been working for us since Vivi was born in June, and I call it my monthly meal plan system. Listen to learn how it's worked for us!

My inner nerd is going to really come out today, ya’ll 🤓
I’m so stoked to share this with you. There’s an overarching feeling out there that “debt” and loan” are dirty words – that debt is a bad thing, and being in any sort of debt is terrible.
I’m here to tell you that debt is not necessarily a bad thing. And actually, I don’t believe in being debt-free. There’s such a thing as healthy debt (as well as bad debt), and there’s a way you should be thinking about debt to make it work for you.To see the full blog post (show notes) head to: https://messywonderful.com/why-i-dont-believe-in-being-debt-free/

I feel like everyone always shouts from the rooftops what they’re doing really well.
But it’s easy to forget they made mistakes and learned lessons along the way. That’s a normal part of life and growth… but those things just don’t get shared as much as the successes.
I don’t know if people see sharing mistakes as shameful or if we think people will judge us for it, but honestly, sharing my mistakes means YOU can learn so you won’t make the same mistakes!
That being said, I wanted to share with you 3 big business decisions I made early on that I would go back and change if I could. Take my lessons learned so you can do differently in your business!

Have you ever wondered how you can make sure your small children are grateful for what they have? Do you want them to know that they can do ANYTHING in this life, and that their lives will be great? Of course you do — you’re a parent!
But… how do we teach our kids about abundance and gratitude? And how do we do it in a way that doesn’t make them feel like they’re being forced to show gratitude for the things we give them as parents?
I won’t lie, it’s a fine line! But crafting an abundance mindset in my kids, as well as instilling them with gratitude, has always been my top priority as a mom. I think Chance and I have done a relatively good job of this, and in this episode of the Messy Wonderful podcast, I’m breaking down what we do and how we do it!

We’ve all seen those moms who seem to have it all under control. We might find ourselves wondering how in the world she does it all.
I’ve definitely wondered! When I first started my business and was trying to wrangle multiple kids (now FOUR!), I used to watch other moms almost float through business and life and wonder how they got it all done without overloading themselves.
I think it’s safe to say that after 5+ years of trial and error, I’ve figured out a key to balancing the insanity a majority of the time. It’s not perfect (because perfection doesn’t exist!) but I can definitely say that I’ve shifted from just surviving to truly thriving!

Are you a working mom who feels like you’re barely keeping your head above water? Does it feel like you’re constantly struggling, running from place to place, and desperately in need of a vacation that you never have time to take?
I get it – you’re definitely not alone. I’ve been there myself, but I found that breaking my life and work into four key areas (and creating a guide to outline everything that needed to be done in those four areas) helped me manage work, home, life, and kids.

Work-life separation is a myth. And if we’re being honest, so is work-life balance. When we live in a world where work follows us everywhere we go thanks to the phones that live in our purses and pockets, it’s simply not possible to separate or balance work and life perfectly, all the time.
That’s why I take a completely different approach and practice what I call work-life integration. Instead of pushing against work or life, learn how I keep them integrated to bring more peace and calm to my daily life — and how you can, too!

There’s so much adjusting to do, especially if you have little ones. Today we’re talking about how we’re preparing our kids for the new baby; but mainly how we’re helping Hunter get ready. Not only do big life changes that mess with his routine really cause him to struggle, but he’s at the age where he understands so much of what’s going on - yet not fully.
We’ve been taking the process slowly for the last few months and we’ll continue to really involve him once the baby is here. We hope you find all of our tips for bringing home a new baby super helpful. It’s such a wonderful time!

**Sweet summertime!
We all love it, but for our little ones, it can be a tough time with schedules changes and less routines. This is especially difficult for children with autism who thrive even more so off of a routine.**
While the start to our summer hasn’t been without some tantrums and meltdowns, we’re off to a great start & I want to share what’s really been working for us.
I hope you’re able to run with these exact ideas or they inspire you to find some ways that help your child transition to summer.
Make sure you check out our Autism Book Guide for the Entire Family with some really great (and easy to understand) reading material for all ages & members of the family. We wish we would have known about these years ago!

Totally doable - There are actually TONS of other fun and exciting things for kids, families & adults to do in the Orlando area. We’re sharing all day activities, quick activities, indoor activities & outdoor activities - all the things :)

Reading at age 3? Yep - you’re reading that right!
I never would have thought that an app would be how our child learned how to read, but it was so much more effective than me teaching him. I’m also not really big into technology, but I’m so glad I made an exception for this (and I still do).
I know we’re all stressing about summer schedules and keeping our kiddos entertained - why not kill two birds with one stone? Keep your kids entertained WHILE they learn how to read. Find out HOW in today’s episode!

Validation. We shouldn’t need it, but we do. And I'm not even talking about professional validation.
I remember being the only one thinking something was amiss with Hunter. And it made me feel even worse as a parent because no one else seemed to be worried.
I vividly remember the moment where I felt validated in my feelings & it was just the push I needed to stop hedging back and forth and keep going on my journey to answers for Hunter. I’m sharing that story with you today & telling you that I am here to validate your feelings if no one else will!

In today’s episode we’re talking about some of the things that I noticed that really led me to seek out professional help for Hunter. I’ve had so many friends & strangers reach out to me asking questions about ‘how I knew?’ or ‘what was he doing/not doing?’
This can be hard to explain in one simple way because every child is different. Hunter is also our oldest child, so I had nothing to compare my concerns to. So I’m diving into all of the things I noticed, what concerned me, how I felt throughout this time and when I ultimately decided we needed help & answers.

We are SO excited to start this podcast and share more of our life with all of you!
It has become so important to us to empower more parents to travel with their kids - whether they traveled before kids or not. We learned through many of our own friends asking questions that they didn’t know they could still travel with kids or how to make it happen.
We are also sharing tons of information about our toddler's diagnosis with autism because so many parents have asked us questions - whether it's to understand better or because they are going through something similar with their child.
**We decided to create a podcast because we know many of the parents following us are busy and don't always have time to read long blog posts. Now you can catch all of our content on the go (but don't worry, it'll still be on the blog too) because let’s be honest, that’s our reality most days.
