You ever find out one of your so called friends did something that caused a domino effect of really crappy things?
Welcome to the c&A Podcast Tea Party where Aubrie spills tea about this exact thing happening.
It's the first time we were able to get together this year to record. We catch y'all up on our lives, the short version and we talk about the new Barbie nomination's and lack thereof. We also bring up what it was like for Aubrie to run into church peeps, they are everywhere, and it makes for a good story.
Have you ever wanted to know more about the Jewish culture and what is Judaism? Aubrie and Kathleen sit down with Rabbi Jasper and have a very relaxed conversation about the similarities and differences of Christianity and Judaism. We get to touch on what Judaism says about LGBTQ+ and how they combat antisemitism.
This is a great episode that we enjoyed getting to create for our listeners. We can't thank Rabbi Jasper and Temple Israel in Tulsa, Oklahoma enough for allowing us to record this episode and opening their doors for us to experience Sabath with them.
This recording was recorded before the bombings of Israel that happened in late 2023.
We did just change our name and the hype was big but so is this! Lot's of changes coming
We missed you guys!!! Welcome to 2024's first episode where we reflect a little bit on 2023, throw out a teaser of things to come, and we talk about our word for the year for the podcast and for ourselves.

This episode is jam packed with so many things we couldn't put it all in the title. Kathleen's wild experience at a pizza place where everyone was high as a kite is one we laughed way too hard at. Aubrie has an interesting interaction at a Jehovah Witness funeral with some of the church goers as well as having a run in with some past church friends at a kid's birthday party. She also took her first non-evangelical communion. We also talk about the tough decision Aubrie and her husband had to make when they walked away from sponsoring kids in a Christian mission project. We end the episode with a blooper of Kathleen's rant on Tom Cruise. Never ever mention his name around her.
Our guest, Professor Kristina Lee, leads an open dialog on the marginalization of atheists in the US, along with discussing the term "theistnormativity" that she coined, and its significance. Aubrie, who leans more spiritually/Christian found the conversation intriguing and Kathleen, as the atheist, had amazing questions. Please note, Dr. Lee is expressing her own professional opinion, not those of USD or the South Dakota Board of RegentsWant some awesome TC&TA merch? This is more chatter with Kathleen and Aubrie. Kathleen is going on a trip to Arizona soon which is where she was when she and her husband decided to stop going to church. She talks about the significance of that place and the excitement of going back for a visit. Aubrie recently traveled via the airport and found herself in a pickle after missing her flight. There was public crying and second guessing her outfit.
We also brought up now that we are no longer in our 20's and broke we are finally at a place where financially things aren't freaking rough. We laugh at the things we bought that made us feel like we had officially become adults.
We look forward to hearing your thoughts on this weeks episode. We hope everyone had an awesome turkey day.

We also delve into the surprising turn of events in Kat Von D's life, as she embraces being a born-again Christian, we didn't see that coming. And don't miss out on the hilarious tale of Aubrie's almost-crotch tattoo—it's a story you won't forget. Plus a few other things.
Thank you for listening, love yall!
Get ready for a pulse-pounding podcast adventure as we explore the mysteries of All Souls church, accompanied by our very own skeptic, Kathleen. With our guest Shannon Boston at our side, we dive deep into the haunting history of the indigenous land guarded by Chief Tuckabache, who passed away in the 1910s. Kathleen's skepticism provides a counterpoint to the spine-tingling narrative as we venture into the unknown. Armed with an ouija board and dowsing rods, we attempt to summon the spirit of Chief Tuckabache or any other spectral presence willing to communicate. Tune in to witness the supernatural unfold and see if Kathleen's skepticism will survive this eerie encounter.
An update on the latest since Aubrie left Life.Church. Looks like things are going good. We hope you enjoy

But the laughs don't stop there - find out how meditation gets a twist when Kathleen's humor takes center stage of Aubrie's brain (bad timing), and discover which one of us might be experiencing Ouija Board cold feet. Tune in for an episode filled with humor, curiosity, and lively conversation!

If you are anything like Aubrie, she likes to know what she's getting herself into when walking into a new place. We had the idea to show you, our audience, what it looks like when you walk into All Souls Church. This is the main part of the church that you would see and experience if/when you attend on a Sunday. The church as a whole is WAY bigger. Thanks again to All Souls for allowing us to learn more about Unitarian Universalism and showing us their church.
We get the great honor to sit with Reverend Marlin Lavanhar of All Souls Unitarian Universalist (UU) Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This was a real treat because Aubrie and her family just became members this summer shortly after we recorded this episode. We can't wait for you to hear about what a UU is and find a new perspective on how to explore God the UU way.

Who doesn't love the idea of taking over the world if it wasn't frowned upon? We have a fun episode of discussion about how being tested by God and being tempted by Satan are two different things...or are they? Kathleen used to suffer from vivid nightmares and we talk about if we think it's from the fear organized religion brought on or something else. IDK if all our listeners are like Aubrie where every time we come together to learn something new we have a moment of "wtf" or what but this one is less intense but for sure a "wtf" moment. Ever wonder what goes on at the temple? There is a thing called an Endowment Ceremony that Kathleen walks us through the different concepts of what that means. Before we dive into that fun we hear from Aubrie about the women's conference she attended and how that went. Kathleen had some feelings about how that works and we ended up putting a whole 10 minutes of that at the end of the episode for those of you that want to hear it. It's a literal riot, we talk about Stacy Eldridge's Captivating Core retreat, being romanced by God, and going on a date with God. The whole time Kathleen is expressing her feelings about it, and we found ourselves laughing way too hard. Enjoy

Seth freaking Andrews! We get the honor talk with Seth about the title of his latest book, Christianity Made Me Talk Like an Idiot, as well as how hesitant Aubrie was to have him on the show. Ok, you know when you hear about something and the person who is telling it is trustworthy and wouldn't lie about what they are talking about but the thing they are talking about is so wacky you have to pull in another source who knows just as much about it to confirm the insanity you just heard? That is what this episode is!
Kathleen's husband sits in the room with us to help give insight to the topic of Mormon tithing and the breaking headline. You don't get to hear his voice but he's like an advisor throughout the episode. Welcome to the second episode in our Book Club series! A few months ago, we sat down with Marla Taviano, the author of a wonderful book of poetry called Unbelieve. We learn about her upbringing as an evangelical Christian, her deconversion process, and what she believes now, all through the lense of a series of incredibly touching and sometimes hilarious poems. Marla Taviano is into books, love, justice, globes, anti-racism, blue, gray, rainbows, and poems. She reads and writes for a living, wears her heart on her t-shirts, and is on a mission/quest/journey to live wholefarted (not a typo). She's the author of unbelieve: poems on the journey to becoming a heretic and jaded: a poetic reckoning with white evangelical christian indoctrination, and lives in South Carolina with her four freaking awesome kids. This episode, as Kathleen points out, is a little unhinged. We start with how fun it was to find out Rihanna is pregnant via the halftime show. Then, Aubrie brings up a topic that is giving her anxiety and she wonders if Kathleen ever finds herself feeling similar or if she deals with things differently. Finally, we go into the rabbit hole of how Mormons view afterlife. It's full of information and opinions from an ex-Mormon so if you find yourself particularly sensitive to hearing potentially negative things pointed towards the Mormon belief system then we advise you to skip the topic. We will be going into Book Club: Unbelieve by Marla Taviono so if you want to read the book of poems in preparation of next week's episode you can find it on Amazon or you can get a signed copy from Marla herself, just look her up on Facebook and shoot her a message.

Welcome to Book Club! Our first guest is Dr. Jennifer Bird, biblical scholar and author of Permission Granted. We sat down with Dr. Bird to discuss her views on the Bible, her career, and her beautifully written book! It’s definitely worth reading, but don’t take our word for it! About the Author:Jennifer Bird grew up in the United Methodist Church and was doing full time ministry after college, when people around her started showing her that sometimes the Bible doesn’t say what she had always thought that it did. So, she went to seminary in order to learn biblical languages for herself. This led to other unexpected discoveries along the way, all of which fueled her desire to share with others the things she was learning. Before we dive into our Mormon topic of the day we dive into the craziness of Britany Spears and Madonna. Is there talk of aliens being involved? Yes, because what other reason would there be??? We get to a topic we are sure you as our listeners can agree on and that's how annoying impostor syndrome is and how we think we can help prevent it with our own kids.
The Mormon topic is about the "day in the life" of a Mormon on Sunday and what they would encounter. Kathleen tells us about Primary, the Relief Society, the Priesthood, and how the classes work. Oh, and we can't forget about sacrament.
Enjoy the fun.

We are doing a little throw back with this episode to give our listeners a taste of what could have been. When we first started, we were thinking of doing a segment called "Rapid Fire Friday" where we just throw out questions and answer them. This had to be May 2021 and we were working on getting comfortable behind the mic. We hope you enjoy this never before heard segment of R.F.F. where we discuss hall passes, strippers, and bucket list topics. We will see you next we with a new Morning Show.
February starts off book club for us. We read the 2 books and interviewed 3 authors that we know you will all enjoy. Go read Permission Granted by Dr. Jennifer Bird, Unbelieve by Marla Taviano, and Christianity Made Me Talk Like an Idiot by Seth Andrews to get a taste of what we will be bringing.

Twenty-nine is a special one, we tease upcoming episode ideas that might make you blush or make you lean in to hear more. Kathleen has a question for Aubrie and then Aubrie has a question for Kathleen. It's a fun take on how each person see's things. Kathleen then gets into what a Patriarchal Blessing is and reads from hers. It's super interesting how the process of getting one happens and then what impact it has on those who receive it. Happy listening!

Funny title because we are who we are. But in all fairness, it's a fun and slightly serious episode as we look back on what 2022 looked like for us as a podcast and as individuals. Sometimes it felt like we were reading old posts from Facebook and cringing and other times we felt a sense of pride for accomplishing hard things. Sit back and enjoy the ride. As always thank you so much to all our listeners, supporters, and whoever else is out there listening. Love ya!

It's short and sweet but we packed in some really funny sh*t on this one. Is Aubrie trying to seduce the president or is she just losing her mind? What's in Kathleen's “just in case” envelope? All this and more. Y'all stay safe out there, the holidays are here and it's crazy! Happy Holiday's!!!xoxo--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thechristianandathiest/support
Insert heathen emoji here Well we gone and done it. We found us a Satanist straight out of the fires of the underworld. Ok it's not really like that. What we did do is find out that Satanists don't really worship Satan. There is so much to unpack here, and we hope that you give it a listen and learn something new. This isn't a conversion episode but one that makes space for learning and growth.
Thank you so much to our guests the Blackmore's for coming on our show and sharing with us.

This episode starts with a pep talk turned vent session via Kathleen, anyone else dislike Christmas? We also get into an issue Aubrie has been struggling with as far as if she's Christian and why she's asking this. We get to grace you with a great story about Thanksgiving dinner with Grandma Elaine who is rather spicey this year and we finish it off with what the actual heck is Mormon food storage.

Get ready for a fun one, everyone! We sit down with Brittany and Justin Blackmore, Kathleen's bro and sis-in-law, to talk Mormonism! Justin and Brittany share their family histories, Mormon childhoods, missions, and deconstruction process. Hear how leaving the church changed their lives and impacted their families, and learn a little bit about the Mormon Temple!
Warning for all our Mormon listeners: in this episode we discuss the initiatory and endowment services. We understand that this discussion may be difficult to stomach coming from non-believers, but it is important to the faith process and personal history of not only Mormons, but Exmormons as well. We strive to tell our personal truths while still being respectful to our active Mormon listeners.

That's right, magic panties. What the actual you know what? We've decided with our regular content in Morning Shows that we would also bring you facts about things you may not know about in Mormonism. One of those things are undergarments. Before we jump into that fun, we give a little behind the scenes of the Give Us a Sign episode, we talk about a time when Aubrie almost did a stent in rehab, and the attack that happened on Aubrie's small dog (dog is ok). We made this with love, laughter, and cheekiness. We in no way intend on offending anyone so if you find yourself feeling a little sensitive about our Ex Mormon host speaking on the topic of undergarments just know we left that for the end so once we are done talking about Maya's encounter with a Germon Shepard feel free to turn the episode off to avoid hearing Kathleen's take on her dislike of garments. Otherwise, continue on and learn the meaning of their magicalness...is that even a word? As always, we appreciate all of you!

Join us as we take you through the ups and downs, mostly ups, of our year and how CRAZY it has been. We had a blast reflecting on the crazy, cringy (gag), and silly moments when we were guests on other shows. We are still figuring this thing out and boy did Aubrie cringe hard looking back at one moment. Aubrie brings up how she was surprised listening back at how forward she was when she put out some dirty laundry on one of the Morning Shows but ended up being glad she did because it's good to reflect after time had passed. We end it with a teaser about a psychic we saw and how that went, should we drop that episode?
We hope you enjoy!

Are you ready for this? Aubrie had so many questions concerning The Book of Mormon and what it's even about because let's be honest, how many non-Mormon's even know what it is about? She starts off with the gist of what it's about talking about some lost tribes, how a "chosen one" dug up some gold plates, and how there is some really problematic underlying racism in a lot of its passages. It's not all rainbows and sunshine but it's a really fun discussion about something we may not have much understanding of. Tell us what you think, did Kathleen get it right or would you like to give us your take on it? Find us on Facebook and/or Instagram and let us know.

Get ready because this one is a wild ride.
We talk about how the Queen of England died (RIP). Spoiler alert, Kathleen doesn't care, and we get to hear why.
We go back and forth on what we think about cussing in front of kids as well "am I being fake if I don't cuss in front of certain people?". The number of bleeps that had to be put into this episode is unreal. So, there is an explicit filter on this episode because we didn't censor words like damn or hell, but all other heavier words are bleeped out for your listening enjoyment, if that's your thing.
We cover how excited we are about the upcoming Little Mermaid and how Ariel is played by a black actress rather than the OG white girl. So, that brings up the question are there really people out there mad about it or are there just people thinking that there is and there really isn't?
Finally, we end with what The Book of Mormon is about because Aubrie had no freaking clue about any of it and it's blowing her mind. Is it a good thing? Is it a bad thing? Listen right now to find out.

What a great break we had to enjoy our families this summer and to get into the swing of things with school. We have a great episode with fun topics like the book of Revelations and how Kathleen completely forgot there's a freaking dragon in it! Aubrie has made some great friends that happen to be Christian but have a few differing beliefs than her. It's been interesting that she's having to do the same work of being ok with the differing viewpoints much like how she deals with Kathleen's differing viewpoints. We discuss the song My Wish by Rascal Flatts and how maybe having everything handed to you can cause entitlement. The song Stand by Your Man by Tammy Wynette came on the radio the other day and Aubrie was shook by how troubling it was. Enjoy that wild ride of what it brings up. Lastly, we discuss who Jesus is to Kathleen and how she feels about the way others praise Jesus.
We are excited to bring you all more content and hopefully in the near future we will have video podcasting up for your viewing pleasure.

Today's show is a fun one. We have our friend, Kathleen's sister-in-law, Brittany with us to talk about an assortment of things. We talk about why a non believer may continue to go to church even if they don't believe. Kathleen and Brit talk about how they find community outside of church and how it is, indeed, authentic. Brittany , who is also atheist, lets us know where she thinks we go when we die, why donating her body to science is important to her, and about being comfortable with the concept of death. Aubrie asks them what their favorite bible verses were when they were Christian (their answer is very interesting for sure) and what their favorite hymn was. We conclude with where we think we will be in 5-10 years.

What does dating nightmares have to do with being a Christian or an Atheist? Absolutely nothing. This episode is purely for fun and fun was had. This is a little more racier than any of our other ones. Language is bleeped out but sex is talked about, not in crazy detail or anything. Most of our dating nightmares are based in our college days but some were in high school. Kathleen shares about how she dated a guy who thought he got her pregnant when in reality there was no humanly possible way for that to even happen but when you go to a Mormon University there is no telling how poorly taught these guys are on sex. Aubrie talks about how her boyfriend broke up with her over text message and this is the guy who gladly took her V card when he knew dang well she was waiting until marriage, he was a persistent one I guess (insert puke face). Kathleen speaks on all the boys who were so smitten over her that some even proposed, I get it, she's STUNNING and has a great personality but come on! We also go into Aubrie's most BORING date ever...it was so bad...cringy bad. There are so many more so we can't wait for you to get to take a listen and cringe and giggle with us.

Join our wild ride of talking about funerals. Have you ever gone to a funeral of someone who was known for being a not so great person but at their funeral everyone talks about how great they were and romanticizes them? What's with that? So we've vowed to say one bad thing at each others funeral. That leads us into the subject of our own funerals. Spoiler alert, Kathleen has hers all planned out like some weirdo. But with that we decided we don't want to do "Over the hill" themed parties but instead do a mock funeral for our 40th birthdays. We also talk about a non tradition after life care that isn't cremation or burial. We then come up with a crazy business idea that has to do with funerals...it's super worth listening to and I guarantee you will laugh at it if you have a twisted sense of humor. We conclude with talking about how we are the most into ourselves humans on the planet and can't seem to write a freaking bio about ourselves to save our lives but our pictures look nice. I swear we aren't that shallow.

This episode is part 1 of 3. We set out a goal to create space for both white and black people to come together and have conversations about the negative and the positive aspects of being a black person in America. Kathleen and Aubrie ask their guests, Candace and Sasha, questions on what it is like growing up black, what's appropriate and inappropriate when in come to hair and touching it, and touch on the heavy topic of what conversations they have with their children when it comes to their safety and police brutality. They brought up great points on what we as white parents can be talking about with our white kids on the subject of police brutality and the black experience. We conclude with asking about the phrase "angry black woman" and what that is even about.

This episode will not disappoint. We searched high and low for the most eccentric and colorful person and found none other than Nathaniel A.K.A Alistair. Alistair is our town's local drag queen and let me tell you, she is much more than just a drag queen. We got the honor to hear their story and to say we were shocked is an understatement. Nathaniel told us he was once a pastor who has been to conversion therapy and later came out as gay/nonbinary in 2018. Through coming out they are now living their best life being exactly how God created them. Hear the ups and downs of how Nathaniel came to be Alistair and what it's like being a fabulous drag queen. If you are wondering about why we used multiple pronouns, it's not to refer to Nathaniel as more than one person but to respect the nonbinary part of them. Nathaniel tells us his pronouns in the episode as he/him, she/her, and they/them and we are more than happy to respect that.

This episode was recorded via zoom bc poor Kathleen went and got sick, kinda. What really happened was Kathleen was sick but we had to do this via zoom because her younger two had to do pivot (PIVOT!) to home school this week and that made getting together hard. So thanks Zoom. Aubrie asks a really great question: If Kathleen's daughters are invited to special fun nights at Aubrie's church and they wanted to go would she and her husband be ok with them attending. We then go into intrusive thoughts and how they just found their way into Aubrie's head which she prayed about and used her spirituality to be able to cope and navigate her way out of it but made her wonder....how does Kathleen the atheist cope with things like that? We then discuss the 30 day challenge and how well it is going...or not going...and return to how Kathleen has a weird way of thinking and coping with things and how therapy is good. We hope you enjoy!

What in the world is a Mystic? This episodes guest, Candace Chantel, breaks it down for us. Candace grew up as a preachers kid and has since left Christianity and found a new path with Mysticism and Reiki healing. We dive deep into who is God to her and how she experiences God. Something super exciting about Candace is she is also a card reader so we have her pull our cards for a mini card reading session over the podcast and what she reveals is pretty amazing, it ends up blowing our minds. We recorded this episode in September of 2021 and to see how the cards read and what the podcast has done in those 4 months is really amazing. links to her site: thatreikimama.com and you can find her on Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok Candace was kind enough to allow our listeners a discount to her services. In this episode we briefly cover how our Christmas went, highly embarrassing photo's that delight Kathleen, and how we feel about women having friendship type relationships with men bc Aubrie feels a certain way about physical affection and why not discuss, ya know. Then we dive into divorce and how we were taught about it growing up vs. how we feel about it now. We then turn to the whole seasonal depression that may or may not be creeping up on Aubrie bc it's nearing her sisters 6 year anniversary of dying. We then conclude with how the 30 day challenge is going for us...we may have dropped some balls, oops.

This one is a little racy in the beginning but nothing that should make your grandma blush. We bring up the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That and how agism is in Hollywood, how they have a non binary character, and how we feel about Peloton's bad marketing decisions. We then go into what it would take for Aubrie and Kathleen to truly boo a pastor preaching. As well as when Aubrie's PTSD kicked in on the day of her oldest child's cardiologist appointment. At the end we discuss a little bit more on the 30 day challenge and conclude with the discussion Aubrie had with her kids who asked why Kathleen celebrates Christmas even though she is an atheist. Our shout out of the day is Ashley Mallory. We talk about her amazing business, if you would like to visit her website you can find it at emeraldexpressions.bigcartel.com and follow her on all social media at Emerald Expressions.

This episode is a really good one, seriously. Hear me out, we start off talking about how Aubrie "BOOED" her pastor on Sunday at church, yes for real she did, it's crazy we know. Then we discuss the bible verse Proverbs 3:5-6 and how different versions use different words and how one is Aubrie's favorite but the other really makes it sit weird with her. After that Kathleen asks a really good question "What happens when you ask all the questions and you come to the conclusion that this (Christianity) isn't real?" and Aubrie answers it in a way that Kathleen has never heard before...it's so good. Then we dive into Aubrie's journey of deconstructing and if she truly calls herself a Christian anymore, yikes. There are a few more things we didn't put in here but we conclude with a great story about how Kathleen's husband stands up to a grumpy old guy and he may or may not of thrown some hands...hehehe. Go listen, right now, it's so good!

You guys! To say the day we recorded in the cemetery was crazy, is a complete understatement. We woke up before the sun was out, drove through an insane storm, and one thing after another began to happen. Listen to our odyssey of madness and tell us if you think we ended up getting haunted by the spirits we tried to evoke, or if it just was chance that the sky decided to fall on us. Whatever you end up chopping it up to, I promise you will have fun listening!

In this episode we talk about how our weekend went. Kathleen went to a bone museum where she saw some crazy things, so much so, Aubrie had to look up and define the word "kink" to see if it defined what weird tradition she was questioning. Aubrie brings up a struggle she's having with how Christianity can be so hard to deal with and be sometimes. We also dive into a little bit of Greek mythology and why Kathleen has a special place in her heart for Medusa.
