Welcome to Messy Action, the podcast. I'm your host, Brooke Nolly. If you're anything like me, your primary motivators are connection and freedom. You're a sensitive soul.
I care about you feeling less alone on your life & business journey. I care about you connecting with those who see, hear & understand you. I care about you dropping the shoulds and doing more of what feels aligned.
Nature is messy, yet beautiful. We are nature, it's time we embraced our messy nature so we can accept more, lean in and be who we were always meant to be.
I'm glad you're here, I'd love to hear from you.
Welcome to Season 3. This season is all about individuation, resourcing from within, feeling your emotions, cultivating interdependence and living out the life of your dreams, well and truly before you feel ready.

I had a discovery call yesterday for our R&R retreat on Waiheke Island this Nov 3rd - 6th 2025 and I wanted to share her questions, objections and reservations. She signed up - wooo!
Maybe you can relate to her reservations so I wanted to make sure I addressed them here, so you've got even more clarity re making an informed buying decision.
Here's a wee snippet from the transcript: â
"I personally have been on many retreats where there's been someone that is clearly not a fit. And what I mean by not a fit is the rest of the group are in synergy and there is one or two people that haven't done the work or are not quite up to where the other folks are in business and life.
Not from a revenue point of view, but from an energy, self-responsibility 'have done the work' on themselves point of view. And when someone comes on retreat and they don't quite get that, it's punishing for others and as this guest said "one bad egg spoils it for everyone".
This retreat is about receiving and being generous but ultimately making sure that you look out for yourself and after yourself first and foremost.
Being completely sovereign and self-responsible, not looking for a leader or a guru leaving their ego at the door so their ego's not, 'look at me'.
'Look how much I know'.
'Look how I can help'.
Here's me giving you advice.
No one wants that when they come on my retreats. And anyone that does want that is not going to feel compelled or want to come on the kinds of retreats that I host, we don't do main character energy.
We don't do ego, we do care. Self-love, tuning into the energy, being respectful.

This has to be my most honest and authentic episode to date. In this ep I talk about my fear of being a narcissist, codependent 'friend' clients, discounts, overgiving and the recipe for absolutely hating your business and what to do about it.
Are you dying to connect with like souled women who have the same values as you? That are on the same wave length? That have been in business for a while and don't want to 'pick your brain' aka drain your life force energy...
Of course you do! Listen for all the info on our upcoming Nov retreat at Kaitiaki Lodge on Waiheke Island New Zealand.
Earlybird saves you $500 USD until Friday, September 5th 2025.

In this episode I dive into performative metrics and how no one cares what you have achieved but people care about your humanness. People wanna know if you're similar to them, whether they can relate to you, whether they can make their specific life and business dreams a reality too.
Accomplishments impress, vulnerability connects. Stop lookin' so polished and get messy.
You'll make more money and get more aligned clients, I promise.

This is the second episode I've done with Amy Luttrell on the Messy Action Podcast.
Amy has just completed 12 months in the Members Club and her results are unfathomable. I am SO PROUD.
In this episode we did some deep dives into letting go in order to call in what you actually want, going from a $14k biz year in 2022 to making over $17k in May this year, spending $20k to move to Rarotonga with her young family, increasing prices, self worth, self love, self sabotage and the most IMPORTANT part... how she was able to make the kind of money she now makes and it's not what you've been led to believe, it starts with e and ends with s.

In this episode I speak into giving yourself permission to have what you want.
What you want really is safe guidance. You have desires and dreams and curiosities for a reason, to move you in the direction you were always meant to go in.
You will never be as young as you are now, you will continue to get wiser; use those gifts, monetise them and create the life you have always wanted. Permission GRANTED!

In this episode, I talk about my weight loss journey; how I did it, who I enlisted for support, what resistance I had around it, why it was so simple and what worked so you can do the same if your physical body is something you have felt disempowered by.
For the longest time I thought I was doing all the right things but I had never actually enlisted support from anyone that actually had what I wanted. The world of weightloss made my skin crawl and my eyes roll. I had an inherent belief system that "if all the other things haven't worked, why would this?".
I needed to adopt a zen mind, beginners mind and throw away everything I had been indoctrinated with around diet culture and restriction/scarcity.
Working with Justin changed my life because his entire approach is rooted in self love and abundance - on all fronts. There's absolutely no restriction, it's a decision to step into radiance, self love and a willingness to shift your beliefs and see things differently.

In this episode I speak about what it means to have client boundaries, what it means to implement those boundaries over and over again and what it feels like when we breach our own boundaries. We are a constant work in progress and it would be foolish to believe we're complete experts at boundary setting when it comes to matters of the heart, dealing with abandonment wounds, childhood trauma and codependence, many of the avenues we navigate in a coaching business and client dynamic. In 2018 and 2019 I refer to myself as a flattened cardboard box, not having many boundaries and being overly accessible to everyone.
If you're a coach this episode will be beneficial in helping you honour and come back to the initial terms you set within a container or with a specific person. If you haven't created client boundaries, now is the time to honour yourself and start. Repeat after me: "it is safe to be discerning and set boundaries", a statement I wish I had adhered to sooner.
Access to you is something you get to choose.

In this episode I talk about how I have navigated difficult clients in the past, what process I personally go through and what I tend to remind my clients of in times of uncertainty (do I see this through or fire this client). As a life coach, we tend to lean toward the people pleaser when it comes to securing clients (especially in the build phase of our businesses) and this can often lead to saying a big yes to the wrong kinds of clients.
It's ok though, every client is showing you what you do and don't want - moving you closer to your ideal avatar.
What do we do when we know we've taken someone as far as they'll go?
How do we refund someone?
What is your zone of genius?
What kind of clients completely drain your energy and you're cringing getting on calls with them?
This episode is a permission slip to have those difficult conversations with clients that have been led to the water but continually refuse to drink.
Remember, you are a self responsible human and it's your job not to fall into those rescuer tendencies!

In this episode I have lost my voice. I raged a little too hard and it was because a few things got me wound up and I needed to let rip. For too long we have kept our true feelings and emotions bottled up inside of us and it leads to irrational behaviour, resentment and regret.
If we can allow ourselves to feel, heal, regulate and move through whatever is present, life is so much simpler, lighter and more manageable.
Here is the playlist I talked of in the episode.

In this episode I speak about why I am anti 'boss babe' culture and I am pro lifestyle alignment and living true to your values.
It is an absolute marketing frenzy out there, especially if you are in the coaching and personal development industry. People have a course for just about everything these days, so the question is how do we differentiate the good from the bs?
Post pandemic we're not available to be marketed to in unethical ways, we're not as interested in 'get like me' culture and we've moved into a healthy feminine energy of authenticity, rest, receptivity and flow. Hustle culture is pretty unappealing to the kinds of people I attract into my world.
They're here for connection, creativity, collaboration and building ethical, sustainable businesses rooted in the principals and values they hold true.
Many influencers I follow have built their businesses off the back of a MLM career and it shows. What do you think?
In this episode I speak on how I wracked up $26,500 in overdraft and credit card debt when I first started my business from not deciding soon enough on what I knew was inevitable, maybe you can relate...
I had so much fear about not knowing what was on the other side that instead of going all in, I self sabotaged and spent a lot of money I didn't have to re-learn the same lessons. Those lessons being, the fear will always be there, we must take the leap.
I touch on my journey at Revolut and the toxicity of working in fintech, my spiritual awakening, a weird situationship I had with an older man and how important it is to stand the fuck up for ourselves.
I cover a lot more but you'll have to listen to find out!
I was the queen of running away, til I ran straight into my own problems once more.

In this episode I get deep on the "I don't know" statement. As a 21st century species we have an issue with commitment. We experience the paradox of choice.
The key to manifesting is "I don't know if it's available to me but I'm gonna go for it and do it anyway"
Napoleon Hill talks about folks that are committed and those that are drifters. Don't be a drifter.
Don't:
Delay the inevitable
Say "maybe"
Say "I don't know"
Say "I'm not sure"
You are sure, if a knife was held to your throat, I'd say you'd know đ
What do you desire that you don't let yourself commit to?
Venus Williams says, "if you're not committed, you get anxiety. We get anxiety from not doing our best. Only you know if you're not doing your best."
You know what your best feels like. Your best can only occur if you commit, not drift.
Enjoy this episode.

Jessey McGuire is a life coach, podcaster and former school teacher that worked with me 1:1 for 16 weeks and is now in my annual entrepreneur membership: The Messy Action Members Club.
Whilst Jessey and I worked together he:
Went full time in his online coaching business and quit his teaching job.
Moved cities as he was living on his parents property in a cushy apartment and it wasn't serving the man he was becoming.
Traveled for 20 days solo around Europe, working from cafes and marveling down ancient streets.
Fired clients that weren't aligned with his values, his coaching style and the results he likes to get.
Upgraded the standards in his life and identified areas he was hiding from himself.
Made $9,500 in a week after setting a $10,000 intention.
Secured aligned clients paying higher prices with more integrity and skin in the game aka greater transformations.
Has settled into a business of service over self sacrifice and grinding.
We talk about
God, self love, boundaries, standards, how it doesn't need to be hard, resistance vs messy action, how we all require support and so much more.

In this episode I speak about the employee mindset vs entrepreneur mindset, boundaries, values and the 'over giver'. I speak into how making money, attracting money and being a match for money is an energetics game more than it's an output game.
Employee mindset = output
Entrepreneur mindset = somatics/energy/magnetism
If you're a coach, online biz owner, creator or creative, you'll enjoy this episode.

In this episode I mention the 'famous' Marie Forleo quote: "everything is figure-outable" - meaning, if we lean in instead of lean out, the odds of us coming out on top, alleviating a lot of anxiety & being successful is pretty high.
You're gonna be scared as an entrepreneur. You're gonna be scared as a new business owner. You're gonna be afraid of looking stupid on camera, of hate on the internet, of people not listening to you, of people judging you, of your work being kind of shit. Well guess what? We're all scared, of COURSE you're gonna be scared. That's the epic part of business & life, you get to be scared whilst simultaneously doing the thing anyway.
I mention Brené Brown and the comfort I get from her messiness and willingness to do it all anyway, despite it feeling like a shit show at times.
Ask yourself right now: what do I need?
It's usually support or someone to say "you're a fu* bada and I know what you're made of" - we can't stay stuck for long when someone believes in us.

In this episode I address toxic people, toxic traits, people pleasing and our rescuer tendencies that go unnoticed. We don't know what we don't know.
The Karpman Drama Triangle is a great tool to analyse our relationships and it's even greater when utilised (aka stepping outside of the triangle all together).
We've all got toxic family members, friends that are past their use by date and people that are not meant to be in our future, it's whether we keep putting up with it, letting it interrupt our peace or whether we trust in the God's that be that if we choose ourselves, it'll work out in our favour.
Things don't work when we're holding onto people that aren't a values fit for the version of ourselves we're becoming. I dive into this and more, enjoy!

In this episode I speak of 'building your version of Rome' - essentially whose life are you living? Of course, Rome wasn't built in a day, the question is what are you actually building?
Are you building the wrong version of Rome?
"We live within parameters we've created for ourselves for lives we don't actually want."
What do you actually want?
Do you know how to sharpen your self trust and intuition?
Are you stuck in perfectionist inaction?
Do you know what's been blocking you?
You see, only you know when it's time to move on. Is it time?
I address these statements and more in this episode.

Sometimes, we've gotta take a chance on ourselves. Sometimes we don't know how something is gonna work but we know we have to do it regardless. If you're a coach/consultant and your primary income is from client work/coaching clients, this episode is a goody.
I'll share how I increased my revenue 350%+ in one day, why firing clients is always necessary for expansion and what to do when you're left with a decision that is seemingly financial but it's really coming from your soul.

In this episode, I share exactly how I made $307k profit in a little over 6 years, tax free. I unknowingly applied the principals from the book The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn which you can watch on YouTube or purchase the book here: https://amzn.to/422n70R
This episode highlights how when you're young, naive and have little to lose, you've in turn got everything to gain. All I knew was to have blind faith, trust the process and see what happens. I wasn't spiritual in March 2015 when I made this decision but I have always had a blind faith that things will always work out in my favour because from experience, they always do, even when I don't get what I thought I wanted ;)

In this episode I talk about branding and why branding with soul is the most important part of your business, especially if you're a personal brand, coach, creative or creator.
For years, I was my brand, I could meet people on the street and they'd want to work with me. The universe plonked me in places and spaces where people needed me. I didn't really know how to translate that into an 'online brand', I share about this more in the episode.
I use examples of Sophia Amoruso, Barry's, Soul Cycle, Lululemon and many more to illustrate my point.
Brands are what we associate with. We judge people, businesses and purchase decisions based on our values and whether that brand aligns with them.
In short, this is a podcast about branding, values, and how elitist we all are in some shape or form.

In this episode I speak about my up and down journey when it comes to honesty, with both myself and others, when suicidal thoughts would hit for me (specifically not wanting to wake up and get on with my day), being 'voluntarily' creatively blocked and how that can affect our mission, business and overall sense of wellbeing.
Messy action is always the intention but what happens when the perceived blockers just feel way too big? Too insurmountable?
Our greatest gift is honesty, first with ourselves, and secondly, with others.

Welcome to the Messy Action Podcast. This episode is an introduction, the tell all. You'll further understand why I created it, who it's for and how we're gonna take the world by storm with the 'swan' movement.
Messy Action requires courage, paired with blind faith, paired with the acceptance of being imperfect and a lil bit messy.
We serve the creatives, the female artists with an entrepreneurial spirit that require time freedom, financial freedom and location freedom to be free.
Authentic connection is a huge motivator for swans, they can't stand small talk, rules for the sake of rules and anything that feels like pressure and restriction.
Welcome to the community. I can't wait to hear what you think.

What better way to start a podcast than with a wee story. In this episode I share a fair bit about me and how I got from 'there' to 'here' with many trials and tribulations along the way. My story is certainly unconventional and I'm sure there could have been an easier way, but here we are!
I created this podcast in the hopes you'll feel less alone and ALSO in the hopes that you'll never settle. You deserve a Purposefully Clear life and I'm here to remind you how.
Follow us over on @brookenolly and @purposefullyclear and let us know how you found it, I am obsessed with 'key takeaways'.
