Sami E and Meg have been having conversations about God's Word and what life looks like as a follower of Christ. Now, they're inviting you to join the conversation already in progress! We're covering topics like Faith, Hope, Love, Identity & Character.
In our last episode of this season, we're wrapping up our conversation on Holy Confidence! This episode is full of mindset shifts and practical ways to identify whether you're living by Holy Confidence by the power of the Holy Spirit or whether the confidence you're living is from a place of striving. There's no condemnation for those in Christ, so we want you to know - you are welcome in this conversation. Picture yourself in the room with Sami E and Meg, and let us know your perspective in the reviews section.
Meg shares a story of when she faked confidence, and it worked for her. But deep inside, no matter how capable and present she appeared, she knew she was a fraud. Holy Confidence is authentic and honest, and isn't prideful, and will only bring glory to God.
But how do we get there? Sami E and Meg share their steps and time they've spent pondering this idea, and how it may have been different than they expected.

In our Holy Confidence series, we're chatting this episode all about being connected to Christ. The implications of this are huge - it's more than an eternal security or a lifestyle that is in and not of the world. It's a foundation of trust in God's Word and Character which leads to a firm foundation and true confidence that isn't all ego.

We want to be women who rest in the knowledge and power of God and don't pursue greatness for our glory. We want to walk in purpose and peace for the glory of God and the good of His Kingdom. We hope this conversation can start defining what this looks like in your life and offer you a greater awareness of the holy confidence God provides.

In this Spiritual Progress series, we want to be aware of guideposts that show we're on the right track. Being led by the Spirit is a great way to see that progress. But the trick with the Spirit is that it can't be forced - it's a humble reliance on Him every day. Sami E and Meg share some of their experience and thoughts on having a thriving spirit.

If you've chosen to follow Jesus, then you've chosen a life of intentional seeking and finding. It's good work. It's necessary for us to grow in our relationship with Christ and our reliance on the Holy Spirit. So, how can we do this while maintaining a heart of peace and not striving? Sami E & Meg don't come to this episode with all the answers, but they do have a desire to explore and think critically about what it means to "seek first the kingdom of God."

Do you hear voices? Sami E and Meg believe we all do - they can take many forms. But what voices are we letting speak over our lives, and do they speak life? As they move forward in our Spiritual Progress series, Sami E and Meg ask the question: why do we let other voices take precedent over the Gospel in our lives? They also explore the idea of God's Word being the most powerful Voice in our lives, and how we can borrow others voices when we're in desperate need of encouragement.
Both Sami E and Meg have felt like they're in a season of Winter. We're looking for guideposts that encourage us on the road of spiritual progress in our relationship with Christ. We talked about Spiritual Growth last season, and want to know what does a person look like who is experiencing spiritual progress.
This episode, we start by exploring qualities of people we've looked up to as spiritually mature. We define a few qualities and look at scriptures that help point us toward Christ as we pursue growth.
And at the end, we're trying something new - join us in repeating words of life over yourself!

God's created each of us on purpose with a purpose. Our ultimate goal is to bring Him glory, but there are so many ways a person could accomplish it. Our passions (what lights us up inside) are a gift. How cool is it that we can pursue those and walk them out in a way that honors how God created us! In our final episode of this series, Sami E and Meg answer a few questions about passions, and offer up ways to walk them out in a disciplined way.
How can we approach sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ without becoming a salesperson or too lax with the good news that we have? Sami E and Meg explore their backgrounds in a grace-filled and informative way. They also offer tips to naturally share what Jesus has done for people.

In this episode of our Spiritual Disciplines series, we explore the idea of a natural, daily awareness of God in our lives. How can we pay attention to God and be aware of His presence in our daily life? How can he be just a thought away? This sort of awareness is a practice, and we talk through how to get to that place.
How can we approach the Bible in our spiritual walk? Is discipleship part of it? What are our opportunities for growth in engaging with God’s Word? We break all these questions down and more in this new episode of our Spiritual Disciplines series!
Next in our series on Spiritual Disciplines, we talk about Meditation. Is there one right way to meditate as a Christian? What do we meditate on? When is the best time to meditate in our lives?
Our goal is to offer tools and hope as you're wanting to grow in your walk with Christ. Feel free from shame or pressure to perform and rest in the work of Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit as you step into meditation.
In our second episode of the Spiritual Disciplines series, we explore the practice of worship. What does worship look like for the kingdom-minded believer? Are we called to more than engaging with music in church? What else can we do to glorify God and bring a worshipful heart to our time with Him?

Prayer - is it something we check off of a list because we're supposed to, or is it done because we want to be with our Lord? Does prayer have to be performative or scripted? What's the "right way" to pray?
Sami E and Meg tackle some of these big questions, and want this conversation to bring some peace and freedom to your prayer life.
In this new season, Sami E and Meg talk through some Spiritual Principles that have deepened their relationship with Christ.

For our final episode of this season, we talk about the principle of personal responsibility. We chat about what it is and what it isn’t according to the Kingdom of God.
Sami brings a discussion on a lesser-known principle of God’s Kingdom, the idea of Glory to Glory as found in 2 Corinthians 3:18. Knowing what this principle means, we explore how to live into this truth.
This week, Sami E and Meg discuss the principle of repentance and forgiveness. Decisions to repent and forgive can change our lives and make us free to live well for the Kingdom of God. We're looking at what is our part in this principle, and what is God's part.
We start our conversation on principles with Sowing & Reaping. This is a repeated pattern all through scripture, and Sami E & Meg are chatting about how to walk it out without worry or fear.
Character is put on trial. Join as we consider what is tried and proven in our lives, as well as how to walk in knowledge and wisdom in regard to character
We jump back into the Q&A format to chat about character. What makes worldly character and values different from Kingdom character and values? If they achieve the same perceived result, are they the same? What can we respect and value about character development in all image bearers of God?
Our conversation here is all about the pace and purpose of pursuing character growth in the Christian life. Do we want to impress others with high character? Do we desire behavior modification or soul-deep transformation?
Character is so important to Kingdom living - but what does it mean and how can we attain good character?
Is it an effort of the flesh, or a gift of the Spirit? Or both?
For our last episode on Identity, we're drilling down on the key to living in light of our identity as a free and blessed child of God. What do we do as a result of who God says we are? One of the keys: humility!
Sami E & Meg deep dive into Identity in Christ - it's a Christian buzzphrase, but what does it mean, really?
What are the results of it in our life as we live for His Kingdom?
Sami E and Meg draw on their experiences (Sami with motherhood and mentorship, and Meg with mentorship) on how to train up identity in those whom God has placed in that relationship.
There are five things to remember when being intentional in training up identity.
Also, if you want to keep mosquitos away, check out Sami E's lifehack on some handy mosquito spray.
This season, we're exploring Identity, Character & Principles, and how those are lived by someone who is in Christ and living for His Kingdom.
Identity is our first topic - what is it? Where do we find our identities? How can we say "Yes & Amen" to what God says about us?
As we wrap up this season, Sami E & Meg tie together faith, hope, and love. Love is at the center of everything we do, and it is built upon a foundation of faith and grown by actions in hope.
We'll be taking a 4 week hiatus until the release of Season 2. Send your questions in to us - email thesetfreejourney@gmail.com
There are several different ancient words for the word love. We also each approach love from the perspective of our lens and individual culture. Since Sami E and Meg are women of The Word of God, we wanted to dive deeper into a couple of the ancient words scripture uses for love.
Sami E and Meg answer some questions about love. We talk about where we learned what love was, what culture defines love as, and what God has to do with it all.
We've chatted about faith and hope this season, we're looking forward to having a conversation about love in this section of the season.
The feeling of disillusionment is felt by one and all at some point. Join in as we discuss the effects of disillusionment and choosing a path of freedom towards Hope.
Desperate to solve our own problems, we regularly forget that it is God's power and hope that does not disappoint. But how can we rely on God's hope that will not disappoint when we so easily shift into attempting to manipulate or make checklists to accomplish it in our own power?
Our goal is to bring you along with us into a deeper faith and reliance on God's work. We can finally rest.
Also, Sami E's life tip today will have you finding new recipes and kitchen hacks.
Recorded a few months ago, we share how Spring has sprung! And we're learning more about hope.
The world's hope can disappoint us - we're looking for the hope that doesn't disappoint us. We find some direction in Romans 5:1-5 for believers under grace.
What does it look like to be practically living in this hope?
It's a complete trust - an activation of faith - trusting that God, the good Giver of good gifts has given us a hope that will not disappoint. When we try to mimic or fabricate it, we eventually are disappointed in our fallible efforts.
Choosing hope is an acceptance of a gift.
Megan also shares a travel tip in our lifehack segment!
Samantha is discovering the walk of hope in her life and how to be a person of hope. How exactly does it walk out?
In Romans 5:3-5, we read about a hope that will not disappoint and define hope as a confident expectation of good.
Through this section on hope, we ask valuable questions, like scripturally, where do we find hope? And practically, what can I do to address hope in my life?
Sami and Meg consider how personal each person's faith is, and how we surrender and also build our faith through each choice we make. We see reflected in the stories of Sarah (Abraham's Wife) and Samson that they were counted faithful in their lives despite other choices they made that did not reflect trust in God's character.
Also, in the lifehack segment, one of Meg's daily use household appliances causes some issues but leads to a very satisfying upgrade.
Recorded back when we had our last spring snow (yay, Indiana!), we chat about the consistency of the character of God and how it reflects in how our character is built.
We shift into the New Testament and ask "How does our faith work out & grow in relation to the New Testament?"
We reference:
Hebrews 13:8
James 1:2-4
Romans 5
For our Lifehack segment today, Samantha tells a story and gives us some advice on snowblowing & pockets.
What character attribute of God does Megan want to look into in order to grow her faith? God's justice!
She mentioned Psalm 19:7-10 to Sami as a way to begin to value The Law (Torah).
It's so clear that we all struggle with the Levitical law with its specific, particular consequences. It's such a struggle to approach with a mind to see God's character as anything other than Righteous Judge, ready to condemn us when we're wrong. The Law is so precious - it shows so much more about God's character than that!
So now, we are approaching the Scripture (Law) with the expectation of good. How does The Law change us? How do we make it more familiar? How do we treasure it?
We come to the Law expecting to see God's full character.
Sami shares a lifehack that had us cackling with laughter.
Let's jump into the spiritual gumbo of Faith, Hope, & Love (1 Corinthians 13:13)! We're talking about building a faith that is rightly built upon the character and person of God - because His character is not like us or anything we can see. He's “so other” than us.
