The Great Sift Podcast with Chris Steward: Recent Episodes

Chris Steward

Welcome to The Great Sift Podcast. Through weekly installments, we provide content that will engage, encourage, and empower you as a believer in Jesus Christ. We tackle topics of the day, host interviews, and provide a Biblical view on what is happening in the church and the world at large. Pastors are tasked with many responsibilities. Through the years I have watched as congregations keep getting bigger and bigger. Oftentimes, it is difficult to ensure everyone is on the same page. The goal of this channel and podcast is to help fill in the gaps you may be missing in your Christian walk. We want to be a resource for you as we all continue to get closer to the Lord. So grab a Bible, open your heart, and let’s begin to sift through all that God has in store.

Today’s episode we will be discussing the question, Is it always God’s will to heal? I am going to attempt to represent both sides of the discussion with clarity and ultimately we will allow God’s Word to speak for itself. I do believe there is a clear answer to this question. We will first look at the verses that are taught to show it is always God’s will to heal physically here on earth. Secondly, we will share what that brings out for the believer, and lastly we will look at what God’s Word says in regards to healing and affliction in a believer's life. So grab a bible, a pen and some paper, sit back and relax as The Great Sift begins, right now.

Today’s episode we are going to be examining the teaching of the prosperity gospel. It is not an examination of any one person’s ministry, rather a look into the basis of a teaching that has been damaging to many lives in our nation and around the world. As believers we have the wonderful ability in our world today to ask ourselves this question, “What does the Bible say?” Then we can go and read it for ourselves as to grow in our relationship with the Lord. So as we move ahead, I will be quickly explaining one of the foundational ways the prosperity gospel is presented, share what text is used, and then go through what the full context of that same passage is to see if what some teach is what the Bible says. So grab a Bible, pen/paper for some notes, and sit back as the Great Sift begins right now.

In 2022, as The Great Sift becomes a larger focus, I hope to double my listener reach. As this podcast continues to build momentum, I want to extend an opportunity to you to partner with me in any of these three ways:

  • Prayer. I would be honored if you would pray for me and my family. The reach we have locally, as we travel, and through this podcast is reaching people that would not normally be found in church.

  • Connection. In 2022 I will be conducting one interview per month that focuses on different current events and how they affect the church at large. If you have people who would be good for these types of interviews or maybe you would like to be, then let's connect.

  • Financially. As I mentioned above, I am making this my primary focus. A partnership with us financially is how we will continue to make an impact on those around us. For those who make a monthly recurring donation you will be sent a free copy of my book. As well as, receive a monthly encouraging word from me via email. The ways to give are found below:

  • Monthly. https://www.patreon.com/thegreatsift This is the link to use if you are willing to contribute monthly recurring support. There is no minimum or maximum on the amount.

  • Easy $20 One-Time Gift. https://square.link/u/8AkxmtDc

I want to thank you for taking the time to consider partnering with me in any of the 3 ways mentioned above.

There are many attributes about God that we find in Scripture. Three of the most repeated and reiterated are, God is good, God is able, and God is faithful. Through His goodness He shows His ability to bring people to repentance. He is then faithful to His Word that anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved! However, in our society today, the amount of self glorification and deifying of man is rampant. Unfortunately, I am not talking about the secular world or its worldview. I am talking about how this practice has entered the visible church. Today we will be discussing a few ways it has entered, what popular teachings are supporting this perspective, and what is a Biblical response to the issue we are facing. So as always, grab a Bible, a pen for some notes, and sit back and relax as the Great Sift starts right now.

If you found this helpful, please do consider partnering with us.

Have you ever heard of mnemonic phrases? Statements like, in 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. These phrases are ones that help us to remember important facts that we may need in our lives. In the New Testament, Paul gives us 5 such sayings. These phrases are important because they help summarize the gospel and helps us as believers move forward in our Christian walk. In this episode we work through two of them focusing on the gospel, God's grace, and what we are to do as believers.

Have you ever heard the statement, “I don’t want a religion, I want a relationship.” or Christianity has nothing to do with religion but it is about our relationship with Jesus. Then even one step further maybe you have heard or you have even said, “I wish those christians would quit being so religious and stop acting like Pharisees.” In today’s episode we are going to explore the aforementioned statements. We are going to answer the question: what is a religion? Are we a part of one as believers? What does a relationship with Jesus truly look like scripturally? Why do we compare people to pharisees? What are we actually saying about them? So grab a bible and settle in as we tackle all of this, right now on The Great Sift.

Have you ever heard the saying "Everyone NEEDS a Pastor"? I have heard it my whole life. Yet, no one explained to me throughout the years what a Pastor is. What are the qualifications? What is he supposed to do? How does this help me? In todays episode this is what we will explore within God's Word. Grab and a Bible and enjoy!

If you find these teachings helpful and would like to support TGS you can do so in two ways.

1) Please be in prayer for us. While the means of communicating the truth through this platform may seem passive, the conversations that have begun with people even outside of the faith have been amazing and challenging at the same time. Your support of prayer truly helps us to keep moving forward in presenting God's Word to all who may listen.

2) If you feel led to, please consider donating to help keep content coming out consistently. You can donate in two ways. You can become a monthly subscriber or give a one-time donation on Patreon or you can give per paypal. Links are below.

In this episode we will be discussing a topic that so many people often get hung up on. “What am I called to do?” People don’t want to simply work but also go after a deeper purpose in their lives. While yes, the Lord does call individuals to be Pastors, teachers, and missionaries not all have that specific purpose in the body of Christ. So grab a Bible and open your hearts, We will get into all of this and more right now on the Great Sift.
