Welcome to The Great Sift Podcast. Through weekly installments, we provide content that will engage, encourage, and empower you as a believer in Jesus Christ. We tackle topics of the day, host interviews, and provide a Biblical view on what is happening in the church and the world at large. Pastors are tasked with many responsibilities. Through the years I have watched as congregations keep getting bigger and bigger. Oftentimes, it is difficult to ensure everyone is on the same page. The goal of this channel and podcast is to help fill in the gaps you may be missing in your Christian walk. We want to be a resource for you as we all continue to get closer to the Lord. So grab a Bible, open your heart, and let’s begin to sift through all that God has in store.
Today’s episode we will be discussing the question, Is it always God’s will to heal? I am going to attempt to represent both sides of the discussion with clarity and ultimately we will allow God’s Word to speak for itself. I do believe there is a clear answer to this question. We will first look at the verses that are taught to show it is always God’s will to heal physically here on earth. Secondly, we will share what that brings out for the believer, and lastly we will look at what God’s Word says in regards to healing and affliction in a believer's life. Today’s episode we are going to be examining the teaching of the prosperity gospel. It is not an examination of any one person’s ministry, rather a look into the basis of a teaching that has been damaging to many lives in our nation and around the world. As believers we have the wonderful ability in our world today to ask ourselves this question, “What does the Bible say?” Then we can go and read it for ourselves as to grow in our relationship with the Lord. So as we move ahead, I will be quickly explaining one of the foundational ways the prosperity gospel is presented, share what text is used, and then go through what the full context of that same passage is to see if what some teach is what the Bible says. So grab a Bible, pen/paper for some notes, and sit back as the Great Sift begins right now.

Have you ever heard of mnemonic phrases? Statements like, in 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue. These phrases are ones that help us to remember important facts that we may need in our lives. In the New Testament, Paul gives us 5 such sayings. These phrases are important because they help summarize the gospel and helps us as believers move forward in our Christian walk.
