In this episode, I audit Zakia Haughton's podcast Easeful Living. She started this show in late 2022, as a way to express herself and hopefully gain clients, but decided to stop after five episodes because of the push-pull between the show being a free-flowing passion-project podcast and one meant to convert her clients. We talk about:

  • How to plan seasons that make sense with what you're selling at different points
  • How to create cover art and titles that actually reflect the solutions you provide
  • and more.

Zakia is a former Online Business Manager and Ops Agency Owner turned Launch Strategist and Faith-Based Coach who equips online women leaders with the strategic, somatic, and spiritual tools they need to bring their life, values, and business into alignment so they can execute and scale sustainably with ease. Do you feel yourself wanting to do better but constantly getting sucked into the fear success cycle? That's where my clients and I I find ourselves in different areas of our business. As self-identified overwhelmed, burnt-out gifted kids, we always want to do our best but always get stuck in this fear of success cycle - never giving full effort out of fear of success, rejection, and feeling like we have to do it all on alone. So in this episode, I break down what this really looks like and how we break out of it.

You will learn:

  1. What is the fear of success cycle, and how can we break out of it?

  2. What does it mean to be an overwhelmed, burnt out, gifted kid trying their best?

  3. What is a compassionate accountability partner and how can they help us reach our full potential?

"Trust me, I know it very very well - we don't have to succeed alone, we don't have to feel like we have to be this self made person. If anything, we are always stronger because we have people supporting us and that is truly what will allow us to succeed in a way that still feels safe."

I made the mistake of trying to build relatability with stories that didn't ultimately further my business goals. Through this, you'll be able to create a successful podcast that provides value to your listeners and convert to your business goals. In this episode, you will learn the following:1. Discover how to strategically use stories in your podcast while avoiding oversharing and protect your brand.2. "Thought leaders have coherent thoughts. However, coherent thoughts don't appear out of thin air. We often have to massage them out and develop them. We often need to ask for help and support to have someone else ask us the right questions to get our message all the way there."

Here's what I cover:

When you hear consistency, you may think it means simply posting at a regular cadence without missing a week. However, there are two more layers of consistency you need to implement in your podcast strategy in order to maximize your conversions. I dive into what they are and why they matter in this week's episode.

Here's what I cover:

  1. What are the three layers of consistency needed to get the most out of a podcast?

  2. How can better outlining and messaging consistency improve podcast conversions?

  3. What strategies can be implemented to ensure a podcast has all three types of consistency?

If you're ready to implement all three layers of consistency with ease and support, book a call with me to discuss how IsaGoodPodcast and Hands-Off Production can work for you!

In this episode, you will learn why listener numbers alone don't measure the success of your podcast and what metrics you should track instead. Using both my show and my client's shows as examples, I share the importance of having a high-converting podcast strategy and the benefits of focusing on metrics other than listener numbers.

"Listeners boost the ego, not the wallet"

I had to be honest with myself, in 2022, I was treating my podcast like a cute little passion project - not like the marketing vehicle I want it to be. And the hard truth is Passion project podcasts don't convert!

In this episode, I cover what it looks like to be treating your show like a passion project rather than a marketing tool and how I'm changing to follow the same high-converting strategy I give my clients.

Have you listened to a podcast episode and felt overwhelmed by how much information the host was trying to stuff into one episode? To help combat this in my clients' shows, I teach them a strategy that creates episodes that follow one clear thread. By using this tool, we can make sure their episodes are easy to follow and provide listeners with valuable content that leads them to conversion.

"When you are focused on answering one specific question and getting everything that you can out about that one question, it's going to be so much more powerful than if you're trying to answer a bunch of vague questions about a humongous topic."

In this episode, you will learn the following:

  1. How can you create a podcast episode that follows one clear thread?

  2. What strategies can you use to make sure your podcast episodes are effective and easy to follow?

  3. How can you stretch out one topic into multiple episodes to provide value?

In this episode, you will learn how we effectively attract your ideal clients through your podcast by leveraging both expertise and belief-focused episodes.

If you're hoping to bring in ideal clients for your business, your strategy needs to combine expertise and belief-focused episodes. Together these episodes not only build trust with future clients but also converts them quickly. This balance of these two types of episodes allows you to be seen as an industry leader, build trust with your ideal clients, and convert more quickly.

"Belief-focused episodes allow the person listening to say, 'Oh my goodness, this is the coach or service provider for me. I align with this. I want to embody this belief a bit more and I want to take on this mindset as I use the strategies that this coach or service provider can give me.'"

In this episode, you will learn my two-step process for handling the "What Ifs" that start flooding your mind when you jump into podcasting.

In this episode, you will learn the following:

  1. How do you handle the doubts and what-ifs that come up when starting a new project?

  2. What does it mean to commit to your concepts and why is it so important?

  3. How can walking out your what ifs help you gain confidence and take action?

"Committing to your concepts allows you to show up with confidence, knowing that what you're putting out into the world is beneficial and valuable to the people who need to listen to it."

Do you ever find yourself saying do as I say, not as I do to your clients, to your different providers, to even your contractors? That is something I found myself saying a little bit too often and not lovin'it. So this episode is going to be all about practicing what we preach and I'm so excited to bring it to you today. I'm taking a break from podcast production to reflect on some areas where I haven't been following my own process and how I can remedy that. The areas I cover in today’s episode are: 1. Pre-recording episodes to avoid panic recording 2. Taking the time to properly outline each episode 3. Taking season breaks to reflect and improve the quality of the podcast The quality of my show is only going to skyrocket when I come back, so please check out the previous 70 episodes in the meantime. Can I just go ahead and brag to you about my systems right now? That's literally what I want to do this whole episode. But I promise it won't just be me bragging

As solopreneurs, we start by tweaking an offer, bootstrapping it, doing what needs to be done and being really scrappy about it. And that's amazing. But sometimes we have to really look at those systems and look at those processes and say, is this the most efficient way that it could be done?

I was putting it off entirely until I met systems strategist Ariana Rodriguez (@Arianarodriguez.co)! And let me tell you I am so grateful I did.

In this episode I talk about:

  1. Where I was with my systems before this audit.
  2. How doing a system audit with a specialist can help you gain confidence in your offer
  3. How to get started on improving your own business systems

Today’s special episode is from Messy In The Middle with Haley Johnson!  I had so much fun as a guest and thought the tips were so good I had to bring it over to all of you.  In this episode we talk about:

Our entrepreneurial journey together with the lessons I learned along the way. Using podcasting to scale your business and rise to the challenges of that messy middle! My career path: from the corporate world to creating my own business. How I realized that podcasting was key for me as a business owner and the power of podcasts in general. Dealing with rejections, responsibilities, and our biggest rookie mistake. Entering the “messy middle” of your business and accepting that it’s okay if you don’t know it all. How I decide where to focus my energy when it comes to marketing. Why I believe that there aren’t so many rules when it comes to creating content.

It is so liberating to admit when we're feeling low energy or when we don't feel like showing up all the time. Recently, I've been feeling low energy and it's been affecting my ability to post on social media or even just go on my Instagram stories. I know that I'm not the only one who goes through these cycles and I don't want to shame myself for it. If anything, I want to be honest about it and remind people that this is normal.

So I've been managing my low energy by continuing to reduce the resistance I have in terms of recording my podcast. I also make sure that my show gives me room to be human. And finally, I repurpose and leverage this incredible podcast.

"We have to allow for these moments."

Sometimes we just want someone to tell us what to do, wave a magic wand, and make our business successful. I did and still do at times. This led me to outsource my decision-making to coaches in the past. I wanted someone to come in, tell me step 1-5, and then pat me on the back for being a "good business owner." Spoiler: It left me completely disempowered and I ended up hating my business. Today I'll tell you that story and what I ask myself to avoid this in any future investments.

What if we could trust that what we have to say is exactly what our audience needs to hear? What if we could stop doubting our every word? Those are the questions I've been mulling over and bring to you today. With these new beliefs in mind, think of how much more powerfully you'd show up in your content, calls, and relationships.

In Tunde Oyinen's book, "Speak", she shared the affirmation "Whatever you say is going to be the right thing to say" and it arrived exactly when it needed to in my life.

We are encouraged to define our why every day as entrepreneurs. We are asked why we want what we want, what we’re going to do once we get it, and what we’re going to do right after. We always say, “of course, I want this!” but then we get in our own way. We procrastinate, we doubt, we don’t go for it, we hold back.

So I’ve started asking “why don’t I want this?” instead to explore what’s really going on for me.

This is an incredibly powerful journaling exercise I encourage you to try for yourself.

"Authority," "Community," "Value," "Streamline," and "ROI." These words have real concrete definitions, but when we start using them in every single post, story, sales page, and conversation without knowing precisely what we want to convey, the words turn into mush. They obscure our message and muddy our points. I've been struggling with this a lot recently, as have my clients, so I want to bring this topic to you today.

Let me know what buzzwords and jargon you're sick of in your industry by DMing me @IsaMediaInc on Instagram.

7-day challenge here, 15-day feat there, 30-day challenge everywhere - these types of programs are everywhere, and often they're great! However, they might not be the fix you actually need in your business. They look sexy, they are great headlines, and announcing them on social feels AWESOME! But, they aren't meant to be sustainable long-term solutions, which is what we should really be after.

So, tune in to this episode to hear what challenges have lured me in, which I'm deciding to try, and which I'm adapting to fit in the long-run.

THE beauty of being a business owner is that you get to decide what you want. You get to decide what kind of clients, what kind of work, what kind of day, what kind of pay YOU want. Unfortunately, many of us start off with the advice to "take whatever you can get" and end up building a business we "don't mind" at best or resent at worst.  Listen in to hear more about how following that advice did me dirty and how I now approach deciding if a client is aligned with what I want to build long-term.  Share your thoughts and reflections with me @IsaMediaInc on Instagram  Join the Own Your Platform series here --> https://isamediainc.ck.page/own

As business owners, we’re expected to go all-in on investing in ourselves and in our businesses. But for me that was not realistic. Instead it looked like an incremental journey of pushing the upper limit of what I was comfortable spending and the moments where I felt pushed to invest more. I eventually worked my way up to spending more than I did in all of 2021 in just May of 2022.

If you take anything away from this episode I want you to know:

There’s nothing wrong with requesting a payment plan.

You don’t have to drain your bank account to zero to prove you believe in yourself.

The way we talk about our business when we're not trying to sell and what responses we focus on, tell us a lot about how we feel internally. I realized that the way I was talking about my business reflected the insecurities and judgments I had about myself - but I was saying it was all other people. I'm sharing tangible examples of how I shifted this and what it taught me in today's episode.

I used to panic at the thought that someone would look at me and think “wow, she does NOT have her ish together.” and sometimes the fear creeps up. It comes up when I think about what my office looks like, how old I am, or how much I have left to learn.

But the thing that has been game-changing for me has been admitting wholeheartedly “I don’t have my sh*t together” and feeling liberated from alllllll the pressures that come with trying to look like I do.

In this episode I share with you what has transformed my thinking around this, why I hate the advice “fake it till you make it” and how going from making “look at me” content to making “come with me” content made all the difference.

If you’re ready to admit that this is all one big experiment and we’re here to enjoy it, send me a dm @isamediainc or share this episode on your stories!!

We aren’t going to get very far if we don’t pay attention to the people we have in our corner. So today I am sharing with you the 5 types of people you need in your support group, what their roles are, and how you can reciprocate that support back to them.

They range from quick moments to more impactful interactions, but each one is very important. And if we aren't intentional about how we show up to the connection driving moments, we might actually end up hurting our reputations a lot more than we think.

Don't forget there's a human on the other side of the screen.

In today's episode, I'm pulling from my expertise as a marketer and content strategist as well as my experience to share with you a changing approach to content. I go through the evolution of my own approach and the one I use for clients and share why I'm gravitating towards  a creation process that is much more rooted in longevity rather than trends.

I'd love to hear your thoughts! Send me a message @isamediainc on Instagram or @itsisabellasanchez on tiktok

As entrepreneurs, we get so used to doing things our own way and creating our own systems that we might start to shut out other ways of doing things. How do we get past that and instead encourage our team members to challenge us on how things are done or show us that they can actually do it better?

Sometimes we're wrong and that's okay, no matter how much we hate to admit it. Today I'm reflecting on being wrong, being a hypocrite, and contradicting myself. I also share a super embarrassing story of when I was super duper wrong.

Procrastination isn't always rooted in laziness or in lack of motivation. Oftentimes, procrastination is a way for us to avoid and evade sticky or negative emotions that the task in front of us brings up. I realized on Friday after hours of procrastinating that I was avoiding the task at hand because of fear of rejection, fear of overpromising, and a whole host of other anxieties. So rather than beating myself up, I felt my way through it and that's what I'm sharing in detail today!  And I repeat, self-awareness is gross, but also necessary.

I'm reflecting on this beautiful quote throughout today's episode: "Challenges are opportunities. Opportunities to say no, Opportunities to say yes. The ones you say yes to, no matter how scary, trust you are ready for them. Otherwise, they wouldn’t show up."

As I navigate a new season in my entrepreneurship and face new challenges, this quote feels like exactly what I needed today, so I hope it resonates with you too!

I am tired today and I'm realizing that as hard as I'm pushing to grow and scale and move forward, I am not all the way prepared. This episode is all about friends and filling our lives with people who believe in us, even when we start doubting ourselves. Entrepreneurship is lonely. Being a CEO or Solopreneur often feels like we are putting the world on our shoulders and going at it alone. But it's the friends and fellow business owners we meet along the way that fuel our engine and keep up going. At least, that's what's keeping me going.  So I appreciate you, friend. If you need a cheerleader and want to start a mutual relationship, don't hesitate to reach out.

We often set ourselves up for failure without even realizing it! We tell ourselves that every single day we will spend an hour on content, an hour at the gym, get drinks with girlfriends and still be in bed by 9pm.

It's not realistic unless you are a superwoman! So today I'm talking about planning for the average and how that could help you ride out the chaotic days to keep pushing toward your goals.

One of the first things early entrepreneurs hear is to get ready for a ton of rejection. Yet, no matter how much we prepare for it, the blow of hearing a no still hit hard. So today I want to talk openly about getting turned down and how we can see it as proof of progress and an opportunity to develop resilience.

Also, I'm tired of the phrase "when one door closes, another one opens" - where are these doors?
