Okay, you may be thinking, "What does Entrepreneurship have to do with Land Skills?"
I hear you.
If you are an Independent Contractor Landman, it has more to do with it than you may have thought.
You own your own business, you contract through Brokers and for Clients.
You need to manage your expenses, ideally, mostly to things that you can be reimbursed for or assign and recoup. You need to know your metrics and how to use them to manage your business, especially if you ever want to get beyond the grind of doing day-rate work and into the part of the industry where you build and sell prospects, lead other land professionals, or even producing your own wells and fields.
In this Author Call with Curtis Morley, Author of The Entrepreneur's Paradox, he talks about some of the challenges and pitfalls of being an entrepreneur. These are things that we all face in the oil & gas industry, whether y our own ignorance or that of those around us, and the better you can be prepared for them, the more you can be prepared to pivot when they show up.
