Robert Baker and Joseph St. John were raised in Newport News, VA during the 1970s. Living less than a mile apart and attending the same school, Willis A. Jenkins Elementary, Robert and Joe met in 3rd grade when Robert, who was known as Joey back then, moved to the neighborhood. As a matter of fact, they met the first day that Robert went to his new school, and they started a friendship that continues to this day.It was not a friendship that did not endure unbroken over time. After high school and multiple attempts at trying to be rock stars, they moved onto different life paths. Joe went on to join the Newport News Police Department and attained the rank of Captain and later Chief of the Columbus, MS Police Department. Robert would join the US Armed Forces and later become an attorney with his own law firm in Allegan, MI.During the pandemic, they reunited to discuss fitness and it turned into hours-long discussions on the culture of America. Often, these conversations turned in to “WTF America” and what is happening to our nation. We also discussed fitness, movies, music, and the life of individual Americans.Stand by and get ready to take the ride of your life as Two Avg. Joes tell it like it is: Unfiltered and Unapologetic.

Let’s go back to 1961, when a man from Niles, Michigan was convicted of raping a blind girl and robbing her boyfriend. This same man would walk out of prison on December 1967 on parole but free to roam Ann Arbor and the surrounding areas of southern Michigan. Yes, that’s right that was also during the same time as the Co-Ed murders of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. He later raped and killed a beautiful woman from Owosso Michigan in 1973, a mother and a wife. Then a year later, he ran into this woman. A true survivor, a fighter.
Two Average Joe’s brings you her story, in her own words, her fear but also her triumph.

Two Average Joes with Kevin King - What Happens When the Prison System Lies???
In our latest installment on Prison Reform, Kevin King tells of his 12-year ordeal in regard to his situation in the Michigan Department of Corrections. Would government officials try to set up an inmate just because the internee was trying to protect other prisoner’s constitutional rights? How far will an institute go to stop one man’s desire to protect his fellow inmates? Can a person even fight those odds?
Kevin King did. Listen to the story as Kevin details how prison officials fabricated his prison records and attempted to set him up for failure. Kevin had to maneuver through a web of deceit and lies to protect his rights. What happened at the end? King won.
With the help of the Baker Law Firm, Kevin prevailed. With the assistance of Attorney Robert Baker and Paralegal Kristle Goins, Kevin’s wife Cheryl King and Attorney Gregory Longworth, he was able to win his case and collect damages in his 1983 civil case. Why is it so hard to correct myth? In spite of facts, crimes can be committed and no one will be charged or held accountable.
In the case of Dawn Basom, who was murdered over 50 years ago, her case has never been solved. No one has ever been arrested and no one has ever been sent to jail. However, if you goggle her name, you would quickly see that she is considered to be one of victims of the 1960’s coed- murder, John Norman Collins.
Do we really know that? Is that true or do we just think that because she has always been listed as one of his murder victims. That is the question TCI is asking.
We ask that and why is it so hard to correct myth??

The Story of Two Average Joes
Robert Baker and Joseph St. John were raised in Newport News, VA during the 1970s. Living less than a mile apart and attending the same school, Willis A. Jenkins Elementary, Robert and Joe met in 3rd grade when Robert, who was known as Joey back then, moved to the neighborhood. As a matter of fact, they met the first day that Robert went to his new school, and they started a friendship that continues to this day.
