This week's episode we talk about the importance of communication in all of the relationships we have built in our special needs lives...and how important it is to building, keeping and repairing trust. Being a special needs parent is hard, we are continuously in a state of "fight mode" and turning that off can be impossible. The keys to success have continuously been tied to good communication about our children. Often our children can't communicate all of their thoughts or needs, so we as parents NEED the people in our children's lives to be a voice for them.

This episode we take a coffee break....literally...and talk about being more than an afterthought in the educational system. We WANT that educational experience that all the other kids get. We want to do the back to school nights...or the high school orientation.....especially when it comes to clubs, sports and extracurricular activities. We want our educators to know that making those opportunities to connect with their parents and special needs students make us feel like we belong. It helps us feel like we are part of their school instead of being an afterthought. It helps us to build trust, which in turn makes the entire educational system better for all of us. We call our parents to action and join their local organizations to help us become part of the overall culture, become part of the solution. It benefits ALL students for our students to be included. This podcast and especially this episode is unscripted, our goal is to be authentic and real as we discuss the twists and turns of our special needs journey. We are vocal, real, honest and hardly ever politically correct, which in turn means...you never know what kind of Chaos they are going to stir up.
