A curated set of Ariv's life experiences. Consists of insightful discussions with insightful people as well as impulsive bits of wisdom. Let's see what this podcast becomes, together :).
I stumbled across the Fargo Brothers at their gig at my local city fair. They were so electric, hilarious, and so well-harmonized that I had to hear more about their story. What follows is one of my favorite conversations ever, one that helped me break out of my writer's block and finally write music. Mike has lived a colorful life and has so much to share about the music industry, the songwriting process, and what following your passion truly means. Thank you, Mike, for your time, and please enjoy this conversation!

here you'll be updated on some of the highs.
if you want the lows, you'll find them here.
i didn't know if i wanted to put this up.
it didn't feel like it added much to the world.
then i remembered what the point of the podcast was in the first place.
i'm not a sage...
i'm learning too :)
A friend's words pushed a couple out of me.
A lot to take in.
I took it all in objectively.
But take it in the way you want to–I wonder what you'll learn.
indeed it will.
-
wisdom from Sam Harris
i did my best to paraphrase and build upon my insights–any lapse in judgement is mine.
As AWESOME as things are, I still make dumb decisions and freak out.
Made a couple after recording this one, but don't worry about it; we're chilling now :)
See you soon.
what are you reading the description for, listen and try!
jk... today we talk about empathy.
i know, it's annoying, but humongously helpful so we've gotta do it.
so give it a shot with me.
trust me, we'll make it through with our egos mostly intact ;).
GOOD QUESTION ARIV.
I'll start by explaining why I never did...
It. Was. Easy.
And that's the end of it.
But we've gotta hop out of that narrative.
We've got to start pushing ourselves.
Because if we don't how else will we get better?
Apparently it's true.
My week went like this...
My day was fast again.
Everything felt 2x.
Not normal, but fixable.
I learnt something yet again.
I was brainstorming for an essay.
It sounded so good I felt compelled to give it to you.
Without further ado, here it is.
GOD DANG I'M FEELING IT
I JUST HIT THE BACKBUTTON SO THE DESCRIPTION OF THIS DISAPPEARED SO HERE'S A NEW ONE.
I've been feeling "drained" after school lately.
But I just figured out I haven't been drained.
I've been over-filled.
Thanks to Mythri, Isha, Anmol, Charles, Ayushi, Mr. Seaton, Mr. Moore, Ms. Sekar, Mr. Sutton, and the rest of the people I talked to over the last couple days.
God dang.
looks like i just had to talk.
well hello again.
some more talk about this week's theme, happiness.
enjoy the fun with me :)

link to notion is here
link to more happiness is here
Recorded this for another podcast.
Thought it'd fit with you all.
To be honest, I haven't been recording much lately simple because I've been writing more.
It's been feeling more fun.
But do not worry, while this poddy is on sleep mode, you can stick with me here.
See you soon :)
I've been writing a lot lately.
Not speaking as much.
But I couldn't leave my true love for too long.
So here it is.
Thinking about originality and it's prominence is the subject of today :)
it's funny how I land in situation after situation after situation
situations that end up in overwhelming mental crazyness
i'm sure there's a reason to all the madness
i keep realizing it more than more
learning is learning
i'm gonna keep being open to it
I woke up thinking about this.
So please excuse my morning voice ;)
Now what are you doing reading this description, go listen to the episode!
I've learnt something the past couple of days.
This past week actually.
Here it is...
Days are long.
If you listen to yourself.
And relax in life.
-
here's the article I wrote
this is the podcast I've been meaning to do for a while.
i finally did it after reading an article about the crazy parenting in silicon valley.
it prompted me to sit down and record this because this concept is oh so important.
so let's talk about it.

it exists.
everywhere.
inside of us, outside of us, but most importantly...
in nature :)
join my journey at the Mesa Lane Steps @ Santa Barbara.
take in the world with me.
join me.
and at the end, join yourself and go on a journey outside.
you'll be surprised at the beauty you'll notice you never realized was there.

I'm obsessed with aesthetic.
That's why this podcast, which is about my 7.38 mile, is called 7.38, and is 7 mins and 38 seconds long.
So enjoy me rambling in excitement about my 7.38 mile, 3 minutes faster than my 10.38 one a year-and-a-half ago.
I love myself and this journey of running.
It's been incredible.

Well I gave most of the information for this podcast in my newly formed "intro" which I hope you liked :)
I've still gotta come up with some intro music... who knows if that'll ever happen.
But I thought about this thing yesterday and figured I'd share it with you all... at the cost of sleeping at 10:30 PM.
So please enjoy ;)
YOU THOUGHT RECORDING A PODCAST WAS EASY, DID YOU NOW
yeah it isn't actually that bad
this time, it seems my mind had other plans though
here's some special bts from the new podcast coming soon :)
PS: if you came here for BTS you'll get them eventually, don't worry. i'm kinda obsessed with them so a podcast on them is long overdue. unfortunately, this time you'll have to settle for me saying no to myself ;)
I've been working on my personal statement.
It hasn't been easy.
It's been fun though.
And I'm gonna get through it.
But I wanted to unpack a bit of how I was feeling.
So here we are :)
I promise you I'll find it.
If you're looking for some too, join me.
It's 9:04 and 23 seconds.
I'll head to bed.
I'll type less, and live more.
See you soon.
That title intrigued you huh.
It made you excited.
Curious.
Ready to launch a relentless hunt on Google until you find the solution, even?
Well... that's a rabbithole for ya.
And that's exactly what we're about to talk about today.
Because they suck.
And we need to stop falling into them.
We'd live much better lives without them.
At least, ones that are destructive!
Welcome to The Auditorial.
An Ariv Adventure.
I'll say less here, so you can listen to me say more when you click that play button :)
I know I'm verbose... I'm working on it.
But I've gotta tell you, I don't mind it.
So stick around, whether you're a 2x speed-er or a simple 1xer who prefers REAL PERSON AUDIO.
I love you all either way.
Thanks for coming along on this journey with me.
I appreciate you so so so much.
And don't forget to subscribe and rate me and give me ALL YOUR MON- I'm just kidding.
I'll see ya around :)
PS: This was the first recording of my redone intro. Since then, I came up with many different ideas on how to redo it, including making my intro a conversation about why intros are hard ;). As you can tell, I chose to not record them... the first recording, in my opinion, speaks volumes that any other version just can not do justice to.
Hi.
I never understood why artists of any kind named one of their works after themselves.
Now I do.
These five minutes your about to listen to are ones that many struggle to give themselves, myself included.
Listen to mine, but keep in mind yours.
Love yourself.
Because, after all, you are deserving of your love.
PS: This podcast is number 50. It's the number I set for myself before I'd publicly begin mentioning this podcast to people. The day has finally come. Am I a little bit nervous, nahhhh. I'm excited to give this to people, because it truly is me. So thank you Ariv, for the past, present, and future.
Learnt something pretty cool.
I've always been social.
We normally only see growth from the eyes of others, so seeing this was interesting!
Thank you Martial Arts I guess :)
That has been the question indeed.
For my AP tests, this question was all too difficult to answer.
But the answer that did come was the most simple that had ever graced my mental corridors...
Yes, take them.
Some thank yous are in order...
Thank you Anneka, for kicking my brain out of its negative phase.
Thank you Aditya and Karthik, for reminding me once again how it's not the score that matters, but it's the fun you have getting it that is.
I found a new obsession.
What more can I say ;)
Check me out here: https://photos.arivgupta.com
All I can say, though, is that it has been a pleasure being on Unsplash.
We should all find our own Unsplash for the things we love.
They supercharge our love for them exponentially.
I've been sleeping at 9 - 930 for the past could days.
Well... trying.
The days in which I do, holy heck my day becomes magical.
Here are my takeaways, and just what I do every morning.
Thought about this yesterday...
Why should I push down my true desires in favor of other things I perceive as "more important"?
Evidently, they're making me dislike the work I do even more.
So why not listen to myself?
At this point, it looks like I'll have to start listening.
It's the only thing which'll really get me to enjoy everything I do.
I'm back!
But not really...
AP tests have been bogging me down lately, to the point where I'm really feeling out of breath.
Talked to a friend today though, and realized that yet again, I don't need to take everything so seriously.
So here we are, the second realization of many :)
Yep, you may have guessed it.
I may or may not have procrastinated again.
This is getting tiring. But it seems necessary as a learning activity.
Enjoy my takeaways.
Hopefully you can apply them with me so we never end up in the same situation I did.
My mind has been out of whack lately.
So I just decided to write everything going on in my head down.
It really helped.
Give it a shot!
Because, why not!
We deserve to recognize our successes.
Feel proud about the work you do!
And not just the results, but the learnings—the failures and successes—that got you there.
PS: I have no idea why the mic quality was so bad, but I apologize.
And I have an AP test tomorrow and a Final the day after.
So the worst day to be doing so.
But I learnt a whole lot.
I hope you do too. :)
The moment this episode felt awkward to do, I knew I had to do it.
Goals like these are hard to share, but since I've been working on a morning routine, (I promised myself I'd only talk about it after a week :) I figured it made sense to do it.
I know I'll get a six pack, and I know you will too.
Take this six pack literally or metaphorically, but make sure to realize what we are striving for in this process of visualization.
Bringing our goals closer to reality with the power of our minds.
I just had to ask this question.
For those looking to get value out of their one minute, listen to another one of my podcasts :)
For those curious enough, give this one a listen ;)
I took an exam the other day, and I learnt something.
I might get a B.
And that freaked me the heck out.
So 24 hrs of self realization later, here's what I've learned.
Some thank yous are in order...
Thank you Andy and Natalie and Christy Pan and My Entire Tennis Family for taking me to the mall.
It helped me become a normal person again.
I wouldn't be here mentally without you :)
Our parents sacrifice(d) so much for us.
I know mine have.
We should take some time to respect them and the work they've put in to make us who we are.
Thank you mummy and thank you papa for making me me.
I thought about this today while giving a presentation.
Thought it felt shareable.
Enjoy :)
Selflessness is an easy concept to grasp.
But a hard one to implement.
Here's a story where I saw it in practice.
Thanks for this Charles :)
I love analogies, especially ones I make.
Here's one I came up with in a conversation yesterday.
I just can't get over its significance.
Life really is a road trip.
We influence its outcome.
And it all happens for a reason :)
Just had one of the longest conversation of my life. (over 2 hours!)
It rocked.
I wish I recorded it, but I'm sure there'll be more to come.
Here was a big takeaway I had.
Relationships have been a big theme the past couple of days, so thinking about them is just a given for me at this point.
Enjoy!
I've been having crazy experiences the past couple days.
This is the beginning of what I will call the "podcast-storm."
This experience I had was so ethereal and it really made me realize how important our relationships with our parents are.
Foster them!
It sucks.
I have had a lot of it.
Working on stopping.
Forgive me if I am angry...
I am.
IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
WE DON'T DESERVE IT.
Writing honestly is one of the greatest things ever to exist.
The ability to put something so eloquently as one can in writing is just wild.
I'm glad I discovered it.
AND I'M GLAD I GOT BACK INTO IT.
Here's what I wrote: https://studentsxstudents.com/me-31fd098beda9
I built this podcast out of traditional bounds as it was part of a school project aimed at getting insight into the world of post-educative experiences.
I had a blast putting it all together and found it all to beneficial that it had to be included here.
It's also a nice way for me to never forget it!
Enjoy!
Thank you for the incredible conversation Nipun (Uncle) Agarwal.
Credit for the title of the podcast all goes to you :)
I recorded this on impulse.
It's short but sweet.
I'll even call it a short :)
I thought about this aspect of taking breaks for a bit yesterday, and came to the conclusion in the episode.
When I skip them, things don't go as planned.
So take them!
I am lucky to know great people, and one of these great people is Anmol Bhide.
After a conversation we had, I realized I've been overthinking things a ton.
Life isn't meant to be overthought, rather eased in to.
Life should be fun, not pressure-ful.
Life should be nice.
And it's okay to laugh at yourself a little in the process.
Don't take yourself too seriously, that's when the results are the best.
Thank you for this Anmol :)
This one's a doozy.
I never knew when I'd talk about this, because it's so close to me.
And I'm still second guessing myself before putting it out.
But this is the type of stuff that is important.
I mean impressions are so powerful.
They can do so much to your life trajectory.
Welcome to an impulsive random bit that I created after taking a personality test at school.
Take the test with me and explore my answers!
Personality tests are pretty great :)
Recently I have not been working.
I've just not been able to get up and get stuff done.
There is so much to do but I just can't do it.
But I've come to the realization that honestly speaking, work isn't done in a linear fashion.
Work isn't even done in an exponential fashion.
Work is done in a self-fashion.
Everyone works differently, but the modicum of work which they all consider valuable has two key attributes.
We work not just smartly, but hardly.
Inspirations...

This is a different podcast episode.
It is meant for the sole purpose of thanking the people I'm close to.
The people who have literally created me.
Without them, there is no me.
So thank you.
I often feel a bit apprehensive when doing these things.
I worry about how you'd feel. Whether you'd find it awkward. Weird. Odd
But this is just too important to be left unsaid.
To the people who have shaped me, created me, and built me...
I treasure you.
For every little beautiful moment we have.
For every sucky moment we have.
It all builds character.
And I've been lucky enough that it built mine.
The contribution you've made to my life is invaluable.
I have love for you.
MUSIC ROCKS
Regardless of who we are, we love music to some degree.
It unites us and makes up a lot of who we are.
I've included a small bit of my interests in music here, but I hope to get into a more in depth story about my musical journey some other time ;)
Once a huge event happens in life, how do you get back on track?
I've often had this issue.
A big event I hold immense importance to suddenly happens, and I struggle to get back to the rhythm I was in a couple weeks prior to the event.
Oftentimes this sucks and leads to a lot of wastage of time on my part, but it also leads to some chance moments of personal growth.
Here is one of these such moments.
Topics: why we use the past to influence our future, the negative loop of a pessimistic workflow, and why listen to people you admire.
Here's the podcast I was talking about in the 3rd topic I listed above...
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tim-ferriss-show/id863897795?i=1000514364656
It's long, but so eye opening.
I've been doing a lot of things lately, and in doing so have found out that life really does not need to be all that mundane.
Life should be exciting, and nothing mundane can't be made so.
And if you find yourself recurringly feeling unhappy with what you've been up to, then take a pause.
Dive into the root cause of your pain.
Avoiding it only leads to more unhappiness.
So be happy... after all, life runs for you, not against you.
While it seems impossible to get rid of fear, there are ways to lessen it.
This episode won't dive too much into the process, but rather its goal is to get you to conceptually understand the importance of facing your fears.
That is, in itself, the only way to mitigate fear.
I've been hiking a lot lately.
Often when I call my friends to join me, they're hesitant as they generally have never met the other people I take with me.
What we often don't realize, though, is how easy it is to connect with people.
It's one of humanity's specialties.
All of us take tests.
Tests of life, tests that people give us, and just challenging things in general.
But we often feel very mentally sporadic when doing so.
We put in a lot of work to get where we are, and rightfully so, we are nervous and apprehensive if our work will pay off.
So here's my story on how important having mental balance was for me in a test I've been worrying about all month.
We often, when asked about what we find important, always have great answers.
But we leave one thing out... OUR BODY
It is the most important thing in our possession and to make it to where we want to be we need it to be in good shape and health.
So we gotta listen to it.
I had a terrible tennis match today and was mentally defeated.
I didn't want to make today as unproductive as yesterday so I made the choice to make a change.
Here is the result of that choice.
Did a ton of things today that required me to talk.
I loved all of these experiences and adventures because I had great "auditorial" (pun intended) experience.
Recording a video made me realize how important being able to speak really is.
Knowing when and how to talk seems superficial, but it really isn't.
Throw yourself into things that will make you talk.
It will all be worth it.
I've always grappled with this thought.
The question of "can I make success consistent?"
Of course the simple answer is no.
But we all wish it was a yes.
I came across a poem by Rupi Kaur today that sparked this thought back inside of me.
Here it is... (if you're not a reader, I say it too :)
little poet
it seems like the more words you write
the more you think
it is you writing them
why do you think you're in control
didn't the words come spilling
out of you the first time
pouring without permission
and now you're trying to
make them work for you
but magic doesn't move like that
your rushing is
suffocating the masterpieces
baking inside you
your job is to
show up for the process
be patient and when it's time
the universe will use you again
inspiration - rupi kaur
If you know me, you know this.
If you don't, you're about to find this out.
I love running.
I love every single thing about it.
In this little clip, I go over an experience I had when running a 5k and how running as a whole has shaped me.
Check out my article on it for a deeper perspective...

They're not.
I think at the end of the day we've gotta believe in our potential.
Stop comparing yourself to the people around you.
You are too unique to be compared.
Here's something I was thinking about last night.
Why is there such a negative stigma around doing a ton of things?
Sure it might lead to lack of direction, but here's the thing...
Not everyone has direction.
Not everyone knows who they want to be.
People deserve to try.
And they should be able to try what they want and explore what they want.
Many of us find our true love through a series of, as Bob Ross calls them, "happy accidents".
It's up to society to be comfortable with us fostering them.
And if society isn't, who's gonna stop you.
Live the life you're interested in living.
Whether that's through specialization or generalization, do what makes you happy.
Why do we lie?
WHYYYYY!
I might sound whiny, but that's because I am.
This shouldn't be a normal thing.
We need to foster a space where people can feel comfortable with flat out saying they don't feel comfortable sharing information.
We need to not lie.
Lying has the potential to mess up our future.
Telling the truth will not, and it'll save you from a bigger mess than could exist.
You know what it is, I'm back with another late night impulsive podcast ;)
This time it's on freeing yourself.
Feeling free is so important.
Often we never have time to disconnect.
Visit places you love and let your heart run wild.
Do what you feel like, but don't bother thinking.
Save that for another time :)
Got back from a speech performance.
Felt uncertain.
But it doesn't matter!
There's no reason to think you're not enough in the eyes of the person in front of you until they say it to your face.
And if they do...
NEVER stop loving yourself.
Stay confident, always.
I've had a weird couple weeks.
Couldn't leave it all in my head, so figured I'd throw it out here.
I've noticed one trend in these weeks, and that is sleep.
You've gotta get it.
And you can't just get it, you've gotta really get it.
Sleep! It's worth every minute.
Just came back from an incredible talk with a teacher at school.
Learned a ton about all things acceptance.
Accepting who you are. Accepting who you make yourself. Accepting success. Accepting happiness. Accepting life in general.
Enjoy the journey with me :)
Humans worry!
It's perfectly normal... but should it be?
How can we push past this boundary of worry and dread at the thought of an event happening?
I. have. absolutely. no. idea. :(
But let's figure it out together ;)
Welcome to the "Pilot" episode of The Auditorial, a podcast where I note down my life experiences and events in hopes of looking back at them and remembering the times I had as "young me."
Join me on this journey and let's grow together :)
