In this episode we chat with Celia Gaze owner and founder of Lancashires - The Wellbeing Farm a certified B Corp venue and an all round fantastic venue for corporate functions, weddings or just chatting to the Llamas! Celia is passionate about sustainability and has been on a journey for over a decade to embed great practices including upcycling, community engagement, environmental management and more at the venue. Celia discusses her journey to date and how achieving the B Corp status helped her to define the carbon footprint for the venue and explore additional options for future renewable technologies on site. Today we will discuss the five steps that any business can take to ensure an accurate and credible production of a carbon footprint. These include defining your methodology; specifying your scope and boundaries; collecting the emissions data and calculating the footprint; verification of the results and finally publishing your results. We refer to the common conversion factors used and DEFRA Greenhouse Gas Excel toolkit and other similar conversion factor calculators available to use. We look at producing a simple carbon footprint using your mileage and utility data, then move onto more complex footprints using Scope 1, 2 and 3 as defined by the GHG Protocol. We refer to UK legislation such as ESOS and SECR Regulations for mandatory reporting of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions as part of annual reporting.
