If you're anything like me, I'm always looking for ways to improve myself on a daily basis. While goals for the year can feel daunting, I still like to coin one or two key words to focus on, especially during the days that feel difficult.
This year, my focus is on 'COMMIT' and 'COMMUNITY'.
Starting a task or goal is one thing, but actually COMMITTING to it is another. Finishing that book you started months, committing to the side hustle every week vs only when it's convenient for you.
Community is SOOOOO incredibly important to me, to feel like you BELONG, to feel SEEN, to feel HEARD, to feel like you aren't ALONE. I want to bring more community to the forefront of the podcast for 2023 and would LOVE for you to join!
P.S. - Fair warning! I recorded the episode in Tampa, Florida WITHOUT my Blue Yeti mic, so the audio/acoustics aren't as great as normal...thank you for your patience in advance!

"What resolution are you doing in the new year?" ...is a question many of us get asked this time of year as the new year rolls around. While resolutions are great and all, a large percentage of them get tossed to the wayside for lack of follow through and committment.
But what if we flipped the script and rewired our brains to instead ask ourselves "What am I NOT doing in the new year?" Would it feel more aligned? Would it feel like there's less pressure on achieving the end goal? What seems like such a simple switch for one might be the game-changer for another.

I had an eventful weekend as I hosted a non-surprise surprise bday party for my mom on a Friday, then had a bridal shower and bachelorette party Saturday.
Today's episode discusses scheduling time with your friend tribe. (And/or family) As adults, it's SOOOO easy to use the "I'm busy" card, (I'm guilty of this!) when in reality it's probably a LOT easier to keep that friendship flame lit than you think, whether it's sending a quick text or SnapChat video or going on a coffee date or out for an acai bowl. (OMGOSH yum!) Because as much as we literally ARE busy with raising kids and attending activities and working on our career or health, etc. we typically know deep down we could put forth a little more effort to stay in touch with those closeset to us.

In today's episode, I want you to start asking yourself if you've been wasting energy thinking of all the things that could go WRONG in life, when you could instead be focusing your energy on what could go RIGHT.
WHAT IF the conversation you were scared to have with your boss went well and you got the promotion? WHAT IF the friend/family member who was recently diagnosed with cancer received the BEST POSSIBLE news from doctors and the outcome is MUCH BETTER than expected? WHAT IF the side hustle or business that's been on your heart goes EXTREMELY WELL and you recieve MORE customers and revenue that you expected?
You see, sometimes we tell ourselves a narrative that doesn't actually exist, which, in turn, prevents us from taking action and going after the things that light us up. Michael Jordan said it best, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
OPINIONS WANTED! I am currently taking Kacia Ghetmiri's Amplified podcasting course and in process of creating an online course offering for the Light Your Fire podcast. Today's episode is a bit juicy as I share feelings in REAL TIME about recently quitting my corporate job and how it took immense COURAGE and BLIND BELIEF to get out of my comfort zone and freakin GO FOR IT!
When we're at a crossroads faced with difficult decisions, FEAR can hold us back from attempting new opportunities. Massive GROWTH = taking massive LEAPS outside our comfort zone. Ask yourself: how would the pain of REGRET of NOT TRYING feel? How would the pain of being in the EXACT same spot one year from now feel? (If you are striving for a different outcome one year from now.)

I also share some REAL TALK about a difficult conversation I had with a customer recently and how no matter what you SAY or what you DO, it's NEVER going to be good enough for certain people. And just know 1) It's NOT ok for hurt people to hurt people, and 2) As difficult as it can be, you CAN'T take it personally. Moving on from negativity will help open up space for the positive things in your life.

This week's episode discusses scheduling JOY into your life to steadily fill your cup and help you become the healthier, happier, more present person you were meant to be. Cuz let's be real, being a mom/significant other/friend can get CRAZY BUSY, but actually taking time to enjoy the LITTLE MOMENTS can be the boost of dopamine or serotonin you need to get you through the day, week, month or year.
The more you work your 'Joy' muscle, the more GRATEFUL you become, enjoying the LITTLE THINGS, and eventually, the HAPPIER you'll be where happiness is no longer the exception but the RULE.
HOMEWORK:I CHALLENGE you to seek the tiniest moments of joy, even if it only consists of sitting on your back patio for 5-10 minutes taking in a beautiful sunset with your significant other. After discovering those activities, write them down and hold on to them close! You never know when you'll need to revisit that list when you're having a downer day and need a quick pick-me-up.
RESOURCES:
In this week's episode, my goal is to get you thinking about the other hats you COULD wear beyond just being a Mom. Sure, being a mom is IMPORTANT and consumes a majority of the 24 hours we spend each day but wouldn't life feel more FULFILLING if you wore other hats that you were also PASSIONATE about?
Even if you don't really know what your passions are right now, take note of things that spark JOY and HAPPINESS for you and go from there. Yes, sometimes you have to throw the spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks, but, hey, wouldn't you rather at least TRY something out vs getting to the end of the your life with the unfortunate feeling of REGRET of NOT trying?

Today's episode discusses the little moments when we start DOUBTING ourselves and thinking "What if the grass is greener ______?" We chat about second guessing ourselves when it comes to our job, starting the side hustle, or heck, maybe even doubting ourselves in bed! (That's a JUICY topic for another day! ;) )
In the moments we find ourselves second guessing aspects of our life, I'd CHALLENGE YOU to sit in that feeling for a second longer and consider if the grass would ACTUALLY be greener on the other side and whether quitting the thing and starting over from scratch is ACTUALLY worth it.
While starting over takes a LOT of work and energy you might not have, watering the grass that's already in front of you might not take as much tending to as you'd think. Maybe instead of dreaming about all the "What if's?" you started asking yourself "What can I do NOW in my CURRENT situation to make things BETTER?"

In this week's FIERY episode, I reflect on the 1 year anniversary of my husband's Testicular Cancer diagnosis and how there is ALWAYS light at the end of the tunnel, regardless what difficult season you may be experiencing right now.
When it comes to your health, it's easy to get into ANALYSIS PARALYSIS overthinking ways to get back into shape or which fad diet or detox to check out. Rather than spending HOURS 'researching' information, put that time into ACTION by squeezing in a quick 20-30 minute workout, or throwing a few extra fruits & veggies in your shopping cart the next time you're at the grocery store.
We aren't promised tomorrow, so take even a LITTLE action TODAY to get you closer to your health goals. Remember, messy consistency is SOOOOO much greater than inconsistent perfection. You've got this, girl!
