It's a term we might have heard, but it's a sin that is more rampant in our churches than we might like to admit. Legalism is, in essence, the elevation of rules and human standards to a level where they supersede God's grace. It's when we think our walk with God is about ticking off boxes and following rules rather than living in a relationship with Him.**

Today’s lesson is from 1 Peter 2:13-17. This passage reads:
"Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority: whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves. Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor."
In our current climate, with the political atmosphere being highly charged, it's so easy to become emotionally involved and often feel the urge to rebel against the authorities. We see protests, disagreements, and often civil unrest. But what does the Bible instruct us?
Well, welcome back brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ. God is good all the time! His mercies are new every day! And we should never forget that because our sins are new every day and we need his mercy every day. Let’s remember the unbelievable sacrifice made by God to take on flesh and provide the payment for sin that only he could make.

Today, we are diving into Isaiah 55, specifically verses 10-11. Let’s read it together:
"For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it."
What an incredible promise! Just like how rain nourishes the earth, bringing life and growth, God's Word fulfills its intended purpose. The Lord's words are powerful and meaningful. When He speaks, it brings life, transformation, and a sense of purpose to our lives.

Wally: "In this passage, James poses a profound question, 'What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds?' James is taking us on a journey, examining the very nature of true, authentic faith. What does it look like? How does it behave?"

Good morning, and welcome to another episode of Minutes with Jesus in the Morning. I'm your host, Wally, and today's message is taken from Mark 10:2-9
Today we are going to take a journey through a passage where Jesus speaks on a topic that remains relevant and sometimes controversial – marriage and gender. In Mark 10:2-9, we find the Pharisees attempting to trap Jesus with a question on divorce. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"
But instead of giving them a straightforward answer, Jesus takes them, and us, deeper into the heart of God's design. He asks them what Moses commanded, and after hearing their reply, He says, "But from the beginning of creation, 'God made them male and female.' 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate."
Let's unpack that, shall we?

Today, we're going to explore the wonderful story found in Mark 5:18-20. In this passage, we discover a man filled with profound gratitude for the healing he received from Jesus. The man had been possessed by multiple demons and Jesus removed them from him.
This man, once tormented by demons, was completely restored, and his response was a desire to stay with Jesus and follow Him wherever He went.
But Jesus, in His wisdom, had a different plan. He instructed the man to go and tell others how much the Lord had done for him, and how He had compassion on him. This isn't just a historical event; it's a powerful lesson for all believers today.
Good morning friends and welcome to another episode of Minutes with Jesus in the Morning. I'm Wally and I want to say Happy Wednesday to you all. My prayer is that your day will be filled with the comfort that comes from knowing that your Savior Jesus Christ, loves you and wants you to become more like him every day.
Today we are going to consider the profound teachings found in Romans Chapter 1, verses 18 to 20. As many of you know, the Epistle to the Romans is considered one of the most theologically rich letters of the New Testament, and it's my pleasure to explore it with you today.
Today's episode is entitled Speaking to the Rock and if you're like me, you may remember the story of Moses striking the rock as Moses taking glory for himself as though Moses produced the water. But the issue was Moses did not do what God told him to do.
The context of our scripture today finds the Israelites in the wilderness of Zin. They are thirsty and, as was their tendency, they began to complain to Moses and Aaron. In response, Moses and Aaron turn to the Lord, who gives them specific instructions.
Let's read today's text and see what happened. Numbers 20:7-13"

GOD’S WORD INFORMS US ABOUT EVERYTHING. HOW WE GOT HERE, HOW WE NEED TO LIVE IN ORDER TO PLEASE HIM AND WHERE WE ARE GOING WHEN WE DIE. THESE ARE GLORIOUS TRUTHS AND WE NEED TO SHARE THEM WITH EVERYONE WE KNOW.
THAT IS THE FOCUS OF OUR END OF THE WEEK TEXT: ROMANS 1:16-17. ROMANS IS AN INCREDIBLE BOOK THAT IS PACKED FULL OF DOCTRINE BUT ALSO PACKED FULL OF HOPE. IN IT WE FIND THE THINGS THAT PLEASE GOD, HOW GOD VIEWS BELIEVERS AND UNBELIEVERS, WHO IS SALVATION FOR, WHAT AWAITS THE PEOPLE WHO REFUSE TO BELIEVE, AND SO MUCH MORE. Psalm 1
WELCOME FRIENDS!
TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL TAKES US TO ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR SONG BOOKS IN THE WORLD, THE BOOK OF PSALMS. SPECIFICALLY, TO PSALM 1. THERE ARE 150 PSALMS IN THIS BOOK AND THEY CONTAIN SONGS OF PRAISE AND JOY AS WELL AS SADNESS AND LAMENTS. BUT THEY ARE ALL INSPIRED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THEREFORE GIVEN TO US FOR EDIFICATION, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND THAT WE MAY KNOW THE TRUTH.
PSALM 1 , LIKE MANY OF THE PSALMS, IS A TWO PART MESSAGE. ONE HALF TALKS ABOUT THE BLESSINGS OF THE MAN THAT FOLLOWS GOD AND THE OTHER HALF TALKS ABOUT THE MAN THAT DOES NOT FOLLOW THE LORD.
EVEN BIGGER THAN THAT, THIS PSALM SETS THE TONE FOR THE ENTIRE BIBLE BECAUSE THE TOPIC COVERS THE ULTIMATE PATH OF MANKIND (MEN AND WOMEN). LET’S READ TODAYS TEXT – PSALM 1.
Jeremiah 31: 31FF

WE WILL CONTINUE IN THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH FOR TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL AND WE’LL BE LOOKING AT ONE OF THE MOST GLORIOUS PASSAGES IN THE OLD TESTAMENT: JER 31:31-34.
THE PROMISE OF THE COMING MESSIAH, JESUS CHRIST. THOUGH THIS IS ONE OF THE MORE EXPLICIT TEXTS ABOUT JESUS, THERE ARE MANY. MANY OTHERS. INFACT, WE GET OUR GLIMPSE OF HIS COMING IN THE BOOK OF GENESIS 3:14-15:
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
IN REFERRING TO SEEDS, GOD IS SPEAKING OF THE OFFSPRING OF BOTH. SATAN’S OFFSPRING ARE LIARS AND ANTI-CHRISTS. ADAM AND EVE’S OFFSPRING WILL EVENTUALLY BRING THE MESSIAH, JESUS CHRIST.
Jeremiah 29:4-14

TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL WILL TAKE US BACK TO THE OLD TESTAMENT IN THE BOOK OF JEREMIAH. HE WAS FROM A TOWN CALLED ANATHOTH, WHICH IS MODERN DAY ANATA. IT IS A PALESTINIAN TOWN LOCATED IN THE WEST BANK OF JERUSALEM.
TODAYS TEXT WAS A WORD OF ENCOURGAEMENT FOR THE EXILES THAT WERE CARRIED OFF TO BABYLON IN 597 BC. SOME FLASE PROPHETS WERE TELLING THE PEOPLE THAT THEIR TIME IN BABYLON WOULD BE SHORT, MAYBE ONLY A FEW YEARS. GOD TELLS JEREMIAH TO TELL THE PEOPLE, YOU WILL BE THERE A LONG TIME BECAUSE GOD HAD SENT THEM THERE AS PUNISHMENT.
BUT EVEN IN THEIR PUNISHMENT, GOD SHOWS THEM MERCY. LET’S READ THE TEXT

TODAY WE FIND THE APOSTLE PAUL IN THE TOWN OF MILETUS WHERE HE HAS JUST ARRIVED FROM SAMOS. HE HAD DECIDED TO SAIL PAST EPHESUS SO HE MIGHT REACH JERUSALEM IN TIME FOR PENTECOST. BUT STILL WANTING TO SEE THE LEADERS OF THE CHURCH THERE, PAUL CALLED THE ELDERS FROM EPHESUS TO HIMSELF TO ENCOURAGE THEM TO REMAIN FAITHFUL TO THE GOSPEL, REGARDLESS OF WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES YOU MIGHT FACE, AND THAT HE EXPECTED HE WOULD NOT SEE THEM AGAIN BASED ON WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS INDICATING TO HIM. AND WE CAN’T BE SURE, BUT HE MAY NOT HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO THEM BEFORE HE WAS FINALLY EXECUTED. BUT I WANT US TO SEE TODAY, IS HOW PAUL HAD DETERMINED IN HIS MIND, THAT HE WOULD MOVE FORWARD WITH THE CALLING THE LORD, HIS MASTER, HAD PLACED ON HIM, AND WOULD NOT LET PERSECUTION DETER HIM.
ACTS 20:18-27
