IMSA went to Road America where they held their first 6 hour endurance race there. The racing was good but came with some controversy. A lot of cautions mainly due to the LMP2s and with some inconsistencies on rulings from race control lead to on track battles overheating on track leading to a very hard ending for two drivers and teams. Wayne Taylor Racing took the victory in the end for GTP which is a great result for them as this Cadillac has been eluding them lately compared to the Whelan Cadillac team. Pfaff in the new Lamborghini Temerario took the win in GTD Pro giving the Temerario its first international endurance racing victory!

Coming up this weekend: IndyCar is at Portland, NASCAR is in Iowa, BTCC is at Knockhill, Super Formula is at Sugo, and MotoGP is at Silverstone.

The bad luck just keeps on going for George Russell as his woes continue to favor Kimi Antonelli in the championship with a very level headed performance that gave him a 3rd place finish in Hungary. Neither Mercedes driver was a match for the pace of the McLarens ultimately in the end as Lando and Oscar were leading out in front as 1-2 for majority of the race until Oscar's gearbox gave out leading to a retirement from the race. Lando finished 1st and became the 5th different winner this year! Max Verstappen completed the podium with a hard fought 2nd place in a car that definitely was not 2nd fastest. Aston Martin had a promising weekend as they saw some of the benefits of the upgrades brought to the car. With this improvement and Honda's expected updates coming onboard for Zandvoort, I don't think its too far fetched to say they might have good opportunities to get some points potentially in the second half of the season.

IndyCar unveiled its new IR28 this week which will be 100 lbs lighter than the current car that includes a lighter gearbox and chassis. It is expected to output 760-800hp from the 2.4L V6 turbo engines which include a hybrid system that appears to play a larger role than what it currently does..

Heim wins the Brickyard 400 in Cup.

Coming up this weekend: IMSA is Road America, SuperGT is at Fuji, and Supercars are in Perth.

Kimi Antonelli rebounds with a win at Spa to eek out his championship lead gap especially after a DNF from George Russell who suffered a battery output mishap on Lap 1. We don't spend too much time on this subject but do highlight the criticisms around the current state of F1 that were on full blast this weekend with the downsides of the current regulations being exposed with the layout of Spa.

Alex Palou does it again and pulls a win out of nowhere at Nashville after dominant Penske performances by Malukas and McLaughlin for most of the race. Fortunate timings of mid-race cautions allowed Palou to jump up front and then he was able to hold off not one, not two, but three Penske cars in the final stint of the race. Palou extends his championship lead over Malukas as they enter a week break before the start of the gauntlet begins out west at Portland.

We touch on IMSA at Mosport and WEC at Interlagos as we were away last week to review them.

Logano wins at North Wilkesboro in Cup.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at the Brickyard and F1 is at Hungary.

Charles LeClerc is back on top after a win at Silverstone as both Mercedes run into issues that hinder their chances at the win. George Russell has a bit of luck at the end of the race to crawl back to 2nd place with Lewis Hamilton rounding out the podium. Mechanical failures for Max and Kimi leave them with zero points after what was looking to be a good finish for both of them with their respective car performances.

Pato O'Ward is also back on top after a long and hot caution-free race at Mid-Ohio. One mistake cost Christian Lungaard the win which let Pato through but otherwise it was a great performance by both him and Pato as they give McLaren their first 1-2 finish in IndyCar. McLaren top the weekend off with Siegel getting a top 10 finish which puts all three cars in the top 10! The big news, which was confirmed on Monday and also involves McLaren, is that their driver lineup for next year will be O'Ward, Dixon, and Rosenqvist. This means that Lungaard is out of a ride for now after being the leading McLaren driver for this 2026 season. Only time will tell if this shake up is the right call.

Briscoe wins at Chicagoland in Cup.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Atlanta, WEC is in Brazil, IMSA is at Mosport, and MotoGP is in Germany.

It seemed that everyone in endurance racing was a little too excited to go racing as the full course caution seemed to be deployed almost right after the green flag was thrown. Through the madness there was good racing such as the GTP battle at Watkins Glen which eventually saw the Whelen Cadillac take the overall win with Acura in 2nd and JDC Porsche in 3rd. For the Spa 24 hour race it was Lionspeed GP in their Porsche GT3 that took the overall win after starting 66th from the pit lane! This is the lowest starting position to win the race in its history.

Formula 1 took to the hills of Austria and yes there were some side by side battles but it was a very interesting strategy race which saw mainly a battle of the two stop strategy with offsetting the laps to have fresher tires at the end. This resulted in the top 3 finishing within 2 seconds of one another!

Shockingly SVG wins at Sonoma in Cup.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Chicagoland, IndyCar is at Mid-Ohio, and Formula 1 is at Silverstone.

Corey Heim took the win in San Diego for the Cup series. There were a lot of cautions took place this weekend which included some that wrecked a good portion of the field and even moved the barriers. Highlight of the weekend was the scuffle between Jean Gerard and Ricky Bobby....I mean Kevin Magnussen and Noah Gragson.

IndyCar took to Road America for an exciting race that had some timely cautions which helped mix up the field based on different strategies. In the end, it was Christian Lundgaard who came out on top after impressively battling his way back to the front after being dead last at the end of lap 1. Palou continues to lead the championship after a measly 5th place finish here.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Sonoma, the Spa 24 Hours, IMSA is at the Glen, and F1 is in Austria.

Lewis Hamilton remembers who he is and takes his first win for Ferrari! Although Kimi Antonelli DNF'd, he still seems to have the psychological advantage over George Russell as he caught and passed him just before retiring from the race.

Toyota take a hard fought win at Le Mans after Ferrari had dominated the past three years. Cadillac and BMW gave it their all but they came up just short. An impressive 7 Hypercars finished on the lead lap after 24 hours which show just how incredibly reliable this field has become! Inter Europol took a 1-2 finish in the LMP2 class and TF Sport with Ben Keating at the helm took the win in LMGT3.

Denny Hamlin took the win in Pocono for the Cup series.

Elbows were out in Detroit this past weekend as just about everyone was beatin and bangin! In the end, Alex Palou came out on top once again where he continues to extend his championship lead. Denny Hamlin gets his 61st NASCAR Cup Series win at Vegas.

Indycar once again shines as the race of the weekend where there was strategy and hard side by side racing at a big shiny new venue, Arlington, Texas! Alex Palou took on the Andretti fleet this past weekend where he came up just short only to Kyle Kirkwood. A bold strategy put Will Power on the final podium spot and Marcus Ericsson finished 4th for Andretti after starting on the pole but had some misfortunes in pit lane.

Formula 1 had it's 2nd race of the season. Kimi Antonelli gets his first F1 victory! Everyone is very happy for Kimi! However, this happiness is still overshadowed a bit by comments of many drivers that current F1 racing is like Mariokart. The drivers at the front are ok with the rules for now because they are winning after all but there is valid scrutiny about the form/type of racing we're seeing that the new rules/regulations have provided.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Darlington, IMSA is at Sebring, and Max Verstappen heads to Germany to take part in NLS (the Nordschleife racing series).

Ryan Blaney breaks Reddick's win streak as he takes to victory lane for NASCAR at Phoenix.

Indycar has a great race at Phoenix with a great performance by Christian Rassmussen that came up short in the end. Josef Newgarden was able to capitalize as the race came to a close and take the win which defended his last race win here back in 2018.

Formula 1 opened its season up in Australia and the reviews are....mixed. With what appeared to be an "entertaining" race was also met with a lot of skepticism of how this racing is being achieved. In a series/sport where one data point can't determine a trend, luckily we have round 2 in China this upcoming weekend to see if Australia was a fluke or representative of a season to come.

Verstappen is keeping the drive for five alive! After a clean sweep at COTA, he's cut his points deficit to Piastri to just 40 points. With five races remaining (two of which are sprint weekends) there's still plenty of time for this comeback to happen. Having said this, the McLaren pair are only separated by 14 points now and the drama of Papaya Rules come under scrutiny again after a coming together that resulted in a double DNF for them during the sprint race.

Supercars had its Great Race over the weekend and it was indeed a great race. The Bathurst 1000 provided some excellent entertainment with many battles that occurred over the mountain. There was a kangaroo sighting...and near miss....as well as a driver-fan interaction that made the rounds on the socials.

IMSA had its season finale at Road Atlanta for the Petit Le Mans. An epic 10 hour showdown that had some thrilling strategies play out towards the end of the race that resulted in the Whelan Cadillac taking top honors in GTP. The Aston Martin Valkyrie had an impressive outing finishing 2nd and some of the fastest laps of the race in the final hours. Great progress for that car and team! Penske Porsche finished 3rd in GTP and that was enough to secure them the GTP championship. SVG dominates at the Charlotte Roval in NASCAR this past weekend. SVG takes a clean sweep of all road course races in this year. If he is able to win the next road course race next year, then he will break Jeff Gordon's consecutive road course win streak which SVG is tied with at 6.

F1 sweated it out in Singapore this past weekend where George Russell took the win in what looked like a comfortable win even with Verstappen in his mirrors for a portion of the race. Speaking of Max, he has now had three races in a row where he's out-scored the McLaren duo which is keeping this championship miracle alive. F1 has a weekend off before they begin the Americas tour over the next 30 days.

We cover some big news in the sportscar world as Porsche announces their departure from WEC's Hypercar class for next year which means there will most likely be no Porsche 963 contending for the overall victory at Le Mans next year or for the foreseeable future for that matter....in some good news, IMSA's Petit Le Mans is this weekend so there is still plenty of sportscar racing action to watch!

Chase Elliot wins at Kansas to move on to the next round of the playoffs in NASCAR.

WEC went to Fuji for it's penultimate round and what a round it was! The BOP made for a very interesting race where there was plenty of passing going on in addition to the strategies that played out with the timing of certain cautions. Alpine walked away with their first win of the season and first win in Hypercar! Peugeot finished 2nd which was their best result in the Hypercar era. Corvette took the win in GT3 after the Vista AF Corse Ferrari finished with a 5s penalty demoting it from the win for the second race in a row.

Max Verstappen made headlines once again this past weekend but not for winning another F1 race. No, this time he won in a Ferrari 296 GT3 around the Nordschliefe in NLS! Although the field wasn't too deep in strength it was still a very impressive performance regardless.

SRO International had it's return to Suzuka for the Suzuka 1000km. This is a GT3 only race which had 7 different manufacturers take part in this race including the old Nissan GT-R and Callaway Corvette C7. However, it was BMW and Team WRT with Kelvin Van der Linde and Raffaele Marciello who were victorious in a race that came up just 13km shy of 1000km due to some on track incidents. The race is either 1000km or 6h30m long.

We also discuss IndyCar's 2026 calendar along with a quick preview of F1 this upcoming week in Baku.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Bristol, F1 is at Baku, and IMSA is at the Brickyard for the Indy 6 hours.

Denny Hamlin takes the win at Gateway. He locks himself into the next round of the playoffs.

WEC had its Lone Star Le Mans weekend at COTA and it was a wet one! Multiple drivers were going off and it tested and pushed everyone to their limits. The end of the race came down to a tire strategy of whether to go onto dry tires or stick with the wets. In Hypercar, Porsche won the race while staying on wets for the entirety. In GT3, McLaren took the win while switching to dry tires.

F1 went to the temple of speed this past weekend, Monza, where Verstappen dominated Qualifying and the Race. The talk of the race though was a message delivered from the McLaren pit wall to instruct Piastri to "let Lando by". We discuss the situation and give our thoughts on McLaren's handling of their drivers during not only this race but this season.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Bristol, Supercars at The Bend, and MotoGP is in Misano.

F1 is back from its summer break and McLaren is still dominant! However, a mechanical failure leads to Norris retiring which is a big swing in the championship towards Piastri's favor as he now has a grand prix weekend's worth of points ahead of Norris.

IndyCar wrapped its season up this Labor Day weekend in Nashville with a decently entertaining race that saw Josef Newgarden get his first and only win of the season which ends the nightmare of a season for Team Penske on a good note. It's been only a couple of days since the final race and silly season has begun with Will Power announcing he will not continue with Team Penske for 2026 and neither will Rinus Veekay at Dale Coyne Racing. The rumor is David Malukas will replace Will Power at Penske and Rinus Veekay will take Malukas' spot at AJ Foyt. Looking up and down the rest of the field, it seems like Will Power could move to Andretti as there is more chatter about Colton Herta making a move to F2 which would free up the #26 Andretti car.

Chase Briscoe wins at Darlington which secures him into the next round of the playoffs.

Coming up this weekend: WEC at COTA, F1 at Monza, and MotoGP at Barcelona.

NASCAR had some good entertainment this weekend at the Glen. SVG takes his 4th win of the season and hands out high-fives to his crew out the window of his car while he's doing burnouts!

Indycar went to Portland where Palou was able to seal the championship especially after Pato had mechanical issues earlier on in the day. Will Power walked away with the win which is the first Penske win of the season and raises even more questions regarding his future with the team....only time will tell.

Coming up these next couple of weekends:

  • 8/17: NASCAR at Richmond and MotoGP at Austria
  • 8/24 - NASCAR at Daytona, Indycar at Milwaukee, IMSA at VIR, and MotoGP at Hungary

Will Byron wins on fuel strategy at Iowa in NASCAR. Next week, NASCAR Goes Bowling at the Glen!

Max Verstappen looked like a hungry-hungry hippo the way he was passing just about everyone in the mid-field but it was Nico Hulkenberg and Kimi Antonelli who were the hungriest of hippos that moved up 5 places each by the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix. Taking the top step of the podium was Lando Norris with Oscar Piastri close behind. One of the McLaren drivers are just about certain to take the WDC for this year but it will be a battle that will likely come down to the final races to decide a champion. This year seems to mirror that of about 10 years ago when it was Lewis and Nico at Mercedes.

A good weekend of sportscar racing took place at Road America. BMW got their first win in GTP and it was also a 1-2 finish for the team. BMW also took the win in GTD Pro!

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR at Watkins Glen, Indycar at Portland, Super Formula at SUGO, & Supercars at Ipswich

After a minor summer break of our own, Nate and Christian are back and do their best to recap all the action that has happened this past month.

NASCAR was at Sonoma, Dover, and Indy these past three weeks. SVG solidifies his playoff presence with his 3rd win of the season at Sonoma. Nate gives us his on the ground report from Dover where Denny Hamlin took the win there. Last but not least, we touch on the Brickyard 400 where William Darrell "Bubba" Wallace Jr. comes out on top!

IMSA is going to Road America this weekend but we recap their previous race at Mosport which had plenty of action! AO Racing claims their first LMP2 win and DragonSpeed take the win in GTDPro.

Staying in the sportscar world, we also recap WEC's 6h of Interlagos. A race that went green for just about the entire way with only a couple VSCs or code 60s which was great to watch a race play out in its entirety that led to not only Cadillac's first win in Hypercar but their first 1-2 as well! Lexus takes their first LMGT3 win too!

IndyCar had 4 races in the past 3 weeks where two drivers split the wins - Pato and Palou. Impressive drives by Kyffin Simpson, Christian Lungaard, Rinus Veekay, and David Malukas over the course of these past few rounds as well. After all the racing that did happen, it's looking more and more likely that Palou will indefinitely take his 4th IndyCar championship. He could even clinch the title after this next race at Portland.

Formula 1 went to Spa this past weekend where once again we had rain. This time was not as severe as 2021 and we were able to go racing after a delay but the response after the race was one that drivers thought they could've gone racing a bit sooner. In the end, they played it safe and McLaren was able to secure a 1-2 with Piastri ahead of Norris. F1 heads to Hungary this weekend before they take their traditional summer break.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR at Iowa, IMSA is at Road America, and F1 is at Hungary.

This one is for the older guys - Nico Hulkenburg, Scott Dixon, and Shane Van Gisbergen show the younger guys it can still be done!

Although both McLaren drivers dominated the British GP with Lando taking the win, it was Nico Hulkenberg who made the headlines as he scored his first career F1 podium finish after starting 19th on the grid! It was a wet and wild grand prix that tested the strategists to their limits. The experience and good timing from the Sauber pit wall helped launch Nico far up the grid to grab the team's first podium since Kamui Kobayashi at Suzuka in 2012.

Indycar went to Mid-Ohio where it was the Chip Ganassi show by the end of the race. Alex Palou leading within the final 10 laps and Scott Dixon behind after saving fuel to make a two stop strategy work from starting 9th on the grid. With the laps winding down, Palou makes a rare mistake by going wide and off the track slightly which slowed him up enough that Dixon was able to capitalize and get ahead of Palou for the eventual win! Dixon is the third race winner for this season but this win now makes it 21 consecutive seasons with a win for Scott Dixon!

NASCAR was at the park in the windy city of Chicago. SVG dominated the weekend in not just the Cup series but in Xfinity as well. This is two wins in the season for SVG now which moves him up in the standings for the playoff picture.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR at Sonoma, IndyCar is at Iowa for a double header, IMSA is at Mosport, and WEC is at Interlagos.

Nate has graced us with his return to the podcast! With that so has a more in depth coverage in the NASCAR races. Nate recaps Pocono and how Chase Briscoe got the win.

IndyCar went to Road America last weekend where after a slow start to the race with multiple cautions, one team rose to the top to come out with the best strategy and it was none other than Chip Ganassi Racing with Alex Palou taking his 6th win of the year! Alex's win was greatly helped by Scott Dixon where Scott gave Alex quite the tow around Road America to allow him to save enough fuel to go to the end.

IMSA visited the finger lakes of New York where they raced at Watkins Glen for 6 Hours. A race that had it all between mixed weather conditions, multiple cautions that flipped strategy on its head, a Lamborghini leading the race, and even a last lap pit stop that cost Cadillac the win to the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura GTP. The Paul Miller BMW took the win in GTD Pro after being able to fend off the rest of the class that was able to keep everyone honest more or less throughout the race.

This past weekend didn't have much running but we recapped the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, Moto GP, and NASCAR. IMSA IMPC had a really enjoyable 4 hour race from Mid Ohio. Plenty of support races as well that are all available on IMSA's Youtube channel if you'd like to go back and watch any of them. Moto GP was at Aragon which put on another show and Denny Hamlin eeked out a victory at Michigan in NASCAR.

Maximum chaos happened this week and no it was not from NASCAR...well IMSA has a NASCAR tie now so I guess it still is. Anyways, a return to the streets of the very tight Detroit street circuit for IndyCar and IMSA where cautions certainly bred cautions. One incident took out the untouchable IndyCar and Indy 500 Champion, Alex Palou. The Indy 500 win curse continues at Detroit as another winner fails to go back to back the following race weekend. However, another repeat winner for the season as Kyle Kirkwood had the dominant pace this weekend.

Over in IMSA, a new BOP has been applied and even though the favored manufacturer won it was not easy. Last minute overtaking in the closing moments had to be done which gave an entertaining finish as Acura took the win in GTP. Ford won in GTD Pro.

Formula 1 went to Spain for their final race for now at Barcelona and it was spicy mainly due to the late Safety Car. We discuss the race in two parts and discuss the incident!

Lando wins Monaco after LeClerc and Ferrari give McLaren a good fight in qualifying. A mandatory two pit stop race didn't seem to change much except for the mid field a little bit. Otherwise, your fairly standard Monaco race and outcome. Onto Barcelona!

The Month of May has come to an end (almost) after the greatest spectacle in racing ended with none other than Alex Palou winning the Indy 500! This is not only Alex's first Indy 500 win but his first IndyCar win on any oval. This year is truly Palou's year and everyone is just along for the ride. Palou has won now 5 of 6 races with a 2nd place finish as his worst finish. A truly dominating performance so far this year and winning the Indy 500 is just a chef's kiss/cherry on top to what is coming to be Alex's 4th IndyCar Championship and 3rd in a row.

Chastain won in Charlotte for the Coke 600 and smashed another watermelon as he does after a win.

Franz Hermann, aka Max Verstappen, takes the win in Imola with a fantastic move around the outside of Oscar Piastri into T2 on lap 1 of the race! Max closes the gap to both McLaren drivers after Piastri had gone on a 3 race win streak. Although it was very controlled from the front, it was a good race with a few key moments for strategy to go good or bad for some. Two yellows (one VSC and the other a full SC) shook the field up and provided Ferrari an ample opportunity to make up some ground after a poor qualifying effort the day before.

IndyCar had it's qualifying days for the greatest spectacle in motorsports this past weekend where none other than Robert Schwartzman driving for Prema took the pole! This is the first time since 1983 that a rookie is starting on pole for the Indy 500. Congrats to Robert and Prema on a fantastic effort! Drama unfolded on the second day of qualifying where Penske was found to be in violation of the rules. They've subsequently had two of their three cars moved to the rear of the field and at the time of our recording of this episode we had not yet received the news that Penske has fired three top employees within the team to make a statement that this is being taken seriously after not just this incident but also from the Push to Pass incident last year as well. Too many mistakes costing the team valuable points in the championship and also leaving a poor stain on the organization.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Charlotte, IndyCar has the Indy 500, F1 is at Monaco.

Palou does it again! RLL puts up a great qualifying performance for the Sonsio Grand Prix but Palou and Chip Ganassi put together another masterclass to get the win. That's 4 wins out of the 5 races so far this season and Palou's worst finish on the year is a 2nd place....WOW! Amazing season for him so far. Looking ahead to this upcoming weekend, Indycar has its qualifying session for the Indy 500. One entry will be BUMPED from the field on Sunday. Who will be the 33 competing for this year's Borg-Warner trophy?

IMSA and WEC raced this weekend as well at Laguna Seca and Spa respectively. Porsche and Ferrari may have won their respective races in convincing fashion but it was action packed, in a good way, with plenty of on track battles! Really worth a watch if you haven't seen the races. Some great stuff up and down the field. IMSA's next race is on the streets of Detroit and then after that it's Le Mans for WEC and some IMSA teams that were invited.

Piastri and Palou just keep winning in F1 and IndyCar. Dominant performances from the two of them in their respective races. Verstappen was able to put on a defensive show until the clock struck midnight as he was out of tires and then to make matters worse a Virtual Safety Car is deployed which put him back to 4th. Although Palou ran away at Barber, the rest of the field had an exciting race that was interesting to watch from a strategic point of view. When to pit, how quick could guys get their tires warmed up, who could defend with cold tires the best? It had some great lunges and passes that played into high risk, high reward scenarios.

Logano takes the win in NASCAR at Texas.

Piastri goes back to back with a win in Jeddah to take the lead of the driver's championship in F1. The race essentially boiled down to a 5 second penalty given to Verstappen after a Turn 1 Lap 1 incident where Piastri runs Verstappen off the road in a situation where both drivers were going faster than they normally would be entering the corner.

WEC had a fantastic race in Imola where although Ferrari took the pole and won the race, in Hypercar, it wasn't with ease. Strategy after some ill-timed full course yellows mid-race led to a great race that tested driver's patience as Imola is a fast and tight track that can be very high risk with high reward if successfully pulled off. In GT3, Manthey Porsche won the race narrowly ahead of the WRT BMW. A great battle that came down to the last lap and almost the final two corners between Richard Lietz and Kelvin Van der Linde

Kyle Larson dominates at Bristol with Hamlin being the closest to him all day.

Porsche sweeps at Long Beach as they finish 1-2 in GTP and win in GTD as well. Penske Porsche has been unstoppable in these first three races. Which manufacture do you think will beat them?

Kyle Kirkwood takes the win at Long Beach for the IndyCar race where he is able to out pace Alex Palou. This was no easy task but Kyle put in a superb qualifying lap to take pole and had great pace during a caution-free race on the streets of Long Beach.

F1 kicked of its first race of back to back to back race weeks in Japan where Max Verstappen reminded everyone just how good he is as he took his Red Bull and put it on pole and followed up with a race victory as well. F1 had its second round of the season in China where McLaren dominated the grand prix with a 1-2 finish. Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari were able to capture their first win together...albeit a Sprint race win. This, however, was overshadowed by a DOUBLE DSQ from Ferrari in Sunday's Grand Prix due to minimum weight and skid block thickness infractions.

IndyCar also had its second round of the season at Thermal Motorsports Club. McLaren looked like it was going to be able to get a win in both F1 and IndyCar on the same day but Alex Palou said "not today" as he stormed to the race win with a great strategy of finishing the race on the Alternate tires. That's 2 for 2 on the season for Palou as his quest for 3 IndyCar championships IN A ROW is on!

Formula One has kicked off their season with a wet and wild opening race in Melbourne, Australia. Lando Norris and McLaren take the victory and make it known that their car is the car to beat this year. We'll see if other teams can catch up in development. Max Verstappen and Red Bull continue to show a strong performance despite the 2nd Red Bull being once again off the pace and nowhere. With that said, there were some mechanical gremlins that hindered Liam Lawson's track time in FP3 so it's not just the driver to blame for this performance.

IMSA had another edition of the Sebring 12 Hours with Porsche standing on top of the podium in both GTP and GTD Pro! They continue to show why they are the team to beat in these longer endurance races especially in GTP. BMW and Acura were quick as well this weekend in GTP and were giving the Porsches a good battle all race. Aston Martin made its GTP debut with its highly anticipated Valkyrie! Although finishing the race 2 laps down to the leader it did finish the race which means plenty of data to sift through and the car is robust enough to handle Sebring's bumps!

After a relatively calm weekend of motorsports to watch between NASCAR and Super Formula, this upcoming weekend is jam packed! NASCAR is off to Las Vegas where Christopher Bell will play the slots to see if he can capture his fourth win in a row. IMSA is at Sebring for the 12 hours where they are accompanied by the Michelin Pilot Challenge, Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series, Porsche Cup Challenge, and Mustang Challenge support series. Lastly, Formula 1 is back and kicking their season off down under in Melbourne, Australia. F2 and F3 will also be at Albert Park this weekend with, as always, the Australian Supercars series for their Melbourne SuperSprint event.

Just a note for last weekend, if you didn't catch the opening Super Formula races they are available at Motorsport.tv for FREE! Both rounds 1 and 2 from Suzuka. I highly recommend this series to anyone interested in fast formula cars as these are second fastest only to Formula 1. Many top F1 and IndyCar drivers have raced this series in the past so it has some great talent.

We also discuss NASCAR's race at COTA...the shortened version. Reviews were mixed about the race and whether or not the short layout is better or worse but the top 3 had a great battle at the end. Formula visited Brazil for a wet and wild race weekend! Qualifying had the grid turned upside down practically and crucially with Norris on Pole and Verstappen back in 17th. As the wet race got underway, Max did not disappoint as he stormed up to the top 10 by the end of the first few laps and as the race progressed he continued to show his dominant pace and was able to walk away with a commanding win! We discuss the incredible drive and how the driver's championship is now more likely just a formality at this point.

NASCAR had it's final cut off race at Martinsville before heading to Phoenix for the Championship. Overall, it was a great race until the last few laps as playoff drama ensued. Nate and Shaun discuss it in detail and give their takes on the race along with suggestions of how to fix the problem.

WEC concluded it's season with the 8 Hours of Bahrain and it was another fantastic race! Toyota was able to win the race which also clinched the Manufacturer's title for them in the Hypercar class as Porsche was able to finish high enough to clinch the Driver's title. Porsche also won both the Drivers and Manufacturer's titles in the GT3 class.

NASCAR visited Homestead for the second race of the Round of 8 where the playoff standings got shuffled a bit as Larson has a bad race where he now needs to have a good race at Martinsville this upcoming weekend to get himself into the Championship 4. Tyler Reddick took the win at Homestead to lock himself into the Championship 4.

Formula One went to Mexico City where Carlos Sainz won the Mexican GP as Max Verstappen entangles himself in some "controversy" that we discuss in detail. Ferrari moves ahead in the constructors championship to 2nd place surpassing Red Bull and is within a reach of 1st that McLaren currently holds.

The MX-5 Cup had its inaugural Martinsville race, an exhibition event, that saw Jared Thomas take home $25,000 and a Martinsville clock at the end of the 105-lap exhibition race. A very exciting ending too with everyone leaning on one another and using the bumpers effectively.

NASCAR went to sin city for its first race of three in the Round of 8 where the last driver to make it into this round ended up taking the win! Joey Logano has successfully locked himself into the championship four in a few weeks time. Three more spots are up for grabs with the two remaining races being Homestead (this weekend) and Martinsville (two weeks time).

F1 returned from its Fall break where they visited Austin, Texas for a Sprint Weekend too. After some great racing in both the Sprint and Grand Prix races, Verstappen ended up extending his points lead over Norris making his 4th title that much closer to a reality. Ferrari had themselves a stellar weekend! Sainz was an absolute machine during the Sprint race going from 5th to 2nd while putting on a great show! LeClerc took the win in the Grand Prix after driving past both Verstappen and Russel on lap 1. Sainz finished 2nd in the Grand Prix and Ferrari have put themselves very much so in reach of overtaking Red Bull in the constructors championship and if they continue like this could even have a chance at winning it!

ELMS had its season finale at Portimao where the finish in GT3 came down to a last lap pass as Iron Lynx Lamborghini dived it to the inside of the Iron Dames Porsche to snatch away first place!

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Homestead, F1 is in Mexico City, and MX5s are at Martinsville! Make sure to catch the MX5s on IMSA's Youtube channel.

NASCAR had it's final race of the Round of 12 where Larson took the win at the Charlotte Roval after a great move for the lead at the newly configured hairpin turn. We will note that for one great pass that was made it seemed that there were 3-4 terribly executed passes that resulted in one car taking out another one....rubbin is racing apparently.

IMSA capped its season off with Petit Le Mans which had a dramatic final two hours and even more so dramatic moment with 5 minutes to go where the leading Chip Ganassi Racing Cadillac nearly completed an entire lap with NO headlights! The car was having an issue where its headlights were flickering on/off intermittently but luckily they stayed on long enough for the race stewards to give them the okay to continue. A pit stop that late in the race to fix the issue surely would have costed them the win. GTD Pro also had some championship drama as the Heart of Racing Aston Martin finished one place lower than they needed to in order to take the championship over the AO Racing Porsche which had a mechanical issue of it's own that set it back 5 laps down to the GTD Pro leaders.

Supercars had their Great Race! The Bathurst 1000! And a great race it was as there was only 3 cautions that happened during the entire race. Great job by everyone to get the cars to the finish.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Las Vegas for it's first race of three in the Round of 8. Formula One returns from it's Fall break with a race at COTA in Texas.

NASCAR took to the high banks of Talladega where THE Big One happened! 27 cars involved (everyone is ok!) which left us with a classic Green-White-Checkered Overtime finish to a NASCAR race. They go to Charlotte where they'll run the Roval configuration as the last race of the 2nd round. Four more drivers will be eliminated.

GT World Challenge capped its season off at Indianapolis Motor Speedway with an 8 hour endurance race. 25 GT3s and wow it had some exciting action even from a pit strategy point of view too!

SCCA had it's biggest event of the year, the Run-Offs, at Road America this year! Three days of feature races for all the classes that took part this year and there were some great races that finished with some exciting side by side photo finishes as everyone was drafting off each other coming to the checkered flag.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Charlotte - Roval, IMSA has its season finale at Road Atlanta for Petit Le Mans, Supercars is racing the Bathurst 1000, and Super Formula will have a double-header at Fuji.

The European Le Mans Series had a 4 hour race at Mugello where there was a big accident which brought out the red flag. Everyone was okay and they were able to continue on afterwards.

Red Bull had its red flag moment this past week as they announced Daniel Ricciardo would not be driving anymore races this season. An unfortunate end for someone with so much character in the paddock.

NASCAR wrapped up its first round of playoffs at Bristol which was duly dominated by Kyle Larson. They go to Kansas next weekend for the start of the next round of playoffs.

Formula 1 took on the giant lizard of Singapore where Lando Norris came out on top with Max Verstappen finishing 2nd and Oscar Piastri rounding out the podium in 3rd. Speculation of Ricciardo's situation has come up where questions are being asked if this was his last race in F1. There is also the questionable Swear-gate situation where the FIA is not pleased with Verstappen's use of the F word over the radio and gave him community service to which Verstappen had some comments about that.

IMSA had an exciting race that involved some wet weather for the 6 hour race at Indy. BMW walked away with a 1-2 finish in GTP which was a much needed and well deserved finish for them in the GTP era. After the race had finished, all GTP cars were impounded for inspection and also to be looked at for BoP to help for the final race at Petit Le Mans in a couple of weeks.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Kansas and MotoGP is in Indonesia.

NASCAR went bowling at the Glen this weekend as Turn 1 looked just like that for a lot of the restarts that happened during the races. Chris Buescher comes out on top as he capitalizes on a last lap mistake from SVG through the bus stop. NASCAR heads to Bristol for the last race of the first round of playoffs.

IndyCar had its season finale at Nashville Superspeedway and this race did not disappoint! Well it did a little bit in regards of the championship drama as Will Power has some bad luck and Alex Palou walks away with his 3rd IndyCar Championship. It was a tall order to begin with for Power but an issue with his lap belts unbuckling certainly put an end to his championship hopes rather quickly.

Formula 1 kicked off it's street race double header at Baku where 3 teams were nose to tail in the final laps of the race! These drivers were so close to each other that Sainz and Perez got into each other and very up close and personal with a wall that ended both of their races a lap short of the checkered flag. Piastri came out victorious with no controversy to spoil this win for him. LeClerc with a great 2nd finish (although tough to say after starting on pole). Norris had a bounceback finish of 4th after starting 17th. The struggles continue for Verstappen as he finishes 5th.

WEC raced at Fuji and what an entertaining race it was! Toyota got hit pretty hard with some BOP adjustments which meant we got a few new teams to see the podium for their first time in the Hypercar era - BMW finishes 2nd and Alpine finishes 3rd! The #6 Porsche Penske continues its successful run this season with their 2nd win of the season. This car has yet to finish outside of the top 10 with a 6th place finish as their worst result. Meanwhile in LMGT3, Manthey Porsche #92 officially clinches the GT3 class championship as they took 2nd place this weekend behind the #54 Vista AF Corsa Ferrari.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Bristol, F1 is in Singapore, and IMSA is at Indianapolis for a 6 hour race at the Brickyard.

Ferrari is victorious once again for the 20th time at Monza! Charles LeClerc takes a win for Ferrari in Italy! FANTASTICO! McLaren's priorities come into question even more so as they fail to convert a front row lockout into a win along with the fact their leading driver in the driver's championship is not being prioritized for points to mount a comeback as Red Bull seems to be falling behind even further! There is a lot of signs pointing to a potentially exciting end to this season of F1.

NASCAR had it's last regular season race at Darlington as Chase Briscoe took the win to secure himself a playoff spot! Next week, the playoffs will begin at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

IndyCar had it's double header at Milwaukee and what an entertaining weekend it was! Race 1 was very exciting as Pato O'Ward got the win after putting himself in a great position for when the cautions came out. Race 2 was the more intriguing race as the championship could've been turned upside-down for Palou as he had troubles on the formation lap and Will Power looked poised to make up a lot of points. The points gap closed but Power did not get all that he could. The title is coming down to the last race of the season in Nashville in 2 weeks but Palou just needs a solid finish as he has this championship all but wrapped up at the moment.

Coming up this weekend: NASCAR is at Atlanta for the first race of the playoffs. Moto GP is in Italy for a round at Misano.

The summer break is here but before the racing world takes a small vacation or slight dip in the amount of racing on a weekend, Formula 1 concluded it's 14th round at Spa-Francorchamps. A very exciting, strategic race where it felt like it could've been one of 7-8 drivers that could've won had one driver/team made a mistake! George Russell took the win...wait...scratch that....Lewis Hamilton took the win after George was found to be UNDER the minimum legal weight by 1.5 kg (~3 lbs). After a brilliant one stop strategy, speculation is that he missed the legal weight due to his tires being worn by an equivalent amount of 1.5 kg....or they could've just under-fueled him by that much too.

Verstappen relinquished pole position after having to take a 10 place grid penalty due to an engine change. He was able to recover to 4th by the end of the race and was within 1 second of the podium which LeClerc was able to snag!

Formula 1 is now off for 3 weeks until the end of August where they return to Zandvoort! NASCAR is still on its summer break due to the Olympics and the TV coverage deal they have with NBC.

Coming up this weekend is IMSA at Road America. The WeatherTech series will be supported by the Michelin Pilot Series, Porsche Cup, and Mustang Challenge. Plenty of racing to watch! Also there's a race at the Nordschleife this weekend as VLN has one of its rounds. You can catch that race on YouTube.

This past weekend, racecars tried to become planes as cars got airborne. Formula 1 continued its season at the Hungaroring where McLaren finished 1-2 but not without some controversy. Verstappen meanwhile finished 5th after bad strategy from the pit wall and a few overtakes that came from desperation on his end.

IndyCar went to the streets of Toronto where Andretti dominated as Colton Herta was 5 race laps short of a grand slam as he took the win ahead of his teammate Kyle Kirkwood. Two cars got airborne as well in this race with Santino Ferrucci most notably ending upside down. He was alright but that was the end of his race.

NASCAR returned to Indy but this time they returned to the rectangle for the Brickyard 400...and in typical NASCAR fashion the end of the race came down to an overtime finish but this one came with some extra spiciness as the officials seemed to make up some rules to get the race over with. Larson wins in the end but not very many people were happy otherwise about the decisions made from race control.

Coming up this weekend - Formula 1 goes to the infamous Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium for the last round before their summer break. NASCAR is on a two week summer break of their own as the Olympics are going on and NBC will be focusing their coverage to the events in Paris.

Indycar had its doubleheader at Iowa Speedway and it was a good heat test for the new hybrids as temperatures were high 80s to low 90s for both races. The repave changed the racing which the drivers had to navigate and pit stops had to be perfect as they played a more crucial role.

NASCAR was at Pocono where Ryan Blaney took the win. WEC returned to Interlagos for the first time in 10 years and what a show they put on! Fantastic battles throughout the race! Great return to a great facility for these cars. Hope they keep this track around in future seasons. IMSA had another round at Mosport with the LMP2s being the top class. Both GT classes were there as well so just the GTPs that took a round off.

Formula One wraps up their triple header at the British GP and what a glorious and most prestigeous event it was as Britain conquered the motorsports world.....as non-British viewers of the race & also proud Americans, we were in full support of someone to spoil their party to "rob" a British driver of a win at their home race. But alas, Lewis Hamilton came out in victory and I have to say we were not disappointed with the race. It was actually very good!

Indycar has reached it's mid point of the season, however, now they are officially racing with the new hybrid systems onboard! O'Ward and Palou put on a great race as they were the class of the field that day! NASCAR raced in the streets of Chicago and it was wet. The European Le Mans Series also had a round at Imola which we cover as well.

NASCAR raced waited for hours to race in the rain at New Hampshire and reviews were mixed but was interesting for sure. Formula 1 kicked off it's triple header at Barcelona in Spain where Verstappen and Red Bull just keep on going but Norris and McLaren are inching closer and closer! Indycar visited Laguna Seca where it was one hell of a strategy race, however, Palou and Ganassi continue their dominance. Can Palou continue this momentum into the 2nd half of the season? Lastly, IMSA had it's Watkins Glen 6 Hours and we don't think that disappointed one bit! Some great racing with mixed conditions and a quick red flag had the race come down to a roughly 30 minute sprint race at the end where GTP saw the Porsche and Cadillac chase one another to the line and in GTD Pro we had a 6 way battle for the lead where the Heart of Racing Aston Martin came out on top!

Looking ahead to this weekend F1 is in the hills of Austria at the Red Bull Ring. Also the Spa 24 is taking place as well to cap off the 72 Hours of June for a few drivers that competed in the Nurburgring 24 and 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this month.

NASCAR Cup had an interesting race at Gateway where a few key contenders at the end of the race ran out of fuel. The Xfinity race had a great race and was probably the best of the weekend with SVG taking his first win in that series.

The month of May comes to a close and the Indy 500 sure did put on a show! A little bit of controversy with Newgarden winning and a discussion point raised on how could both IndyCar and NASCAR be flexible when inclement weather looks imminent on race day.

NASCARs Coke 600 was not 600 miles in the end and F1 cars at Monaco went slower than F2 cars on the same weekend. We dive a bit deeper into what F1 and Monaco could do to help make the racing more interesting.

We also go down a bit of a rabbit hole. In NASCAR, Stewart-Haas Racing has announced they will sell the team and get out at the end of this year. In F1, the FIA President has told Andretti that they are better off buying another team. Connecting these two dots - could Haas F1 be up for sale? We look at other options that could be viable based on the latest rumors circulating the F1 paddock.

The month of May is almost complete! We'll round out this month with the Indy 500 and the Monaco GP. Scott McLaughlin put the yellow submarine on Pole for a Penske sweep of the front row. Verstappen and Red Bull seemed to struggle in the opening practice sessions at Imola but in the end it was business as usual as he secured another win. Albeit a narrow victory as Lando put on a last minute charge in the final 10 laps.

Prema announces it will join the Indycar grid in 2025, Katherine Legge, Connor Daly, and Marco Andretti share news about their Indy 500 rides coming up in May, and Flying Lizard Motorsports returns to IMSA to run at Long Beach with an Aston Martin GT3 entry in the GTD class.

Racing this upcoming weekend is on the very light side as Moto GP races at COTA (where a Garage56 demo run will occur) and the European Le Mans Series is having it's season opener in Spain.

After a week off the Red Mist Podcast crew is all back together at the Red Mist Garage for this week's episode. We recap the past two NASCAR races of COTA and Richmond (but mostly Richmond) and we also recap F1's trip down under at Albert Park. We also look ahead to F1's upcoming race at Suzuka! Very early in the season for this race but we look forward to seeing Japan during the Spring season. NASCAR is at Martinsville this weekend as well.

A good friend of the podcast Jake Innes joins us to discuss his young racing career. Jake comes from Long Island where he takes part in karting leagues at Grand Prix New York and also takes part in the Mini Stock class at Riverhead Raceway. We also discuss his trip last month to the Daytona 500.

We recap the racing from NASCAR at Bristol and IMSA at Sebring (all the series) from this past weekend. The Bristol race was a strategy filled race as tires were fading and fading fast. Sebring had great battles throughout all the series that went there. From MX-5s all the way up to the GTPs in the WeatherTech series.

Coming up this weekend NASCAR is at COTA, F1 and Supercars are at Melbourne, Indycar has it's exhibition race at Thermal, and MotoGP is running at Portimao.

F1 and WEC kicked their seasons off at Bahrain and Qatar respectively. F1 had some moments but in short it seems we've picked up where we left off from last year. WEC on the other hand we thought was fantastic! Yes BoP will be sorted but a change of pace to see who was at the front for once and although it felt odd not having the LMP2s be apart of the championship it did simplify the understanding of the race having only one class of prototypes and GT cars.

NASCAR raced in Vegas....that's about it. No three wide finish this week.

F1 has it's second round this weekend at Jeddah. A permanent race track! Pardon our mistake in the episode calling it a street circuit. Indycar has their first round of the year at St. Petersburg. Super Formula kicks its season off at Suzuka. You can catch the action of that series on the SFgo app. Moto GP is at Qatar this weekend to begin their season after cancelling the Argentina GP. Lastly, NASCAR is at Phoenix this weekend.

Formula 1 and WEC have their preseason testing at Bahrain and Qatar respectively. Ferrari topped the timesheets in F1 and Porsche was on top in WEC. Both the opening rounds for both series are this Saturday March 2nd. We'll see if testing translates to race day.

Supercars kicked its season off with the Bathurst 500 which consists of two 250 races. Also the Ford Super Van made an appearance and broke the track record only a week after Mercedes with their unrestricted GT3 car broke the previous record! This is exciting stuff to see the potential of these cars be unleashed and put on rails!

William Byron wins the Daytona 500 and Manthey Racing wins the Bathurst 12 Hours. The Daytona 500 had mixed responses as the ending was lack luster to say the least and restrictor plate racing leads to another BIG ONE. The Bathurst 12 Hours was very entertaining from a differing pit strategies to changing weather conditions and a late race caution leading to a sprint at the end!

Nate recaps his virtual Daytona 500 experience as well!

Coming up this week, Formula 1 has it's preseason testing and so does WEC with their Prologue. Supercars open their season with the Bathurst 500! Racing season is back in full swing for 2024 and we're looking forward to it!

F1 cars being on track is one step closer! This past week we've gotten to see just about everyone showcase their 2024 challengers. With the regulations staying more or less the same with no major changes, a lot of the cars are starting to look the same and take inspirations from cars at the front of the field.

With the Clash aside, NASCAR really kicks it's season off at Daytona for the 500 race this weekend. There's also Xfinity, Trucks, and ARCA racing as well. Hopefully mother nature can play nice this weekend although a rain out on Sunday seems almost imminent at the time of our recording this week.

Down under this weekend is the Bathurst 12 Hours! The race will start sometime Saturday night for those of us in the US looking to find a stream somewhere on the internet.

Wow! Not a lot of racing this past weekend but shock waves have circled the globe with the announcement of Lewis Hamilton leaving Mercedes at the end of the 2024 and heading to Ferrari for 2025 to drive alongside Charles LeClerc! We discuss this monumental moment and its implications of what lies ahead.

Just before the Hamilton/Ferrari announcement, another big news piece came forth as Andretti was denied entry to the F1 grid for the 2026 season. Although the wording hints at a possible entry for them in 2028, the reasons stated as to why they cannot join the grid in 2026 are just absolutely ridiculous in claiming that they could potentially be "noncompetitive" after coming off the 2023 season where 1 driver won 19 of 23 races...needless to say we are not happy with the decision.

NASCAR had it's Clash race at the LA Coliseum and Indycar had another couple of testing days with the new hybrid power units at Homestead.

Following the Roar at Daytona last weekend, IMSA opened it's season with the Rolex 24. Aside from the somewhat controversial ending from a timing error on IMSA's part the racing was excellent! The battle for the overall lead in GTP was fantastic between the Cadillac and Porsche! Great racing from the other classes as well even our podcast favorite Risi Competizione took the win in GTD Pro.

Other racing from that weekend was exciting too with the Michelin Pilot Series but even more so from the Whelan MX-5 Cup Series! If you haven't seen those two races, check out either IMSA Official or The Racer Channel YouTube pages to watch the replays.

In the world of F1, Lando and LeClerc have extended their contracts with their teams. Although we haven't even started the 2024 season, speculation for 2025 lineups is in full swing as about three-quarters of the grid have contracts expiring at the end of the 2024 season. There's also a rumor about where a 4th US race might be.

Happy New Year! After a holiday break we pick up with a discussion we wanted to have about Indycar's engine suppliers and the state that Indycar is in. With the car supposedly poised to get a hybrid implemented for this season there hasn't been much change to the car outside of the aeroscreen and various stages of aero body kits that have gone onto the same chassis that is about 11 years old now. What does the future hold for the series? Is this the right move? How can they engage more fans?

The off season lull is in full swing. IMSA had it's Homologation Test at Daytona this week where we saw the first outings of the Lamborghini GTP, Ford Mustang GT3, and Corvette GT3. WEC had more driver lineups being confirmed along with some news of refined Safety Car rules and their commitment to no tire warmers allowed in the coming season. Indycar's big announcement is that the new hybrid power unit would not make its debut at St. Petersburg, FL but rather in the streets of Detroit AFTER the Indy 500. An odd time to switch power units in the middle of the season...

The Bathurst 12 Hours had a wild finish to the record distance breaking race they put on. They traveled 1,212 miles (1950 km) in 12 hours around Mount Panorama. NASCAR attempted to have another race with The Clash at the Collesium...turned out to be more of a demolishin' derby but hey where else can you see a 4 hour race that has an average speed of 21.8 mph to go 37.5 miles. Oh well, there's good years and bad years so hopefully this one can be left behind and move forward to some better races because up next for NASCAR is the Daytona 500!
