Training for the unkNOWn (TFTU). I had a spectacular day today. When that happens, things get really interesting.

Three main points, and one bonus, about TFTU from today are:

  • on ramping your spirit

  • use nourishing self-talk

  • segment intending

The bonus is the reminder and provocation to get, and stay, in action. Anything is better than nothing, and you’ll feel alive and proud once you engage (and the opposite if you don’t).

Bring your TFTU to activities you love and use them as ways to put yourself under pressure, so you get better and better at being uncomfortable.

Today for me was really spectacular. My legs and lungs were feeling good, which provided an onramp for my spirit to engage. The flow state allowed me to score many sweet goals, assist on loads of goals for others, and make really good hockey plays all over the ice.

Damn it’s a blast playing this well and I noticed my confidence expanding and my self-talk flowing positively.

But there are always bad moments, and I love these, because they offer the opportunity to engage my nourishing self-talk. Today I made many bad plays, but recovered really fast and made the next right play. Then the next beautiful play after that, allowing the Upward Spiral to get spinning. Stoping the negative is huge because when bad plays compound is where train wrecks start.

In between shifts I review my time on the ice and use segment intending to make a clear intention for my next time on the ice. With the bad plays, the reminder is to play harder on the puck, make clear, decisive passes, but to be looking up before I do, and to keep my legs moving. With the good plays, the intention is to keep calm hands, being patient, using my eyes and vision, and keep being strong.

This was the third game in three days, and my play got progressively better and they were all different. By continuing to show up and pay attention, I grow my baseline of the player and person I am. And I’m reminded how good it feels and how powerfully useful it is to bring TFTU alive, both by showing up day after day, and doing so with intention and joy.

The provocation I offer today is to get, and stay, in action. Get yourself uncomfortable. Put yourself under pressure. And enjoy the feeling of being fully alive.

Training for the unkNOWn (TFTU). Incredible things happen when I show up day after day. My daily practice is a huge gift. My commitment to it increases my self confidence and gets me ready to blast off into my life.

Three main points about TFTU from today are:

  • Daily practice - keep showing up

  • Onramp

  • Catching hard moments and bad days

I had a strong day today. I love playing hockey and life. What and opportunity to experience aliveness and happiness.

By playing hockey 4 times this week I feel my perseverance. The consistency in playing allows me to navigate and distinguish between the good shifts and the bad shifts, okay days and spectacular days.

The game slows down and gets easier, and I can onramp my desire to push myself. I’m able to push my legs and lungs because I’m familiar with how my body will react. I know how much gas I have in the tank, how I’ll respond, and when to use the extra juice for a play.

Today I was able to work the boards to win pucks away from the other team (which takes a huge amount of energy), my anticipation was excellent both offensively and defensively, and I was finding lots of open space.

I also busted my butt back defensively (yes, that’s an unusual thing in a pickup hockey game when everyone is focused on scoring, not defense), catching a younger guy through sheer effort, but I stopped one stride short. I let up right in front of the goal, the guy making the pass saw it, threaded a beautiful pass right to the dude whose sitck was literally inches in front of mine and he scored.

I could have felt bad about this, focusing on the goal instead of the effort I made, and I did just enough to remind myself to finish what I start - the focus of my next shift.

By showing up consistently I noticed a deep change happen inside myself. I moved away from an insecure holding of me to a curious and intuitive holding of me. Basically, I stopped worrying about whether I was doing the right thing or whether I belonged in the game, and began making (many good) plays.

The moral of the story is show up. And keep showing up. You know you want to, so make it happen and then enjoy being flooded with confidence and gratitude for yourself.

Training for the unkNOWn (TFTU). The learning today is about Creating Community, an important component of TFTU.

The main points about TFTU from today are:

  • Create community

  • Deep integrity

  • Do the training, so you’re ready when opportunity arrives

Playing with good players makes a huge difference. Being around quality people makes life way more interesting, meaningful, and dynamic.

Today, we played a great game. We scored bunches of beautiful and impressive goals. We made really strong hockey plays, and frustrated the other team. And there was a grace and an ease to it, because we each played our part. I didn’t have to overextend try to be something more than I am. I got to bring all my hustle, aggressiveness, and creative playmaking to the game.

Life at the edge is so incredibly enjoyable.

Because of my commitment to live life with deep integrity, I find myself around amazing people all the time. They challenge me to be better. I challenge them to be better. Together we drop into deep intimate, meaningful connection.

To get there requires a devotion to TFTU. You have to establish your infrastructure of being good at discomfort and calm.

Once you feel how sweet it is to play with really good players, and enhance the game with your contribution, your commitment to your practice will deepen and expand. Get to it, you’ll thank yourself later.

  • Recorded on a hilly 10K training run

  • ABC’s

  • My commitment to working my way into my Real You

Lessons - Tools

  • ABC’s

  • Playing my physical and mental edge

Today, I continue my run, and share the last of the 3 tools. The ABC’s. Up and Down more hills and to the edge of challenges. I share another of the three tools I use when I feel the edge of difficulty.

Tool #1 - Being relentlessly positive with myself

Tool #2 - Tapping into Possibility Beyond Possibility.

Tool #3 (and the focus of this recording) - ABC’s

In this case I am on a run, but my deep suggestion, encouragement, and practice is to use the ABC’s any day, any time, to get yourself back from any difficult moment. Back from that Bad Day and to your high flying disk. The High Flying disk of being connected to the powerful Real You.

My incentive to share this run with you is to share my process of working my way to the place where I am Impeccable with my word to myself. Where there is no wobble in how I am talking to myself. There are days when this is easy and I go right there. But I hope it’s obvious by sharing while in some distress the kind of energy, creativity, perseverance, failure, compassion, and commitment it takes to get to the place where I am fully present and connected to my Real You.

I had an absolute blast recording this while on my run and have many runs where I imagine sharing my process, my struggle, my adventure while on the edge of engaging. Or not engaging.

Some of my most fun places in this podcast:

  • Being willing to go as far up the ladder of possibility as

  • Invitation to find my wobbling, and how I work through it

  • Search for Delicious place of being fully connected to myself

  • Sinking into the Sunrise

  • Connection to my dad - his exercises

  • Using tools to Connect to Real You

Lessons - Tools

  • Staying present - no music, podcasts, etc.

  • Being positive in my Self-Talk. Caring deeply for yourself.

  • Connecting to what is Possible Beyond Possible

  • Nap. Sleep. Trust.

Today, I take you on a run with me. Up and Down hills and to the edge of challenges. First I explore, unexpectedly, Bad Days. How to handle the days that are just really difficult. Second, I share two of the three tools I use when I feel the edge of difficulty, in this case on a run, but that I suggest you can use any day, any time, to get yourself back from any difficult moment. Back from that Bad Day and to your high flying disk. The High Flying disk of being connected to the powerful Real You.

The goal of the exercise, and every day is Being Extraordinary. What ever that means to you - to have an extraordinary day - whether that is dealing with depression or anxiety, going on a run, writing a book, connecting with your friends and partner, or being joyful, playful, fun, healthy, and alive.

I share about how I use the work of Wim Hof and Abraham Hicks.

You get to experience my process of listening to the energy that wants to come through.

You get a glimpse of my unique Daily Practice. My weaving my way into my Real You. That place in me that Gives a Huge Sh*t.

Of how I talk to myself in a positive way. How I feel possibility.

I share about the magnetic draw to feel bad, to be negative drawn into fear, anxiety loops in the US.

My hope and intention is to inspire you to engage in this practice, your practice. To use this example of my way, my practice to help you play and create a meaningful practice for yourself.

Imagine a world of possibility. I don’t mean possibility in the future-dwelling, hypothetical sense, as in “maybe someday” sense, but as a profoundly present quality. A quality of aliveness, unkNOWn. Imaginal and full of awe. Full of wonder. Delicious mystery. Possibility of what exists Beyond our 5 senses.

Possibility where we are calibrated to stunning textures of beauty, care, connection, love, and incredibleness. Calibrated to the energy of the cosmos. Calibrated to the more beautiful world we know and trust is out there. Out there Beyond. Beyond rules, limits, fears.

Inhabiting this world of possibility is fun and powerful and meaningful. This episode is dedicated to sharing my process of calibrating to and believing in the Beyond. That world of possibilities.

A story weaves through me, my process of inviting and allowing this Knowing and Trusting, and invites you into the inquiry of how you get yourself, your Self, the Real You there.

The story offers ideas about: Connecting to your Self, that Self that wants to come alive sometimes takes the skill of spiraling in there. Attuning to how to invite that beautiful, powerful, motivated, fierce part of you forward, how to talk to yourself. How to engage your practice. How to get yourself going. I share my journey on this path.

The story offers ideas about: Getting in touch with the Real You, feeling You fully includes using the right language. Being kind to yourself. Moving away from the places you feel bad about yourself. Seeking out and connecting to the places you feel strong about yourself. Then spending energy focusing there.

The story offers so much more. Enjoy. And Welcome to the Beyond.

So glad you’re here. So glad you’re you!

Stories:

  • San Diego Fire

  • Whispering Cult - Law of Attraction

  • Running “There is No Place I’d Rather Be”

Lessons

  • Life Beyond being a victim, making excuses, needing Normal World identity validation.

  • Building your Sense of Self, the Real You.

  • Why Cults could be amazing, but usually fail epically. And cause loads of harm in the process.

  • Being generous, caring, and loving to yourself. Your people. The energies of the world.

  • How to invite in and be a conduit of beautifully powerful, creative, loving energy.

In this episode I begin the play of changing the format of the Beyond Podcast to match my newly discovered writing style. Which is to say, that I’m going to follow a story format. There is energy that wants to come through stories. Come through all these fun moments that present themselves to me, because I am attuned to them. I am present. Listening. Curious. Playful.

What you will be treated to in this episode is the powerful place of what happens when we give up our identity structure as Victim, Excuse Maker, Resume builder, “A” student, professional, etc. and step beyond needing Normal World identity validation.

Do you get how powerful it’ll be when you stop identifying as “Anxious person”, “Fire victim”, or in my case “Guy whose dad died when I was a teen”? And you just get to be yourself without that, or any resume worthy, identity?

I offer my understanding of why this is difficult. Namely, that we have to have a place for the Real You to land. For your Self to know and trust that you’ll be okay. So that when someone asks, “What are you up to in your life” that there is no Wobble in your response. That it doesn’t send you onto a downward spiral of doubt and confusion.

Then I use the Law of Attraction to explain why Cults don’t work - teachers/leaders who are amazing at manifestation/magic, but not gifted in sharing, caring, and get caught in the old ego, power identify trap.

This matters because the significance of being massively generous to yourself as you make this transition to deep belief and identification with the Real You, and your learning process is crucial. I offer examples of my own journey, self talk, and how fun the exploration is for me. And hopefully you.

Finally, there is a call to action, “Lets F*g Go!”. Lets get fierce and play. The Beyond is there to be explored. What magic will you bring to the table?

Our development of our sense of self, our search for meaning continues. Such is the way of the Beyonder.

The trance of the modern world can stir loads of fear. Our journey to the Beyond asks us to train to be capable of living free from this trance.

Elon Musk recently offered a reflection about AI and the future. Listening on a sailboat out in the middle of the ocean was an interesting adventure. What is the impact of AI bots going to be?  How much trouble are we in? What about Climate Change and all the other threats?

From the bow of this sailboat the fear feels far away. Here it is easy to honor my bias towards humanity.  Towards Big questions.  Towards Big meaning. Towards Staying in the beauty of the present.

Lets create more meaning. More love. More connection with the natural world. With self.  Lets live in a way that is meaningful, rich, and constantly stimulates curiosity.

We begin each day saying, “Today is a really good day.” We Welcome. Invite.  Lure the energies of the day. Calibrating to possibility. Beckoning love and health.

Our training helps us gain the strength, capability, and desire to break out of the trance of the modern world.  We let go of old stories. We evaluate the rules are we playing by that we don’t need to be playing by.

Please join as we live with a Bias towards Action. Towards compassion. Towards aliveness. Towards love.  As we remember over and over again that the thing that makes life meaningful is us making life meaningful.

Let’s please do this for all the good men in the world. They are out there. Look for them. And when you see them, please reach out.

I share lots about being uncomfortable. The importance of getting good at being in hard moments.

You know the time is now to step further into your fierceness.

Here is an experience of being uncomfortable. As I arrive in Mexico and experience a new culture for the first time in many years.

My daily practice. My fierceness. My desire to learn. My training. These are all qualities that have helped me create expansion while in Mexico.

It also feels important to describe the experience of being uncomfortable. How I navigated my way through the challenges and into expansion.

I can easily think I should be different. Be better than I am.

Easy to believe:

  • That because someone else is really good at studying, researching, and knowing all about a subject, that I should be able to do the same.
  • That because someone else does all kinds of service, that I should do more service.
  • That because someone is totally devoted to their path and off on a mountaintop, that I should be that devoted.
  • That because I make it up and do things my own way, that everyone should do it my way.

There is great relief (for me) in knowing that I have my style and others have their style.  Instead of floating out in the world without a model of how I be in the world, having a frame provides a place for me to land and make sense of my world.

When I have a frame and am able to make sense of my world, then instead of falling into my old habit of feeling bad about myself, I am able to see/hold/love myself simply, beautifully as different, instead of broken.

Here are 4 pathways to the soul as we swim towards the divine. Towards the Beyond.  This model is from the Hindu tradition.

Jana - Study. Know and learn. And dive into the sacred.

Karma - service. Constant work offering. Always served something

“Only feel stupid in America”. In other place they would acknowledge and see you. Not valued. Being yourself and serving.

Backthi- devotion. Adoration.  Bow to anything that moves. See the divine in you right now. Wants to be in the devotion.

If you don’t get a taste of the ecstatic you fall into depression and shittiness.

Raji - experimental life. No dogma. No teacher. Moving towards. Make it up as you go.  Make it up yourself. Self experiment. How the longing in my soul is moving towards the sacred. Listening to self.

On this morning, as I sit in a clear cut - where all the tree have been cut down - I offer love to this land. To the “ugly” stumps, debris, and regeneration happening. How must it feel for all the beings that inhabit this space to be met with anger, hatred, sadness, grossness, etc.  Imagine being treated like that as a human.  Yuck.

The practice for us as we aim to step across the threshold of the old, dying stories and into the Beyond, is to feel the tragic.  To keep our hearts, eyes, and ears open as we experience the  (metaphorical) clear cuts all over the world.

Eventually we can shift our aliveness to the post-tragic, where we live in the unconditional love, nuance, and discomfort of life.

View Details

The first important part of Creating New Habits and Breaking Old Habits, is the desire to do so.

Do you feel a desire for health and vitality that is strong enough to overcome the mental laziness and lack of motivation?  Are you ready to truly step across the threshold of all your old stories and enter into the territory Beyond? Are you ready to overcome the love of ease and numb and engage in what your soul, your Wild Man truly wants?

Or at least ask the question (if you say “I don’t know what I want”).

Things you don’t really want are not strong enough to hold your attention. They create a move towards addiction, numbing, filling yourself with a different kind of spirit.

So often these things that you do are things you don’t really want to be doing, but you feel you should be doing or are supposed to do. You were told, and you believe, that they will get you somewhere. So you stay stuck in the loop of death.

The New Story, the story of The Beyond, is where we walk each other home. Where we are done seeking, evading, and are ready to show up fully with helping hands for ourselves and our people.  The time is now to settle in and embrace our humanity in our threshold crossings over  and over again into our new selves.

Welcome.

View Details

Breaking through the loop of death to cross the threshold into the Beyond takes a tremendous effort.

One of the biggest challenges is that when we face adversity, it’s very easy to fall into the old habit of self criticism, self blame, anger, judgment, avoidance, numbness, or whatever your particular habit is when you’re in a tough spot and feeling bad.

These last many months have been both amazing for me and wildly challenging. There have been many, many moments when I am facing really hard, uncomfortable, feelings.  Whether it be having to step away from a relationship and know that there are many people hurting because of my decision, or feeling rejected by a friend, or being given honest, direct, and inconvenient feedback at work, there have been huge opportunities for me to do the same thing I’ve been doing my whole life. Feel bad about myself. Go quiet. Feel shame.  Feel like not enough. Feel lonely and incapable.

Wow, that’s hard to write and feel. But it’s such a familiar pattern in my life, but finally I see it. And I can feel the temptation of going down that road. But, I’m deeply committed to finding a different way. And I’m challenging you, offering you the same opportunity. In this episode, I share my journey and offer insights into how you can do the same!

Unleash the Beast

Dealing with big feelings. I talk about heading into the discomfort of life. Of heading into, not away from the difficulty. Here is a Beyond episode from inside the discomfort.

I’m hurting this week. My people are hurting also in that fascinating way life orchestrates itself.

Inside the hurt I’m working to be grateful for these exact experiences life is offering me. It’s uncomfortable and frustrating and painful, and I know that it’s full of learning.

My practice has 3 components. I use these when I notice moments of wanting to distract myself, to act out, to disassociate, to reach for a substance or addiction.

  1. Get myself present. Breathe and tap my body. Notice the trees and air around me.
  2. Love myself in this moment of pain and discomfort. “Here I am. This hurts. I’m sad. And I’m okay. Right here. Right now. I’m okay. And I love me.” And I remember that I’m lovable.
  3. I reach for my little guy. My wounded little guy. And I tell him I’ve got him. He is loved. He is protected. And he tells me the same.

Now we’re in different territory. Outside the old patterns. And recreating, literally and figuratively, the patterns in our brain, cells, and being.

It’s powerful work.

The world then offers moments of challenge. “Are you sure you want that new path?” How confident are you? How is your conviction? Your resolve?

That old path. Those old habits are wildly tempting - my friends golden pathway. The new way is challenging and different. But it is the way of the wild man. The port warrior.

Into the difficulty. Not away.

Ahh, the dance of the Beyond.

The soul is here to create challenges. The soul knowing in you,  The soul wants to come alive.

When we don’t follow it, then the system shuts down

If I’m not going to be expressed, then I’m going to shut shit down.  I’m going to make things so miserable for you until you find your way out.

Don’t give up.

Please do something different.  Try new, wild things.

Stuck in school, stuck in a job, stuck in the conventions.

Not here to fight each other, be polarized. Not here to be idiots. We are here to create beauty.

Stepping towards vibrancy. We are here be vital.

Culture is Fucked Up. Offers all these superficial things that make us think we will be happy if we have these things, if we do these things.
There is not support from the system to be our unique beautiful self.

The scariest most dangerous thing for the system is being your wild self.  When you play outside the lines, then you can’t be controlled.

We start caring about friendship, connection, beauty, life.

They want to get in shape for their girlfriends.  Only being happy with other people, for other people is

The spirit has got to engage. You’ve got to get to the place where you won’t tolerate your life any more.  Get to the place where you thrash and break all the rules.  Out Beyond there are not rules, kindness, consideration.

Story about being help under the water.

Time to do things differently.  Don’t do the same thing you’ve done over and over again.  Get pissed off. Get hurt. Get angry.

Drink water.  Go on walks. Get up in the morning. Simple exercise. Eat good food. Do some dishes. How every you need to make it happen, take action.

The challenge of starting…you aren’t good at the actions. It doesn’t feel good.

You will never get where you want to go without the beginning steps.  And the beginning steps are hard!

The Cusp - from Launch Your Life. Avoid old habits. It’ll be hard until it’s not. Then it could feel really good.

You’ve got this.  Things aren’t getting easier. So, now is the time.

Offering this with huge Love and Care.

Unleashing the Wild Man.  Our soul wants to be alive.

When not living in line with our Soul it messes with us.  Comes out sideways.

One of those sideways ways is Depression.  Lots of people choosing the route of Depression.

Not honoring our Vital Life Force.  When you don’t do that, your system falls in line with a lower vibration energy.

Stepping into the Wild unknown.  Van Life is a constant experience of being open to the experience that is wanting to come through. It’s about listening and allowing the mystery to unfurl in exactly the way it’s going to.

Takes courage to step in. Have to find the energy, the conviction to step towards the difficulty. Because that is honoring the medicine that is offering insight.  Life is not working, try something different.

Natural anecdote is being in connection with yourself, with the natural world. Unexpressed life force.

There is more that I want to say about School Shootings and what I believe to be the cause of them.  It's a lack of connection. To self. To society. It's an intense and deep lack of belonging. It is a failure of the culture to not be seeing our young people.

Again, I make the case that this is true for all young people, not just the ones who are less resourced and then head off with guns to schools.  There is also harm done by resourced kids who seem like they're doing well, they're even living a life that is in line with many conventional ways of measuring success, but they're also lost and confused and doing harm.

Getting clear on my vision. Inviting you to do the same.

Young people, young guys, are hurting. Adult men are hurting also.

What happens when your soul is caged?  When the wild man is quieter and controlled?

We are in a fight for our aliveness. The depression, anxiety, drinking, drug use, porn addiction, anger, loneliness…this is a really long and sad list. Is all about the compliance and castrating of our wild self.

Time to break free. Time to get supports in place to help free the vision. To invite the beautiful uniqueness and power of each person.

Bring our unique self is the most revolutionary and radical and meaningful act we can create.

Let’s fucking go!

I’m ready to unleash this energy into the world in a much bigger expression than currently exists. I’m looking for collaborators with equal, how about more passion and inspiration, in areas of business development, organization, leadership, marketing, etc. if you’re one of these people or know other fucking amazing humans please be in touch.

But on this morning there was another affecting. A different energy. A question. What happens when my breath isnt able to offer this?  Or at least not able to offer it in that deeply satisfying, calming way?

Then the trees. The water. The birds. The air. They spoke to me, through me.

This is drought. This is Heat waves. This is carbon pollution. This is cell and Wi-Fi. Noise pollution. Plastic. Soil pollution.  Chemicals.

Our old ways of settling are no longer. We know this adversity. We live it. Welcome.

A system In health has vibrant energy flow.  Aliveness. Nourishment. The meridians, energy conduits are open and free.

The natural world wants to thrive. Wants to flow.

Flowers grow out of cracks in the sidewalk.

So it seems my work today, and now yours, is to appreciate, remember the radiant beauty of our body, our soul, and this natural system we are a part of. Perhaps by simply appreciating and acknowledging that we’re in a moment of adversity, of beautiful transformation, of apocalypse we can breath a little deeper and feel both the restful calm and the unease.  And enjoy it all. For this is where we are.

We know we are unique incredible beings. The trouble starts when we feel we’re supposed to be something else, normal, standard, compliant, get in line. When we step out of line we get in trouble. Then we end up in the shitty dance of trying to be something we aren’t. And that’s full of confusion, depression, lethargy, and anxiety. When we’re in line with our inherent energies we’re alive. And vibrant and tough and playful.

Reggio Emilia is a teaching technique that focuses on listening to the students and honoring each students unique contribution to the world. Knowing and trusting the uniqueness of each student is the foundation of what happens in the classroom. Our stunning unique way in the world, being seen, known by teachers, adults, who listen and see with the eyes and ears of their heart is an incredible way to educate our young people. Having adults trained and focused on helping bring our genius alive is a beautiful way to get us ready for our Rite of Passage as a teenager.

There are some other things that are important to focus on, that include:

Treating our Body as a temple. Knowing how to nourish ourselves, exercise, take care of ourselves. Feel strong, vibrant and capable of self care.

Mindfulness - Meditation - being with self. Sitting quietly and not being distracted

Connection - to self, others, making friends, connections with humans and the elements of the world

Community care - gift giving, the deliciousness of supporting others.

Discomfort & adversity

The only place to begin here is with deep honoring of all families, kids, teachers, bystanders, shooters, and all the natural world witnesses of tragic events.

As I've thought about all the school shootings, I notice that all the shooters are young men.  Young men who I would consider under-resourced. They tend to not come from wealthy families, tend not to have parents around, tend to be towards the lower end of socio-economic scales.

The curiosity then enters, what about the resourced kids? The ones with money and access to education?  Those kids are equally as caught in the shittiness of this patriarchal capitalistic culture as the other kids, they just have more access to resources.

I make the case that when resourced kids follow the rules, go to elite colleges, are equally as disconnected to their hearts and souls, and end up doing the bidding of the corporations because they are intelligent, "well educated", and equally as confused that the do more damage to people and the natural world as the school shooters.

And, and, and are often held up as models of success by the culture.  They are lauded as successful people, making loads of money, and living THE life.

This feels really dangerous and problematic for me.  Give a listen.  It's disquieting. At least it is for me.

The other day trying to catch a connection at Denver International Airport, I was on and off a series of moving walk ways. As I said to my friend, the dismount is crucial.  I've learned that a deep knee bend allows me to keep my stride going and moving fast. Without the knee bend, it's a whole different story of either slowing down way to much to avoid tripping, or some sort of inelegant  end to the ride.

When we have an experience of Wholeness, a weekend workshop, a festival, a beautiful learning experience, the return to "normal" life is always interesting and important.

I remember this from camp as a kid. I LOVED camp. It was the best part of my year.  Then the return was always heartbreaking.  When I worked at SuperCamp and The Road Less Traveled, the young people would have extraordinary, life changing experiences, then would be dropped off back into their regularly scheduled programming.

The challenge with this is that here you are with these feelings of wholeness, of aliveness, of being closer to our soul mission and aliveness as you've ever been, and then it's Tuesday. And Wednesday. And there are challenging feelings.

Here is an episode of my tenderness on the other side of the Arkadia festival as I find myself settling into Van Life.  I'm full of feelings and working to integrate the experience and allow myself to be present and with myself.  Enjoy.

I just purchased a van and am beginning to live Van Life.

This morning the creek called me back to the water.  Why do I need to brace, to get myself ready to get into cold water? Why is this experience different than getting into a "normal" shower. I don't have to brace or do my special breathing to be able to have that experience.  I don't have to get myself ready to brush my teeth or drink water or eat a peach.  I just do it.

So what would it be to just have the experience of being in the water. How can I train my mind or my body to be in the water.

This episode explores this sensory landscape.

Then, I couple it with a new curiosity about tantric touch and intimacy and having the sensations that I'm having. while touching another human being, or myself  Being in the moment and enjoying sensitivity. Breathing and allowing in the sensory experience.

This is going to get interesting!

A beautiful episode recorded in Olympia, Washington. I share about intuition and how to listen to our inner knowing. Tuning the radio dial to a station that feels right. Turning down the volume on the fear station and turning up the volume on the inner knowing, trusting dial.

Knowing the feeling when your soul has left the building and it’s time to move to something new.  Takes courage and deep listening.

Welcome.  Jack Kammer has a podcast called Men Are Talking and Good Will Towards Men. He cares deeply about men’s issues and brings his heart and passion for making sure men are treated well in the world.  This is a good conversation, a meaningful conversation that, with a bow to Jack and his style, I am going to allow to speak for itself.  Thank you for listening to the Beyond and remember to listen well. To Listen Beyond.

A big thank you to Jack and the energy he brings to the world. Here are my take aways from this episode.

  1. Nuanced connection with complexity is meaningful. Fun. Significant.
  2. Disagreement inside connection feels real.
  3. Our stories. How we get to where we are matters. We each have our unique perspective to bring, and it’s important that we do just that.
  4. Treating people well, making things safe for them matters.
  5. Being a white skinned man is challenging, and beautiful, and nuanced.

Thank you for listening to this episode of Beyond, where we continue to work our way towards our own self-discovery and awareness. We are very interested in your reflections. Leave a comment or email me at beyond@morganrich.com

How does this land for you? What questions do you have? What else would be meaningful for us to consider?

Wishing you a day filled with curiosity and feeling connected.  Beyond podcasts are released on Mondays and Wednesdays, so until next time…

Here is what I am taking from today.

  1. This transition of my dear Sylvie heading off to her next adventure is big for her, and me.
  2. I’m grateful for my friends and all I’ve done and we’ve done to cultivate meaningful connection
  3. Asking for help is vulnerable and meaningful
  4. When we take risks and allow discomfort, magic happens.
  5. I think the idea that being alive isn’t about feeling good, it’s more about feeling deeply feels really important
  6. There are places in me that remain caught in trying to solve things, needing problems to work on…I’m grateful to be seeing it more. Wait, is my framing it this way me trying to solve something in me I want to be different…
  7. I’m eager to slow down. Listen. How about we do that together. Listen well. Listen Beyond.

The graduation party we talked about in the episode was meaningful. Sylvie embraced me being my fun self, and doing my Morgan thing. She asked for us to sing to her and her friends…and this was deeply touching for me.

Bob Pavlich a man I used to work with would start every meeting with “how are the children?”  Bob, the children are not well. They are hurting.

This episode is about Rich Roll and his journey, and me and mine. I recorded it the day before the recent shooting in Texas. And I realized this episode is about the state of our young people.

I can now see my lens, from privilege, from my resource. From my experience of going to private schools and being part of that culture. The story that is told here is about when what happens when young people are not seen, when we value grades, test scores, college names, more than human beings, we have outcomes of stories  like Rich’s story. Like my story, where we go down a road of depression, confusion, self destruction, under utilized potential, suicide, lots and lots of therapy, and a societally acceptable kind of harm (one where we can blame individuals for not taking advantage of their opportunities).

In some cases, the acting out causes great harm. Look at our suicide rate. The drug and alcohol use on college campuses and in HS.

But when people get missed, where there is no one there to see, listen to, know, help, guide, catch young people where there is less privilege, it can end up as a school shooting. And this past week, it did.

The energetics behind it are the same. The children are not well. We have lost our way.

And there are a lot of us brining our hearts to the world. Being willing to feel deeply. The discomfort. This gives me hope.  And there are places like SuperCamp, where I worked for many years. It’s not perfect, but is is meaningful. It’s marketed as an academic summer camp, but its actually about people. A place where we see all the potential and aliveness in our young people. We create the safe places where we get to bring our vulnerability, all the stories or hurt, loneliness…all the real stuff in people lives.   When there is a container that offers safety, people share. When we share then we don’t act out.

Listen deeply to this story about how I and Rich got caught in the College Acceptance Derby - the colonial capitalistic model of success.  He falls into line, betrays himself, and when he does he falls into his addiction. Losing the potential of what he could have become.

Potential. When I look into the world now, what I see is all the potential, the creativity, the care, the heart, the passion, the curiosity, the stunning desire to be fully in the world…and I feel the incredible wave coming as we allow, invite, this potential to be expressed in the world.

Listen well. With the ears of your heart. Listen Beyond.

Here is what I’m taking from this “That’s Me” episode.

  1. Caring, being  matters. There is a different way for us to be in connection with each other.
  2. Let us slow down. Pay attention.
  3. Yet another window into my privilege. My perspective being the white skinned, cisgender, man that I am. And that the same missing of seeing people, this same focused elsewhere energy in less privileged situations manifests in different ways. I believe we can and want to do this differently.
  4. Thinking about SuperCamp is important, because it reminded me how special it was to be in that space with people. How safe and incredible it was to exist in that potential with people.
  5. Time to create a new way beyond the colonial capitalistic model of success.
  6. There is so, so much potential lost in feeling alone and lost.
  7. Kelly is doing very meaningful work in the world. Rich is working hard, finding his way, and doing meaningful work in his internal and external world.
  8. I am grateful to be a conduit for all this energy, all this care to come into the world. There is so, so much more…and stay tuned and listen well. Listen Beyond.

Rock climbers know how to keep each other safe. Before they climb, they ask "spotters ready" and they wait for a response, "spotters ready!" before climbing.  This then allows them to climb with full heart, knowing that their spotter is paying attention and keeping them safe.

There is also a beautiful call that says "That's Me!"

So, this is me.  Fully expressed. Bringing my full self and in the powerful place of offering the perspective that is uniquely Morgan.

Rick Brodner is a dear friend. Who along with his partner, Cindy, have been gracious and delightful hosts to my visits to Portland in recent months. Rick and I are part of the Powerful, Present, and Loving Circle - a group of friends.

Rick is recently retired and is in the beatiful and courageous expression of being still, allowing each moment to emerge, and not jump or somehow lunge into retirement feeling like there is something to do, or somewhere to go or some bucket list that needs to be addressed. He brings calm, contemplative, perspective and consistently invites me to check my assumptions, particularly about the patriarchy, privilege, and the importance of alternative perspective. It is a pleasure to invite you into one of the many conversations that we have about life, death, living, dying, and everything in between.

What I am taking away from this conversation with Rick

  1. Meaningful friendship is a gift. To be able to explore, be seen, share honestly, be provoked, and feel cared for matters.
  2. There is nothing to solve, and getting beyond our desire to make everything a problem will open things up tremendously
  3. We have got to stop trying to solve problems, and instead sit in the magic of the present moment, even when it’s uncomfortable and allow what is to be what is.
  4. There is no where to get to
  5. We are immersed in our patriarchal privilege and it’s unraveling
  6. Our way of knowing isn’t the only way of knowing. Far far from it. And this is hard for us to acknowledge.
  7. I’m having a blast in the Beyond.

Thank you for listening. We’d love your questions, reflections, and contributions. Please do email at beyond@morganrich.com

In this episode Jesse and I talk lots about our privilege. We’ve done so quietly for a long time in many ways, trying to figure out how to be with ourselves and be ourselves. We are tender hearted, caring, powerful human beings who want connection and to live with integrity.  We are also both resourced, cisgender men, expensively educated, and have white skin. We believe that we have each chosen to be here at this time in history, in these unique bodies, with these exact experiences, and are committed to living our souls purpose, our destiny, our unique life that only we can live. We want to do that with aliveness and consciousness.

You are invited into our exploration of the important territory of how to live with our privilege and resource.

We decided that it’s time for us to bring our voices forth and see what happens.  The Beyond is not about having answers or being right, it’s about crawling around in the muck, feeling deeply, bringing curiosity, and being willing to be vulnerable as we find our way. I was powerfully impacted this week by a story from Bayo Akomolafe, who shared the wisdom that now is not a time for creation, there is no way for us to know what to create or what structures, paths, etc, will or should look like.  He suggested that the work of today is to sit in the unraveling, to be in the discomfort of apocalypse, and enjoy the mystery.

Jesse and I are attempting to be in this beautiful, powerful, uncomfortable unraveling. We are curious about the terrain that exists beyond privilege. Today we ask, How do we get beyond, or find a different relationship with, or become aware of the patriarchal energies that surround us like the air we breathe.

Jesse brings such deep intelligence and care to these conversations. If you haven’t yet followed his substack, I recommend it. jessekjohnson.substack.com

So there we have it, our attempt to be in this beautiful, powerful, uncomfortable unraveling. Sharing about the terrain that exists beyond privilege. Hopefully we are now a little further beyond, in that different relationship with, becoming aware of the patriarchal energies that surround us like the air we breathe.

Here are my take aways from this episode.

  1. Jesse’s reflection about being a light at the end of a dark tunnel. It’s am image that is sticking with me.
  2. Finding the place in us (in me) that is capable of disagreeing, of not knowing, of feeling off, and being with myself enough (I call it not getting lost) that I can remain and deepen connection!
  3. I am very interested in the terrain where all our conventions break down and the seen and unseen patriarchal, privileged  ways of measuring success, status, and well being are distant memories.  That feels like the light I want to hold.
  4. These conversations are ongoing - there are so many trails. Trails I wish I had followed while recording. It is so tempting for me to go back and edit/change/add, but Beyond is a living entity. I trust the way it flows, the way it unfolds, the way we work our way into these tender, important places inside of an episode and from episode to episode. From moment to moment.
  5. As I listened back on this podcast, I learned the importance of trusting my body and my in the moment experience. There were many moments when I wish we had paused, taken some breaths, and listened to the moment…now I know.
  6. Looking at our shame and guilt is a gateway into learning, and our own agency and relationship with ourself.  Honor that I do damage and be in healthy relationship with it.  Not separate from suffering.
  7. True Power. Expanding Power. Lets get into the territory of being connected and taking amazing care of each other. Where we know and care about each other. I want to live in that world.
  8. This is important. Lets keep exploring.

Last weekend I was a hanging with my awesome friends - awesome older dudes. Great men. And of course we got to talking, and we got right into a massively significant topic. Dishes. Dishes now. Dishes in our earlier years.

The main trust was when and how dishes get done. Whether they get done before or after a meal. Whether they interfere with serving food hot - this was a split decision. I want the dishes DONE before sitting down to eat and it can interfere with my food being hot…which annoys me, but I can’t seem to stop once I have my hands on a pot. Brent, however can stop on queue and get at his piping hot food with his extra big spoon of course. See I get caught in the smoothie philosophy - get it clean RIGHT AWAY or it’s way more work later. I don’t do later well. But the soaking philosophy is relevant also David reminded us. We spent a good amount of time on these important issues. These things matter.

Then there was a pause and I let the guys know that I have a podcast episode coming with Theo - Theo the amazing Game player, and insightful Gen Z spokesman from episode 9 - where we discuss, wait for it. Dishes. He brings them up…he too wants to discuss dishes. We’re clearly on to something here.

But Theo, being Theo, takes this to a different level with the idea that moving from left to right is more standard because that’s how we read English, and what happens when we do things - dishes, game design, life - moving from right to left, including a cure for depression.

Finally, because how can we not keep going here. Theo and I hilariously work to figure out if the orbit of the earth around the sun is always counter clockwise…you’ll have to listen and wait for us to get up from under our desks to find out.

This is really fun. You will enjoy this and as you listen, please take my uncles advice to heart, “when you do the dishes, do the dishes.” So here we are in the Beyond. And so when you’re here in the Beyond, be in the Beyond. This awesome place for Lion Hearted men. I have a feeling you’ll soak up this episode up like a sponge.

Lets get out the dish soap and the brush and clean this up. I hope you enjoyed this playful episode. Here are my take aways

  1. Perspective matters - when we look at things from a different perspective, it has an impact and changes things
  2. Dishes can tell you a lot about people
  3. I’m going to think more about doing things right to left, up and down, and all around (I actually do this when I do my Kundalini yoga each morning)
  4. I love my people…they’re awesome
  5. Theo is a great game strategist, player, and has lots to learn about dishes…we all have our special abilities
  6. Dads are amazing and we love when they visit
  7. I’ve got work to do, but I’m going to practice letting ‘em soak so I can enjoy my hot food
  8. Water. Doing dishes well is lots about saving as much water as possible and honoring the water that we do use - that we get to share this miraculous moment together. There is the base level of keeping the water off while soaping/scraping.

Thank you for listening to the Beyond, this adventure for Lion Hearted men.

I want to share a story of a friend of mine, who did something incredibly courageous today.  And my doing so, is Creating ripples in a profound and meaningful way.

By doing so he is creating a safe place for young people, because he is speaking into a culture of half-ness and desiring/standing for wholeness. He is speaking truth to power. He is risking his well being because his heart is full and whole.

By doing this, he finds his story. And when we don’t have our story, we fall into all the false narratives of the day, we are susceptible to being afraid of the world, we feel alone, and can’t find our way to wholeness. Patrick cracks the story of silence and pretending that everything is okay because he found his connection to his heart.

This may seem simpler but in todays world it is a revolutionary action. One that shakes the core of the system, it threatens the status quo, because knowing your story invites others to know theirs.  It invites us to look at what is not working and allow that to fully sink in, then we enter the delicious, mysterious terrain of re-imagining what is possible.

I will offer soon stories and reflections I call: My Cock, My Balls, My Heart.

In this moment, the most significant impact of his story is that my friend Patrick found his heart and had the balls to put his thrust in to the world, by speaking into the uncomfortable space at work.

The Chaos workshop

  • What will the men bring
  • Loads of reactions.
  • Got to listen and have many conversations

Actually started before that at a mens retreat

  • The small cock club
  • The no cock club

My Cock.

  • Size doesn’t matter.  Intimacy matters.
  • Horrible foundational belief in the culture.
  • Circumcision.

My Cock. My Balls. My Heart.

  • what it’s really about is each of us living our unique lives with our bodies and lives, having the courage, the balls, to bring ourselves to the world, our thrust.  And knowing that we are deeply connected to our hearts, so when we live our lives, we create connection - self, others, the natural world.

Welcome.  As I sat in meditation this morning, I was asked to share. Clarity swept over me about my reaction in massively tragic situations. Situations where there is a huge amount of energy being generated through aggressive actions, big feelings, and acts of passion and intensity.

Today my reactions are to the recent mass shootings, 9-11, drinking by young people, sexual assault, and what it is to be a heart centered person in the world today. These have been tied together in me to share with you. The thrust of the weaving is finding out way to sit in the difficulty and inconvenience of these situations and see the unseen, feel the unfelt, and open to our own shadow.

With a humble and heartfelt bow today, I invite you to listen and breathe.

I want to live in a world where we take good care of each other. I want to live in a world where there are not young people, young men particularly, who are in so much pain that they imagine going to a school and shooting kids is somehow a good idea. I want to live in a world where we are all seen, understood to such a degree that we are filled with wholeness and hope.

Lets have conversations about new paradigms. Lets direct our energy at figuring out how to help our kids feel healthy and alive. Lets know our kids, all kids. And while we're at it, lets know adults, including each other. When people feel seen and that they belong, they don't buy guns and shoot people.

My contribution to the current narrative is not to jump into the gun control debate. From this energy body, from my feeling body, that is a tired distraction. Getting mad at each other and blaming the other side is more of the same song and dance we've been doing. And I don't see that it's working very well. Fighting about right and wrong, and all THOSE people is not the world that I want to live in.

So, when my felt experience of the shooting is compassion and seeing everyone in the situation, including the shooter, as a victim I pay attention. There is some energy that is finding me and wanting to be shared with the world.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for listening and I hope you find this interesting.

With deep, caring blessings to all the victims of the current circumstances of the events in this modern world.

Welcome to Beyond. The podcast for Lionhearted men. This is a hugely important discussion and one that inhabits my heart these days. Discomfort.

Learning to be uncomfortable is perhaps the most significant muscle to build in todays world. If you are not able to deal with adversity, challenges, and uncertainty, you are really going to struggle in the world today. Whether it be the challenge of not being good at something as you just learn it, to failing at something you care about, getting injured, not getting something you want, a natural disaster, an illness, inconvenience, or death. You must learn to face the difficult moments of life…that is where all the significant learning happens.

At the heart of all learning is discomfort.

This is a wild time we have chosen to be alive. To inhabit our unique human bodies, and in these wonderfully apocalyptic times, rooted in the thrill of being alive and stepping into, not away from uncomfortable situations is where you find meaning and fulfillment.

My young friend Jordan Zimmerman is back and we dive into our own discomfort,  and share about our ways of training and getting ourselves ready for the powerful mystery in an effort to guide you, to invite you, to inspire you.

As we begin Please do be aware Jordan and I discuss our own experiences with suicide and death in this episode.

Thank you for listening to Beyond - conversations with my friends. I’m glad you’re here to explore this terrain.

Welcome to the Beyond - the podcast for lionhearted men. Spending time in meaningful conversations with young people is an absolute honor for me.

I love hearing their rawness. Their honesty. I love getting beyond the bullshit and platitudes and surface level crap.  I am deeply humbled and excited that I’ve found my way to allowing my curiosity, my authenticity, my listening to create the space for real connection and deep dives. I believe it creates significant, essential space for our young people to feel seen, feel safe, and bring their wholeness alive.

My most sincere belief is that all young people crave these kinds of real conversations, where they can bring themselves. Fully. Raw. Exposed. Passionate. And feel safe and grateful for the opportunity not have another meaningless, shallow holiday party kind of experience that insults their intelligence and creates serious dissonance.

Today’s conversation is with Theo Andrew. Theo is a magical, brilliant game creator and player. If ever you get the chance to play a game with him it will be an experience that will live with you forever. And he is stuck. Caught in a world asking him to jump through all the hoops…and he hates and sucks at hoops, so his brilliance, his passion, and his aliveness is stuck. It leaves me deeply driven to unlock the potential and incredible ness of our young people.

Come along as Theo shares the mindset of Generation Z, the hopelessness, the frustration, the powerlessness…ugh. Then we turn it towards creating new pathways, new imaginings, and what might happen if we unleashed his gifts!

I hope you enjoy this unfiltered glimpse into the challenging adventure our young people are living through. A real conversation. The real struggle. The deep desire for a life beyond, Beyond struggle. Beyond hoops.  Thank you for caring, for listening, and welcome to The Beyond - conversations with my friends.

Today you will be treated to the tenderness and power of friendship. Jesse and I work our way towards the incredible and vulnerable territory of how to be the dads we want to be, how to support our kids to be themselves, and our own loving friendship.

We begin with a wild and curious reflection about Revolution, that will surely inspire reflection. As I’ve listened to this episode, what keeps working me and I hope provokes you, is an inquiry about how we got to the place where differences we feel with people shifted from not liking an idea to the dangerous territory of not liking the person. We wonder into how existing in this territory limits our giving our gifts, limits who we become, and holds tremendous potential energy because we both know incredible people in the world caught in or by judgement and fear.

Our current paradigm clearly isn’t working. If we stay here, we’re fucked. But there are other paradigms.  Jesse and I welcome you into our efforts to create something different. We talk about sports, the education system, how to create meaningful relationship with self and others, and we end up in a tender, powerful space of connection.

My hope is to model the kinds of connection between men that is available and revolutionary.  It takes trust, courage, and deep listening. I’m grateful for my friendship with this thoughtful, humble, powerful man, and believe you’ll be able to feel and hear what is possible Beyond, when we venture from the status quo, from normal, and allow in the energy and presence that the two of us believe is the only way forward.  I trust you will be deeply touched, moved, and inspired by this episode of the Beyond podcast - real conversations with my friends.

Hello my friends and welcome to Beyond. The conversation today is another exploration with my young friend Jordan.  Jordan has had quite a journey with many ups and downs, and to his immense credit, through the tough moments he has become a passionate advocate for aliveness. He has a beautiful heart and continues to explore how to get his voice and gifts into the world. Our connections include group work, occasional walks, and deep recorded talks that we want to share with you.

Our exploration on this day begins with awareness of War in the world. Abroad and at home, the desire to fight each other, to be on the right side, to other people is very present in our world today. Jordan and I believe there is another way, a way into the Beyond.

You will be invited to reflect with us about:

  • Being connected to, not separate from, the natural world
  • Living beyond standard, simple conversations, in the Beyond - the land of different perspectives and possibilities
  • Why are real conversations uncomfortable? How to create them?
  • The power of honoring your desires, living your aliveness, and being in your highest alignment - and the potential sacrifices
  • Why people are miserable
  • You’ll hear us use “I” statements, trying to speak from our experience and not make generalizations

The invitation into seeing the world differently and engaging with self, others, and the more than human world feels essential for how we move forward. This kind of real conversation and new paradigm hopefully provides hope and offers an imagining of what is possible when we engage in life beyond status quo interactions and choices.

Please accept this invitation, this offer to open options, open places in ourselves, and learn to be in the incredible discomfort and juiciness of nuance. So yes, another rich and important connection. I hope you enjoy this episode of the Beyond podcast - real conversations with my friends.

Wow. Just wow.

What an honor to spend time with this lion-hearted young man. Jordan Zimmerman is committed to speak truth to power, to bring his conviction and his heart to the world. He is a stand for people finding their way to happiness, meaning, and fulfillment.  He wants to spend his Saturday nights talking about real stuff, getting into those deep, amazing conversations, and create amazing connection…and he invites his friends into that space over and over again, offering them a different path than getting drunk and numbing everything.

His journey has been a hard one. He has faced his darkness and he’s on a mission to do life differently.  I love. Love. Love spending time with Jordan. We get into all kinds of juicy territory when we connect.

On this particular dive there is no bullshit. There is no fucking around with the nonsense of playing half way. To turn find our way to a meaningful life, we’ve got to be having different conversations, different interactions, different relationships with ourselves, that are beyond the half world that wants to check out and be numb.  We’re seeking connection with the aliveness and knowing that lives in us. There is no room for half way here as we talk sports, but not watching sports. We get into the gifts of playing and trying to be the best athlete, no the best person, you can be. Inside this we get into fulfillment, and fun!  Long term AND short term wins, and how much resistance there is in people to get into the tough places. Wow do we have to learn to hang in discomfort. That is so so clear.

There is so much here. Passion, care, honesty…it is just so juicy and important.

You are going to love and be deeply impacted by this conversation.  Thank you for listening and be ready. Here comes Jordan and here we go into Beyond - real conversations with my friends. Enjoy.

Hello my friends and welcome to Beyond. The conversation today is one in what will be a series of explorations with my friend Jesse, as we learn to share our heart felt reflections. As we embark on what we consider overdue. A courageous, and hopefully meaningful, sharing of our journey in making sense of our world today.

Our focus in this connection begins with awareness of War in the world. Abroad and at home, the desire to fight each other, to be on the right side, to other people is very present in our world today. Jesse and I believe there is another way, a way into the Beyond.

Expect to wonder about

  • How to engage the power of conflict to generate connection, collaboration, and expand community.
  • How we come together in these times, not tear apart
  • How to heal the war inside ourselves
  • What happens beyond the paradigm of destruction and the moral high ground
  • How we invite in and anchor the energy of aliveness, peace, and connection like a orchestra conductor
  • How to find our way to bigger questions, different perspectives, and ownership on the path beyond normal

This territory is important because we are lured into fighting constantly, we too easily use it to define our identity. “I am this or that, are you with me or against me?” We are swimming in waters and breathing the air of being on the right side of the fight. Our movies, our news, our politics all ask us to choose sides.  Jesse and I want to offer ways to accept the poet Rumi’s invitation,

“Out Beyond Right doing and wrong doing, out beyond right and wrong, out beyond fighting, there is a field, lets meet, lets explore, lets dance on this beautiful land. “

Hopefully you’ll want to join us for the dance, the laughter, the playfulness, the beautiful discomfort this field out Beyond offers. So yes, today is really cool and important and I hope you enjoy this episode of the Beyond podcast - real conversations with my friends.

Welcome.  I’m hopeful you are on the journey to live your aliveness. That you are looking out at world and saying both “No thank you. This is not working.” And “How incredible to be alive at this time, this powerful and incredible time of beautiful, creative revolution, apocalypse, and reimagining ways to care. What an incredible opportunity.”

Beyond is for those  ready to imagine, find, create a new way forward. Those who wants to break some rules, to lead, to get messy and into the amazing nuance as you share your unique way, talent, brilliance, spunk with us, with the world. Those for whom the status quo, for going back to normal simply will not do.

I’ve been confused and quiet for a long time.

So here I am inviting you into all the conversations that I’ve always wanted to have.  I hope you enjoy these explorations as much as I do. Please dive in.

This episode will set the stage and give you an overview of topics we’ll explore and the basic format.

I’ll share today about

• Deep Meaningful Conversations

• Stepping outside the grip of external validation

• The territory of the Beyond and what I imagine to be New Ways

• New Masculine energy

• Beyond as a prayer, a practice, a way, an invitation, an imagining, a place of connection, a fellowship

Thank you for being here. As I like to say, Thank You for Being You. The Unique being that you are, having made the powerful, courageous choice to be alive in these dynamic times.  I’m glad you are here. Welcome to Beyond. Enjoy.

Deep Meaningful Conversations

Always was the guy who wanted to have deep meaningful conversations and connections.  I wanted to spend Friday night talking, not partying. Exploring ideas,

Being Morgan - outside the grip of external validation

Recently finding myself outside of the need to prove myself with external validation and structure. Of needing the approval of the cultural world, and instead getting clear that the life I have to live is Morgan’s. That’s the only life I can live and judging my worthiness based off of others success and the stories of what I believe I am supposed to be, has lost it’s grip on me.  So I’m here to explore  and share this exploration.

Beyond the status quo and normal

The current paradigm we’re playing here in the US is not working. It’s time for a different paradigm, a new way, so I offer the Beyond.

We will explore the beautiful place where deep connection happens, with self, others, and the more than human world.

New Ways - Wholeness, Full Pictures, Being with what is, Being in the Uncomfortable, Ripe moments

Speak up and stop betraying ourselves with silence, that keeps everything safe and status quo.

Seems simple. Bringing the whole picture to the table, setting it on the table, and then

Masculine Energy - Feminine Energy

Not being an asshole.  Not being meek.  Learning host to bring our lion hearts forward into the world.

Time to step into, not away from the challenges and beauty of the day. Time to bring the whole picture with all the variables into awareness. Time to step Beyond, into new ways. The current way, the current paradigm just isn’t working - people are miserable, we keep fighting, young people feel no hope, and we just keep pretending that we can keep doing the same thing and our lives will change. It’s like continuing to rack up credit card debt thinking that someday some thing will magically change if we just keep going.

Beyond as a prayer, a practice, a way, an invitation, an imagining, a place of connection, a fellowship

Beyond is for those  ready to imagine, to find, to create a new way forward. Those who want to break some rules, to lead, to get messy and into the amazing nuance of life. Those in between places, the real conversations with all perspectives considered. We are here to get good at being uncomfortable.  We are here to get good at sharing your unique way, your talent, your brilliance, your spunk with us. And with the world. Those for whom the status quo does not work. For those who going back to normal simply will not do.

Beyond. An incredible imaginal and real place. A place of aliveness. Beauty. Connection.

We are in powerful, beautiful, necessary apocalyptic and revolutionary times.  Times when we have to embrace the incredible power of death, and life. And life and death. Times when we realize that to re-create systems that work, the old systems have to die. Beyond is a commitment to explore how we hospice the death of the old ways and midwife the birth of new, incredible, powerful paradigms, ideas, possibilities that create hope. That create change. That gives us reason to live.

I want to guide us on a journey of creation, where we imagine and create new ways of doing things. I aim for it to be a playful, fun, meaningful, provocative time where we get into all kinds of juicy trouble.   I want to be a stand for you to feel challenged, to try new things, to feel inspired to become your most powerful self. Because when we all get there, amazing things can happen.

I want to inspire connection with yourself, between one another,  and with this incredible more than human world.

I want you to know that being your unique self is the most revolutionary act you can commit. And I want to help you deepen your understanding of yourself, your daily practice, and how to be in the world.

I’ve always been a guy who wants to have important, inspired conversations, to dive deep, to feel. To figure out how to talk about the stuff that isn’t being talked about. Because it’s uncomfortable. Because it’s inconvenient. Because we don’t know how. The intention is to help you remember that get to be the heart centered person you are. And that you know how.

We are here to do the opposite of pretend. We are here to stand in beautiful discomfort of todays Biggest, Most Important Questions.  To not pretend and to As long as I can remember I have been questioning how and why we’re doing what we’re doing, and in my child like hope and belief that we’ll take good care of each other, of our home, of this planet, of all beings.

We are not here to argue, we are here to explore and be curious.

Here is Season 1, you will find several different kinds of episodes.  There are solo episodes, there are conversations with my friends, and there will be some interviews.  You can learn more about these in episode 2, where I dive deeper into what we’re up to here.

So. There we have it.  You are introduced. The Beyond is here.

Welcome to Beyond. Now, lets dive on in.
