In this episode, we talk about how we can lose whimsy and joy as we get older and dont work through some of our traumas.
Noah shares his experience with losing joy and whimsy, while Kye talks about how he has been able to keep it
This week we pulled out a reel from Pharrell
Where he talks about surrounding yourself with people that are faster, stronger, better skilled at whatever you want to get better at.
You have to get uncomfortable to get better
In this episode we dive into the masculine and feminine characteristics of humanity.
Noah had shared a reel with Kye about the femininity of the mother taking care of the child can help breed a more resilient adult later on.
But we had some words to share about that situation and about child development as well as the misconceptions of masculinity and femininity
Have a listen and let us know what you think!

Noah posted a reel with Jocko Willink talking about controlling your emotions. If you lash out in anger or frustration, you will not be taken seriously, according to Jocko.
So in order to stay calm in a situation where you can lash out, we have to learn to control our emotions vs let our emotions control us

Today we recap Noahs journey and his amazing transformation
Then we dive into a reel that exposes how much our prefrontal cortex plays in how we process our emotions
In this episode, we dive deeper into Noah's weight loss journey and talk deeply about the emotional and mental piece of weight loss that so many people do not talk about
We hope that this brings value you to you and that you share it with people you know who struggle with losing weight and have tried so many different diets, programs and protocols
We always start talking about what we just talked about on the podcast and should have just kept recording...
So here is what we talked about after last weeks podcast
Noah has been on his weightloss journey and has gotten a lot of questions about it
Got more questions? let us know @chasingfunction on instagram
Kye recently took a trip down to Tennessee to go see a Regenerative Agriculture Farm and talks about his experience with the slower, laid back lifestyle
We often forget that life and nature are so beautiful and amazing. Sometimes we really do need to just stop and smell the roses
We had gotten a question about how we got to where we are with emotional work.
We both share our journeys into emotional work and how we utilize it in our practices respectively
In this episode we had some follow up questions to Noahs journey with Semaglutide or mostly known as Ozempic
What was the experience like coming off of Semaglutide and were there any repercussions
We also talked about some growth hormones like Tesamorelin and Ipamorelin
In this episode we get into Peptides, specifically Semiglutide and how it relates to weight loss
Noah has had his experience with this type of peptide and wanted to share what he has studied as well as experienced utilizing this modality
We will be holding an instagram live on our feed to have a Q&A so be on the lookout @chasingfunction
Let us know what you think and send in any questions in advance!
Noah had a bit of a rough night with the healthcare system and wanted to share his experiences
Give it a listen and let us know what you think?
Today we decided to bring on our baseball players because there were a lot of questions about food and supplementation
So we went over basic nutrition guidelines to help them understand how to plan for their seasons and moving up in competition
In this episode we dive into pain and disassociation and how big of a problem it truly is
This may be the thing that has been holding you back from getting out of pain and into a space of solvency
Check it out and let us know what you think
In this episode, we talk about some reels that we have seen about villifying the deadlift
But we have so many reasons and case studies that show that deadlifting can be a great tool to use for any age and that we just need to level up as practitioners to be able to coach our clients and patients to doing them safely and effectively
We found a very interesting Facebook/Instagram Reel that went well with a conversation that Noah had with one of his patients relationship with their son.
In this episode we talk about parenting, love languages, love tanks and much more
We would love to hear your thoughts!
In this episode we talk about Noah's experience with doctors and the different issues there are around that.
We mention a lot of different doctors that are making a big impact in the world of hormones and diseases. One of them being Dr. Gabrielle Lyon
-> here is a link to her website https://drgabriellelyon.com/
Noah also mentions the company that he goes to for his bloodwork testing as well as prescription support
-> https://transcendcompany.com/
This weeks episode is a little deep but a very good conversation
Kye has been on a binge of Sadhgurus content and came across a very profound question that Sadhguru posed in one of his interviews
Have a listen and let us know what you think
This episode we share a client testimonial from Noah. A lot to dive into and lots of emotions went into this one
We hope that you have gotten some value from it and hope to provide you with some insight on how to deal with and manage pain.
Noah had some interesting feels during this holiday season and wanted to share
He wanted to share this in hopes to help others that may be struggling with the way they process their feelings
So if you are struggling and need some help, please reach out to someone you love, someone you trust or a professional that will be able to provide you with the tools to help you
Happy New Year and lets go make 2023 the best year ever!
This episode was brought on by an instagram video that was forwarded to Noah by his co workers.
Both Noah and Kye have very strong opinions on how the health and wellness world has laid out the education as well as these "instagram influencers" that are providing information that may be detrimental in the future
So we are not here to say that these influencers are wrong or bad. We want to start a conversation around the knowledge and information about our human bodies and how they function, so that you can make better informed decisions about the info you hear from these influencers
So this episode, Kye has many thoughts that have kept him up at night and wanted to get all of it out
Noah has some more knowledge in the area but even the experts in the field are still not 100% sure about nutrition
But as we always say, it depends. Are we really supposed to know 100% about nutrition? maybe...maybe not
Either way we want this to be an eye opening discussion about how we view food and what it means for our bodies
We would love to hear your thoughts
Today we get into the heart, and what we normally hear about heart disease and all the other things that go along with that.
But we are hoping to change your mind about the heart and hope that it brings some value to you and shifts your way of thinking about heart disease and what you can do about it.
Disclaimer: we are not Doctors, nor do we give advice about medication. We are hear to provide information we have researched and to use logical progression to shift your way of thinking about your problems. So then you have sound information to make a decision about your health
In this episode we dive deep into real life situations and how things can get a little dicey when we have advice from Tik Tok and Instagram Reels.
We discuss that taking a more curious stance on the advice you hear through social media, that you can start to see what will really work for you and what may not work for you
Enjoy and please reach out to us through @chasingfunction on instagram with any feedback, questions or a chat
In this episode, we go into a IG Reel where they lay out a new paridigm of muscle centric medicine
When you start to shift your perspective of trying to "lose" weight to "gaining" muscle, things start to become easier and a lot more "healthy"
We would love to hear your thoughts
In this episode, we have another IG Reel for you and it is about stretching
While we have believed for many years that we "need" to stretch in order to create more range of motion. Recent studies have shown that stretching really isn't all that great for us
We would love to hear your thoughts
We get back to the Reels and this one was a good one! Do you actively listen to someone that has a problem or do you immediately go into solving their problem and GIVE them advice?
An extension of last weeks podcast. We are curious, what motivated you? Is it in you or outside of you?
When we think about metabolism in a different way, we can start to make some great changes towards our own health and wellbeing
In this episode, we dive deeper into what kind of changes we have seen with our clients/patients and some of the contributing factors
Some of those contributing factors are
Sleep, physical activity, gut health and food intake
What are some of the things you heard about Metabolism?
We want to show you that Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is a little bit of a better marker to help you on your health and fitness journey
Some references for you
Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy
Your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the number of calories you burn as your body performs basic (basal) life-sustaining function.
Mifflin-St Jeor Equation:
For men:
BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A + 5
For women:
BMR = 10W + 6.25H - 5A - 161
Revised Harris-Benedict Equation:
For men:
BMR = 13.397W + 4.799H - 5.677A + 88.362
For women:
BMR = 9.247W + 3.098H - 4.330A + 447.593
Katch-McArdle Formula:
BMR = 370 + 21.6(1 - F)W
But we think that the best way for you to truly measure your BMR is to find somewhere near you that will test if for you with a tube and a computer measuring your BMR or your RMR
There are places and services such as Body Spec
Here is a video to explain it and show you what it looks like in more of a clinical setting
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAiiXhyoAnc
Hopefully we have clarified our stance and brought some value to you guys. We would love to hear your thoughts on the struggle that is prevalent in our environment these days
We started off with a talk about information overload with nutrition, then we get a little lost in the weeds. But! We have a follow up episode to help bring some clarity. So be on the lookout for next week!
Kye went on a trip to Portland for some counterstrain and of course we had to talk about it and discuss the process of getting better movement and getting people out of pain
We have mixed feelings about the word "healing"
More specifically how people are using that word as a cop out or crutch.
In this episode, Noah and Kye have a few things to say about mobility and flexibility when it comes to exercise as well as mental health
We bring you a reel from Dr. Aaron Kubal, where he talks about a different approach on stretching and mobilization exercises
In this episode, Noah and I watched a Instagram Reel with some shocking statistics around walking. Now we were a bit skeptical at first but then we researched it and wow!
We suggest to find certain activities that increase your heart rate and encourage movement, it does not necessarily have to be walking. We state this in the episode, as walking could not be beneficial to some people
Yes, we are talking about genetics again but only because we believe that these diagnosis are more harmful than good. We have plenty of research and studies to help prove this point but also we use a lot of logical progression to come to these conclusions. At the end of the day it is up to you though, you have the final say in what you want to believe in and we stand behind your decision whether it aligns with ours or not.
In this episode, we get an update on what exactly Noah does and how he does it. A little bit more in depth and real live examples that have happened recently
In this episode we listen to another instagram reel, this time with Dr Joe Dispenza
We dive into thoughts and how they can effect our lives in a positive and negative way. We piggy back off the idea from last week around epigenetics.
Again, we would love to hear your thoughts about the topics we discuss
You can DM us @chasingfunction
or DM one of us directly
Noah - @root.solution
Kye - @controlthebasics
In this episode, Noah has some thoughts around Genetic Pre Disposition
Disclaimer: we are no experts in genetics or epigenetics but we have done our due diligence. We invite you to take what we say as a thought provoking conversation around genetics and epigenetics, not as prescription or advice.
We would love to hear your thoughts about these topics
You can find us on instagram @chasingfunction

Western vs Eastern medicine
Why not think about how we can compliment the two?
There are so many benefits to each discipline but also there is bad in both as well. Why not take advantage of the benefits of both worlds?
What are your thoughts?
Today we are talking about the underlying issue of BURNOUT
Have you ever felt like you were burnt out from working a job you dislike, or maybe you just aren't feeling fulfilled at the end of your day?
Jim Kwik gives us something to think about when it comes to burnout, check it out!
Here we are referencing an Instagram Reel by Dr. Aaron Kubal
There is no such thing as a bad posture, only thing that is bad about posture is the one you stay in for too long
In this episode we reference an Instagram Reel with Teal Swan
We go deep into the idea that empaths create their empathy from trauma. Why we create that type of personality and how it has effected both Kye and Noah and their experiences with it
We are back! We have been a little M.I.A but we are back and ready to record more for you guys!
We have decided to start talking about the content we send each about 40 million times a day. There are so many good content creators out there that provide awesome, thought provoking content that sparks millions of ideas in our head. So we decided to listen to an audio with you guys and give our thoughts on it to either break it down for you or at least shine a different perspective on the content.
With todays audio we talk a lot about nervous system function and dopamine as well as learning how to enjoy the process and experience we call life
Hope you guys enjoy! We also invite you to comment your thoughts and ideas!
We put ADD to rest
In this episode we share our struggles and solutions with ADD
We want to stress that the solution for ADD is constant work and determination. There is no magic pill or formula
We must first be aware of your tendencies and symptoms
Then you can implement practices that work for you and continue to develop yourself to be the best version of yourself
Flashlight(based on content) - intense focus on one thing
Flood light(alerting system)time - broader picture of focus, allows whatever comes up, in the now, something may happen be ready for it.
Executive Control - whiteboard(working memory) manager, selecting based on your goals, inhibiting irrelevant information

We talk about the biological and psychological benefits of gratitude and how we can utilize this in your life immediately
Tis the season for depression, but what is depression? In this episode we talk a lot about how to look at depression, what are some causes and how to come to a solution best fit for you Reference our Instagram post for the Nervous System Wheel that Noah talks about
Noah and Kye go into why the medical system is setting you up for failure. Why treating your symptoms rather than the root cause can actually harm you more in the long run.
We share a meme about 2 fish bowls where the water is murky and dirty. Fish bowl #1 solution was to treat the fish so that it could survive (western medicine ideology) or fish bowl #2 solution, clean the water so the first can survive (alternative ideology).
Noah shares some stories of his patients and their journey through the medical system and then Noahs solution that has ultimately helped them heal. The doctors that they were seeing were trying to treat the symptoms or had no idea how to treat the symptoms(fish bowl #1). Whereas Noahs thinking was to assess and make an educated decision on best care to help the root cause of why they have these symptoms (fish bowl #2)
Main takeaway from this is to get a practitioner who cares, that will help you become aware and educated on WHY these symptoms are happening and giving you a roadmap of healing that is congruent with the root cause.
This episode we dive into reasons why you should dig into the uncomfortability of life and not shy away from it.
Both Kye and Noah have gone through some tough times, but those situations are what shaped them and made them who they are today. They both share their personal stories about the very situations where they needed to dive deeper into their own feelings and realize that they had the power to change their situation

In this episode, Noah goes on a RANT!
Noah had been ridiculed for his hypothesis around the virus and the effects on the cranial nerves. He had been treating his patients utilizing his theory and having a lot of success with it, yet was still ridiculed. All because his theory was not backed by scientific studies.
So we talk about the different issues around only looking to studies for valid information about health and well being. We also dive into practical and logical progressions that you can utilize to make more informed decisions about your own health and well being
In this episode we dive into Cranial Nerves, a different view on Chiropractic and how the body is so well connected
Dr. Whitney is a Chiropractor located in Mission Viejo at Well Connected Chiro. She specifies in a technique called Blair Chiropractic which utilizes neurological tests and 3D x-rays that allow them to engineer a correction to the neck that is unique to each person. The adjustments are delivered in a precise and gentle manner which is why the patients love coming to Dr. Whitney!

Protection Vulnerability
Wellness Sickness
Factors that contribute either towards protection/wellness or towards vulnerability/sickness
That is my best illustration of this concept for this platform. But you can see a better idea on the instagram and facebook post
We also talked about Kye's vacation and how you can have a good strong base of protection but when you do things that we know we are not supposed to do, we have to face the consequences.
Here is a link to reference what we talked about with the Strongfit arch. Not exactly the same but the same kind of idea

The trick is to drink 1-2 glasses per day with friends and/or with food. And no you cant save up all week and have 14 drinks on Saturday Belong - All but 5 of the 263 centenarians they interviewed belonged to a faith-based community. Denomination doesnt seem to matter. Research shows that attending faith-based services four time per month will add 4-14 years of life expectancy Loved ones first - this means keeping aging parents and grandparents nearby or in the home (its lowers disease and mortality rates of children in the home too). They commit to a life partner and invest in their children with time and love Right Tribe - the worlds longest lived people chose - or were born into- social circles that supported healthy behaviors, Okinawans created “moais” - groups of five friends that committed to each other for life. In this episode we talk about Anxiety (yet again...) but this time we give you guys some objective data to go based on. Not only to see if you have anxiety but also different health markers so that we can predict health.
We mention Whoop a lot and we love the product and what the company is doing for our health and wellbeing. Go check them out at https://www.whoop.com/
We also have a group going if you have a whoop and want to join us for community and support
Our group name is Root Solution
In the next episode we will dive deeper into what "health" is and how we can measure it without going just by the way you look.
In this episode we go over how anxiety can show up in relationships and how we can manage them. Garrett also goes over the different types of attachment styles and how they can create or bring awareness to anxiety in the relationship
Also be on the lookout for Garrett's table top book coming soon!!!
In this episode we talk yet again about Anxiety, but this time we have Garrett to talk about it in a different perspective.
Garretts stance on Anxiety and how does he help people self regulate and heal their anxiety. You can find Garrett @vastcoaching and vast-coaching.com
BE A GOOD HUMAN, Noah and Kye share their experiences with really good people. Some of them being coaches, mentors, or simply just someone that really wants the best for you and gives you guidance and advice that helps you along the way. Our main takeaway for this episode is to be the change you want to see in the world, be a good human that is there to build people up rather than break them down so you feel better.
Last week we went over asking about our problem and trying to find a solution We cant go to exposure therapy first, we have to establish the problem, the why and then start the conversation about exposure therapy Exposure therapy Definition- psychological treatment that was designed to help people confront their fears, when people are fearful they tend to avoid, the feared objects. Although this avoidance might help reduce the fear, in the short term, over the long term it can make the fear become even worse From PTSD guidelines Steps how to administer
Make a list Build a fear ladder (arrange the list from least scary to most scary)
Ex length of time, time of day, environment, who is with you
Facing fears, starting with the least fearful thing on the least Practice Reward brave behavior Repeat, go to second fear etc
Scientific method 1. Observation 2. Ask a question 3. Form a Hypothesis 4. Make a prediction 5. Test prediction 6. Use result to make new prediction/hypothesis
@strongfit - nutrition protocol from previous episodes @dave.o.brien - nutrition protocol that Kye is following @thefoodbabe - Noah mentioned her for a good resource @befitlife - Kye's coach taking him through the nutrition protocol the Dave created
We finally stick a fork in Anxiety and hope that you guys have gotten a lot of value and some tools along the way!
Talking about why we aren't as Human as we think
Food, air, water, shelter and all things Human
Thought we were done? Think again, we are back with some more perspectives and tools for you to get a handle on anxiety. Thank you guys so much for you support and feedback! Keep them coming! Also be on the lookout for part 5!

In this episode we talk about being vulnerable and how powerful it is in the industry we are in but also in life in general. So many people are afraid to show their weakness or downsides but that is what makes us human and really what makes us unique.
Hopefully this episode brings some value to you and sheds some light on being vulnerable so you can go apply it in your life
In this episode we talk about the importance of foot control and feedback to our hands and feet.
We give you some simple things to do at home that can give you better control over these two very important parts of our bodies and how they are linked to different kinds of pain people experience
In this episode we talk about some things that we thought about after our interview with Victor Roman
So many lessons to be learned but if you get in your own way, there is 0% chance of learning. If you think you know everything, then there is not chance of learning something that can change your life
In this Episode we have a conversation with a good friend of Kye's from High School. Victor was an incredible athlete and was perceived as a very healthy individual. But as time would go on, he was not in the best shape that everyone thought he was. Listen in to hear his story of struggle, healing and now thriving in a new way of life!
These are words that have been misused and oversimplified in the nutrition world that we just cannot get on board with. We go into depth as to why we dont and have some solutions for you guys to start implementing
Looong overdue interview with Martina!
Such a great episode with a friend that both Noah and I met during our journey of massage school and have kept in touch with after.
Martina is such a great student, teacher, mentee, mentor and overall just a great person. She has come such a long way and both Noah and I see a huge difference in her presence and over wellbeing and we couldn't be happier for her.
Can't wait to see what is in store for this young lady in her career and in life! Enjoy the episode!
Continuation of the words we dislike about the medical world and what the actual definitions are
At the end of the day we believe the best solution is to educate the masses on what these diagnosis mean and give them proper solutions to help them heal themselves rather than go to drugs, surgery or other medical procedures that are short term fixes.
In the medical word, they have certain words for diagnosis that Noah and Kye just do not agree with. Therefore we explain what those words are, the definitions and why we dislike them so much

In this episode we interview a Collegiate athlete, Grant Calcaterra. Grant has an extraordinary story! He played at Santa Margarita Highschool and went on to play at University of Oklahoma and played 3 seasons with them and was going to be drafted. He was ranked as the nation's No. 6 Tight End, had 958 yards (No. 13 among TE's nationally), on 57 receptions as a senior. But adversity struck when he endured 3 concussions from 2018-2019. Grant has a passion for firefighting and after the 3rd concussion decided that the risk was not worth the reward, so he went on to pursue firefighting after retiring from football. A decision he made on his own, which speaks volumes of his character, especially for his age. Then after being out of football for a year, he began to see his former teammates and fellow players going on to play in the NFL and succeeding. This put an emotional toll on him, knowing that he could have been playing along with them and succeeding as well. So, as Grant puts it, he had to scratch the "itch" to play football again. He then finds Noah and begins a training/treatment protocol as well as a specific nutrition protocol to set him up for success in re-entering into the world of football. After working with Noah and another former NFL player who trains Grant as well, Grant feels more and more confident to get back out on the field and achieve his goal of playing in the NFL. Not to mention that he saw a concussion specialist after his 3rd concussion but went back to him after not playing football for a year and his numbers have gone down, which brings him even more confidence to get back out on the field. Grant is an astonishing and humbled human that we hope to see in the NFL soon and look forward to seeing his wonderful journey!

In this episode we talk about some cool stuff about water, water sommeliers and we wrap up with our trio of pain stimulus: Biological Pain.
What is it?
2 different types of ways we get pain/injuries
What can we do about it?
In this episode we have a very special guest from the North, Brad Thorpe. Please excuse Noahs dog around 39:13
Brad has stirred up the world of physical fitness and exercise with a concentration in isometrics. He believes that we must have a foundation of capacity and stability first before movement.
"Isometrics is the preparation for movement, dynamics is the practice of movement"
Brad has been working diligently at helping humanity move better through isometrics and has invented 2 machines to help with isometrics and make it super convenient for people to work with. He has an Isophit Strength Trainer built for gyms and the Isophit M.S.K. (Mobile Strength Kit) for the home gymers or working out in the park or before competition or during competition to help prepare movement. And he has more to come in the future so be on the lookout!
He has supplied the Strength Trainers to the US Army, Exos (San Francisco), Canyon Ranch, and many more.
