There’s a lot of stuff going on these days! Not just the normal Challenges, but all those additional challenges due to the pandemic. Childcare, employment, finances, our own health and that of our loved ones. Disruptions of all kinds – especially at the holidays! It’s easy to get overwhelmed!
One of the ways that we receive a “pick-me-up” is when someone cares about us. When someone takes time out to genuinely care about us it triggers several positive responses in us. As mankind evolved over the centuries, having people caring for each other was important for survival. So our bodies are actually wired to respond to someone caring for us. We are in a series on how we can get a pick-me-up, not a temporary one, like from alcohol, rather a lasting “pick me up” that helps us build ourselves up! Today we look at how God’s love provides a lasting “pick-me up”!

There’s a lot of stuff going on these days! Challenges, pandemic, childcare, employment, our own health, drama around the election. Sometimes these challenges add up faster than we can deal with them…We get overwhelmed, anxious, worn-out. Depression starts to set in. The next thing we know – we’re in a downward spiral!
Our struggles become impossible to handle, nothing we can do is good enough. It’s a negative, self-defeating spiral. Our struggles are hard enough without getting blown out of proportion! We need a pick-me -up, something to break this downward spiral!

In these crazy times when we have lost so many things we cherish - How can we deal with the pain and anxiety? How can we move past this hurt and begin the healing process? Many times we just try to be strong and hide our pain or anxieties. No one likes to listen to a complainer. Yet when we hold in our pain, frustrations and anxieties – we cannot begin the healing process. Our feelings just fester…
