Picture this: a sunny Sunday morning in Paris. The Louvre is packed with tourists — and then, bam!
A group of thieves pulls off a heist so smooth it feels like a movie. They scale the building, smash a window, and in just four minutes, they’ve stolen priceless jewels from the French Crown Jewels collection.

And that got me thinking…

Even in a world where everything seems to be taken — peace, time, security — there’s one thing no one can steal: what belongs to the King.

In this episode, we dive into the Louvre heist and what it teaches us about God’s Kingdom — how the treasures of heaven can’t be touched, broken, or stolen. Because when your worth is in Christ, no thief can take that from you.

James Franklin got fired — and it’s wild how fast people go from calling you a hero to a disappointment.

But if we’re honest… we’ve all felt that pressure before.
To perform. To prove ourselves. To live up to expectations — whether at work, at home, or even in our faith.
And when we fall short? It hurts. Because deep down, we wonder if we’ve let God down too.

But here’s the truth: God’s plans aren’t built on our performance.
They’re built on His promise.

Just like a good coach doesn’t throw out the whole playbook after one bad game, God doesn’t give up on us when we miss the mark.
He’s not measuring us by the world’s scoreboard — He’s shaping us for eternity.

In this episode, we talk about what James Franklin’s firing reveals about success, failure, and how to trust God when expectations break you.

We’re living in the age of AI—where machines can write, create, think, and even sound human.

And if we’re honest… it can be a little unsettling.
It raises deep questions: What makes us different? What makes us human?

But here’s the thing: technology might imitate humanity, but it can’t be human.
Because being human isn’t about efficiency, productivity, or even intelligence.
It’s about love. Sacrifice. Relationship.

And that’s what the saints show us—what it really means to be fully alive.
While the world races to make smarter machines, the saints remind us to become holier humans.

In this episode, we explore what artificial intelligence reveals about our own search for meaning—and how the saints show us the kind of humanity worth imitating.

Kids are experts at asking questions.

“Why is the sky blue?”
“Do dogs go to heaven?”
“Why can’t I have ice cream for breakfast?”

As parents, we get peppered with questions all day long. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we’re stumped, and sometimes we just say, “Go ask your mom.”

But here’s the thing: kids ask questions because they trust us. They know we love them, so they’re not afraid to bring their curiosity, doubts, and even complaints to us.

And that’s when it hit me: this is exactly how God wants us to come to Him.

We don’t have to pretend to have it all together. We don’t need perfect words or polished prayers. God invites our questions—and in them, He shows us His goodness and steady love.

That was us this week. Sick again. Tired again. And honestly? It’s frustrating. But in the middle of it, I realized something: even when our bodies feel weak, Jesus is still looking out for us.

Just like a parent who keeps watch when their kids are sick, God doesn’t step away when life wears us down. He’s steady. He’s faithful. And He cares for us in every season—even the germy ones.

Evil is real. We see it on the news every week—innocent lives lost, communities broken, families grieving. And if you’re like me, it leaves you asking: God, where are You in all this?

That was me watching the headlines this week. The weight of it hit me—not just the tragedy itself, but the way it made me question: how do we hold on to hope when the world feels so dark?

And then it hit me: the Cross looked like the greatest evil in history. The Son of God, betrayed, beaten, killed. But even there—especially there—God wasn’t absent. He was right in the middle of it, fighting for us.

In this episode, we wrestle with tragedy and evil—but also with the unshakable truth that God has not abandoned us. He’s still present, still redeeming, still bringing light into the darkness.

What if sainthood didn’t look like dusty robes and ancient icons… but sneakers, coding, and mountain climbing?

On September 7, 2025, Pope Leo XIV canonized Carlo Acutis—a teen “God’s Influencer” who used the internet to spread devotion to the Eucharist—and Pier Giorgio Frassati—a young adventurer who turned hiking and serving the poor into a way of following Jesus.

These two young saints change the game: they prove holiness isn’t locked away in history books—it’s for us, here and now.

In this episode, we explore:
👟 Why Carlo’s love for Jesus transformed culture.
⛰ How Pier Giorgio lived out faith in adventure and charity.
🙏 What their canonization means for young Catholics today.
🔥 How you can live out real holiness in your ordinary, everyday life.

Big takeaway: Sainthood isn’t about escaping the world. It’s about bringing heaven into it—through friendships, hobbies, work, and faith.

Everyone expected greatness.

Bill Belichick, the legendary NFL coach, took over at UNC—and the hype was unreal. A new era. A proven winner. A guaranteed success.

But then came the first game: a crushing 48–14 loss to TCU. The worst season opener in UNC history. The same media that praised him one week, doubted him the next.

And honestly? Watching it, I realized: I’ve felt that way too.
Not on ESPN—but in my walk with God. I’ve asked, “What if He lets me down? What if my story falls flat?”

In this episode, we talk about what Belichick’s rough debut teaches us about expectations, failure, and faith. Because while coaches stumble and hype fades—God never does.

You’re budgeting, saving, being frugal—trying to be a responsible dad.
But then comes your kid’s birthday… and suddenly, you want to go all in.

That was me. I threw a bigger party than I normally would for my son. Not over the top—but more than I usually spend. And here’s the thing: it wasn’t about money. It was about telling him, “You’re worth it. You deserve to be celebrated. You’re loved.”

And that’s when it hit me: this is what God does for us too.

He doesn’t just train us, discipline us, or prepare us for hard things. Sometimes, He simply delights in us. He blesses us for no other reason than that we’re His kids.

In this episode, we explore what it means that God throws “parties” for His children—how His blessings are sometimes just love poured out, no strings attached.

You’re praying, showing up to Mass, trying to grow in virtue—doing the right things.
But then out of nowhere… it feels like you’ve slipped backwards.
The old sins resurface. The old doubts come back. And you’re left wondering, “Am I failing God?”

But what if regression isn’t failure? What if it’s actually part of growth?

In this episode, we unpack what my 3-year-old’s sleep regression at 2 a.m. taught me about the spiritual life. Just like kids sometimes go backwards before they leap forward, our faith can feel messy, restless, and exhausting—but God is patient in the process. Through Scripture and parenting parallels, we’ll see that God never abandons us in setbacks. Instead, He uses them to deepen our trust and prepare us for real growth.

Potty training is the ultimate test of patience… and not just for your toddler.
The smell, the bribery, the “I don’t have to go” standoffs — and somewhere in the middle of it, I had this realization: This is exactly how God parents us.

In this episode, I share how those messy, frustrating moments in the bathroom taught me something huge about God’s patience, why He doesn’t force our growth, and how He walks with us through the mess until we get it right.

You ever been to the beach as a kid?
You just ran straight to the water.
But someone had to wake up early. Pack the van. Load the cooler. Lug the tent, chairs, towels, snacks, sunscreen…
Then set it all up while you just laughed and played.

That’s what God is like.
He’s the Father doing all the work behind the scenes—fighting for you, providing for you, loving you—while you barely notice.

In this episode, we break down this simple, powerful metaphor… and how it changes the way we see prayer, suffering, trust, and the hidden ways God moves in our lives.

💡 Whether you feel forgotten, overwhelmed, or unsure where God is right now… this episode is a reminder:

Scottie Scheffler blew away sports media this past week. His thoughts on winning took many by surprise.

You’re grinding. Achieving. Hustling for more—
Success, recognition, security.

But if success was the answer, why do so many men still feel empty once they get it?
In this episode, we unpack the recent words of Scottie Scheffler, who—after winning the Masters—openly admitted:

“These things don’t satisfy the deepest parts of my heart.”

What’s that hole we keep trying to fill?
And why does every win leave us wanting more?
This episode explores the real desires of the masculine heart: identity, purpose, and being seen by God, not just the world. We’ll talk about how to let God be our fulfillment, not our scoreboard—and how interior freedom begins when we stop proving and start receiving.

As we walk through Holy Week, this episode reflects on what it really means to pick up our cross like Jesus did—and how Interior Freedom by Fr. Jacques Philippe reveals that there are levels to accepting suffering in our lives.

If you’re carrying something heavy right now, this episode will help you see that your cross is not a punishment—but an invitation to grow in intimacy with Christ.

Today, we discuss various topics, including Israel, my favorite TikTok, and where prayers work.

First, we jump into the problematic issue of this Israel/Palestine conflict. It's created a lot of controversy for people to pick a side and say why the other is so bad. It can be challenging to feel unsure which side is right. And we quickly punish those we think are on the wrong side of the argument. In this terrible war, let's focus on how we can help the suffering rather than the division in why someone would think differently than us.

Then we go into my favorite TikTok of the week. It is by @KidOfTheKingdom on TikTok. She sums up our entire Christian life in 2 words... BUT JESUS!!! You have to watch and listen to her meditation. It's super powerful and made me smile.

Lastly, we try to answer the question: does prayer work? I give my thoughts on how we can even talk about this question. But most importantly, we want to remember that our lives are meant to draw us closer to God in holiness.

Thank you for checking in and being here along in the journey. I

Gender Ideology is a pervasive topic in our culture today. As Catholics, we need not be afraid to take on these challenging topics.

So, how do we talk about something like gender ideology?

With Truth and Charity, that's how! Recently, 2 bishops wrote a wonderful essay describing the catholic response to gender ideology. It's never easy to tackle these hot-button issues, but these men did a masterful job of articulating the tense culture around the issue, as well as the loving response we must have as Catholics.

I tried my best to talk on why this is important for Catholics ti understand and ti know how to respond.

Listen in if you have ever wondered how to talk about Gender ideology, and share with a friend who would want to hear this.

Thanks for checking in; I'll be praying for you all!

Charismatic vs. Contemplative Prayer. This is an age-old question that Christians from around the world have pondered.

But like most things in life, the conversation is better about understanding the value in both rather than why one is better than the other.

So, in this episode, I dive into the two different types of prayer and what we can learn from both.

Charismatic Prayer is a great way to worship God expressly. It uses our bodies and brings people together in a way that has a powerful prayer. When people sing together, it is a beautiful thing.

Contemplative Prayer is one of the most historical ways to worship God. And it has stayed around for a reason. Quieting noise and finding time to hear God's voice will always be important.

However, if you like to pray, listen to this episode and share it with friends. The most important thing is that we realize Christ's love for us, and Prayer is the way we come to know this fact.

Faith and Reason will never be at odds in your Catholic Faith!!

This was most recently displayed during the debate between Trent Horn and Destiny in a late episode of the "Whatever" Podcast. These 2 men talked about man's current moral issues in a heavyweight philosophical conversation.

Trent Horn did a tremendous job of using Reason as evidence for our Faith. Which oftentimes is not the case for us believers. Faith is often seen as obedience and just following the orders of Jesus. But what Trent does so well is explain the intellectual side of our faith and why the foundation of our beliefs is logical, smart, and historical. We don't just believe what the latest trends are, but we follow the meticulous faith that has been revealed and passed down for thousands of years.

In this episode, I discuss the teamwork, Faith, and Reason use to run toward the Truth. And when we seek Truth, we find the One who IS TRTUH!

And this, TRUTH loves us and wants a beautiful life for us. So listen in to this episode and let me know your thoughts on this topic. Did it help you understand faith and reason a little bit more? Was it boring?? Whatever the case, reach out to me!

Your "Yes" matters!

Don't let society tell you that following Jesus doesn't matter. Don't let the world tell you that you're too young to make a difference. Don't let the culture tell you that you still have time to be better later.

BE GREAT NOW!

For all of the young Catholics at World Youth Day in Lisbon, it is inspiring to watch from afar.

The Lord is calling us all at ALL ages- even young people. In this episode, I talk about the journey I have been on from being a young Catholic to a less young Catholic and what I've learned.

One thing I discovered in my life was that Jesus has been calling me at all ages. He has never stopped calling me, just like He is calling you young Catholics.

For all of those out at World Youth Day: God Bless, and keep saying yes.

For all those who didn't make it to Lisbon: God is calling you in your everyday life!

One year to go until the highly anticipated Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis! As we eagerly await this sacred event, I wanted to make some videos to prepare for this awesome event. Today I'm talking about why it's happening and debunk three prevalent myths surrounding the Eucharist.

Myth 1: Jesus is not present in the Eucharist.
The cornerstone of our faith is the belief in the Real Presence. In this video, we delve into the biblical and historical evidence that supports the true and substantial presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

Myth 2: We don't need to be in a state of grace to receive communion.
As we approach the altar to receive the Body and Blood of Christ, understanding the significance of our spiritual disposition is vital. This idea even goes back to the Jewish Faith with washing hands before eating bread.

Myth 3: The Church is losing young people because it can't keep up with the times.
In a rapidly changing world, misconceptions arise about the Church's relevance to the younger generation. Let's shed light on this myth by examining the timeless truths and values that the Catholic Church offers, providing a source of unwavering strength and guidance for young people today.

Remember to subscribe and hit the notification bell to stay updated on all our upcoming videos as we continue to explore the beauty and significance of the Eucharist and our Catholic faith.

How To Survive The Excessive Heat Warning This Summer

In this episode, we unravel the illusion of control that often tricks us into thinking we can manipulate the outcomes of our lives. Just like the crazy weather patterns that surprise us, life is full of unexpected surprises that challenge our sense of control.

From careers and relationships to personal endeavors and dreams, we'll discover the common thread that weaves through them all, but through Christ, we can have security in our lives.

Like extreme weather that we see in the news, some storms in life are beyond our control. But fear not! Within this realization lies a powerful opportunity for growth and resilience. Pope John Paul The Great gives us the perfect tool to help us grow in these times: "Be Not Afraid."

How do we do this? How can we choose not to live in fear?

We NEED to draw close to Christ, and an easy way to do that is in the Eucharist. Visit Him often in the Eucharist, and He'll make time for us.

So, if you've ever found yourself frustrated by the unpredictability of outcomes, here is an invitation to a new perspective. Thank you for checking in! Make sure to like and subscribe.

In this episode, we unravel the profound connection between July 4th in America and the concept of true freedom within the Catholic Church. Can we challenge our perspectives as we explore why the United States often misses the mark on genuine freedom? If this is scary and causes some doubt, don't worry because July 3rd is the feast of St Thomas the Apostle. His example in life is that we can be free to do great things, even without a doubt.

Of course, we love the dazzling fireworks and celebrations of independence, but there is a TRUE freedom we need to care about. A True Freedom that only comes from Christ

Why does God let bad things happen? This question has been asked for thousands of years. In light of recent events, with the tragic submarine implosion, we are reminded of the paramount importance of unity and compassion during times of immense tragedy.

But how do we make sense of tragedy in our lives? Where does God come in to help us? We unravel the intricacies of suffering, reflecting upon how our steadfast belief in God can guide us through the darkest of times. Our communities are so important during times of tragedy to help lift us up. We also need to be a part of that solution to help those suffering.

Christ will never let us down and always guide us; even though it can be hard to see when tragedy strikes, it's important to remember that God will never fail us.

Witness the unstoppable force of the Oklahoma Softball Team, an extraordinary assembly of athletes whose remarkable achievements on the field are surpassed only by their unwavering devotion to our Lord Jesus. I was left in awe after seeing a press conference with them after a big win. They dominate on the softball field while humbly attributing their success to the glory of God. It's so incredible to hear them talk.

After getting a question from an ESPN reporter, they humbly redirect the spotlight of praise and glory to God, recognizing His hand in every triumph.

Here is a link to the video, and it has some more context, as well:

Today, we explore how we can live out our Catholic faith during Easter. With the help of three practical steps, we will deepen our relationship with God and become more faithful disciples of Christ.

The first step is to be joyful. As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we should rejoice in the new life he has given us. Our joy should be contagious, spreading to those around us, and inspiring others to seek the joy that comes from a life of faith.

The second step is to share with others. We are called to be witnesses to the love of Christ, and we can do this by reaching out to those in need, showing kindness to those we encounter, and sharing our faith with others. By doing so, we can make a positive impact on the world around us and help to bring others closer to Christ.

The third step is to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives. The Spirit can guide us, empower us, and fill us with the love of God. By seeking the Holy Spirit in prayer and through the sacraments, we can deepen our faith and become more like Christ.

Good Friday is a time when to reflect on the suffering and sacrifice that Jesus made to save humanity from sin and death.

We explore the connection between Good Friday and the joy of Easter. While Good Friday is a solemn and reflective day, it also serves as a reminder of the hope and joy that Easter brings. It is through the death and resurrection of Jesus that we are redeemed and granted eternal life.

Mental Health In Our Marriage!

Mental Health is so important to talk about!

Mental Health Issues are not easy to talk about. But in our Marriage, we want to bring these conversations to the light! That’s why we wanted to make these episodes!

This is the1st of 2 parts where we discuss mental health, and how it fits into our marriage. We have been very open about how mental health shows itself to us, but we wanted to dive deeper into how we face it, and what we do to deal with it.

We know that other people out there have mental health issues in their lives. Anxiety, depression, bi-polar, and other ailments are a common part of the everyday life for some people. We think having health conversations around these topics can create more acceptance and an easier environment to seek help.

A big lie that we face with mental health is, “you are in it alone”. This is just not true. So for these episodes we want to bring it all into the light! We want to show how mental health issues are a part of our marriage, but it doesn't define our marriage. We know we are not alone, and talking about this topic has helped us in our marriage.

We encourage you to listen, and reach out to us. Tell us how you deal with mental health. Give us advice. Give us your tips! We made this episode to talk about how we deal with it, but we want to hear from you. We know you can help us, and we hope this may have helped you!

We want to glorify God with every part of our life. In this episode we talk about media and how we can use it. Is it something that can be used to give glory to God?? We think so, and we talk about it in our latest episode..

Sometimes in Faith circles, “media” can be looked at as bad, or something that has no use in our lives. We think that since the world is moving in a direction that uses technology prominently, let’s use media as a tool!!

We have a great discussion, but let us know what you think. How do you see media/podcasts/video/TV/Movies??

Is it something that you want to be seen as a tool? Or is it just a distraction in Life?

Traveling with your spouse!

Everyone always said to us, “traveling with someone you love is always a good test”.

In this episode, we talk about being on the same page when we travel to places. Whether it be by car, train, or plane, we all have our travel habits.

We discuss how budget, what activities to do, and little traveling habits, all reveal what it is like to travel with us. One important thing we have discovered is that when we are on the same page with these 3 travel items, then it is always a good time. And if we don’t see eye to eye on 1 or 2 of these, then it can set us up for some stress.

Traveling to places is supposed to be fun. It’s not meant to turn us into little balls of stress. Each new adventure is a good thing. Not a memory that haunts us!

It was a fruitful and fun conversation we had, and we want to hear from you guys!

Do you like to travel? Why is it hard to travel with someone else? What snacks do you get at the airport or gas station?

Tell us in an email, or drop us a comment on social media!

In our segment today, we also revisit “Captain America: The First Avenger” in “The Marvel-ous Rewind”. Listen and hear what we think about his personality and where it ranks in our favorite Marvel movies list!

Snow in the Heart of Texas

We never thought we would talk about putting on a sweater in the Heart of Texas because of weather, but this past month was once in a lifetime!

We have taken a little break from releasing any episodes because it has been such a crazy month! We are sure you guys have seen the news and all the crazy weather we have had here in Texas.

So, we wanted to make a recap episode, to talk about what our experience was during this “SNOWPOCALYPSE”!!

Lost water, no heat, and rolling blackouts are some of the things we went through for a time. And even if this sounds bad, we were still blessed to have things working properly at times. Some people were not so lucky. So make sure to pray for those who lost belongings, houses, or their lives.

But Texans came together to help each other out during the crisis, and that is what is most important.

We hope you find this entertaining and make sure to get in touch with us!

Our words really matter!

In our new marriage, we have discovered that our words to each other are really important. What we say, either builds the other up, or tears them down. And as we have started making our marriage habits, we try our best to use our words to be helpful not hurtful.

It can be challenging in a heated moment to remember about using “right speech”. But we have found that being intentional with our words has helped us communicate more clearly and kept resent from growing.

If one spouse is always being teased or “jabbed” at, then how will know that it isn’t serious? Do we say “I love you” more than we criticize the other?

These are questions we have asked ourselves to help our love grow, and inform how we speak to each other.

This was a very fun episode to make, and as we say in it, the little details really matter. It can be easier to talk about big marriage issues, and get feedback, but do we care about the little things?

Are we willing to talk about and work on the little habits? That is why we love this episode. It dives into a small part of our marriage, but also very impactful.

At the end of the episode, we have another “time traveling with Tania” segment, where we hear about something Tania watched late on TV one night.

Did we turn into our parents?!?

This is a question we ask during our married life. Because something we found out early in our marriage was that the biggest example of a marriage was the witness we saw growing up.

In episode #28 we talk about the times where we do something in the house, and then look at each other with a surprised look on our face!

“Do I sound like my Dad?”

“Does my Mom do the same thing?”

“Are we becoming our parents?”

These questions have arisen quite often in our first years of marriage. When we have looked into our well of behaviors for how to act in a marriage, for both of us, our parents are the prime example.

We are lucky because we were blessed to be raised in great homes. We now feel a responsibility to continue that chain of good homes, and create a strong marriage, using the example of our parents.

No parent is perfect, including our own, but when we look at how we act in our own marriage, we find ourselves being bright to our own parents for some of the tough questions in a marriage.

Expectations vs Reality in a Marriage

What is the reality to the expectations when we start a relationship? One of the more helpful conversations we have in our marriage, revolves around the expectations we HAD for each other, and the Reality of what actually is.

From our upbringings, to movies, or Television, we brought in certain expectations for how the other should act. Maybe it's the cooking and cleaning expectations of a wife, or the financial security of a husband, but for us, the reality has been far more interesting than the expectations.

In this episode, we dive into this topic and talk about why we have these expectations for each other, and what we do to LIVE in reality. Being candid about what our talents or weaknesses are and how they affect our home has been extremely fruitful, and helped stop the seed of resentment being planted.

We have found that letting go of the expectations of how we should act, we had for each other was a part of our journey. It will always be a balance of what we expect out of each other, and what we can offer. But communicating about it has helped us so much, and we look forward to figuring out how we can continuously help each other out.

We hope that this conversation that we have on this episode can help any of you guys, in your lives because we know how helpful it has been for us.

Let us know what your expectations for your husband or wife were when you first got married. Tell us how you guys deal with it. Email, text, or leave a comment to give us some tips for how to better handle this stuff!

This is marriage advice we received before we got married, and we have found it to be so helpful!

Maybe you know what the “Marriage Scorecard” is, but if you don't, here is a simple and informal definition:

It is the invisible score you keep in your head, of who has done more chores, acts of service, or any general amount of work in the marriage.

The advice we got before we got married, was to NEVER engage with this. It only causes animosity, and remember “the fruit of love is service”.

So why do we not keep score and what are the benefits?

Well, for one, it helps immensely with our communication. It makes it so easy to talk to each other when we are not holding everything in. If they haven't done the dishes, and we are upset about it, if we are not keeping score, then it makes it easy to bring it up

This was an amazing episode. Reach out to us with your thoughts on the Marriage Scorecard! We would love to hear what you guys think!

2020 Recap: Buckle up everyone!

This year was unforgettable, hard, and flipped ALL of our normal lives upside down. People around the world went through immense suffering and turmoil. An invisible enemy made our entire planet scramble to figure out how to help people, and get healthy.

Even in ALL those hard times, there were blessings. We know that finding meaning in difficulty can be trite, but during this year we had the best opportunities to live out our vows.

We found out what it really meant to live out, “through sickness and health” or ‘richer or poorer”. And we are grateful to have these chances to grow closer together. There could not have been a better year to work on our marriage, than this year: 2020.

In this episode, we talk about this past year, and what we learned. We also go into why we haven’t released an episode in a while. Look above at the vow part, to get a hint!

Reach out to us and tell us how your year went. You can do that at whatsthedillpodcast@gmail.com

“Are we best friends?”

This is a question we ask each other. But does a couple have to be best friends in a marriage??

We talk about our thoughts on our own friendship, and why being weird with each other has been so important for us.

We want to know what you guys think about friendship in a marriage. Get in touch with us and tell us about why you think it's important. Or whether you don’t need to be best friends.

For our segment, we bring back the wildly popular, “Time Traveling With Tania” where we see what Tania was thinking as a sophomore in high school. The real question that comes up from the segment is “what was I doing at the same time”??

How do you know they are the one??!?

At some point in our relationship each of us thought about our future as old people sitting in rocking chairs, talking about our lives together.

This is also known as: “The One”.

But how do we talk about our future together without referencing movies and all the glorious dating moments? How do we rationally think about our life together in the future?

Well, in this episode, we talk about our experiences with pondering our future lives, and when we knew each other was “the one”.

This episode was suggested to us by a fan, and we loved the idea! It was awesome to hear what people are going through and then talk about it.

To be honest, it was hard to talk about at times, because that feeling of knowing someone is the right person for you, can be such a gut feeling. A feeling of peace that makes you not worry. So finding the right words was tough sometimes, trying to articulate that peace.

But overall, our peace in knowing each other was the right person was so special for us to have. There has been a lot of work put in, since we knew we were meant for each other, and in our marriage, we have seen our growth.

We hope you like this episode, and let us know when you knew your spouse was “The One”!

First date stories are always fun. Now that we are married, looking back on our first date holds a special place in our hearts.

We love talking about what was going through our heads at the time. It's fun to look back and see how far our journey has gone. And it stemmed from that first date together!

In this episode we talk about our first date, but we always raise some classic questions:

Who should pay on a first date?

Do first impressions matter in the long run?

Would you eat chocolate if it fell on the floor?

We want to know what you guys think. So, listen to the episode to hear the questions we ask about, and let us know your answers.

“2020...am I right y’all?!?”

How many Dad Jokes, during this Thanksgiving, will be made?

Probably somewhere in the billions. But is that any different than other Thanksgivings?

Anyway, Pseudoscience aside, there truly is a lot to be thankful for, even in this crazy year. We wanted to make an episode to talk about why we are still grateful in 2020, and how we have seen God work in our lives this year.

We also talk about our favorite things associated with Thanksgiving. From the food to the football, and all the family in between, Thanksgiving is a great time to reflect and share life with the ones you love.

We are choosing to be grateful this year and look at the good things that have happened. Because our gratitude is bigger than 2020, and we are going to get through this year.

Thank you all for joining us on this podcast journey. We are 20 episodes in, and we have enjoyed every second of it.

Worries in our lives can be so easy to NOT deal with. It is so much easier to just worry and let the burden of worries just take over your mind.

These worries we have are also a very internal struggle, because no one really knows how someone else is dealing with, at times in their lives!

In this episode, we talk about the consequences of worry in our lives, and how we try to fight against it.

It can be SO easy to just let the worries of life wash over ourselves. Sometimes it can seem like ALL we do is see the negative in our lives. But life is so GOOD. We need to let go of our worries to really see the good in life.

We go into how we let go of worries, and why its important for us to talk about what is going on in our lives.

Thank you so much for listening. We REALLY want to know what you guys think about this episode.

Being vulnerable is the first step in communication, in our marriage. Because what it says is: “I am ok with letting you in”.

Each day in our marriage is another opportunity to be vulnerable with each other. So in this episode we dive into why we chose to be vulnerable with each other, and how difficult with find it.

We talk about how guys, in general, have a harder time opening up and being vulnerable. We know that was the case for us. But we also discuss how there are different levels of desire to being vulnerable each day.

This was a surpsode to us, and is something we have worked on, during our first year plus, of marriage.

We love to talk about our personality types according to the myers-briggs test. Even if people don’t know what it is, we find ourselves working it into social conversations. This test is commonly taken for people to better understand how we perceive the world and make decisions.

In this newlywed stage of our marriage, we have found it productive and fun to talk about our personality types, and how we can better work within our strengths and weaknesses. Have you been hanging out with us recently and we have brought this topic up? Very likely!! It can be an “A-HA” moment to have when there is some context to a personality quirk.

And, we have those quirks in spades!!

This was a really fun episode for us to make, because we can tell you all about our personality types. It may seem pointless but we have found ourselves having some really important conversations that started from us talking about these personality types.

Today we are talking about Happiness and Joy, and why they are important in our lives.

This was one of our favorite episodes to make!

We wanted to have a conversation on what makes us happy in our individual lives, but also what makes us happy as a single married unit. We define what gives us happiness, but we dove deeper into why happiness is an emotion that goes up and down, and why Joy could be the answer we are all looking for!

Happiness is not just about avoiding difficulties, or maximizing the pleasure in our lives, but rather it is an emotion and response to the day to day events of our lives. We experience happiness when things are good, and that feeling can be fleeting.

So should we chase happiness? Well, in the episode we talk about the unshakable Joy we have in our marriage, that comes from God. This Joy is a deep peace knowing that we are saved and that God is in control of our world, EVEN when we think it's CRAZY!!

We found this conversation to be so helpful for us, and we have even talked about it, since we stopped recording.

Let us know what you guys think! Do you seek happiness? Do you agree with our definition of Joy? We want to hear from you, so leave a comment or send us an email with what happiness means to you and what you think Joy is all about!

So many moments of growth in our lives have started because of breaking out of our comfort zones. So, for Episode #15 we wanted to discuss the times we have broken out of our comfort zones, and the results we saw!

It can be scary to step out of what is comfortable. The unknown. Fear of the Future. A loss of control. All these things run through our minds when we are contemplating breaking out of our comfort zones.

But one thing we talk about in this episode is the growth we have seen each time we step over the rising tide of challenges. For both of us, moving to different parts of the country (or world!) has given us ample opportunities to not be comfortable. They were real lighting rods in our young adult years, that struck us in a way that helped us grow.

WOW!

14 Episodes in, and we are having such an amazing time making this podcast..

In this episode, we covered sports, fitness, and exercise. Each of these have been an integral part of our lives growing up, and the lessons we learned as kids, can now be applied to our married life.

Sports are not the first thing you think of when marriage is being talked about, but in this episode we discuss why they were so important for us and now are a fun way to spend time together.

As you know, quality time is a part of both of our love languages, so the time spent together going to a jog, or doing an at home work out, have been a fun and creative way to be with each other!

And back by popular demand, we have a “that thing you do” segment where we find more out about a certain light source.

Not everyone has the opportunity to volunteer or serve in a radical way at any point in their lives, so since both of us were missionaries as a part of our post-college years, we wanted to make an episode to dive deeper into this important subject.

Spending time “giving of self” as a missionary, was very special in our lives.

But, sometimes the word missionary or missionary work can be misunderstood or vague. So in this episode, we talk about what we think being a missionary is all about, and why the radical choices to go off and serve is not the only form of being on mission.

We are all on mission. Sometimes it looks radical, like going off to foreign lands. But many times it takes form in our everyday lives, and how we respond to this everyday call is what really matters.

We also have another installment of our hit segment “that thing you do” where Tania divulges a very secret skill that people don’t know about!

One question that came up for us recently was: what is the length of time a couple is considered newlyweds??

So, before we graduated to “not” newlyweds, we wanted to have some fun with it on this episode.

In this episode, we play “The Newlywed Game”, or at least our version of the game…basically we asked each other some questions and had answers.

It is lighter and we wanted to do this for all of you guys to get to know some more in a fun way.

We definitely get off to a rocky start, where we get confused with some of the questions, and we even started off the episode with some microphone troubles.

Thank you all so much for listening! This process of making the podcast has been one of the best parts of our marriage. One of the more important things we have talked about in our marriage has been on this subject: forgiveness

What does our society say about forgiveness? Not much. In fact, if you put on the television or listen to popular commentary, forgiveness is never mentioned one bit.

But in our marriage there are daily opportunities to forgive each other, and this release of resentment or anger is not only healthy for our marriage, but also great for our mental health.

In this episode we dive into how we are establishing our foundation for how we forgive each other and why it is so important to have this as a staple in our lives.

It is not often that a group of friends sit around, over a crackling fire, and talk about how we forgive one another, so we wanted to talk to all of you about why we think forgiving each other is a bedrock in our marriage.

It is not the easiest topic to talk about because it can be hard to say when you are wrong. But we have found it so helpful in our first year of marriage to try our best with forgiving each other, and setting the standard for how we do it!

How do you guys forgive someone? Is it hard? Do you have any secrets for making it easier??

One of the little surprises we have experienced during our marriage so far, has been the insights we have learned from the book, The 5 Love Languages.

This book is written by Gary Chapman with the purpose of couples growing in communication and deeper understanding.

His thesis is: we all give and receive a primary love language that we need filled to feel greatly loved. These languages offer us an easy way to hear how your spouse might be talking to you and how we talk to our spouse.

Here are the 5 “Languages:”

-words of affirmation

-quality time

-physical touch

-acts of service

-gift giving

Each of us can express all of these but we naturally have 1 in which we give and receive. The giving and receiving can differ.

THis may seem like it is not a big deal but imagine this scenario.

A spouse comes in from a long day at work and wants to receive a long embrace from their spouse (physical touch), but the spouse is busy vacuuming the living room (acts of service) to make a clean place for the one coming home from work.

One is seeking a type of love. The other is giving a type of love. But if they don’t understand what the other needs or wants, it could be like 2 ships missing each other in the middle of night.

Understanding what languages we give and receive can unlock a greater understanding between each other, and we have found that we knew each other better after reading this book. We are so glad we read it, and we would love to hear what others think if you read it.

Send us an email at whatsthedillpodcast@gmail.com with your thoughts on this book. We would love to hear from you.

Every couple does it. But no one wants to talk a lot about it.

In this episode we are getting into a hard part about marriage: conflict and arguments.

It’s okay, you can take a breath. The world is not ending. But we have to talk about it.

How do we deal with hard conversations, when maybe we don’t agree on a matter? If left unchecked, these conflicts can build to more serious issues.

This is a reality of marriage, and something that is talked a lot about in relationships: is it bad to argue? Is it bad to have conflict?

What we have discovered is that these disagreements and conflicts are NOT BAD!!

It is perfectly normal to not agree on everything.

We have found that it’s how we deal with these conflicts that is a really important issue. We know we are going to have disagreements, so how do we stop from letting resentment grow?

How do we resolve our conflict, with love and compassion rather than anger and yelling?

Well, in this episode we talk about all things conflict. As you will find out, sometimes the word argue can mean something different for each of us, but we all know that when talking about something difficult, it is important to not blow up!

We give a few tips on how we engage with each other when it comes to difficult conversations or conflict. And we make sure to tell each other and everyone that these conflicts are not the foundation cracking in a marriage and is normal. For us, it has really been about not letting anger rule the way we talk to each other, and not trying to just be right about something!

Tell us what you think! Do you do something similar? How do you deal with conflict?

One of the fun parts of our new marriage has been discovering how we build new traditions. For years we were making our own personal habits and engaging with our how own family traditions, but when we got married, we had to figure out things like:

When do we put up the Christmas Tree?

Or, wondering if we use the dishwasher as a drying rack or to actually wash dishes!

In Episode #8, we get into how our 2 traditions become 1. They said to us on the altar that, “On this day, 2 will become 1”, and we have found this to be true, especially when we are talking about our habits. We don’t think that is what the priest meant, but we have realized that we have had to talk about how we do the little things.

If one person is accustomed to a specific family tradition but doesn’t tell the other that it is important, resentment can build. Or if one person squeezes the toothpaste from the middle, and the other doesn’t like that, we have to tell each other.

This was a very fun episode, and we want to hear what you guys think!

Send us an email at whatsthedillpodcast@gmail.com and tell us how you deal with your own personal habits. It could be in a marriage, relationship, or even roommate. Everyone loves a good “how they met” story!

Since we have started the podcast, a few people have reached out to us, and asked about our story of how we met.

We are a little biased, but we absolutely love how we met. It’s like our own little Rom-Com..

2 strangers at a wedding, then they fall in love, and get married. Throw in a dash of texas, and a little bit of long distance, and BOOM, it’s the story of us.

We met in 2017, at a wedding in Connecticut... A “wedding in Connecticut'' either sounds like the perfect title for a hallmark movie, or a very cheap horror movie. And we think our story is a little more hallmark and a little less “frantically running in the woods with the entire wedding behind you”...

We could have never imagined where life would lead us, when we met that weekend, but it shows what faith, and hard work can do. And could have never scripted a better ending to our movie… Ya know, because movies always end on the wedding day. Even though there is a lot more to go, that is for a different day.

We hope you enjoy our fun little story, and maybe some of you can relate. It can be intimidating to meet a stranger, then start to build a connection, but our “meet-cute” was made for more!

In our latest episode of “what’s the dill”, we dive into one of the hottest topics in our world: tehcnoogy.

Never before, for thousands of years, married couples did not have to deal with how technology affects everyday life. But here we are, where we have to make a podcast episode, talking about how we deal with technology in our marriage.

We break down Tech in our marriage into 3 groups:

-The good and useful side of it

-The bad and harmful effects

-How we handle technology in our marriage

The Good:

Even though it is common to anoint technology as harmful, we know that there are helpful parts to the technological revolution. Our relationship was supported by Factime, finding cheap flights online, and constant texting. So, we absolutely know that technology helped get us where we are today.

The Bad:

Now we get to the fun part. The potentially harmful effects of Tech. What are they? Are they different for everyone?

For us, it can be a challenge to not get wrapped up in looking at our phones or computers, and not spending internal time with each other. We also know that with such a crazy 2020 upon us, the overflow of information can be hard to manage. It is a rising concern for people in our society, and we can see how Technology can move into a marriage.

What we do about it:

How do we deal with all of this though?? Using the good of Tech, but trying to fend off the harmful effects, is quite an undertaking. One big thing we do is to make sure to unplug. It can be a challenge to try and put time restraints of technology because there is ALWAYS a reason to use an app! So we are very intentional about unplugging and spending quality, intentional time with each other.

What do you guys think??

Is technology becoming too big a part of your life? Marriage? Relationship?

What are the good use cases for Tech in your life?

In the blink of an eye, we have been married for 1 year. Our first anniversary has come, and while most of our married life has been in this crazy 2020 year, we have learned a lot, experienced highs and lows, and done everything together!

In honor of our first year, we wanted to do a list of 1’s:

-1 thing we learned.

-1 thing we liked that we did together.

-1 thing that was hard

-1 thing we wish we could take back

And a few more, answers to these lists of 1’s..

It was a great exercise because, as everyone has learned in 2020, life can get crazy and unpredictable. So, for us, to get our marriage starting off right, we have had to be unified and ride out the craziness together!

Even though this year has been infamous, we know that our favorite times have been together, and we are glad that we are going through hard times together as well.

In our segment, “that thing you do”, we ask Tania why Texas is the best state?

The line between truth and opinion has never been more blurry, than right here.

Tania has never been known to give an objective and unbiased thought on Texas, and this segment was no different. It made for quite an entertaining answer as to why she thinks Texas is the best place!

This was a fun episode, so make sure to listen, share, and review!

Everyone talks about the dishes!

The dishes are a small house chore but they represent so much more than that. In this episode we talk about the current state of our kitchen sink, and how we divide up this little task.

Time and time again, in movies and in real life, we hear about the problem with the dishes. No one wants to do them, but they need to get done.

So how do we talk about this little chore? Do we just let the dishes sit there? Do I just wash them in spite?

We like to use the dishes as small ways to love another, and an easy way to communicate what we are feeling.

For example:

“Hey, can you help me wash these dishes”

“Yup, you got it”

Insead of washing the dishes, seething that no one helps out with these dirty dishes!

We go into how we believe that dishes are often a messenger of something greater, so while it's important to wash the dishes, it is also important to “wash the dirty dishes” in our relationship.

We are always working on our marriage, and we are not perfect. So we try to wash the dishes in our relationship by bringing up what is bothering us, and figuring it out.

Our relationship needs cleaning too, so we don’t let the dishes in the sink get us upset about the dirty dishes in our marriage.

Living together brings out A LOT of opportunities to love one another.

Whether it's the dishes in the sink, shoes on the floor, or time alone, we have been figuring out how to successfully live together, and how to communicate the “little things”.

In this episode, we talk about our first year of marriage and what living together has been like. MOST of our marriage has been spent in this year 2020, which means, not only were we getting used to living with one another, but it has been during a global pandemic, in which we have been in quarantine!!

Needless to say, there have been some hard times, growing times, and fun times together.

We discuss why it has been really good for us to have a lot of time together and why we need to have “quality” time together, not just time spent doing the same thing.

This difference for us is that we like to be intentional about how we spend our time together, even if we are doing different things, we always make sure we are recharging our batteries by being intentional.

Quarantine has been a great way to live together and learn why we need certain things, like alone time or quality time, but we know that this is a year we will never forget!

In our segment “that thing you do” we talk about why Tania loves her car and what long drives do for her mental health.

Did you just get married? Have you been together for 20 years?

We are sure there are stories about living together that will make us all laugh.

When all the bags and boxes are unpacked is when the real work begins.

In this episode, we talk about moving for someone when you are in a relationship. Both of us are experts because we have moved across the country for the other.

I’m not 100% sure if this makes us “experts” but saying your an expert is the first step in becoming the expert of something

It can be a crazy thought, to pack some bags, get together all your childhood posters, throw away childhood posters to save room, squeeze everything in a car or check-in bag, and move to a different place, to get there, and then have to put in real work in a relationship.

We both feel lucky to have moved for the other. It has given us great examples of love and commitment we have for each other, and it has opened our conversations to where we think we are being called to be.

Not everyone will have the opportunity to move for the person they love, but we both know our experiences moving across the country for each other were a part of our story. So listen to this episode where we dive into the details of why each of us moved, and why it was harder than it seemed!

We also have another installment of “that thing you do”, where I ask Tania why she leaves certain household items strewn about our apartment.

Tell us about your experience moving in the comments below or drop us a line in an email at: whatsthedillpodcast@gmail.com

Our relationship started from afar, but now we are married....

We were strangers when we met; a weekend wedding in Connecticut. Both of us returned back to our homes. One in Texas. One is NYC.

Our experience with Long Distance Relationship’s was as crazy as we could have ever expected, but it also had so many benefits that we never thought we would be a part of dating long distance.

The Challenges:

Long Distance Relationships obviously have hard parts. It can be hard when you live across the country from one another. It can be expensive to fly back and forth JUST to see this person. It can be difficult to miss a person and not be able to see them.

Also, people can sometimes look at LDR’s as lesser than. People have a harder time believing that there is this person across the country that is a really big part of your life.

But even though there are hard times and challenges in LDR’s, there is so much good that is involved with them, and we really learned so much, from dating long distance.

It is a great way to get to know someone. You can really easily build a friendship first with a person. It is an easy way to get to know someone. Talking on the phone, and FaceTiming can be a fun way to develop this friendship, and we were lucky to have these tools at our disposal.

We knew that the one thing we needed to do was to be intentional about our relationship, and being long distance gave us the clarity to be open and honest which led us to having a deeper relationship.

Overall, we loved having the opportunity to be long distance. Even though it was hard, we know it was worth it!

In this episode, we also have our first installment of our segment: “that thing you do” where we get into why I have a certain personality trait that may hurt your ears!
