Guido came from Chicago, IL moved to Champaign IL and stayed, this is where he connected with his now music family. Guido. wears many hats, Bass Player/ Bass Player in 90's Daughter (Party Band), First Gig Rock n Roll Camp for kids leader/teacher/part of the founding structures of FGRRCFK. Music Director for Rod Sickler's Red Hot Winter, and Works at Danville Area Community College, currently has put together a band with the kids form DACC called "Project M". and has also written original music which is currently being recorded at High Cross Studio.

At the age of 11 Apollo found a cd in the park across the street from his house in Philo, IL he had to sneak it in the house to listen to it as his parents did not allow him to listen to a lot of secular music especially hip hop/rap. He hid it in his closet and would wear head phones to listen to it, that is where he became so inspired and knew that is what he wanted to do. He requested a turn table from his Dad for Christmas but got a guitar instead....the rest is history and he tells his story through one of his earlier songs "My House" This is the 2nd part of that Podcast titled Music and Sobriety where he discusses his music and his journey to being sober and staying sober

Roger has successfully played in several great Bands in CU and still plays with Captain Rat & The Blind Rivets (for over 40 years)
Roger talks about his experiences in this local music community as well as when he was one of the founders of POGO Studio, how he worked with Allyson Krause from the time she was 14 and her brother, Meanwhile, he was going to school to become a lawyer, so there you have it, a great lawyer and a fantastic musician!!

Based in Champaign, Illinois, since 1980, CAPTAIN RAT AND THE BLIND RIVETS is consistently voted best regional band. They have brought their spectacular family-oriented show to more than a million people, in such venues as Wrigley and Soldier Fields, Memorial Stadium, the Chicago Air and Water Show, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, and Atlantis Paradise Island Resort and Casino in Nassau, Bahamas.
The group features five outstanding musicians: Jeff Evans, a/k/a “Buster B. Dordaun”, drums and vocals; Roger Prillaman, a/k/a “Todd Modern”, keyboards, trumpet and vocals; Tim Vear, a/k/a” Timmy Ray”, vocals and guitar; “Mark B. Rubel” on bass and vocals, and our latest addition Tary Powers, a/k/a “Bart Bartonia” on saxophone and vocals. The playing is tight and always energetic- the excellent singing and harmonies shine on Beach Boys songs and on a capella numbers. The band members move into the crowd using wireless transmitters, and even switch instruments

Joe Asselin is a local musician that is mostly known for his blues background. His move to Illinois from a small sea side town in Maine , Joe has made champaign Ill his home town. He performed for 10 years and recorded with Kilborn Alley Blues band as their harmonica player, and as the lead guitarist for the sugar prophets. As well he performed with a group called finger lickin from 2001 to 2004 which was a free flow jam band that primarily played at the office in Urbana now called a plus lounge. Joe has always had a fond love and passion for song writing and the traditional style of blues. Most don't know that he has a huge love for the great song writers of the past. From woody Guthrie to bob Dylan to John Denver to Jim Croce, Joe not only covers some of his idols songs but as well uses them as inspiration for his own song writing skills. From songs like minimum wage and food line he writes and sings about the tough economy that we face on a daily basis. Somber but moving he sings with passion and rhyme.
Joe is a self taught musician, in his earlier years while going through his brother's truck looking for music, he found a harmonica and he learned to play it and play it well! He found out later that the Harmonica use to be his Grand Father's. That is just one of the fascinating stories Joe tells. Joe has played with the best local bands because he is the best, Kilborn Alley Blues Band, William Marsella, Joe Asselin and The Moonlight Ramblers, The Sugar Prophet's, Black Eyed Lilies just to name a few, Joe has some great music that is his own and recently went to Blackbird to Record with Tom Vrem he talks about the recording session and the experience, his newest LP will be released some time this Summer 2023

Our first in person podcast with Tom Grassman, Tom has been a full time musician for 25 years, current bands 90's Daughter and Tom Grassman Band, also owner of Boomerangs Bar & Grill where great food and live music are a part of Boomerang's atmosphere. This was such an exciting podcast with Tom Vrem, Tom is from Mattoon, IL where his story starts his Grandfather recorded Doors, Three Dog Night etc on Reel to Reel plus himself who was a huge Hank Wiliams Fan - later it kind of went Full Circle as Tom met Sam Williams and recorded music with him (Tom wrote a song called Dark Waters and Sam ended up singing it and they recorded the song ). Music Artist "Syris" is from Champaign, IL a local who started in Theatre and was drawn to music, she is talented and her inspirations are her Mom (Jenny Carpenter and Mylie Cyrus who helped pull her through many dark and depressing times. Syris's latest song "Reject" came from her experiences of being bullied, rejected, not included and not in the main stream of things. Her hope is to be an inspiration to those who feel they are a reject and are being bullied and set apart. She would love to go to schools or other public areas and help heal those with music that they can relate to. About Cindy: "I became a member of a popular local Country Music TV show when I was 12. Throughout my teens, I traveled to Nashville & performed on several shows, including the Grand Ole Opry. During my 20's, I developed my own style, formed my own band. I sang & played bass guitar & changed from Country to Southern Rock. After my band desolved, I joined as a front person in a Top 40 Rock band during the late 80's - early 90's. I retired from the music scene to spend more time with my children in their teen years. I eventually went back to my country roots & formed a band with my husband in 2001. We traveled to country opry's, which was short-lived. We became involved in the music at our church. In 2007, after a traumatizing fall, I became disabled & eventually quit singing in my church. In 2022, I became a member of The Bement Country Opry & play 2 shows a month.
About Ron: After being in a band in Indiana, I moved back to Illinois to live with family. I met my wife while singing in a karaoke contest in July of 2001. I was determined to get to know her. We formed a band and played every Tuesday night in a local bar. I am a drummer and she plays bass. After we got married in November of that same year, we got tired of the bar scene very quickly. In 2001 we turned our musical talents toward ministry in our church. We still love to karaoke on occasion & I hope to be recording more songs in the future. I am currently in a band called Whiskey River. I mostly enjoy doing shows with my wife, singing in a band or at country opry shows. I sing Classic Country. As Merle would say... "I take a lot of pride in what I am"!!

Adiare is a self taught phenomenal drummer encouraged by his Mom who worked hard to get him his first drum set from Tins and Skins in Champaign, IL. Plays Worship and is dedicated at his church, moved by inspiration of his faith, overcame obstacles and chose to listen to his pastor and his brother instead of being discouraged by someone that tried to dismiss his talent. Adiare has played with some of the best bands in CU and currently plays in Nickel and Dimes/ The Merry Travelers but is not limited to just one band he fills in and plays with several artists and several events November 11th he will be opening for Tye Tribbett and Marvin Sapp Day Vision in Chicago, IL

Interview with Jake and Jackson Tatar Father and Son duo, Jake has a rich history in music he began The Boat Drunks, played in Southern Cross, Marvin Lee Band and opened for The Beach Boys, Little Feat and several other Nations Artists, he has had some big moments in music but nothing compares to performing with his son Jackson. Jackson reflects on the days his Dad would be gone playing out of state with the Boat Drunks and gives his perspective on those times, Jackson values and treasures all of the great experiences he is having performing with his Dad what is most special to both is spending time together and Jackson singing one of Jake's songs he wrote.

I am the former lead singer of the Boat Drunks who has retired from the touring life to be home with my kids. I play occasional solo shows or duo shows with my son Jackson. What will you hear? I was one of the primary songwriters for the Boat Drunks three albums, and you'll definitely hear those. I am hugely influenced by the Beatles and will be incorporating them into the show. I grew up in the 80s, so we play some really cool tunes from the Stranger Things decade. 70s, 90s, current pop, country... anything that we think sounds good has made the list

**Jake Vaughn is from Bradley, IL he has played with National Artists such as Tommy James, he supports local music and was reached out to by (what is now the National Suicide Awareness Organization) to write a song about ADHD and so he did. He intends on moving towards doing his own music as well as maintaining the 4 Bands he currently plays in (2 are Trial Bands that have not been fully formed yet) 2 are Bands that have been playing for quite some time "Instead of Tomorrow" and "The Jake Vaughn Band"
Jake is open and honest about mental health issues and is a inspiration to many

At the age of 11 Apollo found a cd in the park across the street from his house in Philo, IL he had to sneak it in the house to listen to it as his parents did not allow him to listen to a lot of secular music especially hip hop/rap. He hid it in his closet and would wear head phones to listen to it, that is where he became so inspired and knew that is what he wanted to do. He requested a turn table from his Dad for Christmas but got a guitar instead....the rest is history and he tells his story through one of his earlier songs "My House" you can listen to it here on

Jeremy talks about his experiences in the live music scene here in Champaign-Urbana, IL and paying your dues. On the way to Christmas dinner in 2017 my 22 year old son, Tristan, mentioned that during his music career (which started when he was 12) my only active roles were as a teacher, roady, manager and fan. He pointed out that he and I had never played together other than songs at home or around a campfire. We decided at that point to start a project together. After a heated debate about who would play bass and who would play guitar, it was decided that Tristan would play guitar and sing lead vocals with me (his Dad) backing him up with guitar style bass riffs.
My thoughts on filling out this project immediately turned to my little brother Gary for the drummer. We had played together as teenagers but somehow never built a real project together. I knew from experience that creating music has the ability to heal your soul and he had recently experienced a devastating loss. I knew that this project would be perfect for all of us
After we all sat down and discussed all of the reasons that we shouldn’t do this thing, we decided to go for it. At this point we all agreed on a few things, number one, the most important thing was that we have fun, number two, we would only play good music and number three, we would try our best to hopefully all stay in time.
Immediately we not only were having fun and staying in time, we found ourselves riding a wave that we could not explain. Tristan’s newer style of writing backed by a rhythm section that has old school influences, it wasn't long before some college radio stations started playing the songs Ready or Not, Amnesia and Burnt.
Boxcar Graffiti has been described as” the epitome of a tight as f*&^ old school rock and roll show “ and “ Rock and roll with the perfect blend of cutting edge while anchored by traditional”. We’re still not sure what that means but we are still having fun and are constantly writing and recording in the middle of playing shows whenever we can.
We’re still having fun, we’re still playing good music.
We’re still working on staying in time.
