In the past year ESPN ( USTA's largest customer) has lost 10M subscribers. In the last decade, it has lost 25M Subscribers. The math this represents is a huge problem for the setup of the USTA. The USTA is cash strapped and needs to pay for many obligations, now the board has agreed to sell the Western and Southern Open that takes place in Cincinnati every year. This is one of 9 required events for the ATP. In this podcast, I explain the reasons why selling it is a mistake for the sport, especially now.

- Next three years they have to pay principal alone $91M
- In 9 years also principal payment of $200M
- They have losses so far of $220M
- Broadcast rights are up for renewal and ESPN is losing money.
