March of 1832 was a rough period for the Saints, particularly for Joseph and his family. D&C 78 can be just the right medicine for anyone who has unwanted adversity and to be reminded that “the kingdom is yours and the blessing thereof are yours the riches of eternity are yours”. 😀

D&C 77 is a pretty cool section. Not just in its content but in the underlying principle of how to approach our loving Heavenly Father with questions. The phrase “What are we to understand?” might be one of the best repeated statements here regarding how to approach our sincere questions. 🙏🏻

In my opinion, there is one major difference between the Terrestrial and Celestial Kingdoms…and D&C 76 describes it well.

The biggest part of D&C 76 is the understanding of the three degrees of glory, so today we start with the lowest - welcome to the Telestial Kingdom!

Obviously Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith to tell him where the plates were buried and prepare him to get them. In my opinion, Moroni was the perfect mentor for Joseph because the scriptures show is that they had more in common than we originally think. If you’d like to view the video that goes with this podcast, click here
Other than the First Vision, we don’t really know a ton about Joseph’s teenage years. But, the JSH gives us a little into his character and possibly some things to be aware of in ourselves, regardless of our age.If you’d like to view the video that goes with this podcast, click here

Whenever you have a spiritual experience - either before, after, or sometimes both, you’ve got to expect opposition in some form. Today’s episode is a short one, but it’s a good one. It’s one of my favorite principles of the gospel. So grateful that Moroni exhorted me to remember this. 🙏🏻If you’d like to view the video that goes with this podcast, click here
Most everyone who has read the Book of Mormon is familiar with Moroni’s promise or challenge. But there is one word that to me, adds a different dimension to our whole experience of determining the truthfulness of this wonderful book. 😀If you’d like to view the video that goes with this podcast, click here
One of the most important “exhortations” from Moroni is to have us remember how merciful the Lord has been in our lives. That message really seems to be the bookends of the Book of Mormon along with everything in between. 🙏🏻If you’d like to view the video that goes with this podcast, click here

Have you ever wondered why Moroni is at the top of most of our temples? Yes, I know - we won’t be seeing him up there as much in future temples, but I think his example of proclaiming the gospel and standing as a lone witness is such a nice thing to see on top of our holiest places. 😇If you’d like to view the video that goes with this podcast, click here

God has always been a God of miracles...ALWAYS! But our faith (in his will, his abilities, and his timing) are huge parts of whether or not that miracle will or won’t happen. I love how prophets often compare their experience with spiritual things with food. Just like his grandfather Abraham and his father Isaac before him, it is crucial that Jacob marry in the covenant and have posterity…but, man - what a crazy adventure these two chapters are in getting him there! 😂

Genesis 28 gives some great context to a very familiar hymn of ours and gives some excellent counsel on getting “Nearer, My God, to Thee” 😇

Abraham is a hero! I mean, not everyone has a covenant named after them, right? There several things that we can learn from the life of Abraham to also be considered, like he was “a friend of God”. 😇

What a crazy chapter! Can righteous people be deceived? We humans are a messy bunch aren’t we? Thank goodness there is a merciful, all-knowing God who still accomplishes his will…even when we get in the way and try and help in very clumsy, myopic ways.

The real reason for failure is giving up what we want the most for what we want at the moment.

If the continuation of the covenant from Abraham to Isaac is of the utmost importance, then who Isaac marries is absolutely crucial! Rebekah is “a ten camel companion” in so many ways… 😀

Genesis 24 is is a crucial chapter in the continuation of the covenant that God made with Abraham as it hinges on Isaac marrying in the covenant. And it has some personal meaning to me as well. 😀

We should constantly be looking for Jesus Christ in the stories in the scriptures. The story of Abraham and Isaac is a perfect example of this. 🙏🏻

If you think about the question “Is any thing too hard for the Lord?”, our initial response is “of course not!”. That said, it is one thing to believe that God can do all things but another to realize that it can actually happen in your own life as well.

The story of Lot’s wife and looking back at Sodom after she was specifically commanded not to is a tragic story…with some great application for us. 🧂

To keep the Abrahamic Covenant, to be different than the world and to have the Spirit of the Lord, we need to be very cautious in our homes and in our personal lives to not even except a thread of what the world has to offer.

When Abram and Lot separated, Lot chose the more “well-watered” area and pitched his tent “toward Sodom”. Where you decide to pitch your tent can make a huge difference in where you end up.

The story of Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar is a messy story where otherwise faithful people panic when the fear of God’s promises not coming to pass is in their minds. I love the principle taught in this chapter to help any who feel misunderstood, confused, or fearful.

Back in Abraham 1:2, one of the things Abraham desired was to be “a prince of peace”. This story gives us a perfect example of that righteous desire in practice. Pretty sure there’s a lesson here for us in this divisive and contentious world.

In a world that is absolutely obsessed with labeling and dividing us - of all the “identities” to be known as, “the seed of Abraham” is a pretty amazing identifier. 😇

The “Thoughts to Keep in Mind” about The Covenant in the CFM Curriculum this month is awesome! “Did this covenant give Abraham, Sarah, and their descendants a privileged status among God’s children? Only in the sense that it is a privilege to bless others.” So good!

Desire is a pretty crucial thing in our lives. It dictates where we put our energy and priorities. It is cool to see what Abraham desired and sought after and what it led him to…and how it has blessed my life. 🙏🏻

The Tower of Babel is such an interesting story. You’ve got a group of people who are trying to get into the presence of God by doing things their own way rather than doing them the way God wants them to do it. There’s definitely a valuable lesson there for you and me in our desires to get closer to God.

It must have been pretty frustrating for Noah to invite all to get in the ark and to have them ignore his counsel. I’m so grateful for a modern-day Noah who is not only inviting us to do the same thing, but asking us to “flood the earth” with messages of goodness in hopes that they will choose to get in the ark and choose to stay.

The Lord asked Noah to build an ark. I can only imagine the questions, concerns, doubts that Noah had along the way in the building process. There are more than a few lessons for us here as we are preparing for the “floods” of life.

I imagine that the account of the flood could really scare a lot of people into obeying God out of fear. But if you remember the Lord’s work and glory, then the flood could be viewed as one of the most merciful acts from a loving God.

How wicked were the people in Noah’s day? It’s kind of sobering to see how similar they were to the things going on in our day.

As long as the Lord has had a people on the earth, his goal has been to gather them and establish Zion. He did it for Enoch and his city, he wanted to do it with the early Saints, and would also love to do it with us...as we LET GOD PREVAIL.

In our world where “men’s hearts (are) failing them, (as they are) looking forth with fear”, let’s be the ones who are sweeping the earth with a flood of righteousness and providing hope to those failing hearts. 😇

Through Enoch, the Lord was able to create a Zion people. 😀. Sometimes when we read scriptural accounts, we forget that this all didn’t happen in a couple of days. The phrase “in process of time“ means everything when you are trying to build something God-like.

In order for Enoch to build Zion, he had to change the way he viewed the people around him. Once we do that, miracles can happen! 👀
