The Maryland Department of State Police is proud to have employees who also serve our country as members of the National Guard or Reserves. Life can often be challenging for those who have chosen to serve in this way as they fulfill the responsibilities of both their military and civilian careers.
The Maryland Department of State Police has become a national leader in providing support for those employees before, during and after their military service. In 2016, the Department received the Employer Support for Freedom Award, the highest honor the U.S. Department of Defense gives to employers for their support of National Guard and Reserve employees.

Traffic crashes can be complicated and are always inconvenient. The inconvenience is not just for the people involved. It extends to the hundreds and sometimes thousands of other drivers who are caught in traffic backups caused by the crash and the resulting response and investigation.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team was created to respond to the most difficult crash scenes. The expert crash investigators on the team are equipped with the latest tools and technology that enable them to collect evidence accurately and quickly, providing state troopers with the information they need while enabling them to clear the roadway and reopen it to traffic as rapidly as possible.
