Today I invite you to ground and center yourself in the present moment and be a witness to your own thoughts, emotions and your own healing unfolding. Life can be challenging, however when we allow ourselves to slow down and just be present , we begin to see clearly the depths of our inner-peace.
I know youâve been craving transformation and healing and perhaps mindfulness meditation is one tool that may be helpful to keep your moment going along your healing journey through daily practice and persistence.
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention, on purpose and without judgement, to what goes on in the present moment in your body, mind and your outside environment. It involves intentionally stepping out of âautomatic pilot modeâ to be present, aware and responsive.
In this present moment meditation for beginners, I invite to discover "presence"; in your being-ness just as you are. Simply sit without judgement and with a level of patience and compassion for yourself. I hope it brings just a little more peace in your day.
Mindfulness meditation is a discipline that can lead to profound self-awareness, inner healing and personal growth. You can access steps to heal yourself or others and this can be life changing. Are you ready to take action and start your healing journey today?

The level of chronic stress and busy lifestyles that we lead today can easily cause imbalances in the 5 elements of earth and our body. My purpose today is to briefly explain these elements and how to balance them with physical, emotional and spiritual self care practices .
Ancient traditions such as Ayurveda teaches us to live in harmony with nature, having a lifestyle that is aligned with our 5 elements, providing us with many tools to have a happier existence through self-care practices including prayer, meditation, Yoga etc...
Ayurveda is the sister science to yoga based on ancient text of observing the body and human behaviors and how minds and energy respond to different methods such as energetic, spiritual and physical methods.Â
In Sanskrit, âAyurâ means life and âVedaâ means science or knowledge and is commonly translated as âscience of life.âÂ
A more subtle and beautiful definition is âknowledge of longevity.â Ayurveda is Indian classical medicine, dating back more than 6,000 years.Â

There is an opportunity for awareness and upshifting our thinking to overcome stress, anxiety, depression and even chronic disease symptoms.
In this video, I discuss some of the hidden stressors of the mind and how one can begin upshifting there thinking through challenging one's underlying beliefs, values and conditioned perceptions through cognitive restructuring.
After viewing this video, I challenge you to ink back throughout your lifeâs history and recall moments where you had a set-back and or even success in your relationships, your career, your health your finances, or you experienced a significant change or transition in your life.
-How did you act, react or respond?
-What inactions did you take?
-What were your beliefs surrounding it?
-How did you feel about yourself during these momentsâŚhow did you feel in your body?
-What were the sensations you felt in your body as a result of this set-back or success?
As you go through this activity, choose 3 beliefs and 3 actions/or inactions that conflict with your true essence or that conflict with your intentions and goals for your well-being in every area of your life and begin to substitute a more accurate view of these events to come to a healthier state of mind.
Through this activity you are beginning the steps of cognitively restructuring your brain. And by challenging those assumptions surrounding stress you can view situations more accurately .

Watch this episode on YouTube{Rights to use this music through audio--"Healing Light Relaxing Meditation" by jjessep): Today, I challenge you to spend time doing a form of mindful movement or exercise. (Always consult with a physician before beginning any new exercise activity).Mindful movement can have a major influence and a cascade effect on every area of your life including your relationships, your career, your sense of health and wellbeing, your ability to cope with stress and uncertainty in your life. It can help you train your brain to be more responsive to experiences and not reactive to whatâs happening internally and externally.Example of mindful movements: Yoga Walking Tai Chi Qi Gong Dancing Swimming Gardening Bike Riding Aerobic Exercises Lifting WeightsWhatever activity you choose today, move and breathe in a way that shifts you into being fully present in the now. Remember as you go through these activities just notice what sensations and emotions arise without judging the experience.Follow these steps: Step 1- Take a few slow deep breaths  Step 2.-- Begin to simply notice what sensations you feel in your body as you begin to move mindfullyâŚ(for example simply say to yourself I notice tingling, vibration and warmth in my calf and thighs as I begin to stretch or wall) Step 3- Stay mindful and focused on your breathing pattern as you move. Noticing the change in the rhythm of your breath as you move Step 4- Bring your awareness back to the sensations of each part of your body moving from your feet to your crown as you learned in the body scan. Just be with the experience of mindfully moving and not judging the experience as good or bad. Notice if you have a sense of gratitude as you move. Step 5- Notice how movement makes you feel emotionally.  What thoughts and emotions arise as you move? Let the thoughts come and go like clouds floating in the sky. Step 6- If your mind wonders, bring your attention to your breath and your body sensations as you move Step 7- As you finish your mindful movement, simply notice how you feel after. (What sensations do you feel in your body now? Notice the level of your mood).Overall, notice how your mindful movement made you feel overall in your entire body in general, in your mind and in your spirit. Notice if the mindful movement helped you become more aware of self in the moment. Did it help you flow easier through your day? Were you able to cultivate mindful breathing with a sense of calm, more energy and vitality, and a greater sense of peace?Remember to journal about your experience today! When we experience anxiety, discomfort, excessive stress, pain, illness or injury, grief or a life transition, there can be a disruption in the vital flow of human energy that is normally a continuous whole state. When the biofield  is altered this can impact our personal well-being, our personal health status, energy level and one's quality of life.

At the heart of the immune system/lymphatic system is the balance of energies that flow through the body and mind; innately designed to keep you healthy. When the immune systems (microbiome and the lymphatic system) are in balance, the body naturally rids itself of toxins and protects the body from dis-ease where a state of health can be achieved. When the immune system is plagued with unhealed trauma, emotional baggage and toxic-chronic oxidative stress and psychological stress it begins attacking itself. Â Â
Knowing a little about how these systems work in concert can help you bring your own body and emotions back to healing. Also knowing a little bit about Ayurveda and your unique body constitution/doshas can help you gain a deeper understanding of what your unique body needs (as we are all unique and what works well for one may not for another). The body is complex and eating nutritious foods, getting adequate movement and rest can also help lower your stress for optimal health of your microbiome and immune system.Â

Most of the energy we get to spend is delivered by minuscule living structures inside our cells called the mitochondria. How resilient to stress, how active we are and ultimately how healthy and happy we are depends depends a great deal on the health of our mitochondria.

What are you desiring to heal from? Â What are you hoping to embrace more of in your life?Â
The human body was innately designed to self-heal. External approaches are often a band aid solution. When you begin tapping into your own power within, you can reawaken your natural healer within. Healing is an inside job and all that it requires is setting an intention daily to create  a nurturing space for yourself to go within and tap into your Divine energy flow.Â
In this episode, I talk about why we don't engage in self-healing practices and I offer a few ways to begin channeling your own energy.

Today, in this bonus episode, we are going to practice a mindful body scan. (Do this practice while not driving). This activity will help you bring your awareness inward. Usually, our attention jumps around between the mind and the external world, so we want to start to bring it inward. The body scan is also one of the simplest and most effective techniques to prepare the mind and body for meditation. While many people find the body scan relaxing, relaxation is not the primary goal. The goal is to train the mind to be more open and aware of sensory experiencesâand ultimately, more accepting. With time and practice, the body scan will build your ability to focus and be fully present in your life.
To practice a body scan, we are simply observing the sensations and feelings of the body. We focus our attention at the different parts of the body and the sensations associated with that part of the body. As a result, we allow the body to relax as we focus. We often develop adverse relationships with our bodies and mindfulness can be used to bring back appreciation and gratitude for the body.
The Benefits of the Body Scan Practice:
â˘Enhances your ability to bring your full attention to real-time experiences happening in the present momentâhelpful when emotions or thoughts are heightened.
â˘Trains to explore and be with pleasant and unpleasant sensations, learning to notice what happens when we stick with the practice and feel whatâs going on in the body without trying to fix or change anything.

In this episode, I explain how we are deeply connected to the consciousness of our family, ancestral and tribal unit. Unconsciously we carry the strength, beliefs, superstitions, fears, attitudes and perceptions; we carry all of this in our cells, our DNA, in our body and in our energy center. Due to strong energetic entanglement or  interconnectedness we also take on energetically the effects of disease and illness.Â
This energetic phenomena helps to explain why certain diseases are activated by generational trauma and ancestral, family & tribal issues.  Energy medicine is a therapeutic practice that can get to the root  and release unconscious energies that may predispose us to certain illnesses and diseases related to collected consciousness. Grounding/Earthing can invite peace, healing and presence in the mind, body, soul and spirit. Itâs not surprising that nature has a therapeutic effect when you consider that the human race â and all our evolutionary forebears â have been closely bonded with it for all our existence.
The human body, just like nature, is made up of the five elements earth, water, fire, air and spaceâŚwhich 75-90% of is mostly waterâŚIndigenous cultures have always understood this and the significant bond between humans, creation and nature. Being out in nature is like going back home, and it fills us with the same sense of safety and belonging. This almost always gives me a sense that âall is well" in my life!
Nature reminds us to be in the present and experience a connection to âsomething other than ourselves,â âa higher powerâ that draws us to a wider perspective. Being in nature reminds us that thereâs so much more going on than just our own issues or challenges of the day. Consider these elements of nature:
-Nature is an embodiment of the mind, soul, body and spirit
-Nature has healing-vibrational effects from the: trees, flowers, soil, grass, water, air, ground.
-Nature can help expand the discovery of Self, self-acceptance and personal perspectives on life challenges.
-Nature invites deep connections and belongingness through its' healing properties and with our creator and humanity.

Our emotional wellbeing isnât in the hands of our external circumstances: we have the power to choose how to react in every given situation. Emotions are not to be feared they are simply energy in motion and are messengers that simply remind us to realign to our nature essence of love, harmony and peace. Â In this episode, I talk about mindful ways to be more accepting of your emotions and to not resist them where much of our suffering and stress stems from.

Are you feeling low on energy due to chronic stress?
Ancient cultures throughout time understood the importance of consuming high vibrational foods (natural and closest to the earth and sun) and how the food we eat affects our individual energy centers within the body and around the body.
When the human energy field is disrupted it creates disharmony within the body, mind, and spirit and leads to illness and disease.
Usually the human biofield (auric field) and the energy centers within the body can maintain its own balance and harmony however when there is a crisis, illness, chronic stress, trauma or disruption from unhealthy foods, chemicals, additives, drugs and medications these events constantly drain our energy centers.
This creates imbalance and disharmony in the energy field, the brain and the body which can significantly effect our personal well-being, our overall quality of living and even our personal health status.
In this episode Dr. K offers suggestions on high vibrational foods and ways to incorporate mindful eating and gratitude into your daily eating routine.

Improve Your Life & Health with Reiki Reiki is life force energy that can bring you back to a state of balance and wholeness. Reiki is an evidence-based- Japanese healing technique for pain, stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing for the mind, body, soul and spirit in conjunction with traditional medicine. It is administered by "laying of the hands" on or slightly above the client's body. Reiki is based on the idea of an unseen and subtle "lifeforce energy" that flows through, within and around the human body.
When the 'lifeforce energy" is free and flowing, the individual feels a sense of vitality, health, wholeness and joy. When low or stagnant energy is present, the individual may suffer from depression, stress, fatigue and may be more susceptible to various illnesses and/or diseases of the mind and body.

In the context of midlife, it is important to consider the various challenges that we all commonly experience on an everyday basis to our emotional well-being. We all have the usual worries like paying bills, or dealing with loss and grief or changing careers, relationship issues etcâŚ
đWe often think of the big life changing events and major stressors as being bad for our health but in actuality itâs those little daily stressors and annoyances like slow WiFi, waiting in traffic, constantly getting emails⌠social media alerts, hearing bad news all day etc⌠that negatively impacts our health in a big way!
đAll of these little daily stressors and annoyances add up and accumulate â keeping us in a very reactive, habitual and chronic stress response if we allow them to.
đAnd you donât have to allow itâ- there are many things in life that we can not control obviously, but within you is a sanctuary of peace and the Power to choose how you relate and respond to lifeâ-
đMindfulness, attitude, perception and responding without reacting are some key ways to begin protecting your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health against the little daily stressors so you can experience more ease, Joy and peace in your lifeâŚ

In this episode hear about the inspirational wellness and spiritual journey of our guest as she talks about multiple spiritual healing modalities (yoga, meditation, Reiki, breathwork, medical cannabis and more to achieve higher states of well-being in mind, body, soul and spirit.
The spiritual journey is individual, highly personal and not everyone will follow the same path....its about finding the right path for YOU!
Spiritual healing is not linked to any particular religion or faithâŚ..even skeptics can be healedâŚ.and you donât have to look externally for itâŚeveryone has the natural ability to tap into âDivine energyâ or the âUniversal energyâ to channel healing energy.
Spiritual practices discussed:
4 common paths to yoga discussed in episode for those seeking a deeper spiritual journey:
⢠KARMA YOGA - It is the yoga of action, the path of selfless service.
⢠BHAKTI YOGA --It is the devotional approach of yoga, the one of pure love. This path involves surrendering oneself to God in order to realize the highest Truth.
⢠JĂÄNA YOGA âThis is the philosophical approach to yoga, the yoga of knowledge which is about using intellectual inquiry for spiritual evolution.
⢠RAJA YOGA --This is the scientific, step-by-step approach of yoga which pa-tan-jaliâs 8 limbs of yoga falls under ..which is outlined in the yoga sutras and is about how to live a morally disciplined and purposeful life, and about learning to control the conditioned mind through physical asanas or right posturesâŚthrough breathing techniques, withdrawal of the 5 senses, focused concentration, and meditation and reaching samadhi or bliss or enlightenment as the higher intent...âŚ
Quote mentioned in episode: ¡ âThe spiritual quest is not some added benefit to our life, something you embark on if you have the time and inclination. We are spiritual beings on an earthly journey. Our spirituality makes up our beingnessâ. John Bradshaw

The The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom is a self-help book written by bestselling author Don Miguel Ruiz with Janet Mills.
The book offers a code of conduct claiming to be based on ancient Toltec wisdom that advocates freedom from self-limiting beliefs that may cause suffering and limitation in a person's life. Many self-limiting beliefs are created in our childhood. Devastatingly, they become part of our identity. This is a profound book full of ancient wisdom about how to live a life of peace and come into an awareness of our conditioned belief systemsâŚour conditioned self-limiting beliefs that we did not come up with authentically ourselves.
The good news is we can embrace a new narrative.
We can challenge our beliefs and re-program our thoughts.
âBy knowing what you are not, you come to know thyself.â

Agreement 2: Donât Take Anything Personally
Agreement 3: Donât Make Assumptions

Known as The Curvy Fit RN, Dr. K is joined in episode 14 with Trynette Lariba, RN, BSN who specializes in helping curvy women reclaim their love for their curvy bodies, heal from lifeâs trauma( yes being born with an adult figure and experiencing all that comes with that can be overwhelming) and gain discipline they need to succeed in fitness and life. She teaches curvy women to accept the gift of their body and to be good stewards of their curvy health. Loving thy self must be in alignment with actions and behavior. She doesnât take shortcuts and firmly believes that curvy women can live their best lives without having to fit into societyâs standards of what is deemed healthy solely based on weight in pounds. We have all heard stories of people who lost hundreds of pounds, only to gain it all back. In many cases, these people had an underlying problem (ex trauma, chronic stress etc) that could not be treated through exercise, surgery or diet alone. Without resolving the root cause of their weight gain, they could not maintain their results. Although various physical, hormonal and genetic predispositions can account for weight gainâŚHolistic weight loss takes every aspect of your life into account â physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social â to formulate a solution that works for the individual. Many of us are driven by wanting to look good, to feel good and be more confident in our bodies. Letâs face it we are humanâ¤ď¸âĽď¸đĽ°
But to stay motivated, we need to dig a little bit deeper beyond the body and reflect more on the deeper -#authentic- aspects of ourselves holistically.
Everyone has a reason to live a healthier, longer life.đĽ°đđ
The question đis though..WHO or WHAT motivates you to live a healthier, longer life?
This nitty gritty question is a powerful way to help you discover your WHY!đđâ
By answering this rather important question, we give POWER to our motivation and we can move forward within our most authentic nature in #mind, #body & #spirit Books discussed in episode âCourse in Weight Lossâ: 21 spiritual lessons to help you surrender your weight forever by Marianne Williamson. This book is not just about losing the weight in physical pounds based on societal standards but that of losing weight within our mind, negative emotions, past traumas, limiting beliefs, self perceptions, societal expectations, abusive relationships etc.. Book description from Amazon: A Course in Weight Loss addresses the true causal root of your weight-loss issues: a place within you where you have forgotten your divine perfection. This forgetfulness has confused not only your mind but also your body, making you reach for that which cannot sustain you . . . and reject that which does. As your mind reclaims its spiritual intelligence, your body will reclaim its natural intelligence as well.
Affirmations mentioned: My unique body is beautiful...my body nurtures, heals and provides. Quotes: "When you will find your reason to do it, you will feel that fire within you. The kind of motivation that makes you keep going while others give up."-Author unknown "Only the truth of who you are, if realized, will set you free" -Ekhart Tolle

In episode 13, Dr. K is joined with Michele McCay, RN, BSN, MBA, a nurse wellness strategist, global entrepreneur and an independent consultant who is on a journey to impact the lives of women and help them find their true purpose & GLOW from within!
Deep inside, we all know that we have this destinyâthis purposeâbut for many we are still waiting to activate it or just don't know the steps to take to get out of our own way. The outside world has worked hard to convince us that we are only what we see in the mirror. But we are so much more than that. Many of us come up against internal blocks such as limiting beliefs, fear, anxiety, self-doubt, perfectionism that holds us back from coming into our true essence and purpose. Even if someone does have an idea of their purpose, it's easy to drift away from it in a world that continually changes and evolves.
When we walk in our purpose we have more meaning in life which is an important ingredient for better health and wellness.
In today's episode Michele shares what purposes means for her and what has brought her to this point of purpose in their lifeâŚand how having purpose can positively impact every area of one's life.

In Episode 12, Dr. K talks about energy medicine and how we can restore health back into our bodies and how we can work with energy to tackle many health challenges we face as women. Each of us is an open energy system. The energy field is one aspect of the human energy system, the other parts being the chakras and meridians. This threefold system is vibrational in nature and continuously interacts within itself and with all other systems of the body. In energy field disruption the a person may present any number of concerns indicating disharmony and imbalance in one or more of these energy systems.
Usually the human biofield can maintain its own balance and equilibrium however when there is chronic stress, crisis, illness , injury or life transition, these issues can create imbalance in the energy field and can significantly affect our personal well-being, our overall quality of living and even our personal health status; leading to a host of dis-ease and imbalances within the bodyâŚ..
In many cases clients have tried several avenues of Western medicine may not be satisfied with the results. Treatment of the physical problem by surgical procedure or medication is often not adequate to bring balance and harmony to the person. The integration of energy work from the traditions of Eastern medicine with Western medicine is ideal. Energy-based therapies may identify problems before symptoms develop in the body.
⢠Dr. K discusses how to implement 5 simple daily energy healing practices you can do in a matter of a few minutes each day to shift energy habits in your body and rebalance your energy field and energy centers that can help you restore homeostasis and create balance.
These include:
o Meditation
o Chakra Healing
o Relaxation Techniques
o Connecting to Joy and Gratitude and Nurturing the Body
o Movement and Breathing Techniques

In episode 9, Dr. K discusses her battle with Graves disease(hyperthyroidism) and subsequent hypothyroidism from Radioactive Iodine Treatment. Dr. K shares 7 natural thyroid healing practices that have enabled her to improve the health of her thyroid gland and naturally reduce her thyroid supplementation dose.
Thyroid disease affects over 20 million people in the general population with women being about 8 times more more likely to be diagnosed with an autoimmune thyroid disorder. Unfortunately, more than 30 million people are having thyroid issues but have yet been diagnosed or misdiagnosed. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most common autoimmune thyroid disorder where the thyroid gland is not producing enough thyroid hormone. Graves disease, in comparison is a result of too much thyroid hormone or hyperthyroidism, or an overactive thyroid, which is less prevalent.
The thyroid is a small gland at the front of the neck. Itâs part of the endocrine system and produces hormones T3 and T4 which help regulate many processes and organs in the body.
We need the thyroid gland and thyroid hormones which controls various functions of energy and metabolism at both the cell and physical level.
The majority of thyroid issues are autoimmune in nature and so in these cases there is always a âtriggerâ that causes the onset. So a major part of healing the thyroid gland naturally is getting to the root cause of why the immune system has attacked the thyroid gland. Unfortunately, modern medicine takes an aim at treating symptoms, whereas a holistic-functional approach can look at the underlying cause of the autoimmune thyroid dysfunction.
7 Natural practices that Dr. K discuss that have been proven to improve the health of the thyroid gland include:
Assess stressors
Eliminate stressors
Optimize nutrition
Heal the gut
Restore the liver
Clear infections
Detox the home

In this episode, Dr. K answers the question, "Why do I feel so nervous as life returns to normal post Covid?"
Dr. K offers insight into how the body's natural "fight or flight" response is designed to protect us from internal or external threats but yet leads to an ongoing stress response in the body that doesn't turn itself off. As the body is faced with day to day threats from chronic stress, trauma, life stressing events etc...we are training the body to be "fearful". Just as we train the body to be afraid we can just as well train the body to be "safe". Various mind-body therapies and the positive research regarding its affect on various types of anxiety and chronic stress and reducing the symptoms associated with anxiety are promising as one learns to return home to the body through yoga and learns how to reduce the tendency for negative thoughts from arising through combined Yoga-CBT.
Exposure therapy and Cognitive Behavior therapy or CBT have been considered the gold standard for many anxiety disorders such as social anxiety disorder and generalized anxiety disorders, but what we know is that, Yoga-CBT intervention may be particularly effective because it addresses both cognitive and physiological processes at once. So, âboth work together very effectively because while yoga reduces the physiological causes of anxiety, thereby reducing the tendency for negative thoughts to arise, CBT focuses on altering the content of negative thoughts as they arise. Moreover, while traditional CBT teaches patients to replace maladaptive thoughts, the addition of yoga may prevent these thoughts from appearing at all.
Yoga infused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), meditation and mindfulness-based CBT offers an accessible and promising intervention for anxiety and anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorders. It is strongly suggested that we need more options to treat anxiety because different people will respond to different interventions, and having more options can help overcome barriers to care. Having a range of effective treatments can increase the likelihood people with anxiety will feel more empowered and willing to engage in evidence-based care.

In this episode (episode #4) "What you should know about uterine fibroids and how to keep them from controlling your life with Dr. Coleman", Dr. K is joined with Dr. Cameo Coleman and board certified family nurse practitioner who has extensive research and knowledge surrounding the issue of uterine fibroids and its' associated disparities within the African American female population. Uterine fibroids are a public health concern for all women however. Fibroids are affecting women at staggering numbers (_%65-80% in the general population and (as much as 90% in African American women).
As uterine fibroids are most present during a woman's reproductive years they are the 2nd leading cause of surgery (hysterectomy) for women in the United States. Dr. Coleman is here to discuss other options outside of the conventional surgery including ablation and laser treatments for example. Dr. Coleman also discusses:
-What uterine fibroids are, their prevalence and their cause
-Signs and symptoms of uterine fibroids
-How uterine fibroids are diagnosed
-Uterine fibroid treatment options
-The affect of diet, exercise, movement and stress management on reducing uterine fibroid risks and development.
Fibroids can disrupt a women's quality of life when accompanied with unrelenting symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, which can lead to symptomatic and dangerously low blood counts(anemia), prolonged periods, pelvic pressure symptoms, infertility and reproductive dysfunction.
There is a gap in studies that assess the overall impact on a woman's mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Fibroids can significantly impact a woman's daily activities, quality of life and can even lead to fear and despair surrounding a woman's sense of control over her symptoms, overall health and her life.
Uterine fibroid awareness is critical for women, especially for African American women where the risk factors grow significantly. Although uterine fibroids are a major health problem and threat there is hope and there are many conventional and alternative treatments available that can potentially cure and lessen the symptoms of uterine fibroids.

In this episode Dr. K is joined with Gaby Udabor, a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and wellness expert. Gaby is the founder and CEO of Gaby U Health and Wellness Hub https://www.gabyuhealthhub.com. I this podcast Gaby discusses the elements of functional health and how it serves to prevent and reverse chronic illnesses. Functional Medicine is a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of a disease. Functional medicine clinics take the holistic approach to understand who you are, knowing that every person is unique and should have a medical plan that is custom fit for their needs. Instead of determining which drug will cure a disease, functional medicine clinics have doctors that discover why you have an ailment in the first place, and to restore whatâs no longer functioning. Think of medicine in terms of a science experiment. Experiments with limited variables are easier to find solutions for. The more complex the problem, the more difficult the solution becomes. The human body is full of variables. Lifestyle, genetic makeup, personality, and environmental factors are just a few, and within each of these basic categories are countless more variables. Too often, traditional physicians treat the disease and not the patient. They donât take the timeâand, in their defense, canât take the timeâto understand all of the variables that make you unique. While the standard model of care works well for acute diseases, trauma, infection, and emergencies, it fails to care for the chronic diseases. When we experience dis-ease, there is a tendency to think in terms of absolutes: curable or incurable. This is partly due to the Western medicine model and partly due to modern society's dualistic nature. Our experiences are often lumped into black-and-white categories, leaving little room for the gray areas where much of life unfolds. The words "healing" and "curing" are used interchangeably, but after being diagnosed with an incurable disease, I now realize that their definitions could not be more different. visit designandwellness.com Join our private facebook community at https://www.facebook.com/groups/153651943307031/
