In this episode we're talking about the Feminine Power of Courage. How can we use it to create a positive impact through business and why it is so important especially in the post pandemic world?

The key points are

  • The pandemic has given us the opportunity to re-evaluate business culture and work life balance. The Great Resignation is underway. People want to live a life of meaning and well-being, even if it means taking a pay cut.
  • Old structures are crumbling. We need a feminine approach to business that supports longer term sustainable business practices and respects the integrity and well being of the individual and teams.
  • Research shows that historically women tend to underestimate their value, skills and contribution to society and the workplace. It's time to change the rules and create a new game that allows feminine superpowers of co-creation, collaboration and connection to flourish for the benefit of all.
  • We're at a tipping point. It takes courage to change oneself and to lead positive change for others. Feminine courage is about celebration, appreciation and gratitude
  • Courage needs to be practised and grows when we play and experiment with it.

Season 1 Finale
In this episode we're talking openly about our collaboration coming to an end and what that means for our respective futures. We reflect on the beautiful struggle of two very different woman entrepreneurs co-creating a business during the global Covid pandemic. We share the fears we had to overcome, the insights which have changed us for ever, and the celebrations we carry with us.

The key points are

  • The importance of showing up, connection and accountability to another human being when the world we thought we knew appears to be falling apart. We cannot succeed alone.
  • Feel the fear and do it anyway. Nothing is ever lost if we choose to take courageous action and participate fully in the experience.
  • The importance of embracing the beautiful struggle. Pain and emotions must be felt and expressed in order to heal and move forward.
  • We must be CEOs of our own lives first, business second. Empowerment is saying a 'clean' NO rather than a 'dirty' YES.
  • The value of perspective when assessing conventional notions of 'success' and 'failure'. Every choice we take, every person who travels with us , however long or short the journey, enriches us and becomes part of our ecstatically empowered journey.

We celebrate each and every guest who has made the Ecstatic Empowerment Podcast such an inspiring, educational and happy journey for us and our listeners. Every episode contains a story of how ordinary people can create extraordinary impact by choosing a life of joy and happiness aligned to their vision and purpose.

Many of us live in societies or economies founded on the conflicting principles of scarcity on the one hand and constant growth on the other. We're taught to want more, more money, bigger houses, bigger cars but this is not sustainable for our planet. There is a trade off when it comes to personal freedoms even to the extent of choosing the life we really want to live.

In this episode we are talking with Kyron Gosse, founder of Born to Do Awesome and a major activist for Tiny House movement in New Zealand.

A change maker, futurist and entrepreneur, Kyron believes that every person on this planet was born to do awesome, unfortunately most people get caught up in the daily grind, never being able to fulfil their purpose.

  • Kyron’s mission is to help people create freedom so they can spend less time working to pay the bills and more time following their passions, pursuing their purpose and doing more of what they love, whilst impacting the world.
  • Kyron does this by leveraging emerging trends and technologies in an effort to solve the housing crisis and the ultimate goal of completely removing the cost of living.
  • Kyron’s dream is that one day everyone in the world will have a roof over their head, food in their belly, clean water to drink and most importantly it will cost them nothing.

Humans weren't born to simply sit in traffic and pay bills. There are so many ways people can break free from the daily grind and live life on their own terms.

At its simplest, optimism is an expectation that good things will happen and things will work out in the end. There’s strong evidence that optimism will improve your health. There is a strong link between optimism and longevity. Infectious optimism is the essential trait of the globally successful leader.

Victor Perton is the Chief Optimism Officer of The Centre for Optimism and a Director of Project Optimism. The offspring of stateless refugees from the Baltics, Victor's early working years were spent in the law, politics and public policy culminating in 18 years in the Australian Parliament.

After working overseas, Victor returned to Melbourne, and was surprised by the negativity around Australian leadership and increasing levels of anxiety and depression in the community. This led to the founding of The Australian Leadership Project and, after a Eureka moment, the founding of its offspring The Centre for Optimism which now has over 5000 members and subscribers in 90 countries.

Today Victor's work centres on asking people the question "What makes you Optimistic?"

  • Spreading optimism starts with how we greet each other. Asking 'How are you? is a pointless question. Asking 'What makes you Optimistic?' lights people up and elicits a positive response.
  • Research shows that great leaders are infectious optimists. They focus on what's possible and look for opportunity at every level instead of problems.
  • Optimism is beneficial for everyone, from prisoners in jail to corporate leaders. The Delai Lama said that young people especially need a sense of optimism.
  • The media take a pessimistic approach to global issues such as climate changes and this is counter productive. People need hope in order to take positive action. Big brands understand this concept, hence their success.
  • There are 14 habits of an optimist. Ending every conversation with 30 seconds of laughter is one of them!

Art in all its forms has an important role to play in society and business. The life of an artist can be tough, yet artists have valuable skills that can inspire us to create positive change and live more sustainably.

In this episode we are talking with Amanda Tonna, a founder of the Creative Impact Agency based in Malta. Amanda shares her passion for art in its many forms. She sees artistic creations as a tool for activism to bring awareness and inspiration to solve the major challenges we face in the world.

Amanda has led numerous eco-related workshops and unique educational experiences in schools, activity centres for kids with special needs and independently. Amanda challenges people to think creatively about how to make a positive impact in the world. As a conscious and creative entrepreneur, she has run various sustainable businesses that involved up-cycling and vegan food production.

  • People are ultimately good and want to create goodness around them in sustainable communities
  • Business doesn't have to be hard work. Creativity activates the heart by taking us out of the thinking mind. This is where the best ideas and solutions can be found.
  • When we use creativity to create the future anything is possible. Art gives us permission to change the rules. We can literally create a more joyful, loving and sustainable world and artist communities around the world are already doing this.

Art and creativity are ways in which humanity can build sustainable futures and economies. The rate of change can happen exponentially - are you ready for it?

Breath is something we take for granted even though it's one of our basic needs. When we learn to work with our breath in positive and proactive ways we can access better health and higher states of consciousness that allow us to literally breathe life into our life's work.

In this episode we are talking with Jim Morningstar Ph D. Jim is a clinical psychologist, pioneer of transformational breathwork and co director of the Global professional Breathwork Alliance . He's also the founder of InWellness which promotes healthy lifestyles and communities. Jim believes that the power to create your dream is literally right under your nose!

  • We can change the way we think and feel by consciously deciding to change the way we breathe.
  • Breathwork and meditation relax the body and enable us to reach joyful states of being naturally. We respond differently to situations when we are relaxed, seeing new perspectives and opportunities to previous challenges.
  • Too many of us, especially in Western culture have become hyper vigilant, meaning we are constantly on alert and therefore either holding our breath and not breathing at full capacity. This has a detrimental impact on our health and neurology.
  • When it comes to breathing there are many techniques but we are all different so what works for one person may not work for another.
  • Breathwork transforms lives by creating a shift of consciousness at the individual level. The ripple effect will be a shift of consciousness for the collective that will change the way we live and work in new and joyful ways.

Are you ready to use the power right under your nose?

Climate change poses one of the greatest threats to humanity and our very existence on planet earth. Climate action is, therefore, a moral and existential imperative. Businesses have a vital role to play in reversing climate change. In fact, being a champion for climate action can be good for business.

In this episode we are talking with serial entrepreneur, investor, and climate advocate Dennis Hettema. Dennis is the Head of Sales at Ecologi and a founding partner of the Million Tree Pledge. He believes that consumers do care about climate change and businesses can reduce 'climate anxiety' by providing simple and practical ways for people to make a real difference.

  • When given the choice, consumers increasingly want environmentally friendly products. Businesses have the ability to make climate action simple for consumers by producing better goods and services that make the customer's life easier and that have a positive impact on climate and the environment.
  • We all have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint. We can set eco-goals and technology helps us to measure our impact.
  • Planting trees and re-foresting the land lead to wider benefits. Trees and forests provide a natural eco-system for many forms of wild life to return.
  • It is possible to make a positive impact with small actions and without sacrificing everything and feeling bad. Real change comes through making better choices, voting with our wallets, and spending pro-actively and consciously.
  • We can achieve more by being kind to ourselves than by ignoring climate change and feeling anxious.

Are you ready to plant and grow your own forest?

Story telling is a powerful way of understanding our cultural heritage and usually focusses on what has already happened in the past. When we realise that we are creating our future history in every present moment we can make conscious choices about the narratives we want to be part of.

In this episode we talking with story telling expert Mark Lovett. Mark was saved from the corporate world by the art of storytelling when he got involved in organising TEDx events such as TEDxSanDiego. Mark now coaches speakers and conducts storytelling workshops at Storytelling with Impact, sharing insights gained with people who want to deliver personal talks that have the power to impact the lives of others.

  • We are not powerless. We have the power to choose the narratives we want to be part of including climate change and the future of our planet.
  • Scientists and conversationists are using powerful stories to speak up for the plight of our oceans and the voiceless world below.
  • By sharing our stories we can collectively empower others to take inspired action and dream bigger. We learn from each others successes and failures.

Are you ready to write the next chapter of your life or your business?

Leadership starts with self-leadership and Nature has some very powerful lessons to teach us here. And where better to reconnect with yourself and Nature than in the Mountains?

In this episode we are talking with Gerdi Verwoert of Dare Greatly Coaching. Gerdi is a Dutch mountain leader based in the Austrian Alps. She believes that creating a better world starts with self-leadership and reconnecting with nature.

  • Mountains force us to confront our own humanity, discover what we are truly capable of and literally discover a new perspective.
  • Saving the planet depends on us understanding that we are all part of nature, and not separate from her.
  • When we decide to overcome our fears and perceived physical limitations, we can experience true joy and elation.
  • Where we are born, is not necessarily our home. When we have the courage to follow our instincts, intuition and flow, we can literally change our world.

Businesses have the power to make a real impact in the world by solving all kinds of issues for their customers. When the spirit of giving is embedded into the culture and operations of an organisation the impact becomes even more powerful and the world becomes a happier, more caring place.
In this episode we're talking with Masami Sato. Masami is an award winning social entrepreneur, TEDx speaker and author, and CEO of B1G1based in Singapore. Masami had a simple idea: “What if every business could make a difference in their own way, just by doing what they normally do?” With more than a decade of work, this simple idea has now become a global movement of almost 3000 businesses and over 250 million impacts - and growing.

  • If we wait until the future to create an impact it may never happen. Taking positive action today no matter how small, can be very powerful.
  • We. can no longer ignore the big issues facing humanity and our planet. Partnership. and collaboration are the way forward.
  • Giving alone is not enough, but it creates a shift in mindset and consciousness that attracts the right people (employees, customers and stakeholders) that will enable businesses to evolve and ultimately transform the way we live and work for better.
  • Life is a game that. we get to share with other people. When we come together with the intention to enjoy the game, sharing all our differences and inequalities we can achieve better outcomes for everyone.
  • When we accept what we cannot change, we can live our lives more courageously and bring more love and joy into the world.

Music and art have historically been at the forefront of radical change in times of evolutionary crisis. As the world becomes more polarised and divided, music enables to unite in the spirit of cultural freedom and diversity. Music is, therefore, a superpower for positive change in society.
In this episode we're talking with Rich Jensen. Rich is a songwriter, entrepreneur and cultural activist based in Seattle. He is the Executive for Resonate Cooperative, a music-streaming platform owned and controlled by its artists, workers, and listeners around the world. An early collaborator with the K and Sub Pop recording labels, Rich built the business infrastructure for Sub Pop, establishing its rise in the 1990’s as a showcase for Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, and many artists to follow. Rich is passionate about the deep legacy of music and art as social superpowers for radical transformation in times of evolutionary crisis.

  • Music is connected to vibration and feeling. Music transcends language. Music connects us to our bodies and to each other
  • Streaming technology has made recorded music more accessible to the masses, but are algorithms destroying our social relationship with music and our freedom of choice?
  • Cooperatives like Resonate seek to democratise the music industry. They promote support for artists including fairer distribution of profits, co-ownership of the platform, and a say in how music and profits are distributed.
  • How we spend our time is important. The future of our communities and societies depends on our ability and willingness to listen. Real change begins with us.

In this episode we're talking about Empowerment in Business. Why is empowerment so important in our lives and in business? Is empowerment something that is given to you or does it come from within?

The key points are

  • Empowerment is about being sovereign and taking radical responsibility for how we show up in the world and collaborate with others
  • When we become leaders of our own lives and work we create a space for ourselves and others to be seen and heard.
  • The old paradigms are crumbling. We have an incredible opportunity to shape the future by creating cultures where every individual is valued and ultimately participates in the decision-making process.
  • We all need to start making a difference in our businesses and this becomes so much easier when we start from a place of ecstatic empowerment

'Ecstatic Empowerment: The Story' is about a feminine way of doing business, and empowering others to lead a joyful life and to co-create a meaningful change in the world.

Two co-CEO’s are launching a different kind of a business podcast. Its aim is to disrupt the old way of doing business and inspire a co-creation of a new, more feminine business world. This episode is the story of how co-hosts Anne Bland and Sue Jackson started on this journey.

The key points are:

  • People are tired of the old way of doing business which is based on patriarchal hierarchies and competition. Both people and the planet are burning. Exhaustion, devastation, and complex, ‘wicked’ problems cause havoc in businesses and in the world.
  • Ecstatic Empowerment desire to bring a new way of doing business which is more feminine, more collaborative, and more inclusive. Business world needs more fun and joy.
  • Sue and Anne decided to lead this movement in their own lives and set up Future Proof Your Business. But instead of calling themselves co-Chief Executive Officers, they chose different titles: Chief Ecstasy Officer and Chief Empowerment Officer. And as always, one thing leads to another, and they co-created Ecstatic Empowerment Movement.
