This week, Amisha Interviews Dr Prasanna Sooriakumaran (PS), a consultant urological surgeon. PS completed his medical training at the University of Nottingham and surgical training in the UK. He has a broad education, having completed a PhD on the topic of prostate cancer and a qualification in medical law from the university of Glasgow.

Dr Sooriakumaran is a global leader in prostate cancer care, he currently works at the UKs highest volume robotic prostate cancer centres at UCLH as well as the Princess Grace Hospital and London Bridge Hospital.

Dr Sooriakumaran established a London based clinic named Santis in 2017 and continues to be director, providing a great standard of care for patients with prostate cancer. He has been featured on numerous lists acknowledging this, including The Evening Standard’s list of London’s most influential doctors.

In this episode, you will hear about the growing role of robotics and technology in surgery, the daily life of one of the UK’s top robotic surgeons and his career pathway which includes various relocations across the globe.

In this episode Poppy and Amisha interview Dr. Ash Soni, a fully qualified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. This episode includes discussion about the main aspects of his journey.

Following medical school at Imperial College London, Dr. Soni relocated to the United States and completed a research fellowship at the world-renowned Weill Cornell’s New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Subsequently, Dr. Soni was selected by the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the leading hospital in the United States for surgery, where he completed his intern year in General Surgery.

Dr. Soni continued his rigorous training at the University of Washington, where he specialised in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, one of the most competitive training programmes in the country.

Dr. Soni then completed a one and a half year fellowship at the prestigious Royal Marsden Hospital in London, sub-specialising in Microvascular and Oncoplastic Surgery.
