He is a Yoruba priest of Obatala since age eleven and a member of Egbe Egungun (group dedicated to the venerationon of our ancestors) since age 13. He received his title as chief Alaagba (chief of staff to the ancestor veneration society) in 2011. Since his office as Alaagba, Babatunde has taken the Egbe Egungun across the nation to many universities such as UM madison, City College NY, Ohio State Columbus, RISD Brown University RI and many more. Also many festivals like Hyde Park Street fest Chicago, Umoja and Spoleto Fest SC, natural hair festival Dallas, and reestablished a lead position for Oyotunji in the African Day Parade Harlem, Organized many final rights and Egungun masquerade for many great african leaders. J. Efunlayo Maxey, M. Ed, R.M, is an ordained Yoruba/Lukumi Priest/Shaman trained in traditional African rituals and ceremonies; she is also a Reiki Master healer certified in the Usui System of Natural Healing. Over the years, Efunlayo has trained, taught, mentored and supported a vast number of individuals who have come to respect her work. One of her many gifts are to assist individuals with bridging the gap between metaphysical principals and traditional western spirituality.
