Continuing real lives, real stories, real people, The Lock down Legacy talk to Sean about his time in and out of lock down and also speaks very openly about his own journey of mental health challenges. He works for a housing association and has spent many months looking after the mental health of many of his companies tenants. Not just as housing repairs, but many of the tradesmen see themselves as mental health support lines, checking on tenants. His hot tip, try and roll with it and it is ok to be ok.
Lisa is a Senior Community Mental Health practitioner in and around Gainsborough. Here she talks about the tribulations of setting up a new team during the pandemic and how difficult it is when there is compulsory home working an d no face to face connections. Her hints and tips, quite simply, stay connected as best you can. Try and engage and talk to people, do not suffer in silence. Do things what make you feel good, such as sing a longs to ABBA. She talks openly about her struggles with moving house and her mental and physical stuggles during her time in Lock Down. She talks about her role in the community during her lock downs and is also very honest when she tells us that she even started to plan her own funeral, as she was in so much fear of catching covid from one of her patients and then passing it on to her family. Another very open and honest podcast from Jamie. Here he talks about that all through the Lock Downs he was working and in one job he truly was not right for. He left that job and his mental health began to suffer and he went down that black hole to depression. His new job pulled him out of that hole and he now loves what he is doing; working on Covid testing sites all around the country. He love the job and the people who he is now working with. They are from all walks of life from teachers to physical education instructor. He now feels much better physical too and this in turn has improved his mental health dramatically.

Another in our series The Community Speaks. This is Trina's story who tell us about how, at first she enjoyed the lockdowns. It gave her time to slow down and spent the first couple of weeks as though she was on holiday and the reality kicked in a news of her mother, who was in a nursing home at the time, had contracted Covid19. Consequently, because of the illness, Trina's mother passed away. The hardest part of all this, was the lack of people allowed at the funeral. She told her self. It is what it it!
In this podcast we hear how Haley got so bad during Lock Down , she had to send for the mental health crisis team. This is a very open and frank testimony of how a young woman has survived her lock down ordeal by staying positive. She found help and support from her friends too, always knowing that there would be someone there to talk to and who would help her through her dark days.

As well as having his own physical and mental health challenges, he is also a carer for many many of his own family. He is, one of the country's unsung heroes; a full time carer. His lock down was a mixed bag of emotions; going from been uber busy to almost having nothing to do. In his own mind he felt as though he was the bottom of the pile, but now lockdown has brought him a positive outlook about himself. He felt needed. His hint is, take time to connect, not only with other, but mainly yourself. As a carer, take the opportunities where you can. His big hint, take time to yourself.

She found it very dark at times as she missed human contact. Her only company was a new dog and the occasional visit from her Community Psychiatrist Nurse and her Social Worker. In this episode we meet Adele for the second time, who to help her with her own lock down and mental health challenges decided to help others. Since we lad met, her mental health has been very up and down and her partner seems to have experienced a little bit of the same. She turns to her music and online course to try and keep her depression at bay. She is trying very hard not to stay in bed all day and tries to maintain good self care, but as she says, it is very hard sometimes.

Another great testimonial story about what Michelle has been going through during the Lockdowns'. She talks mainly about the mental health of her family, especially her children. She also talks about how difficult it is to home school her children as the school circular is so difficult and the demands on her kids are realy a stretch for all of them. After a series of mini strokes Paul emerged to see every one wearing masks as they would at a mascaraed ball. He thought this a bit strange till he saw what we were going through; the lock downs. He fills his lockdown days by reading and drumming and says he never get board. He also told us that he finds it easy, as a man to talk about his mental health and encourages other men to do the same. Don't suffer in silence. As a student almost ready to leave university, Rebecca's saw her future as bright having just landing a job before her university mate's then Lock Down's came and she lost the job before she even started. She found it all so strange and overwhelming. Not to be beaten, she carried on with the grind and the hustling, she eventually left university, (No graduation because of Covid19 restrictions), and now has a job at a local housing association. Eamonn's story is one of true grit. He was A very successful chef before Lock Down, in a very well patronised restaurant; that is till the restaurant was forced to close indefinitely. With this, Eamonn took his skills as a top chef and decided to feed the needy. This is what he does now, going round to those less fortunate than others or can't get out because of Lock Down or illness, and gives them a home cooked meal.
Yvonne's story is one of true strength and resilience. She tells us how she cared for both her ex-husband and her new partner when they were diagnosed with terminal cancer at the same time - she found herself being the carer for both. She talks about what she gained from being locked down, having suffered with mental health challenge during the enforced lock down. She came out the other side, with the help of social prescribing, a better person and took more time to take care of her self.

Vic's story of being a local driving instructor who had to completely reinvent himself during Lock Down. First of all he had to find work in a factory and when that ended he got a job with the local council as a Bin Man; a job he enjoyed as he had some pals and comrade to communicate with. His life's philosophy, 'always take time to laugh' . "If you can't laugh, find someone who can help you laugh".

Roxanne talks openly and honestly about her mental health struggles and challenges and how she dealt with being locked down. Her strength was challenged when she started to develop physical symptoms as well as mental health challenges. At the end of it all she found she had now started to suffer from anxiety as well as all her other issues. An avid online game player, this was her only escape whilst being in Locked Down. Turning to the internet, Roxanne now has an online friend in Sweden and they now refer to each other as sisters. Thank you for being so open Roxanne.
A interesting take on Lock Down. How a busy Chief Executive of a company who looks out for carers managed to take care of herself, her family and, (LONG DISTANCE THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA), also kept Intouch with her 85 year old father during Lock Down having to the decision not to furlough the staff. Here Sarah talks about her time in Lock Down and how she mainly took care of her daughter, who has sever depression which was escalated by Lock Down. She tried to pass her time by doing some creative art with sequins but all the time kept a close eye on both her own and her daughters mental health.
