Welcome to this week's episode of Letters to the Imperfectly Perfect Mom with Coach Denna Michelle. In this week's episode we will be exploring Trauma.
Being trauma informed is very important when it comes to having children. Most parents believe that children don’t go through a lot, but they actually do. Some of the warning signs for dealing with trauma that you can look for in your child are withdrawal from usual hobbies or activities of their liking, anger outbursts, change in their food intake (may eat more or may eat less), may become more self-conscious of their image or may be more emotional than usual. If your child has experienced trauma or you’re unsure, tap into some of your local resources that you may have to see if they can assist. Look for support groups, youth programs, therapists, and other activities to help your youth get through their hardships. Lastly, be kind to yourself as a parent.
If your child experienced trauma, seek therapy or support groups for yourself as well so that you too are supported. Words from Lakeeta Watts

Welcome to our first episode of Letters to the Imperfectly Perfect Mom with Coach Denna Michelle. In this week's episode we will be exploring Child Discipline.
There are two things discipline should teach children. Disciplining should teach your child responsible behavior and self-control. With appropriate and consistent guided discipline, your child will learn about consequences and taking responsibility for their own actions. There are three different ways of discipline. Preventative, guided/supportive, and corrective discipline. In this episode, we focused on guided/supportive discipline. This discipline occurs in the case of a wrongdoing that happens and you teach the child what they should do next time. It is usually a verbal warning or a suggestion for the correction of behavior.
