Life can be challenging and oftentimes we get stuck when living it. Priscilla Bengtson and Bethany Kowaleski are here to help you accept the life you are living without resistance and then find your something better. There is always something better to reach for. You just have to know it exists and take a step towards it.
Have you made it through something difficult but still feel like part of you is living inside the experience?
In this episode of This Life or Something Better, Priscilla explores the difference between surviving a painful chapter and truly becoming resilient through it. Resilience is not only about getting through hardship. It is about adapting, changing your relationship with the story, and choosing how you want to live afterward.
Priscilla shares how her father's passing became the beginning of her spiritual path and explains how repeating a painful story can keep your mind, body, and energy connected to the past. Using her 4A Process - Awareness, Acceptance, Awaken, and Action - she offers a practical way to move from survival mode into greater strength, purpose, and possibility.
Your story is part of you, but it does not have to be the place where you remain.

Regret can feel like a heavy backpack you have carried for years. It may start with one choice, one missed chance, one conversation, or one moment you wish had gone differently. Over time, that regret can begin to shape how you trust yourself, how you make decisions, and how you move forward in your life.
In this episode of This Life or Something Better, Priscilla explores regret as a teacher rather than a punishment. She shares how regret often comes from choices we made with the tools, awareness, and information we had at the time, and why we do not actually know that the other choice would have turned out better.
You'll learn how regret can point you back to your values, reveal what matters most, and help you make a new choice from where you are now. Priscilla also shares insight from her work as a medium and what loved ones in Spirit often express about the regrets they carried in life.
This episode includes reflection questions and a simple writing practice to help you begin moving regret out of your mind and onto the page, where you can find the wisdom inside it.
In this episode, you'll explore:
Regret does not have to keep you stuck in the past. It can become the doorway to more compassion, honesty, courage, and peace.
Keep reaching for your something better.

In this episode, we explore the topic of Excuses and Results. Priscilla shares that you can have excuses, or you can have results, but you can't hold both at the same time.
This isn't a conversation about productivity. It's a conversation about identity, self‑trust, and the version of you that's trying to emerge.
We dive into the difference between promises and commitments, and why excuses become the escape routes we build to avoid the discomfort of becoming who we said we wanted to be. You'll learn why excuses feel so convincing, how they protect us emotionally, and what it looks like to step into a deeper, embodied state of commitment.
If you're ready to stop negotiating with your potential and start honoring the future version of you who's already cheering you on, this episode will speak directly to your soul.
Stay until the end for three powerful reflection questions to help you turn promises into commitments, and commitments into results.

Are you putting off something that still matters to you?
In this episode of This Life or Something Better, Priscilla explores procrastination in a new way. You are not a procrastinator. You may have the habit of procrastination, and habits can be changed.

The weather gets nicer, schedules change, distractions increase, and the things that once felt important can quietly get pushed to another day.

You'll learn how to create a clear next step, remove distractions and easy exits, and create a runway of time so you can move through resistance and begin again.
If you have been struggling with procrastination, motivation, follow-through, focus, or keeping commitments to yourself, this episode will help you shift out of judgment and back into action.

Rebirth is not always about starting over or changing everything in your life. Sometimes it begins by noticing what is supporting your growth and what may need a small adjustment.
In this episode of This Life or Something Better, Priscilla explores how to create the right conditions for your rebirth by looking at the soil, water, light, nutrients, and space your growth needs. She also shares a personal story about choosing between Vermont and Connecticut, and the powerful image of one path being a vein and the other being an artery.
You'll be invited to look at the people, conversations, routines, beliefs, and spaces around you and ask whether they support the version of you that is trying to grow. This episode will help you see rebirth as a process of tending to yourself, creating more possibility, and making one aligned adjustment at a time.

Grief doesn't follow a timeline. It follows connection.
In this episode, we're talking about grief in a way that goes beyond stages, timelines, and expectations. This is a grounded conversation about what grief actually feels like when you lose someone you love, or a pet who was part of your everyday life.
Because grief doesn't always look the way we think it will. It can show up as feeling off, disconnected, uncertain, or like something just isn't right.
Drawing from both personal experience and my work as a Medium, I walk through the most common questions people ask after loss - Are they okay? Are they still with me? Do they know how much I loved them?
We'll explore what's happening in your mind and body, why grief comes in waves, and how the connection with your loved one or pet doesn't end, it simply changes.
If you've been questioning your grief, wondering why you still feel the way you do, or trying to make sense of this in-between space, this episode will help you understand it in a different way.

Living Life as an Experiment
What if your life isn't a final exam, but an experiment?
Many of us live with the pressure to get everything right: the right career, the right relationship, the right purpose. That pressure can leave us stuck, overthinking every decision and afraid to take the next step.
In this episode, Priscilla introduces a powerful mindset shift: treating life as an experiment. In research, experiments aren't about perfection. They're about testing ideas, observing results, and learning from feedback.
What if you approached your life the same way?
You'll explore how curiosity, intentional action, and openness to feedback can help you move forward with more creativity and courage. Instead of waiting for certainty, you'll discover how to engage with life, try new things, and learn along the way.
Because when life becomes an experiment, nothing is wasted, and every experience brings you closer to your something better.

The Art of Showing Up: Showing Up for Yourself
What does it actually mean to show up for yourself?
In this final episode of The Art of Showing Up series, we turn inward and explore the most important relationship you have - the one you have with yourself.
Showing up for yourself isn't about perfection, productivity, or trying harder. It's about being present and engaged in your own life instead of avoiding it. It's about being emotionally available to yourself, taking responsibility without shame, and rebuilding trust after you've let yourself down.
We also look at the ways self-criticism and old patterns pull you backward and how small, consistent actions can move you forward again. From dating yourself and testing what you truly want, to becoming more mindful of your thoughts and environment, this episode invites you to define what showing up for yourself looks like in your life.
If you've ever felt disappointed in your own actions or struggled to follow through, this conversation will help you return to yourself with clarity, accountability, and presence.
Reflection questions are included to support deeper awareness and practical change.

The Art of Showing Up: Showing Up for Others
Showing up for others sounds simple, but it's often harder than we expect.
In this episode, we explore what it really means to show up for the people in our lives, not by fixing their problems, rescuing, or taking on their emotions, but by being present and grounded in ourselves.
We talk about how to hold space without losing yourself, how to stay regulated when someone else is struggling, and why true presence doesn't require having the right words or solutions. This conversation also looks at the often-overlooked challenge of showing up during good times - celebrations like weddings, pregnancies, promotions, and milestones - and what to do when comparison, jealousy, or grief quietly surface.
This episode invites you to notice what comes up for you when others need support or are experiencing joy, and how to care for your own inner experience so you can show up with honesty, compassion, and boundaries.
Reflection questions are included to help you explore how you show up for others, and how that connects to how you show up for yourself.

The Art of Showing Up: Physically Showing Up in Your Life
Congratulations! You showed up.
In this episode, we explore the most foundational step in creating change: physically showing up for your own life. Not with intensity. Not with perfection. But with consistency.
Building on the previous conversation about patterns and repetition, this episode focuses on how action creates motivation, not the other way around, and why showing up is the first step in retraining your brain to move out of old habits and into new ones.
Through practical examples, including how to build momentum around habits like going to the gym, starting projects, or following through on commitments, we look at how small, repeatable actions shape identity over time. You'll hear why confidence doesn't come first, how lowering the bar can actually move you forward, and how keeping commitments to yourself builds self-respect and trust.
This episode includes simple, real-life strategies for practicing showing up and reflection questions to help you identify where you may be waiting for motivation instead of taking action.
If you're ready to stop putting things off and start building momentum one small step at a time, this episode is for you.

Your mind is always doing something.
Thinking. Replaying. Planning. Distracting. Negotiating. Getting you through the day.
But have you ever stopped to ask yourself what your mind is actually being used for?
In this opening episode of Season 5, we explore a question that will carry us through the entire season: What else could you be doing with your mind?
This isn't about willpower or discipline. It's about awareness. It's about recognizing the habits your mind reaches for when you're stressed, tired, overwhelmed, or unsure, and understanding that those habits once served a purpose, even if they no longer give you the return you want.
We'll talk about how habits form, why distraction and numbing are so common, and how change begins not by trying harder, but by practicing differently. You'll learn how to start practicing the person you are becoming, one small choice at a time, and how to work with your mind instead of feeling like it's running the show.
As always, we'll close with reflection questions to help you take this conversation out of your head and into your life.
If you've been feeling scattered, stuck, or quietly aware that there's more available to you, this episode is an invitation to slow down, get curious, and begin again with intention.

As the year comes to a close, many people feel the quiet pressure to decide who they're going to be next. This episode offers something different, a pause instead of a push.
In this New Year's Eve bonus episode, Priscilla invites you to reflect on how beginnings really happen. Not through resolutions or dramatic change, but through trust, curiosity, and the willingness to begin again one day at a time.
This episode explores the difference between waiting for "one day" and choosing "day one," creating from inspiration rather than urgency, and building commitments rooted in who you are becoming, not what you plan to do. You'll be encouraged to approach the next chapter of your life with a beginner's mind, open to possibility, wonder, and opportunity.

The holidays have a way of bringing people together and with them, familiar patterns, old roles, and emotional triggers. In this episode, Priscilla explores why family dynamics often activate us the most during the holiday season and how our False Authorities are usually formed in the very places we feel the most reactive.
Rather than avoiding difficult people or pretending everything is fine, this episode invites you to stop fighting reality and start working with what you already know. You'll learn how to recognize when your child self is reacting, how to respond from your Inner Authority, and how small, conscious choices like adjusting your proximity, timing, or expectations, can help you stay grounded and present.

When life feels heavy, chaotic, or unmanageable, it's easy to blame the circumstances around us. But overwhelm, burnout, and stress often have a deeper source, the invisible cage we build for ourselves through pressure, expectations, and the belief that we "have to" keep going.

Are your habits rooted in alignment or just a reward for following the rules?
In this episode of This Life or Something Better, Priscilla unpacks the hidden ways we sabotage consistency by turning healthy choices into conditional rewards. From “dessert comes after dinner” to “I earned this splurge,” we often rely on rules and incentives that disconnect us from our values. If your habits keep slipping, or it's hard to form new ones, this might be why.
You’ll learn why external motivation fades, how to rebuild patterns from identity instead of obligation, and what it means to move from earning your joy to choosing it freely. You might not even realize you’re doing it.
You’re making smart choices, being responsible, staying practical, and yet, something feels like it’s missing. You’re not losing, exactly, but you’re not winning either.
In this episode of This Life or Something Better, I’m asking you to consider a quiet but powerful question:
Are you playing to win, or just trying not to lose?

This episode offers a gentle, honest path to begin. A small shift. A real question. A safe but meaningful step forward.

What if life wasn’t meant to be a constant struggle?
In this episode of This Life or Something Better, I’m inviting you to question one of the most deeply held beliefs we carry: that life has to be hard in order to be meaningful. We’ve been taught that growth only comes through pain, that hustle equals worth, and that ease is something we earn after everything else is done.
But what if ease was a choice? What if you’re allowed to live with more grace, more flow, and more trust, especially in difficult times?

Have you ever caught yourself waiting - waiting for a sign, someone’s approval, or the “right” moment - to make a change or finally be yourself? In this episode of This Life or Something Better, we dive into the unconscious pattern many of us carry from childhood: asking for permission before we act. Whether it’s in relationships, career, or the way we express ourselves, this habit of seeking approval can quietly hold us back from living fully.

Today's episode is a topic that I think every one of us has struggled with at one time or another - The Illusion of Control. While we may like our life to be in some order, control is another level of that. It is often based in fear and lack of psychological safety. When we feel out of control, we either react or we acquiesce. In those moments we are not allowing our authentic self to be seen, felt or heard.
In this episode, we'll unpack the illusion of control and explore the two things we can actually have power over. As we are in season of 25 Questions in 2025, I'll finish up with two reflection questions that you can journal on to help you find out where control might show up in your life and how you release it.

When we make big life changes, our minds tend to focus on everything we’re leaving behind instead of what we’re stepping into. Even when the change is positive, starting a new career, leaving a toxic relationship, prioritizing our well-being, there’s often a pull to mourn what’s ending instead of celebrating what’s beginning.
In this episode, we’re diving into why we do this, what it costs us, and how to shift our perspective from loss to gain. I’ll share insights on how the brain processes change, why the past can feel safer than the unknown, and how to reframe your thinking so you can move forward with confidence.

What if you approached your life with a Beginner's Mind? What if you could admit to yourself that you don't know anything? We were all souls prior to coming into the human experience. As we came into being human, we had to rely on others to help us navigate our life. This process goes on well into our teens and it creates who we are as a human. Sometimes this primal family we were born into works out, and other times it doesn't. Either way, the primal family is the place where we set a foundation of learning for ourselves. Our beliefs are formed. Our behaviors are formed. Our navigation of relationships is formed. It may not always be fun, but it is a process.
On this episode, we'll explore the role of our primal family and how we can best navigate the learning we received. Priscilla explore Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and applies it to growing up within our primal family. We'll finish off the episode with a challenge that may help you to see your family in a different light.

Welcome to another soul-nourishing episode of This Life or Something Better, where we embark on an empowering journey of self-discovery and growth. Today, we delve into a fundamental aspect of personal development: cultivating healthy boundaries.
Life has its way of testing us, presenting us with challenging situations and relationships that call for a delicate balance of self-preservation and compassion. We've learned that trying to change someone else is a path fraught with frustration and disappointment. Instead, we invite you to join us in exploring the beautiful transformations that unfold when we focus on our own personal growth and learning opportunities.
Boundaries are not walls we build to isolate ourselves; rather, they're the nurturing fences that protect the garden of our souls. In this episode, we highlight the significance of setting healthy boundaries and recognizing that others' behavior often stems from their own insecurities.
We share stories and personal experiences to illustrate the importance of establishing boundaries for ourselves and managing our energy wisely. Remember, we're not responsible for managing other people's feelings, and it's okay to say "no" when necessary. Prioritizing ourselves doesn't make us selfish; it's an act of self-love that enables us to show up fully for others when we choose to.
In our discussion, we also address misconceptions and the misuse of boundaries, calling out toxic and controlling behaviors that can hinder our growth. We believe that every individual has the responsibility to establish and enforce their own boundaries, and we emphasize that others are not obligated to respect them.
Throughout this episode, we offer practical advice on how to set boundaries effectively and suggest gradually increasing social interactions to avoid isolation. Finding the balance between alone time and nurturing friendships is key to fostering a harmonious inner world.
We encourage you to embrace challenging situations as opportunities for personal growth, urging you to push your own boundaries and explore insecurities or recurring emotions. Remember, growth rarely happens within our comfort zones.
Boundaries are about creating a positive environment, not only for ourselves but also for those around us. By nurturing healthy boundaries, we foster an atmosphere of understanding, respect, and empathy.
So join us as we embark on this transformative journey of cultivating healthy boundaries in all aspects of life. Remember to keep an open mind and an open heart, and let's create your Something Better together.
