"We recall our terrible past so that we can deal with it, to forgive where forgiveness is necessary, without forgetting; to ensure that never again will such inhumanity tear us apart." Nelson Mandela
In today's episode, I will share my personal journey of mourning the loss of my sister and how forgiveness played a crucial role in my healing process.
It is a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or revenge toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they deserve your forgiveness. The only thing forgiveness requires is to stop feeling resentment towards a person.
When do you need to forgive someone? When you want to let go of bitterness and be the person, you want to be.
Learn how to release resentment and take small action steps to develop the skill of forgiveness.

What did I learn about resilience in the depths of my grief?
Resilience is a personal quality without the presence of a traumatic event. The process of adjusting when facing a tragedy. We all go through challenging and even overwhelming situations. However, some people handle these situations better and recover emotionally quicker than others. Nevertheless, everyone has some level of internal resiliency.
While resilience is the process of enduring a personal life crisis, post-traumatic growth is the positive changes that occur during or after the crisis has passed.
Resilience means returning to your true self after experiencing trauma that may have caused a disconnection from your identity. Resilience is meeting your own needs.
Let me share my story: "It's never okay to tell people that our trauma is a blessing when we have yet to dissect our emotional wounds from a tragic event."

“In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning, such as the meaning of a sacrifice.” Viktor Frankl
In today's episode, we'll dive into Post Traumatic Growth, particularly from the viewpoint of growing through grief.
"PTG is a theory that explains this kind of transformation following trauma. It was developed by psychologists Richard Tedeschi, Ph.D., and Lawrence Calhoun, Ph.D., in the mid-1990s, and holds that people who endure mental struggle following adversity can often see positive growth afterward."
During times of stress, crisis, or trauma, individuals often question the benefits that can arise from hardships. 2020 was marked by a pandemic that led to numerous fatalities, job losses, rising divorce rates, and a global economic decline. This has caused many to question their fundamental beliefs, personal identity, and spirituality, as the future remains uncertain.
Traumatic events must be significant enough to force individuals to reassess their representations of themselves and others, their world, and what the future may bring. It has been discovered that negative experiences can bring about positive transformations. However, it may take some time before the benefits of life's challenges become apparent, as growth and development often require effort and perseverance.
Trauma can help forge new relationships and make people more grateful for the ones they already have. Coming through a crisis together is a bonding experience.

As Mental Health Awareness Month draws to a close, I want to share my experience with taking a break from social media. I took a 30-day digital detox to improve my mental well-being, and I want to highlight the benefits of doing so. While I will continue to discuss mental health topics in my newsletters and podcast show, this month was dedicated to raising awareness that mental health should not be ignored.
Reducing digital distractions can lead to better mental health and more meaningful human interactions. Do you ever notice people's faces buried in their smartphones when you walk through the park or cross the street? It can be nerve-racking to see people not take a quick look up before crossing the street. Some are anxious to get that text or anxiously awaiting a response.
After thirty days of social media detox, journal your heart out to answer these two questions:
Would the last thirty days have been notably better if I had been able to use this service?
Did people care that I wasn't using the service? Please share your insights on how you were able to take time off from social media.

On today's show, become socially fearless and overcome social Anxiety. I will discuss social Anxiety's effects on the loneliness factors that impact your grief journeys, whether from death or divorce.
We all have scars from relational brokenness. It's important to remember that your scars have a story to tell and are an essential part of your skin. While wounds require attention and care to prevent infection and promote healing, scars represent the healing process. Allow your wounds to heal and embrace the story your scars have to tell.
Yes, it can be complicated because we are complex, intricate human beings with a past. Still, we also have an unwritten future and an opportunity within this present moment to begin to forge new pathways.

In today's show, the focus is on the topic of anxiety and how it is related to cumulative grief. I will discuss how to manage anxiety as it arises after experiencing heartbreaking losses and suffering. I provide helpful tips and strategies for coping with these difficult emotions. Overall, the discussion offers valuable insights and guidance for anyone struggling with grief and unraveling the shadow of anxiety.
Most of us deal with anxiety daily. Some people have had difficult upbringings, and experiences in childhood may lead to persistent feelings of anxiety.
Grief anxiety is a common experience for many people who have lost a loved one. It is a natural response to a major life change and can be challenging to manage. Dealing with grief anxiety involves finding healthy coping mechanisms like exercise, meditation, or therapy. It is important to allow yourself time to grieve, process your emotions, and seek support from loved ones or a mental health professional if needed. Remember that everyone's journey with grief is unique, and there is no right or wrong way to deal with it. Take care of yourself and be patient and kind to yourself as you navigate this difficult time.

A fearless adventure refers to an experience that involves stepping outside of one's comfort zone, taking calculated risks, and embracing the unknown with a courageous and confident attitude. It may include exploring new places, trying new activities, or facing personal fears and challenges. A fearless adventure requires mental and physical preparation, including developing a positive and resilient mindset and adaptability to unpredictable situations. The goal of a daring adventure is not just to achieve a specific outcome or reach a destination but to find joy, personal growth, and a sense of fulfillment in the journey itself.
One example of the importance of stepping outside of your comfort zone is in personal growth and development. When you stay within your comfort zone, you limit your potential and miss out on opportunities to learn and grow.
Similarly, if you never try new things or take risks, you may miss out on opportunities for personal growth and discovering new passions. Stepping outside your comfort zone can help you gain confidence, learn new skills, and broaden your perspectives, all of which can contribute to a more fulfilling and successful life.
I want to leave you with an inspirational quote to live boldly.
"Cultivate a fearless approach to life, attack everything with boldness and energy." – Robert Greene.

The podcast "From Grieving Hearts to Contribution" will explore various personal and professional growth topics and how individuals can transition from focusing on growth to making meaningful contributions to their communities and the world.
Grief is a complex and difficult emotion to navigate, and it can be challenging to find ways to move forward after experiencing a loss. However, one way to cope with grief is to focus on making meaningful contributions to others.
You can channel your grief into something positive and meaningful by focusing on contributing to others. Volunteering at a local shelter or community center. You can also consider donating to a charity or non-profit organization close to your heart. Remember that every act of kindness can make a difference, no matter how small it may seem.

Here is a quote from Brene Brown's book Braving the Wilderness
"Belonging so fully to yourself that you're willing to stand alone is a wilderness -- an untamed, unpredictable place of solitude and searching. It is a place as dangerous as it is breathtaking, a place as sought after as it is feared." Brene Brown
Isolation can be harmful, but it can be a reaction to circumstances and surroundings that are not intensifying or valuable. Isolation is never replenishing. Isolation offers no such promise, creating devastating mental distress outcomes.
Being in solitude can build up mental strength. Research studies have found that people who spend time alone are happier. They report better life satisfaction and lower levels of stress.
Solitude allows you to plan your life.
Solitude increases productivity.
Solitude sparks creativity.

How Do I Deal With The Loneliness I Feel?
As a person who has lived experiences with grief, I've come across folks who lost their husband, wife, and child. It was challenging to grieve with them as I come from parental and sibling loss. To talk through our negative feelings about each other's loss was nerve-racking. There was little to no connection with others who had experienced one loss.
Grief is a normal and natural process that takes work. Dealing with emotions requires time and energy to heal those unimaginable losses. Do what you can to express the feelings and thoughts running around your pretty mind. Write it out and share it with a safe person who can be an empathic listener.

Unconditional love is a term that means to love someone regardless of the loved one’s qualities or actions. The pattern of unconditional love is a mother’s love for her newborn. To honor my mother's birthday month, I wanted to share my story of unconditional love and how I experienced growth without her physical presence. Grief is love when you have such a valuable relationship with that person.
Mom, you have taught me so much about unconditional love no matter how good or bad my qualities; you gave me your love and undivided attention. As I worked on this terminology, it’s incredible how it has affected me in the long run. How do I show up when I come across people who have hurt me in the past?
We can love without expectations because we don't live with the fear of being taken advantage of.
Though things change, the future's still inside of me
We must remember that tomorrow comes after the dark
So you will always be in my heart, with unconditional love. Song by Tupac, Unconditional Love

Define Jealousy by Brene Brown-
"Jealousy is when we fear losing a relationship or a valued part of a relationship that we already have."
Jealousy happens in all areas of our lives, whether in romantic or co-worker relationships. You may feel ashamed, intimidated, doubtful, or rejected, depending on the circumstances.
This type of jealousy I am referring to is grief jealousy which I don't hear often, and I would like to share my input on how it came about in my world. I hope this will inspire you to acknowledge it and learn how you can reframe it with peace and love.
When you are feeling jealous of other groups, what do you do?

When you are struggling through an unimaginable painful event, do you have the mental capacity to set limits and still be a loving person? Do you fear setting boundaries with others because of rejection or guilt?
This episode is for you if you are struggling with unresolved grief and loss and trying to manage a way to set healthy and appropriate boundaries.
A boundary is something you create for yourself, so you can be in peace and balance when relating to others.
It's not a way to control other people that would separate us from others.
Quote: By Dr. Henry Cloud
"Boundaries define us. They define what is me and what is not me. A boundary shows me where I end, and someone else begins, leading me to a sense of ownership."
Why this quote. It gave me a lesson on how to set healthy boundaries. The relationship erupts in the end because of build-up bitterness and hatred for my lack of boundaries. I walked away learning to develop proper boundaries from a place of love and self-kindness with a relationship authenticity and without resentment.
Establishing boundaries for yourself will be challenging, especially after an emotionally traumatic experience with grief and loss. However, I hope these tools will help you get mental clarity on setting healthy boundaries. The reward for setting wise boundaries is the joy and desires fulfilled in life.

I want to share how writing has healed me through my many losses and failures in life—going through multiple losses in a short time. Missing friends that were active for 15 years and, in a matter of 15 minutes, blocked on FB or did not know how to be friends during the emotional storms.
-Losing my family to death at a relatable disease
-Disappearances of friends who could not withstand the downfall of my life. I had an epiphany on that stance.
After experiencing rock bottom, I came across my sister's journal, which had massive emotional wounds that allowed me to start writing about my life circumstances and how it has been a lifesaver. Some people will pass on writing and want to talk it out with someone who can provide guidance and support. However, I did not have the most excellent folks yet to dive into my life circumstances. I dove into my sister's writings and read some of her emotional wounds, but she is no longer physically present. Now I want to share a journal entry about avoiding pain.

In this episode of the Elevate Human Experiences, I would like to take the time to talk about one of my teachers that has had a significant impact on me. We are talking about no other than one of the most popular life coaches and motivational speakers, Tony Robbins. When I bring up Tony Robbin's name, most people know who he is because he was so popular back in the 90s. He has those big teeth with Saturday infomercials.
As I gathered my sister's belongings, she left a lot of personal development books and had unlimited literature on Tony Robbins and CD and audio programs that I dive in to prepare my mind to handle unexpected life circumstances.
Tony has written some amazing books. He wrote a book called Unlimited Power. He wrote a book called Unleash the Power Within, Awaken the Giant, Money Masters, and Unshakeable. Money Masters was the book that I studied and listened to the most to strategize on how to handle all the financial legalities after the death of my family members.
"Trade Your Expectations for Appreciation" During your grief journeys, acknowledge those painful moments and allow yourself to make the necessary changes that will fulfill your new life.
I will always thank Tony Robbins for teaching me to go from emotionally broken to financial literate. Thanks, Tony. I will always be a student of Tony Robbins, and I highly recommend you join me.
I want to thank my sister for leaving behind lifelong learning materials to help me navigate a new life.

Experiencing multiple losses has brought sudden collapse to having a secure attachment. Once my attachment figures were gone, I used hyper-activating strategies such as crying and clinging on to restore closeness. However, that strategy did not work and left me with the constant worry about others being unreachable or ditching me when support was much needed. That led me to develop an insecure attachment, defined by approaching relationships characterized by fear or uncertainty. It suddenly did disrupt the normal process of recovery from loss. I had no trust and denied my emotional needs.

FORGIVENESS
Quote on Forgiveness:
As I walked out the door toward the gate that would lead to my freedom, I knew if I didn't leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I'd still be in prison.- Nelson Mandela
It is a conscious, deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or revenge toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they deserve your forgiveness. The only thing forgiveness requires to stop feeling resentment towards a person.
When do you need to forgive someone? When you want to let go of bitterness and be the person you want to be.
Forgiveness is not excusing poor behavior.
Forgiveness does not mean reconciling with the offender
Forgiveness does not mean you give up having feelings
Forgiveness isn't easy, but it's vital to your mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.

Have you ever experienced multiple losses of your loves and knew how to cope with each loss? Have you experienced a parental or sibling loss? Then, my friend, you are in for a show that conceals conversations about grief overload. I wanted to share my experience and provide you with some coping mechanisms to recover.
An increased understanding of how multiple losses can affect one's grieving process will contribute to the professional and personal field of grief and loss.
There's no timetable for how long someone can grieve a loss. If someone never addresses the loss of a loved one, the delayed healing and increased pain can derail the mourning process. We don't grieve well alone, and grief overload can occur if we hinder healing.
I went from being emotionally broken to mentally, physically, spiritually, and financially informed.

If you want something you've never had, you have to do something you've never done before. And for a lot of people, that means taking a risk. Yet far too often, people resist taking action because they are scared.
Fear tends to sneak up and attack our attempt to try new things. It's like a cloak of protection that may harm us. The real damage comes from inaction that fear cultivates in our lives. We avoid things that make us uncomfortable, but there is no growth.
Sooner or later, caution and fears will wreak havoc on your mental and emotional well-being.
In life, you're going to encounter hard times at some point. Be prepared to endure pain and find solutions at any moment. New people, new opportunities, and possibilities.

"Everyone deserves access to cancer care."
Everybody should have access to health care no matter the barriers of limitations. Equity is about giving everyone what they need to bring them up to the same level.
10 million people each year die from cancer - From the World Cancer Care website
Whoever you are, you have the power to reduce the impact of cancer for yourself, the people you love, and the world. The first year of the 'Close the Care Gap' campaign is all about understanding and recognizing the inequities in cancer care around the globe. It's about having an open mind, challenging assumptions, and looking at the hard facts. Only when we learn and understand can we take action and make progress. It's time to close the care gap.

While we cannot control the world around us, we can shape how we respond to the new and challenging conditions life presents. The global pandemic had put some stresses in our lives that left most of us with uncertainty. This challenge is an opportunity to reframe our lives as an invitation to show up with presence. A learnable skill of being in the now can reduce our risk of falling ill and feeling stressed. Presence is about how we show up how we approach the people we desire to connect and influence. Presence allows us to train the mind to respond flexibly and not react impulsively. When faced with tense moments, imagine approaching them with confidence and eagerness instead of doubt and fear.
