Eric looks back at one of the origins of his Disney obsession. DTV was Disney Channel’s answer to MTV in the 1980s. Each episode of the series featured Disney animation clips choreographed to popular music of the time. Eric explores the impact MTV had on Disney’s decision to make this series. Eric discusses his thoughts on the Netflix show Wednesday, and its connections to the Disney Company. Tim Burton, the director of Wednesday, has worked extensively with Disney and brings his signature creepy style to the show. Disney Legend Danny Elfman provides the music for Wednesday. Additionally, Jenna Ortega, the lead actress in Wednesday, previously starred in the Disney Channel show Stuck in the Middle. The visions in Wednesday are compared to the TV show That's So Raven, and the tour of the Nevermore campus in Wednesday is likened to the Disney Channel original movie Zombies. Eric welcomes his special guest, his Son Ben (9). Together they take a look at all of the Disney Lego sets that have been created as part of the Lego Ideas Program (https://ideas.lego.com). Lego Ideas allows fans to present their own homemade lego builds for consideration by other fans. If a project gets 10,000 votes it goes under review to be considered to become a real Lego set. In the history of the program Lego sets have been greenlit from Disney Properties like Tron, Wall-E, Winnie the Pooh, and Steamboat Willie. There are also a couple of upcoming Lego sets with a connection to Ideas. One for Pixar’s Up and another for The Nightmare Before Christmas. Eric catches up with Adam from the Engineering Theme Parks Podcast. They discuss Arrow Development, the company that helped WED engineer the Disney Theme Parks. Adam and Eric discuss the history of the Iconic ride systems Arrow had a hand in! Including Omnimovers, boat rides, spinners like Dumbo and the Mad Tea Party, and the Matterhorn. Arrow developed the tubular steel track of the Matterhorn that allowed Disney to fit the coster inside the mountain and led to Arrow’s place at the cutting edge of the Coaster Wars. Arrow Development's work with Disney Parks has influenced themed entertainment and amusement parks all over the world!
