This podcast aims to promote the wonderful profession of OT, inspire people to join us, and most importantly spread the word of how we support families and carers through sharing our vast knowledge and experience. We have the wonderful Ruth Bradley on todays show. Ruth is a UK trained occupational therapist based out in Brisbane, Australia. Ruth is the professional lead for mental health within the trust she works in. She has developed an occupational therapy adult mental health assessment being delivered across the trust as well successfully providing specialist supervision to a large number of employees. Listen to Ruth tell us about her experience of working in Australia and the opportunities which are out there.

Rachael has used her own experiences and occupational therapy skills and knowledge to jointly set up a school (with Lucy, her colleague) and a re-engagement programme for those struggling to access mainstream education. Very inspiring work! l would also say, the future to enable all children and young people to gain the skills and relevant education required for them to engage with meaningful occupations for the rest of their lives.
The more l listen and think about this the more passionately l feel about the changes which need to be made to the educational system, and its accessibility for all. What are your thoughts??

HELLO! We are back!
We have Louise Buckenham on the show today. Louise works with adults with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Aspergers. The team she is in provide a fantastic blend of traditional and modern services to develop strategies with their clients. This enables them to engage with everyday meaningful activities and therefore, have positive mental health and well-being.

We have the wonderful Beth and Kim on the show today. They tell us all about their role emerging placement on a Care Farm, and how they were able to use OT based tools to have a positive impact on their service users . This in turn enabled them to re- engage with everyday activities. This then led to a positive increase in their health and well-being! On today's episode Kwaku tells us about OT life working with young men in the justice system. We discuss how we need to adapt our OT skills to work with this clinical population to enable the development of self, to facilitate motivation and participation in everyday activities. We also discuss the importance of maintaining a work/life balance to prevent burnout which is so important, especially during these challenging times.
