In this episode of State of Performance, Mohamed Kamara, Founder of InovCares, shares his mission to leverage technology to address the high mortality rates among minority women during childbirth. After his sister tragically died during childbirth, Mohamed was inspired to create a company that tackles implicit biases in healthcare, and provides solutions like telemedicine to give women of color access to culturally sensitive doctors. He emphasizes the importance of understanding user problems and building technology solutions that perform well for both patient and doctor users. Mohamed’s company offers services such as remote patient monitoring, teleconsultations, delivery of required medications and match-making between patients and culturally sensitive doctors. This episode highlights the challenges of integrating technology into healthcare, especially in optimized patient engagement beyond telehealth visits, the integration with EHR systems for streamlined services, and the handling of large-scale data processing of patient information.
